Being a Mal fan is so hard because like. Is he well-written? No. Is he a harmful stereotype? Yes. Is he entertaining? Barely. Which season is he in? The bad one. Does he have any positive relationships? Not really. Does the narrative bend to his whims? Absolutely. Is his plot armor insane? Borderline worse than Heather’s yeah. Is he stronger or more intimidating than the antagonists before him? Not at all, the writers peaked with Alejandro. Is he an especially unique character? No he’s just a little emo who loves making problems because…idk he does?? Are the most interesting parts of his character completely ignored by the writers beyond a few passing lines about protecting Mike and going to juvie? Oh you bet your ass they are. Did he even make it out of the narrative alive? No, and his death was ableist, and fucking stupid as well. Anyways he is my favorite character
