Look there are totally valid reasons to dislike Johnny Truant, like he is a scumbag, but I will not understand people who say that he's totally unnecessary to the story?? Like the book is literally about him

#He is Zampanò slowly rotting away as he obsesses over a story that doesn't want to be told #he is Tom making shadow puppets on the wall to distract himself from his fear #he is Will lining up his camera to take a picture of a dying girl #he is Delial slowly dying while no one tries to help him #he is chad and daisy watching and fearing this hallway that's somehow so beyond their comprehension and yet right there #he is holloway and he is wax and he is tom all losing themselves #he is the minotaur and the labyrinth and he is the house and he is the book #he's a little kid who watched his mother be dragged away and was abused by his foster father #and watched his mother descend into madness just as he did #I read this whole ass book and I'm making it everyone else's problem #house of leaves
