Fun fact : ever since the investigation team got created yosuke has told many stories that he saw worse things than yu himself to keep everyone on their fins

told many stories about that one time he saw a merman corpse staring at him because he was rotting standing up practically or he had a close call with hunters and they were ravenous people that try to hunt him down for his gills or he collected many bones that weren't infected by the fog and turns out they were ivory bones that he cannot sell for a good fortune unless if they get cleaned first

He joined the investigation team all because he wanted to prevent the murder and the insanity of humans so he got his mase ( which his partner made by the way ) and wants to lead merfolk to freedom of this crystal curse of 'mother nature'
