#aria rants#dunmeshi taught me that designing a creature requires a lot more knowledge in its body structure than just ''cool design''#anyway all this to say is that ive been researching about biology and how the jaws of humans and snakes work#for the sake of my own mermaid version of alec cuz i was like: how would he do the thing snakes do with its mouths???#turns out he doesnt need to! cuz snakes having a flexible jaw is a result of not being able to hold down their prey#so they need to just swallow it whole and that wont work for alec that has the upper body of a human#he has claws too so he doesnt need the flexible jaw. he can just use his claws to tear apart his prey
