≡ Headcanons of how Kakucho (Bonten) would act if he fell in love with you

Kakucho became more reserved over time, showing feelings was never his strong point, despite that, when he realized how in love he was with you, it was as if his feelings were vivid again.

Even though he had a life full of obligations, Kakucho would always find a way to see you or get in touch with you, treating you as a priority whenever he could, he would be affectionate and adorable, not even seeming to be part of a criminal organization.

He would buy you flowers, take you to romantic dinners in private places and please you in every way possible, Kakucho wouldn't mind demonstrating how romantic and gentleman he could be.

Whenever he saw you, Kakucho wouldn't hold back on the compliments, despite being mature and somewhat cold, his cheeks would still turn red every time their eyes met.

His eyes would show how in love he would be, Kakucho likes to watch you, seeing each of your details attentively left him amazed.

Kakucho would avoid any physical contact with you, just hugs or kisses on the cheek, even if you allowed intimacy between you, he wouldn't accept it, he would only do something if he found the courage to ask you to be his girlfriend/boyfriend.

He would take some time to declare himself, both because he was afraid of ending up being rejected and also thinking that you just deserved someone better.

The tallest would spend countless hours thinking about you, even if he was "working" he never stopped keeping his thoughts on you.

Kakucho is not the jealous type, despite this, he is totally protective, no matter what happens, you feel you would feel safe by his side, he would be strict with your safety and well-being, ending up always being haunted by the fear of you miss someday.

Every time you show love or are loving towards him in some way, no matter how much he wants to maintain the gangster pose, Kakucho simply can't, he remains with a silly smile and being as affectionate as possible.

Kakucho would always be as respectful as possible, he would be understanding and would do anything to make you happy, seeing you smile would always make him genuinely happy.

No, no, because Mucho's death.

Aside from the obvious part of being killed by the very thing you raised that people - rightfully so - focus on, what about the other tragic aspects of it?

Mucho got released before the rest of S62 - because of his good behavior, because he's an exemplary inmate ig - and that kills him.

He dies because he goes out alone, because he was well-behaved. And that's not the worse because that'd be too easy if that was the case.

Honestly, S62 most likely doesn't like juvie (pretty sure nobody does, even if & because that's where they met Izana and he's not even there this time around. They came back here because Izana cannot come back anymore.) so it's not surprising Mucho got out as soon as he could; but they also went to juvie by their own volition and they most likely don't want to be separated again. But Mucho got out as soon as he could.

Because there were other people waiting from him outside - Toman which he had to apologize to, Sanzu of course, and also Kakucho who was waiting alone for S62, suffering alone about Izana's death while S62 had each other.

Mucho got out because he had to apologize, make amends, and find Kakucho fast after S62 learnt he made it alive.

But he got out alone, vulnerable, trusting.

I don't think he thought Toman forgave him; but I think he was at peace with what happened during Tenjiku. Losing Izana hurts a lot but he knows what remains and he's determined to right his wrongs, to work for a better life. And he trusts, and he's loyal, and he loves, and he didn't see that coming.

He got out because he loved. Toman, S62, Sanzu, Kakucho - everything. He got killed for it, too.

And Kakucho? If he exchanged letters with S62 in juvie - I don't know, but he caught on the fact Mucho died (and at Sanzu's hands). He had had to learn which day Mucho got released on and the fact nobody saw him afterwards. That there was maybe one person who would care enough to pick him up. And one person who would resent enough to get rid of him.

Mucho wouldn't just follow anyone, wouldn't let his guard down near just anyone and would also not disappear like that.

Mucho would have find him. Mucho should have find him.

He should've been the one to pick Mucho up

And that adds to Kakucho's depression during this time S62 spent at juvie - because he lost Izana and he lost Mucho and he's all alone to deal with it. Once again, he's alive and his loved-ones are not and he's too tired of history repeating itself.

I feel like if youre dating izana you're also sort of with Kakucho as well? It's a mutal love of sorts.

And I don't think kakucho would be jealous or upset about you entering izanas life (not that he would even complain even if he could). In fact I feel like hed probably be pretty happy that Izana found someone to love like that. The both of you end up bonding over your shared love of Izana. And though your "king" may be selfish and strict the both of you are his eternally loyal and adoring servants.

Kakucho also probably acts as sort of translator/middle man for Izana wherever you guys get in an argument. Though he does have a bias towards izana and will take his side in most arguments. Even begrudgingly, but he does try and compromise. It's not the healthiest but he's sweet enough you can't help but give in.

I think itd be funny if Kakucho sort of catches feelings for you while the two of you hang out. He probably wouldnt even realize it until it just hits him and he goes "Uh oh" because 1) youre izana's lover already and 2) hes probably never really had a crush like that before. It'll probably go unrequited but i think it would morph into a similar unflinching loyalty he has w Izana. It's a comfortable companionship. Both of you sharing silent glances that contain entire conversations. Hushed giggles as you two wander the streets. Kakucho would probably offer to teach you some self defense but since his idea of "training" is raiding criminal organizations you declined.

As for Izana, he wont show it but i think hed be a little happy that the two of you are getting along. Just a little. Though if he sees that the two of you are too close for (his) comfort he will pull you away.

Spoilers for the different timelines:

In the bad timeline where Izana becomes the defacto leader of touman, you'll see even less of Kakucho and your relationship will be strictly profressional. He'll visit now and then but usually its just to tell you that izana will be home late. The time you two do get together slowly becoming less and less candid as you dance around the elephant in the room. The both of you know that Kisaki is nothing but a bad influence on Izana, but neither you nor Kakucho can truly do anything about it. At least Izana has his "kingdom", so you guess it can't be all bad.

In the Botan timeline, I feel like his crush might turn into a crutch because the both of you loved izana and now hes gone. And while he wouldnt be as bad as Izana, i can definitely see Kakucho becoming protective to the point of being posessive. Mostly because he's worried how Mikey, and by extension Sanzu, would react to your existence. But also because youre the last piece of Izana he has, just as he is to you. And maybe, he'll start to understand the way Izana felt about you. Its a doomed relationship but its the closest thing to love the both of you will get.

Isn't that nice.

In the good timeline Kakucho is practically apart of the family. And while you are close with the other members of Tenjiku, you talk with Kakucho the most. He still acts as a mediator between you two but his judgements are a little less biased. He also helps around the house a bit too now and then. If you and Izana do ever get married he will cry the entire ceremony.

i need people to understand that part of shinichiro's "charm" and appeal as a character, is that he isn't as good as people pointed him out to be. he's not the best person in the world. he isn't an "uwu" goody two shoes. he's pretty flawed and kinda selfish sometimes. he has good intentions ofc, but most of the time, they fall flat because of the outcome. and before people argue with me, lemme pull out some receipts

sano shinichiro has:

told haruchiyo to forgive mikey for uh *checks notes* mutilating his face

said "that's just how he is" in reference to haruchiyo swinging a katana at people and ending up in jail because of it

disregarded haruchiyo's mental health when it came to time leaping and made him shoulder the burden of his demented younger brother (😭)

gave an 8 year old time leaping powers because he had good vibes

murdered someone

let's stop pretending he didn't do anything wrong. love shinichiro for who he is!! a huge fucking idiot who has no foresight. with a really big heart, that is slightly compromised. because he's probably a traumatized kid. not like he had to raise his younger siblings with no support or anything. his mom died and his dad was a fucking hoe, then he died without ever being present in his life. the guy had it rough which in turn made him a little rough. i don't understand how you can like a character by fabricating facts about them and denying the actual...facts. i hate some of the things that shin has done, but i still love him. i am a true shin fan because i accept that he's fucking great and an inspiration to so many people but he's also kinda awful a bit <33.
