Hermitcraft x Monster High thingy

Thinking of drawing Hermitcraft peeps in a Monster High inspired style. I'm probably gonna try for a more G1 inspired fashion style and artstyle but I'm taking inspo from all the generations. Not every monster is gonna be super detailed or intricate, especially considering some of the hermits skins, which is probably where the G3 inspo comes in.

Not sure if i should make them those G1 info pages they used to have on the MH website with the pet, friends, etc on them. I could also try to put them in a doll box? Or I could try to do a more G3 inspired thing? Not sure. I really want to do something along those lines but I'm actually a really casual fan of many hermits and I don't realyl watch a lot of the streams and videos so I'm not sure what I'd put down. And then there are some hermits I barely watch at all.

Anyways, at the very least I want to draw all the current hermits in a MH thing! I have a few ideas for what monster each hermit will be but others I still need to iron out. I'm probably gonna do just a general vibe rather than season 10 specifically but season 10 will still play a role in their design.

Hiiiiii, some ideas so far for monster type and fashion. 

Bdubs

I don’t have a lot of concrete ideas for Bdubs right now. Some ideas include:  hob, centaur, boogeyman, troll, some sleep-related monster. For his clothes, I’m picturing a clock, maybe some studded accessories and a chain. I think he has a long oversized top. His color pallet would consist of green, red, brown and possibly gray. This is all subject to change of course as I conceptualize more. 

Beef

I think an obvious pick is the Minotaur. There's not many other bull monsters and his name is legit Beef. The canon Minotaur character, Manny, has some labyrinth and maze motifs in his outfit as of G3 which I could try to incorporate for Beef. In my design, he could have gold horn caps or wear an intricate maze-like bracelet. 

Cleo

Need I say any more? She's a zombie. I'm thinking of adding cobweb and spider motifs in their final look just as a callback to the Spider Queen thing she had going on in an earlier season. Perhaps even some bones and skulls. One sock will be striped and the other can be a cobweb design. Then, the shoes could have spiders or skulls on them. They are definitely rocking a cute pair of skull earrings too. For the actual outfit, I don’t have much planned other than it is a top and some shorts. I may add some red into the design to tie into the hair. 

Cubfan

To me, he is a ghost-- a specter, a revenant, a poltergeist if you will. He's very colorful this season so I could draw some inspo from Porter Geist. He'd probably have metal or silver in his outfit such as on his belt and shoes. I think I could give him a key and padlock piece such as the one Spectra has in G3. Blue, silver, black and white is his main color palette and I can add splashes of other colors as accents.

Doc

He’s a frankenmonster and has a stitch and lightning motif. There's a 99% chance I also give him metal goat horns. I could instead make his clothes sort of stitched together,  Frankenstein from Soul Eater comes to mind here. I had an idea to give Doc long hair and white streaks, similar to Frankie’s hair to get more variety in the hermits. 

Etho

I've seen a lot of kitsune/general fox spirit Etho lately! I’ll probably do something like that. For his design, I'm definitely going to give him fur around his coat and maybe even boots. I’m also thinking about giving him a lot of zippers or something. He could even have a snowflake patch on his jacket. 

False

She’s a dragon, if not, a robot similar to Robecca Steam. False would have goggles, cogs and gears and all kinds of bits and bobs. She's also doing river stuff in season 10 so she'd probably be a river dragon. Some of the water monsters have fishnets in their designs so I’d throw She’d have tall boots, around the same length as Ghoulia's or Draculaura in G1 and the plants would be the heel and maybe the lacing. I’d like to draw her with a long tail and horns.

Gem

I think in Gem’s case, since she's a mariner this season, she could be a ghost lost at sea. I could also make her a plant monster considering her love of cottage core and the fact I don't want to have too many ghosts. Another option is just make her a deer, but a pirate deer. My last idea is to make her some kind of gem monster considering her name. I could throw in some purple crystal earrings or put gems in her hair. There are also a lot of water monsters too but I think she’s specifically a mariner and would get rope, anchor details and possibly some bait on her hat.

Grian

I want to give him wings and the obvious choice is harpy here but there are a lot of other cool bird monsters! But, harpy is the best choice since in Season 10, he's living by the sea and harpies are very sea-based. He's gonna get sea motifs as well such as potential fish bones and fishing line. This is the third hermit in a row with water motifs so I need to change it up a bit.

Hypno

I could make Hypno a zombie since in Monster High, there was an antagonist named Moanica who could control people. Alternatively, I make him a gorgon. Not really much thought behind that other than, I should make at least one hermit a gorgon. Lastly, I might make him a vampire. Some vampires are hypnotic and he's very covered up. He seems like a studs and belts kind of guy. I'll probably draw some inspiration from visual kei and goth fashions.

Impulse

I'll make him a robot since he is in a cyberpunk dystopia. His style is going to reflect that and be very futuristic and colorful. I saw a few ideas of what a cyberpunk style is and I will take some inspiration for his silhouette. He'd have purple lines across his body in his season 10 skin so I’ll incorporate that into my Monster High design. I could make an i on his face or something like that just to showcase it is in fact, Impulse. 

Iskall

I don’t really have a good sense of who Iskall will be. I came up with a troll, werewolf, dragon, frankenmonster or robot. THe lasty two were based off the fact the skin has a bionic eye. He could have bolts and nails and that kind of thing as a motif since Doc isn't using it. If he was a frankenmonster he would have to be a light blue color sort of like G3 Frankie. I think that way, the green of his clothes would be more noticeable.

Jevin

Jevin is clearly a slime/goo monster. The male goo monsters of Monster High are legit just goo with faces. Gooliope isn't much of a help since she is very circus themed. I think adding some checkered Vans and skull decorations to the end of his hoodie will help make it feel like he is in the Monster High universe. Maybe making his hoodie in the Monster High pink and black could help make it more Monster High-esqe. Another option is to add bones in his slime or something along those lines.

Joe

This is one I have had brewing in my mind for quite some time. He's a Jhost. But this season he is a Juppet because he is inhabiting the body of a puppet to control via ghostly possession. He is the most Monster High esque. Fishnets, check. Colored hair, check. Chains, check. Yeah, Joe has it all. He has colored glasses too. Studded belts and bracelets, might as well throw some in. Joe's skin is a light blue and his hair is green. His boots and neck are weighed down by chains but because he is a ghostly specter it does not affect him. I imagine he has really big pants and chunky boots. Maybe I make his fingers black. I'd like to add some writing aspects to him. Perhaps an ink and quill or something like that on his bracelets. I'd think Joe would be really meta and have cute little ghost earrings. The Juppet can be spooky too, maybe there’s a plastic chain and ball or a big ghost symbol on the shirt. I'll probably have to simplify these ideas later but just imagining the possibilities.

Joel

I've seen tanuki Joel but I'm leaning more towards ogre Joel since his skin is literally Shrek. I could add little cherry blossoms or something on his clothes. I think he'd have a cyber sort of silhouette though but now this is another monster with futuristic elements to him. I'll give it some more thought. He could actually be a bit more casual in his outfits. Perhaps socks and sandals and a rolled button up.

Keralis

I really want to do a plant monster and Keralis seems like a smart pick but he is also good at doing modern styles of building. He's out here building ships and airplanes. He could be a vampire. Or maybe mothman. Alternatively, a spider monster and he has eight eyes. Either way I'd give him some eye motif. I'd think if he was a spider, instead of just flowers on his shirt, he'd have spiders and flowers. Currently my inspiration are orbweavers. 

Mumbo Jumbo

I guess he could be a vampire. I mean he lost his soul and his middle name is Kills a Lot. He would be the most Monster High vampire. They're all kind of preppy and he has a suit. It would be pretty easy to add some bat motifs, possibly even some lace. I could go more retro or maybe a bit regal and regency-esque.

Pearl

Alien? Werewolf? Moth? I don't know. Another option is a plant monster since she is going solarpunk this season. I'll probably stick to the first three options since her name is literally Pearlescent Moon. I'd give her some moons and stars in her clothes. The only alien I can remember from Monster High was Astronova and the only reason I want to do this idea is because of her season 9 base. I think she's going to have a button up blouse of some kind.

Rendog

He's a werewolf. He will be wearing gold and possibly have wolf tracks or scratches on his clothes. I think his jeans will be very distressed. Perhaps he's also got gold dogtags and studded bracelets. Maybe even bone motifs can make it onto a jacket or something.

Scar

I think he'd be a gargoyle. His scars could be cracks in the stone. Plus he's the POE POE and Rochelle was a hall monitor if I'm not mistaken. He's gonna wear some adventurous outfit like Steve Irwin. In terms of his actual monster design, Scar is more in line with Rochelle in that he will have small wings and no horns. Maybe he is even missing part of his wing or ear. I think for a cute addition I could add something relating to animals on his clothes. Maybe like a snake trim, birds, even a giraffe.

Skizz

He's also a gargoyle since he's the other half of the POE POE. He's made of stone and it is therefore harder to get around. Skizz would have a lot of rips and tears in his outfits. I think he'd have wings on the collar of his shirt or something similar. Maybe even on his shoes. He'd have large wings, a tail, big clawed feet and possibly horns. I think one of his horns would be broken and be replaced with bronze or something since he's not very careful about his stone body.

Stress

I want to make a plant monster now and stress has flowers on her hair and clothes. I imagine her hair is vines, leaves and flowers of many kinds. For example, some butterwort, oleander and morning glory. I think she is a very pink monster. I'm toying with the idea of wooden skin such as the Thornwillows although I'm not sure. I think she could also have some butterfly or bee designs on her clothes. I had an idea about giving her petal eyelashes or something like that but I’m not sure if it’s too far out for Monster High. 

Tango

He's a fire elemental like Heath. I imagine he's got a checkerboard pattern belt or something going on. Also, I think he would have some zipper action going on in his clothes, namely his pants. I'm sort of imagining Tripp pants or something similar. I'm drawing a bit of inspiration from blacksmiths too so he could have rolled up sleeves or a jacket around his waist. His boots could also have some flame detail.

Wels

Maybe a firebird of some kind? Or just about any fire-related monster. He's not quite an elemental but he's got the heat. I could also do a dullahan or headless horseman situation but I'm running out of ideas. I may opt for the fire idea since I don't have a lot of monsters with fire elements. Plus some glowing molten armor could be cool. I think it'd probably be like the shoulders, boots and hands that are covered in metal armor.

xB

Some sea monster of some kind. Based loosely on the Minecraft Guardian since it's XB's colors. He gets fishbones and sharp fangs and claws. I think he would have some tentacle or wave design on his pants. I could also give him a shark tooth necklace or something like that.

Xisuma

He could be a skeleton or a werewolf. Either way, he’d probably have a skeleton design on his top. Another idea is to make him a river monster and give him a helmet similar to Gil in G1. I’m a bit opposed to this since I have a lot of water based monsters already. My other idea was to make him a ghost and give him a mask or be faceless like Kiyomi. 

Zedaph

I suppose he would be some kind of saytr? But I think maybe a Yeti instead because he's kind of in his own world. Also, this way I can do some more with ice motifs and not have to rely on chains and studs for the 100th time in a row. He's definitely got a lot of fur too.
