lee yoonho has always been a handsome boy.

ever since he was young, it was all anyone ever complimented him on. he was a chubby, cute baby and since he’s the only boy in the family, many showered him with adoration. his grandparents loved having a boy grandchild and since he’s the youngest of the whole family at that time, he’s spoiled even more.

things change when his mother enters him into a whimsical infant contest, where judges ranked the look of babies. yoonho won first place and a pretty hefty prize and thus began his career in the spotlight. where yoonho is practised and poised to sit in front of cameras ever since he was young. he became used to it at an eerily young age. if it wasn’t his three older cousins tormenting him with makeup, his parents were entering him into other contests, eager to see if he could win.

and he does. he wins and wins, garnering more money for his mother and father before he can even comprehend the world around him.

he becomes a child model, signed to an agency to promote pokemon snacks. it’s cutsey but yoonho just does what he’s told, not really sure about anything but also too young to really do anything. his parents bribe him with food after the shoots and it works well. he earns a decent amount of money that he’ll never actually see, but it’s not like his mind could have cared that much.

it all begins when he starts school. he clearly doesn’t have that much time to be consistently modeling and his parents argue about it. his mother, despite being so proud of her son, wants to keep him in school while his father thinks that the modeling career would be more successful. yoonho doesn’t like the shouting and screaming- it hurts his head and makes him cry. sometimes he goes to sleep listening to their fights at night time, when they try to be quiet but get too heated. but yoonho is still happy and he still loves his parents so much.

but things changed when yoonho was ten years old and his mother was in a devastating car crash. she had been driving from gimhae into the city when there had been a devastating fight between two territorial pokemon. cars and others got caught up and when the police were finally able to identify her car, it was clear she had not made it. yoonho was completely destroyed but his father kept trying to push him to model more and more.

eventually yoonho became to be punished for refusing to work. he missed days of school at a time and coming back to the school with cheeks bruised and knees wobbling when having to run with the other students. he begins to grow up along as his father begins to spend more and more of yoonho’s savings on liquor and buying himself dates. yoonho stays home and studies and gets yelled and screamed at when his father comes home.

because of the bruises on his face, many of his original companies started to back yoonho out of his deals, which only caused the beatings to continue.

on the night of his eleventh birthday, he ran from his house, limping and crying into his hands as he pushed himself into the forests near his home. he hides himself, hearing his father screaming for him. he holds his hands over his mouth, sobbing to himself. it takes him some time to suddenly hear some tall grass shaking and moving around him. he’s terrified, but what pops out of the grass surprises him. he blinks and sees a small eevee come out. the poor thing is limping, whimpering softly.

the pokemon looks a lot like yoonho does right now, pitiful, crying in pain and without anyone else. and that’s when yoonho decides to actually do something about it.

he puts out his hand, letting the eevee sniff him. the pokemon is shy at first, unsure. but it’s not until the eevee moves closer and eventually rests its forehead on his hand. his body lights up, and immediately he scrambles to hold the precious baby in his arms. even though it hurts, he manages to get back up onto his feet and tries to remember the last place he’s seen a pokemon center. and when he gets inside, he meets a tan boy who looks terrified for the poor eevee. but at least the eevee is healed up much better.

he doesn’t notice the boy’s lingering eyes. he only realizes that he’s a student at his school, an upperclassman.

he gets home and sneaks the eevee inside. he manages to hide eevee for a few weeks until one night, when his father corners him in his bedroom. his eevee hides under his bed, listening and watching their feet. yoonho is hit once, twice and he waits the third time when he hears his father stumble backwards. the little eevee stands between them, the tiny thing growling angrily at his father. at first he’s shocked, and he tries to push the sweet thing away from their fight. his father gets angrier but his eevee continues to protect him no matter what.

a few weeks later, he comes home to his home trashed and his father gone. he grabs some clothes, packs up what he needs, brings his eevee and heads to a local orphanage in busanjin. they take him in and in feburary of the new year, 2005, he is placed into a nice foster home to a couple who cannot have children. and here is where his life begins to turn around.

he comes back to school, bruises faded from his lips. he opens up more. he meets again with the upper classman who saved his eevee’s life. they grow close. his name is lee sunbin. they become great friends until they choose different high schools. but that’s okay.

yoonho focuses school and battling equally, he works especially hard in both of those things. as his time continues through school, he continues on working to collect more pokemon. he collects a bunch but ends up releasing most if he finds there is little connection between them. before long he has a team that is something that’s proud of.

sunbin and he keep in contact and once he graduates high school he takes a year doing odd jobs. one day he’s walking through seomyeon and is street-cast into a modeling agency. they realized he had been a child model before hand and they gave him a chance to begin advertising for some really cute children’s snacks. eventually the jobs kept coming and now yoonho is known for modeling for trainer gear, equipment and clothing, even sometimes modeling now with his beautiful sylveon by his side.

when sunbin wanted to found a club, yoonho did his best to listen in to his friend’s requests. eventually, when the battle club was made, yoonho wanted to be part of it so that sunbin wouldn’t share all responsibilities and burdens. and since the club was founded in 2014, yoonho has been dedicated to it as well as his own work.

now he lives alone, modeling and looking after his pokemon as if they were his children. his primary focus is to continue with the battle club, advance his career and potentially go about and find some more pokemon that would fit well with his current roster list.
