😕 Have they ever said ‘I love you’ without meaning it?

                         so where LUKAS is concerned - yes. every single time he tells his sister he loves her. it’s not an outright lie, not really at least - but he can’t truly feel anything. in truth, what he feels for his sister is the closest to love he can ever get, but it’s not actually love. it’s… an imitation of it, i suppose? adrienne is the person he cares most about in the world, so it’s only natural that what he feels for her is the closest to love he can possibly guess.

                         now as for ADRIENNE - well. also yes. she’s spent over a decade having various flings with people ever since the death of her werewolf high school boyfriend, and there have been a handful of them that she’s claimed to love - but she’s never truly loved them. but unlike her brother, she’s never intentionally lied. if she’s ever said it to someone, she’s honestly believed that she loved them - but ultimately, she hasn’t.

what adrienne smells when coming into contact with amortentia changes on who i’m writing with / what the plot within their verse is, and when it comes to the GROUP VERSE, she hasn’t found anyone yet ( despite her affair with a teacher, of course ) so i really can’t come up with anything unless she potentially finds a love interest in the group.

but in BOTH verses / no matter who he’s writing within their verse, lukas ALWAYS smells a mixture of vanilla, caramel, and parchment. why? because that’s what adrienne smells like. I SWEAR it’s not an incest-y thing - he smells it because he really isn’t capable of loving anyone other than his sister, but since he’s not identical to tom ( who can’t smell anything when presented with amortentia ) the potion more or less shows him ANYTHING he loves, as opposed to the person he’s IN LOVE with.

HEADCANON: the twins + codependency

Though it’s not sitting on the surface in the way they present themselves, there’s a reason for both of them to act the way they do. It’s been that way from pretty much the beginning. Lukas dotes on Adrienne because they’ve always been on equal ground- they were born together, they’ve always been by each other’s sides, and for the most part, they were never separated for more than an hour at a time.

Adrienne indulges Lukas and puts up with all of the terrible things he’s done and will do because no one’s ever loved her. It sounds kind of like a cop out- but in a way, it’s completely true. Apart from their blue eyes, they take most things from their father’s side of genetics, and so whenever their mother looked at them, she saw them more as a connection to the man she was hopelessly in love with than two actual people. She wasn’t a bad mother by any means, but they were keenly aware of their meaning in their mother’s lives, and while it didn’t faze Lukas in the slightest, it definitely hurt Adrienne a great deal.

And then their father, when they met him, seemed completely disappointed in everything she did, and was hardly a father at all. There are other aspects to it that I won’t get into ( his abuse and manipulation of his daughter, for instance ), but ultimately, Adrienne was left completely alone in the world apart from Lukas. Lukas was their father’s golden child, even if he hated his father because of how the man treated their twin.

So he became a father figure for her. It was utterly idiotic and unhealthy, but he saw that his sister needed one, so he took it.

He hated physical contact more than just about anything in the world, but when she was upset and needed comfort, he moved over in bed and made room for her, wrapped his arms around her despite the fact that it made his skin crawl.

And it’s all led to the point of no return, in a way. Adrienne has never had anyone who truly cared about her apart from her brother, so she can’t function without him, because a world without him in it means that she’s completely alone. And Lukas has spent so long taking care of his sister that he wouldn’t know what to do without her to watch. He’s spent nearly three decades carefully positioning himself in a room so he can always see his sister, even if she’s not beside him, just so he can make sure she’s okay, and I have a strong feeling that if she was ever dead, he’d have more than a few moments of panic when he looked for her and she wasn’t there.

As soon as Adrienne starts setting up the nursery, she gets a small wolf plushie with a B embroidered on it’s front paw for her baby. And she probably never acknowledges it out loud, but if anyone happened to be over when she thought she was alone/etc, they’d probably overhear her talking to her baby bump with the stuffed animal in her hand, and telling him that it’s “who his father was supposed to be” etc, bc it’s been ten years and she’s still not over her father killing Bryce when they were together in high school.

Alright, since Lukas is an incredibly picky and difficult character to ship with, I’ve decided to start keeping a comprehensive list of fcs he’s attracted to. Now, of course, the character behind the fc is just as important as the face itself, since he lives in a very special place where ultra submissive (aka have no backbone towards him) characters annoy him, while ultra alpha/masculine (aka call him out on his shit and stand up to him) characters also annoy him, as well as the fact that sexual attraction is almost nonexistent for him.

Mona Lisa: Do you like to look neat and orderly? How long does it take for you to get ready for the day?

                         Adrienne works incredibly hard at making sure she looks put together. As for how long it takes her to get ready- it depends on what she’s doing. If she’s going out / meeting clients or important people, then she can take upwards of an hour. But if she’s just running a few errands, it’ll take her ten minutes, tops, just to put on clothes and brush her hair before she runs out the door. Her vampire genes means that her skin is completely clear, so makeup isn’t something she has to worry about to look put together anyway. It’s just something she likes to do.

                         Alternatively, Lukas enjoys looking put together as well, but considering his wardrobe consists of either slacks or dark jeans, button downs or sweaters, ( with very few t-shirts ) it means that he really doesn’t need to take more than five minutes to get dressed and look good in the morning.

Nicoline Sweetmeadow was a French socialite who immigrated to England, and a woman who had only ever loved one man. She loved to cook, and be an otherwise very homely woman, despite her upbringing and easy wealth. It was shortly after she’d moved to England that she was introduced to a man who called himself a Lord- she had no knowledge of the English monarchy beyond who the queen was, so it was easy enough to believe him. Of course, the man- Lord Samuel Whitham- was a Lord, except not of the British monarchy. He was the Lord of the British branch of the worldwide government pertaining to vampire society, so it wasn’t necessarily a lie.

The couple dated for a few years before Nicoline announced that she was pregnant with his child, and he had left before she discovered that she was carrying not one child, but two. Though he disappeared from her life, she found the joint bank account they had previously had filled with large sums of cash each month. Though she didn’t know why he would leave, or especially why he’d continue to support her after leaving, but she allowed him to support her anyway, and even signed his name on the children’s birth certificates.

Growing up with a family of just a single mother led to quite a hectic household. Though their mother didn’t work- as their absent father wordlessly provided everything they would possibly ever need- Nicoline was a very busy mother. Lukas was a quiet child who didn’t fuss much, but when he got to be a toddler, his tantrums were dramatic and often led to a mostly destroyed house she would have to clean up. This left Adrienne and Lukas to entertain themselves, though the youngest Sweetmeadow child ( Adrienne ) didn’t mind. Despite the fact that she adored her mother like any little girl would, she enjoyed the company of her twin much more. It was then that their codependency began forming- Adrienne couldn’t imagine life without her brother at her side, and Lukas found that his sister was the only one who could calm him down when he got hectic, no matter what may have caused it.

Adrienne and Lukas are both extremely adept fighters, but because Lukas is so protective of her, Adrienne doesn’t get much of a chance to actually fight. Usually Lukas does the fighting, and because of that, he’s the more skilled fighter.

Adrienne is kind of a slob. Her things are constantly all over her penthouse, and rarely ever where they’re supposed to be. If there are ever small moments of organization in her life, it’s usually from Lukas tidying up their penthouse. They share the space, and Lukas is almost anally tidy. Everything has a place, and everything is in it’s place where he’s concerned.

Neither Adrienne nor Lukas can actually ride a bike. Lukas was never interested in learning, which meant that when they were younger, Adrienne never bothered to learn because she didn’t see the point in doing something without her twin brother.

Headcanon #14

Adrienne is a firm believer in the erotic touch. Sex is inconsequential to her- she can do just as fine without it as she can with lots of it every day, but she believes that touching in a relationship is more important than sex, and that if done correctly, you can feel a touch long after the other person has gone. (Which I got inspiration from in one of the videos I posted of Lukas’ faceclaim from the Following.)

She craves being close to someone more than she craves an orgasm. Relaxing in a bath with someone, her back pressed to their chest, is probably one of her favorite places to be in a relationship, and absolutely nothing makes her feel more fulfilled than said someone washing her hair, or even (as odd as it sounds) shaving her legs, if done correctly (as in, their hands running over her legs, etc, basically just romantically).

Words don’t even need to be exchanged for hours with her partner, as long as they were touching. Such as being curled up on the couch together, him (or her) reading a book,- they can be silent for hours as long as his/her hand is running over her arm, or something equally simple and romantic.

As an added note, the most sensitive area of her body is her stomach. It’s probably linked to her eagerness to become a mother, but her partner’s hand rubbing over her stomach is probably one of the best feelings she’d ever experience.

Headcanon #11

The twins are the ultimate study in nature vs. nurture. They were raised the same by their mother, but have been polar opposites from the very beginning. Despite what some studies might show, in their case nature prevails above all, because nothing could have made Lukas what he is other than his nature.

Some legends would describe their birth as a separation of one soul into two bodies, Adrienne portraying the good side, while Lukas portrays the bad, which is why they are so dependent on each other- because they’re essentially two halves of the same person.

The largest reason Carter is safe from Lukas’ rages is because he’s a demon and ~essentially~ can’t be killed by a temperamental hybrid. He’ll never outrightly admit it, but secretly Lukas is extremely grateful for that, because it means that he can truly be himself around Carter.

While Lukas will more often than not be pretty straight-faced with Carter, the only time he ever shows any real anger is if Carter mentions Adrienne. In a certain twisted way, Lukas doesn’t want the demon to have anything to do with his sister, because he doesn’t want him to taint her.

Any time they spend together is mostly consistent of Carter trying to rile Lukas up, and Lukas just responding as blandly as he can, mostly unimpressed and nonreactive. It’s the closest Lukas really gets to being nice to anyone.
