BONUS: Chuuya’s promise

“Chuuya.”

It was after a dangerous mission, causing mutiple injuries and a possible death if they hadn’t been so careful. Dazai’s tone was almost devoid of any emotion, startling the redhead. His partner was hardly serious, and when he was, it usually meant something bad. The rose colored wine swirled as he fumbled with the glass.

“Can you promise me something?”

The gravity user scowled, “I’m not doing your dirty work.”

“If anything happens to me, keep her safe.”

“Oi, Dazai, stop being so—”

“Please.”

Dazai’s bandages came loose as he gripped the other tightly. Looking into his eyes, Chuuya saw the fear and desperation.

Quick heads-up, for these I’m going to make the sibling younger.

Dazai Osamu

Before joining the Port Mafia, you and Dazai are practically joined at the hip. After Mori takes the boy as his protege, however, the ties immediately loosen; Mori’s doing, most likely. As the years wear on Dazai grows a bit colder every time you see him; he still tackles you in a huge bear hug whenever you meet, but it just feels more and more forced. Eventually he stops spending the holidays with you; he’s too busy, he claims, even though you often see him blowing off work to go drinking with Odasaku and Ango. Soon you drift so far apart that ‘Dazai’ is little more than just a name to you.

After Odasaku’s death, however, all of that changes. He shows up on your doorstep, out of breath and face stained with tears, falling into your arms before you can even ask what happened. Blood-stained hands ball into fists against your clothes; as you sink to the floor, Dazai begins to weep. All of the hurt, the abandonment between you two fades away just like that as your arms lock around him and let him cry, and cry, and cry. When he finally collects himself enough to say “we need to leave, now” you don’t ask questions; things aren’t the way they were before, but it’s close enough.

When Dazai joins the ADA, he drags you along, too. He knows it’s not the safest place for you, perhaps, but he feels better if he can keep an eye on you. Plus, this way, he’s got someone around that’s always willing to help him pull pranks on his unsuspecting coworkers.

Embarrassing you is Dazai’s favorite pastime. He’s got a few naked baby pictures stashed away (lord only knows where he found them) and he loves to pull them out at every opportunity, pointing out every mole and strange birthmark on your tiny body. When he’s not flashing your toddler nudes he’s waxing poetic about your ‘disgusting habits’; even if it’s not true he loves to lament to your ADA coworkers about how you eat from dirty dishes or that you fart in your sleep.

Dazai insists on eating meals together. Anything from donut holes and a quick coffee or microwaved cup noodles to a carefully crafted udon bowl warrants spending time together. Dazai uses this time as a daily catch-up; he’s not one being joined at the hip anymore, but checking in on you is one of his top priorities. He dreads drifting apart again; reconnecting with you is one of the best things he ever did and he’s not about to let your bond slip away. Plus, if you eat together he can flick crumbs in your hair and that’s always fun.

Nakahara Chuuya 

From the moment Chuuya saw you, it’s always been just you two against the world. All your lives, you’ve been partners in crime—literally. When you were young, scrawny kids living on the street you’d work together to empty some rich guy’s pockets while he was engrossed in a phone call or lift a quick dinner from a convenience store’s shelves. Now that you’ve graduated petty crime to an Executive’s position in the legendary Port Mafia, your coordinated crimes have naturally evolved a bit; the two of you are renown for your extraordinary teamwork. Even if you don’t have the destructive force of your brother’s previous Soukoku partnership, you definitely work together better when it comes to everything else.

Anyone that even looks at you the wrong way is immediately Chuuya’s enemy. He’d protect you with his life; it’s what big brothers do, after all. No matter how small the threat, Chuuya crushes it. If you end up bleeding on a mission, your big brother’s fuming; he obliterates the enemy like the Angel of Death. “I’m your big brother,” he points out after the carnage is over. “It’s my job to protect you.”

Teaching you to drive is one of Chuuya’s top priorities, and as soon as your feet can brush the pedals he takes you and an old car out to a deserted field and climbs in the passenger seat. “There’s the gas, there’s the break,” he points out. “Don’t kill us.” Even if his lessons end with both of you nauseous and nervous to ever set foot in a car again, you can handle a car pretty damn well by the time Chuuya’s through with you.

Whenever Chuuya’s craving a drink he drags you along to the closest bar. “It’s on me,” he offers, pushing a shot in your direction. “Let’s get shit-faced.” Who knows what happens during your drunken adventures; the two of you rarely remember. You always wake up on the floor in the morning fighting a hangover, left with only foggy memories of intoxicated karaoke and bruised knuckles from picking fights.

Chuuya treats your birthday like a national holiday. Whenever Mori lets him, he takes the day off. After a huge breakfast—he whips up your favorite meal—Chuuya takes you for a drive, letting you blast the radio as loud as you want. From there, the day’s all yours; wanna browse the food stands lining the docks? Done. Rather steal someone’s yacht? Chuuya’s down. After a day of adventure, Chuuya brings you home to round out the day with a giant cake lined with candles and a gorgeously wrapped present; he picks the perfect gift every year.
