I think about Steve's comment about the Russian bunker tunnels being a fire hazard at least once a week. Why was he ready to spit off all the ways that the Russian bunker broke fire safety codes at the drop of a hat? He did not deliver that line like it was a little funny haha. That was the delivery of a man who has studied the local fire safety codes and/or who immediately assesses the points of egress of every building he enters. Was young(er) Steve one of those kids obsessed with historical disasters? Did he learn about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and Iroquois Theater fires and develop a fear of getting trapped in burning buildings? When Starcourt goes up in flames is he panicking? Was he the person ushering everyone to the nearest fire exit?
