i've talked about josh's "incidents at school" (both reported ones on his record and ones not reported / not indicated in-game) as being "disturbances" such as primarily fights followed by class disruptions (talking to himself, distracting others, arguing with teachers, generally displaying behavior not understood by his peers or teachers, or displaying behavior enough to get him sent to the office (principals and counselors)).

i've also commented on how it's kind of ironic that he is so protective yet he and chris both have the lowest bravery stats despite both displaying a lot of individual bravery. i don't think josh being scared of the things he's seeing as a way of lacking bravery. outside of what he is dealing with internally, he outwardly is pretty brave.

i've remarked many times on how he can act brave for sam or more cowardly depending on the player choice for sam, but ultimately, no matter what, he acts brave with her by separating her from "the threat". above, we can see he has no problems jumping into a fight to dissolve it, even though he (likely) anticipated this fight to happen (relying on this separation that needed to occur for his plans with mike and jess by either being through mike and matt having tension or emily and jess fighting).

we know he intends to separate them because he mentions in either dialogue branch that he told mike previously about this guest cabin.

josh is also a master of microexpressions. these are intentionally placed within the game. he does a very foretelling microexpression with sam, which is also in the remake and the original release, meaning it's intentional. you can see that here.

it's a subtle shift, but his expression before are much different, more in the moment, but this is a quick frame change that shows him more confident, not quite smirking (but somewhat close), as if appeased with the outcome. he wanted this to happen.

I've redesigned Lewis' papa!

EDIT 05/06/2024: I altered Reese's gender/sex symbol as he is the one who had Lewis' egg and I HC Funk trolls to be intersex.

There were aspects of Reese's initial portrayal that I wasn't happy with, so I re-drew and redesigned him.

As you can see, I've also changed the spelling of his name and stage name as well as given him a nickname.

And yes, I gave him a doggy tail.

Let’s talk about Ezreal’s abandonment issues.

The death of his parents had really given Ezreal some nasty Abandonment issues throughout his life.

There’s an understanding that they died on the job, but with him being at such a young age when it happened, when the letters stopped coming, when his parents were claimed to be missing and bodies not recovered and the sudden adoption/permanent custody from his uncle, it blossomed some abandonment issues, especially because even twelve years later, their bodies still were never recovered and they are still ‘missing’. On one hand Ezreal believes they’re dead ( they are ), but because of their status he also has something clawing at his brain that makes him think they just straight up abandoned him with his uncle for whatever reason.

It’s because of this that Ezreal is so outgoing. That he is so over the top and tries to be everybody’s friend for the most part. Why he latches himself onto the other Heartsteel boys like his life depends on it. Because he’s afraid other people will just leave, too. But if he keeps their lives interesting by being spontaneous & obnoxious, perhaps they’ll find him interesting enough to stay.

This also makes dating VERY HARD. Ezreal and dating is complicated. Fucking around is one thing because he can have a ‘no strings attached’ mentality, but when he actually develops feelings for someone, that gets really scary. If they reject him? Abandonment issues. Break up with him? Abandonment issues. So he gets insufferable in a way that he sort of hopes would push people away—and if they go, he knows it wasn’t worth it. If they stay, he gives it a chance, but he comes off as clingy because of it, and he can be really anxious at times when he does something ( esp cause his love languages are acts of service/physical affection ) because he doesn’t want to seem as ‘too much’ or push his partner away if they’re in a good place because he constantly feels like he’s walking on eggshells with himself. Is he giving too much? Is he too affectionate? It’ll put him in a spiral sometimes.

important details to note:

he was studying psychology, which makes sense in two ways: both for him to understand himself, but also to make better movies. simply put, he wants to be good at what he will eventually be doing professionally. i also sometimes have him minoring in some sort of either creative writing or business. i think that, while he wants to produce movies, he wants to also be part of writing scripts and truly just the whole "process" of making a movie. we can see he is multitalented in the film industry, from writing a script to executing props and effects to acting, which makes sense to my headcanon that he was originally intended to be a child actor, but that just didn't pan out for multiple reasons.

he is known as the oldest of the group, which is true, but it's cute that they kind of acknowledge it even though he's not really that much older than any of them. it's also endearing to think he looks at chris like a little brother more than just a best friend. josh definitely embodies "big bro" energy. it's noted that he loves taking the helm, organizing events, and making sure everyone is having a great time.

he honed his party animal streak back in his freshman year, thus he dropped out in his sophomore year. i can say with some confidence he was probably becoming more of a party guy back in even his senior year of high school, depending on who you ask.

he is described as having a warm and friendly personality. combined with his personality traits of complex, loyal, and loving, this makes sense for him. he was struggling a lot with his mental health, but he was never actively a "bad guy" before until dawn. he was just "a guy" who happened to have insanely good resources combined with the wrong care despite the (at least start of) best intentions (it seems based on the track record of working with josh psychologically over the years from earlier youth). at least pre-revenge, he wasn't actively looking to really hurt anyone, and he clearly didn't want to "hurt" anyone in a way that didn't totally kill their ego, which is what i think he was aiming for ultimately: shame, humiliation, and an ego death, which is hard to recover from. he was going to "make them go viral", which is like, his whole prank is another post in and of itself, but the basis of this is that, before his plan, he was a pretty solid friend, brother, and likely saw himself as some sort of protector. the protector becomes the predator.

his stats also got a wild boost from pokerus, and honestly those stats also look startlingly like those of the legendary wolves.

Childe as someone who's bloodthirsty without reason is but a misreading of his behavior and motivations. However, there is something turbulent moving inside him, begging for change and greatness, fueling the constant itch for battles.

Battling is something tangible, how he can measure each milestone, how he can create through destruction and seize control.

Despite how easy it is to equate him to someone violent for the sake of violence at first glance, he yearns for meaning, purpose. If Ajax came out of the Abyss throwing hands, it was not a reflection of today's Childe's stance, rather it was his natural assessment of reality outside of a place that demanded his guard to be up at all times, and lashing out was how he'd learned to fend danger off. He's since quelled that side, has matured and learned when to employ force, has begun to stride towards properly honing himself into the weapon that'll build the world back from the debris created by itself.
