For a few obvious reasons, I am particularly fond of this celebration of institutions of higher learning. Attending a Historically Black College & University was not my last option, it was my FIRST CHOICE! Growing up, I had the privilege of being surrounded by graduates of Louisiana’s esteemed Southern University and A& M College and Grambling State University. These graduates represented the finest of everything life had to offer. They were examples of upward mobility and each added undeniable value to their communities.
