This is an absolute everthorne classic, painful slowburn and one of my (mod hawtnip aka Ellenka) all time faves. The author never transferred it over to ao3 & i got this sudden urge to post the old ffn link here - for the future generation, I guess. The usual canon-related warnings apply and the start is very rough, but so worth it in the end.

most popular multi-chapter fic: Somthing of Our Own, or SOO, a WIP about Haymitch and Hazelle Hawthorne with peripheral Everlark, reconstruction, and other fun post-MJ things. 

favorite story you’ve written so far: gosh, Idk. I think I like SOO best because it’s my most recent writing and it’s my attempt at a mature slow-burn between two middle-aged people with shared history and a good deal of baggage but a good deal of hope, too. it’s just flat-out compelling to me and I care about it a lot which makes it more than a little painstaking to write, haha

fic you were nervous to post: my very first one, To Have and To Hold, back in 2011 when I was in the eighth grade(!). but it’s a nice, little, bittersweet AU about Haymitch’s girl, had she and his family survived.

how do you choose your titles: agonizingly. 

do you outline: for multi-chapter stories, I do. but they’re loose outlines where I leave room to let things happen ~ organically ~ in between major plot points. I tend to be very character-driven.

Best of Luck, Mockingjay - for a horror prompt, featuring Jackson toward the brutal end of the Squad 451.

bronze legacy - a prompt about Finnick & Annie’s son that sort of explores the genetic/societal onus of carrying a late parent’s legacy. there’s a happy ending though!

The Callers from the Coffin - my first multi-chapter story, where I used Markus Zusak’s narrator Death from The Book Thief to narrate parts of Haymitch’s life that either Haymitch remembers on his deathbed or Death witnessed itself. it’s not really a crossover but I labeled it as such because there are general spoilers for TBT. it was fun to write and the reception was pretty good, though much of the character backstory within is no longer my headcanon lol

cinderella man - a short and sweet multi-chapter story where I use the Cinderella fairy tale to tell Peeta’s side of the Everlark story (or one interpretation of it, anyway).

eat your heart out - about Titus, the cannibal tribute.

Gym Class - an Everlark oneshot where Katniss accidentally (but also not) hits Peeta in the face with a dodgeball, or the origin story of Peeta’s ‘not a piece in their games’ philosophy.

let the memories be good for those who stay - my one (1) story for another fandom. it’s an AU of The Book Thief where the main character Liesel dies and her love interest Rudy lives instead. I’ve gotten many an upset comment about it, which I accept warmly. :)

A New Way to Breathe - a prompt (for shesasurvivor actually!) about Johanna and Haymitch after the war, though in this story the war doesn’t end... well... for some beloved characters. imo, this fic is best read listening to “Alone Together” by Fallout Boy on repeat.

so this is your maverick - this AU where Thresh and Rue win can be considered finished but I’d love to come back to it and do a second, final part from Rue’s perspective. only trouble is, I’ve read several great fics with this same AU that cover them going through the rebellion together and so I don’t really know what I have to add to it. we’ll see (as if it hasn’t been 8 years lmao)

Northern Lights  Tell us about some real life magic.

It’s so hard not to say the Northern Lights, because they are pretty wonderful. I’ll tell you instead: once upon a time, I lived between the UK and Hong Kong. I was very, very close to my grandad - my mother’s father. He died of a brain tumour, and I’d gone back to Hong Kong for a while. I came back to England, and I was on an early morning bus from Heathrow airport, heading back to uni. I was listening to music, half-asleep. Through the whole time my granddad had been sick, we’d kept coming back to this song that means a lot to my mum. ‘Wish You Were Here’ by Pink Floyd. One night, when my parents and I were in Hong Kong, a couple months before my grandad died, we were on the phone to him in England during a monsoon. Normally you shut the blinds to protect the windows, but we’d had a bit to drink and I don’t know, it felt like there was lightning in the air. That song came on, and my mum put my grandad on speaker, and we opened the windows to this howling storm and just, kind of shared that.

So here I am, several months later, jetlagged and alone on a bus on the motorway at about 5am, listening to music. My grandad had passed away. And that song comes on, the first couple notes. And as it does, I swear, clear as day, in a little wood off the side of the road, I saw a white hart. Absolutely white, from head to toe. It was standing in the woods and staring at the road. I have no idea how familiar you are with folklore: but normally white harts and stags, especially in British folklore, are really magical creatures. They’re the kind of thing the knights of the round table go looking for, and I don’t know how common albinism, or even deer are around east anglia. I could have been dreaming. But the coincidence of that song, and that hart, in that moment? It felt like magic to me.

I got tagged by the wonderful @hawtnip to do this! Thank you! And I was tagged quite a while ago, but it got lost in my drafts. Welp, here we are. :)

Name: Sorry, I don’t give it out online, but I will say it is not actually Brigitta. Brigitta is just very close to me spiritually.

Fandoms: Strap in, my squirrel focus makes me jump around. The main ones are Marvel, Star Wars Original Trilogy, The Hunger Games, and Harry Potter. Those I write/have written for. But it goes without saying that I love musicals, and I also fangirl for classic lit, too.

Most Popular Multi-Chapter Fic: I...have not really written a proper multi-chap. I have written one chapter in a fic I wanted to be a multi-chap. But I can’t seem to focus well enough to make it happen.

Favorite Story I’ve Written: I think that’s got to be Falcon’s Phantom. It was my first time doing a prompt/fandom event, and people were really nice! Plus, I got to write something really cute about my 1st ever OTP, Han/Leia.

Story I Was Most Nervous to Publish: Look, I’m nervous about a lot of what I write. I’m not giving anyone ammunition to target fics I’m more nervous about.

How do you choose titles? I don’t know? Sometimes they come to me. Sometimes they’re song lyrics or a phrase used in the fic. Sometimes I really need to hunt around for them.

Do you outline? I generally have an idea of where I want the story to go. Sometimes I outline it if I have specific ideas. More often I have bits of dialogue/scenes that get knitted together eventually.

Do you take prompts? Sure. I haven’t done anything prompt-related except for choosing a prompt from a list myself, but I’d be up for a request/prompt.

Upcoming stories you’re most excited to write? Oooh, that’s a hard one. Stories I wish I’ll write? Million-chapter epics, mostly about my favorite gals, Katniss Everdeen, Wanda Maximoff, Leia Organa, and Nymphadora Tonks. (I’ve got a character type, if you couldn’t tell.) Stories I might actually write soon? A couple of fluffy one-shots, mostly kidfics.

Most excited to read? I can’t think of a specific story, but I’m always jonesing for fluffy family fics and some of my smaller/less active ships--Everthorne, Remadora, HS/LO.

FanFiction.Net this is where I started. Posted my first everthorne on there. It was anxiety inducing.

Ao3 I bullied myself into figuring this site out lmaoo. Took some trial (learned through an email that RPF means real person fiction. I WAS NOT WRITING REAL PERSON FICTION SO WHOOPS. nearly half my stuff was taken down LOL.)

Most popular multi chapter fic: Soul of a ghost town this was the biggest thing I ever wrote—in terms of character, plot, and word count—and honestly, it gave me the confidence to believe I could write. Word counts used to haunt me. All it used to.

Favourite story you’ve written so far: Oh that’s hard.

Stories in limbo was my first attempt at multiple perspectives. A gen fic mostly but I love the motifs and flow.

Previously mentioned SoaGT^^ was my pride and joy for also previously mentioned reasons. I watched that story like a hawk, just waiting for feedback.

Panem sumebant: The ending. It came to me months after its original completion, and now, it’s so much better with the last chapter.

Idk if I’m allowed to pick more than one, but I’m proud of each of these for different reasons so-

So many times when I’m writing it starts so small… then grows and grows and doesn’t stop. SoaGT was like this—a five times this, one time that.

I have a 50k everthorne fic on the go rn that started out as a 500 word prompt. Wtf send help.

Fic you were nervous to post: My very first one, panem sumebant. The feedback I got from about three users is probably why I’m still writing. Thank you.

How do you choose your titles: often, i struggle so much with this. If I can’t find anything, look for metaphors or phrases/quotes/moments that really stick. A lyric. Maybe a language translation. I’ve never had a title drag me in. It’s almost always a struggle, and sometimes, much later, I hate said title 😭 but that’s okay. Helps me learn.

Do you outline: HA.

Quite amazing how organized I am. (These are digestible ones. The bigger they get the worse.)

Complete: often, I finish things before I post the. I’ve been that way from the start. All my Bellarke is complete (two are discontinued) All my Everthorne is complete… until suddenly I decide to add another chapter XD. Lonely Crowds, my Kanej, has the last chapter on the go but it will be finished. Idk my track record is pretty good I think.

Do you accept prompts: I’ve never been prompted, but lots I’ve made comes from discussion or picking my own prompts so I guess so.

Upcoming story you’re most excited to write: my OG work. Excited to finish lonely crowds, and I’m trying to finish these edits on everthorne but it’s kicking my ass.

stories you’re most excited to read: …everthorne. Young Royai😍 … Makorra… and the grishaverse fandom is just revving the engines so I’m really excited to watch this fandom grow. I’ve always been the person to walk into fandom after the explosions are simmering and the ship wars have devastated the masses so this will be fun.

1. I’m getting married in the spring!! 

wedding planning with my boyfriend of almost 5 years has been a lot of fun. it’s coming together well, and family drama/politics have been present but manageable (so far lol (not lol)) 

2. I’m graduating next semester!!

I am just so excited. I’ve been in school for so long due to transferring colleges for a better program. I like school, I am good at it, but I want out and I want to finally work lol

3. I just finished a clinical in the ICU!! 

while it was intimidating, I am not counting it out as future specialty I’d like to try. my instructor was very encouraging

4. I am behind on a lot of shows. :( but I still reblog about them since Idc about being spoiled

5. my family is celebrating Thanksgiving today, not Thursday, as per tradition lol 

6. my mom makes awesome charcuterie boards and I want to learn the craft at some point
