if warden hawke still becomes champion of kirkwall. then on the one hand he's got the Very Public Duel with Loghain Wherein He Killed That Old Man. and then like five years later there's another Very Public Duel With The Arishok Wherein He Killed That Old Man. and at a certain point one has to wonder why one keeps getting put in these Situations
#warden hawke au#hawke#dragon age#this has been a post#hawke killing loghain and putting alistair on the throne -> hawke killing the arishok and making sten the new arishok#i have no idea if the hof actually makes sten the new arishok idk how that whole thing. occurs#i also don't know that hawke would actually. recruit sten. considering sten like. killed bethany's friend#like there's a difference between an unrelated warden going 'oh a guy in a cage let's free him and later find out his life story'#and hawke going 'oh there's the brute that killed my little sister's friend and their whole family'#i just. idk i don't think he'd go for it which is a SHAME because i love sten obviously#AND if hawke had traveled with and was friends with sten that lends a whole different perspective to the qunari stuff in kirkwall

So we talked Rooks, but I am curious - do you have any Wardens, Hawkes, or Inquisitors close to your heart as well?
OH BOY DO I <- sleeper agent code activation
(this got so long so ill put it below a readmore jfshdidb)
i have a couple wardens but my most notables are
1. ISANAMI SURANA
isanami is one of my oldest dragon age characters and probably my favorite. hes a circle mage elf gone rogue, a blood mage by trade and a spellsword by circumstance. he learned quickly that while staves are handy for casting… theyre not all that practical during a swarm of darkspawn. i really missed that in da2 and inquisition, that mage classes couldnt use warrior/rogue weapons, so isanamis always been special in that hes used a zweihander before it was “cool”… fun fact! he was a woman originally, before i lost intrest in DA and forgot ab him - when i rediscovered the old ref sheets for the character, i hit him with The Transgenderification Beam and now hes a twink… smh.
also heres isanami before his redesign -> after his redesign. these two pics were drawn about 5 years apart so thats why theres such a massive glow up LMFAO. one thing i wanted to keep was that red hair + pale skin/sunken in eyes + visible scarring!
2. CILLIAN COUSLAND
pronounced KILL-ee-ann. cillian was my humble cousland who i was like ^^ ok you go through the horrors now. i made him conscript loghain, exile alistair, put himself on the throne with anora, AND he completed the dark ritual with morrigan himself so that he could kill the archdemon. he was like :) surely this is okay! im helping fereldan! dw about it! if i could tweak anything ab origins tho id probably make him conscript loghain and then put alistair on the throne tho… i feel like that couldve been an AWESOME worldstate. cillian originally was gonna be my goody two shoes guy but i started picking crazay choices for him and it just Snowballed From There.
as for hawkes…
1. MAIDA MARIAN HAWKE
maida my BELOVED. shes such an interesting character - shes red/purple on dialogue, which leads to this very brusque and aggressive nature that few get past. she and carver used to butt heads a lot as kids, but now she misses him more than anything </3 shes a rogue whos absolute ass at anything other than “cut you up like a kebab” and “punch you in the face” LMFAO. she doesnt respect nor care for the arishok past “youre a true fighter and thats commendable” and despite being a chantry die hard shes violently pro mage rights. its a weird conundrum and her/anders Get Into It often about how exactly to bring about revolution, pros and cons of violence, and what exactly it means to be pro-mage liberation. shes a very contradictory person and has her moments of contriteness but overall shes a massive sweetpea. also she looks just like her father and got her sister killed by meredith + carvers dead + leandra blames her for it all so shes just this bucket of angst most of the time
as for her design shes very warm toned, coppery and deep. i love that fuckass tony ponytail + bob haircut so that was what i based her entire face around
2. DANDELION “DANDY” HAWKE
ohhh dandy. dandy has always been on the backburner (sorry dandy) because its so hard to find inspiration for them. theyre like some sort of fae freak, bug eyed and Eerie. dandy is a mage and a bad one at that, willing to use ANY means necessary to come out on top. dandy killed anders, gave up isabella, and sent carver off to the grey wardens easy as pie - thats not to say that they dont regret it. dandys one of those characters where they dont mean to do bad things, they just dont want to die and hate being under pressure. theyre a part of my “bad timeline” which has cillian, dandy, yanna, and shea :)
and inquisitors…
1. VELARA LAVELLAN
NUMERO UNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MY QUEEN OF QUEENS MY ANGEL OF ANGELSSSSS ahem. ok im normal. she romanced solas and i used to make CRAZY animatics of her on flipaclip as a kid. literally was obsessed with the SPOT THE WHITE ELF 🧝♀️ <- thats her for FOREVER. shes a mage and first to the keeper, her voice sounds kind of nasally but hoarse, and shes just very awkward and plain. her favorite companions are cole and dorian, and the iron bull in a close third, and i feel like that sums up her personality well! she fucking HATES cullen though - truly and fully hates that guy with all her heart. he said he was a circle templar and she immediately was like KILL YOURSELF NOW!!!!!!!
her design hasnt changed much over the years but one thing ive always given her is buck teeth + long brown hair + mythals vallaslin (which was an insane choice considering the Implications in veilguard)
2. YANNA TREVELYAN
ok need i say more than these pictures. these are old old old art but yanna was one of the first DA characters i ever made so its okay. she killed her brother to take his place at the Big Meet whatever its called where divine justinia gets Exploded. she went to romance cullen but broke it off when he started getting a little too “mages dont deserve human rights”. she hates darkspawn and deepstalkers equally. ger favorite colour is blue. her bff wouldve been alistair if he hadnt gotten stuck in kirkwall. she has a weird situationship with josephine and loghain (when he shows up). she punched solas. arguably shes one of my favorite ocs ever just for that last one. she fucking hates the chantry and everything it stands for and would rather disband the inquisition entirely rather than give it up to the chantry itself.
how about you? any wardens, hawkes, or inquisitors dear and near to you? :)
#SORRY THIS TOOK FOREVER TO RESPOND TO WORK HAS BEEN CRAZAY TODAY!!!#pathogenic#theres so much info and background to all these guys thank you SO MUCH for asking!!!!!!!!!!

5 and 14 for the DA asks? :)
Thanks for asks!!!!
5. Is your inquisitor jealous that both the warden and Hawke have a mabari hound?
Harold - YES! They had them at the estate when he was a kid and he always loved the huge slobbery dogs. I think I like the idea that, after Dorian goes back to Tevinter, Harold gets a mabari to keep him company. Dorian is supportive of this until he realizes he has to share the bed with it when they do have the chance to get together.
Enarin - Eh, not so much. In the wardens shoes he would have been happy to have it along as a companion but he’s not rushing out to have a pet of any kind. Bull is all the animal he needs ;)
14. If they’d been in each other’s places would they have made the same or different choices? And who would they have romanced, if anyone? Since I answered this for Ithlen already, I’m going to do Harold this time.
In DAO, pretty straight forward attempted goody goody run. Saves the mages (of course), uses the circle mages to save Connor, convinces Zathrian to release the werewolves, puts Behlen on the throne and destroys the Anvil.
Doesn’t romance anyone. Zev would be too much and a little intimidating for Harold. Zev is definitely his wing man though, whether or not Harold wants him to be. He has a bit of crush on Alistair but realizes Alistair wouldn’t be interested and doesn’t even bring it up, it’s not the first time Harold’s been in that situation.
Oh damn, what to do with Alistair and Loghain? I’m not 100%, but I think Harold would put Alistair on the throne because he thinks he’d be a good ruler and recruits Loghain. He’s pretty crushed when Alistair cuts ties with him after that. Rejects Morrigan’s offer because he’s nervous about her magic and it’s consequences. Loghain kills the Archdemon and dies.
For DA2, Harold is team mage but cautiously. Blood magic scares him and he’s devout so it takes a while for him to come around that the templars are being unreasonable and it’s not just about blood mages.
He’d rival Merrill because blood magic and messing with things you don’t understand. He’s a bit nervous around Isabela because she’s so open about who she is in a way the Harold doesn’t let himself be. It’s an uncomfortable mirror. I think they’re still friends though and he fights the Arishok over her. He and Sebastian have a lot of philosophical conversations about the Maker, magic, and circles. They get along surprisingly well even if they do have different views on some things.
He’d romance Anders because Harold is this type of person who thinks he can fix people with enough kindness. He tries very hard to be whatever Anders needs and it’s a big drain emotionally. In the end he can’t bring himself to kill Anders, nor can accept what he’s done. Harold basically tells Anders to flee the city and leaves his fate to the Maker.

ORIGINS
All companions are recruited.
In their search for allies, the Warden comes upon the werewolves and the elves in the Brecilian Forest. They manage to find peace between the two parties, breaking the curse of the werewolves when Keeper Zathrian is killed. The elves honor their treaty alliance and aid the Warden in their battle.
During the attack on the Circle of Ferelden, the Warden brings order to the circle and chooses to side with the mages. First Enchanter Irving survives the battle, and the freed members of the Circle of Magi aid the Warden and their companions in their fight against the Archdemon.
With the help of First Enchanter Irving, the Warden finds peace at Redcliffe. Both Conor and Isolde survive the trip to the Fade, and Arl Eamon is healed with the help of the Urn of Sacred Ashes.
While looking for the aid of the dwarves of Orzammar, the Warden finds and defeats Branka, destroying the anvil of the void. Bhelen is made King. and the dwarves aid the Warden in their fight.
At the Landsmeet, the Warden frees Anora and gains the support of the Banns for Alistair's claim to the throne. Anora and Alistair plan to marry, making them the King and Queen of Ferelden. Loghain is dueled and killed personally by the Warden. The Dark Ritual is completed by Morrigan and Alistair who have a god baby.
At the final battle with the Archdemon, the Warden is the one who lands the final blow. Following, Amarathine is given to the Wardens.
During Witch Hunt, Morrigan says goodbye to the Warden and walks through the Eluvian.
During Warden's Keep, the Warden slays Sophia and lets Avernus do ethical research only.
During Awakening, the Warden takes control of Vigil's Keep. They order that it's protected during the final battle. The architect is kept alive. Nathaniel is conscripted into the Grey Wardens.
DAII
During the Fifth Blight, Hawke and their family flees from Lothering. Along the way, they meet Aveline Vallen and her husband, a templar who has been tainted by the blight. Aveline joins the party, and her husband is put to rest out of mercy. After an unfortunate and sudden attack by an ogre, Bethany doesn't survive the journey. With the help of Flemeth, the party arrives in Kirkwall.
Upon arriving in Kirkwall, Hawke and Carver barter an agreement with a band of mercenaries in return for entry to the city: one year of endured servitude and the group's leader, Meeran, would happily pay their way. After their year with Meeran is up, the two of them meet Varric Tethras, who invites them to join in on a week-long expedition into the Deep Roads for relics and riches, funded by Varric and his brother, Bartrand. Despite their previous discussions about it, Hawke forces Carver to stay behind for the expedition out of fear for his safety, and he joins Kirkwall's Templar Order in retaliation.
After realizing Isabela has been in possession of the relic (tome of Koslun) the entire time, Hawke makes a spur of the moment decision to let her keep it and flee the city. The Qunari grow frustrated and kill Viscount Dumar, launching a full siege on Kirkwall. Out of loyalty, Isabela returns to Kirkwall in the wake of the battle, handing off the tome to the Arishok and allowing the Qunari to leave. For Isabela, Hawke battles and defeats the Arishok in duel and the Qunari return to Par Vollen.
After the Idol is recovered and Bartrand is found, Hawke doesn't allow Varric to kill him or keep the idol. Hawke helps Merrill fix the Eluvian, and Merrill's clan attacks the party after their Keeper is killed. After the Chantry explosion, Hawke sends Anders away but does not kill him. During the battle of Kirkwall, Hawke sides with the mages. Both Meredith and Orsino are killed during the battle and Kirkwall's political state is left in ruins.
During Legacy, Hawke sides with Larius and kills Coryephus.
During Mark of the Assassin, Hawke aids Tallis and "the weapon" is kept from Orlais. Duke Prosper is killed by Hawke.
INQUISITION
With the help of Dorian Pavus, the Inquisitor returns from the past and brings Geron Alexius to justice. They give the mages full support in Redcliffe, and the mages join in as allies of the Inquisition. After this, Fiona finds time to create a beta test of a new College of Enchanters: the Bright Hand.
After a very eventful night in the Winter Palace, Empress Celene I of Orlais is killed as is her cousin Florianne. Control of the Empire is handed to Gaspard de Chalons, but truly remains with Celene's former lover, Briala. Briala is made Duchess of the Dales, the first elf to have claimed that title in centuries. Under Briala's rule, Orlais becomes even more harshly politically divided by those who would see the old ways of prejudice prevail and those that would see the new ones.
In the fade, the Inquisitor chooses Warden Stroud to stay as a distraction for the Fear Demon. Hawke and the Inquisition return to Skyhold safely while Stroud is never heard from again. The Inquisitor decides not to banish the Orlesian Wardens, asking them to instead join in their fight against Corypheus. This allows them to pick up the pieces and rebuild their ranks. A new Orlesian leader is appointed.
The Inquisition is officially disbanded during the Exalted Council. Leliana is made Divine Victoria, and with it, she disbands all Circles of Magi, causing much stress and tension among her Orlesian colleagues. Cassandra Pentaghast is made her left hand, aiding the Divine while also rebuilding the Seekers of Truth to govern the newly conceptualized Templar Order. The Inquisitor vows to turn their attention to stopping Solas, forming an unofficial party made up of a handful of their previous Inquisition colleagues to help.
