I've said this so many times but I really need to emphasize that Ahsoka is a bitch. She just is. I am actually a huge advocate for her being a bitch. I think she should be bitchier actually.
I am so fucking glad that they aren't trying to make her all calm and proper Jedi master in her own series. Ahsoka has had a hard fucking life. The most stable and supported she'd been since she was fucking 14 has been in the middle of a fucking warzone.
Ahsoka has had next to no one for so long, there's no way she just seamlessly transitions into relying on other people again.
I love her being unable to be emotionally vulnerable with people. Literally turning away from Hera any time she tries to connect with her.
Being totally exasperated with a padawan that's not perfect soldier.
Or her only just now allowing herself to make a home on a ship because that's the most stable living situation she's had for most of her life. Ahsoka who can't make a 'home' on a planet.
Ahsoka who cares deeply for people but only shows it by taking their burdens away from them and leaving them behind.
Ahsoka who's still fighting a war. Whose never stopped even for a moment.
Ahsoka who constantly criticises and critiques those around her but would give anything to protect them.
Ahsoka who fights like ten jedi but doesn't bother to kill the baby sith anymore because it perpetuates a cycle of murder.
Ahsoka who teeters the edge of comforting and insulting but only because she's trying so hard not to be mean.
Ahsoka who was raised by soldiers and Obi-wan's fucking sass, and Anakin that never gave out compliments.

So I re-watched Gladiator today (FoR rEseArcH) and aside from it being as amazing as I remember, it *also* made me realize there’s no way I’m surviving Gladiator 2.
I’m going to need to watch it in the privacy of my own home because if Acacius dies some gruesome gladiator death, I’m going to lose my shit.
Gladiator 1 spoilers below the cut! It’s free to watch on Amazon Prime.
One of the scenes that stands out most to me is when Commodus is telling Lucius stories and when Lucilla comes upon them. Commodus then tells a story about an emperor betrayed by his own blood and you can see Lucilla overcome with emotion as she realizes Commodus *knows* and is threatening Lucius’s life.
Ofc even tho Lucius is a child he can see/sense that *something* is happening between his mother and uncle, something that he could feel completely responsible for.
I really hope Gladiator 2 explores this. How does Lucius internalize these events as a child and how does it inform the man he is today?
Also, the whole plot to over throw Commodus involves Maximus’s men stationed in Ostia. Is that where Marcus Acacius is the entire time? Where was he when Commodus sentenced Maximus to death at the beginning of the movie? Does part of his troubled past include betraying Maximus somehow (like Quintus) or betrayal but doing nothing. So curious how they will weave Marcus into the backstory when he is “off screen” the entire Gladiator 1.

Tbh I don’t think the vibes ppl are picking up that Jace is elitist are wrong, per se, but I do think Jace expressing that Fabian has spellcaster potential is an interesting wrinkle in the “Jace is gatekeepy about sorcery” reading of his character
#shut up janelle#jace stardiamond#having some thoughts#again. overthinking the all we do is sit around and talk abt how great having innate magic is comment#I literally keep coming back to. that sounds so fake. that sounds so like he’s underselling what he’s doing. but whatever#he wants it to seem cool and mysterious but really it’s crazy and stressful

On the one hand, I feel kind of bad for Misha. He's always wanted to get into politics, and it's very obvious he's trying to pivot from acting to politics right now. But the political establishment in the US really doesn't seem interested in him at all. Having your life's passion be rejected over and over like that sucks.
But on the other hand, he's a genocide denialist, so I don't really feel that bad for him tbh 🤷♀️
#Misha#Misha Collins#op#just making some observations#having some thoughts#I ain't sorry for shit this is my blog and I'll post whatever I want

I think one of the reasons the season 19 four person TARDIS crew works better than the series 11-12 fam, is because they're all introduced at different times and in different ways.
You have Adric, who shows up three stories before any of the others, so he's pretty established as a companion. He's from a distant planet--a different dimension, even--and smuggles himself aboard the tardis. All of this informs you of his character before the whole team is assembles.
Then you have Nyssa, who appears in a full story as a one off character before she becomes an official companion. She develops connections with Adric and the Doctor, and then a personal connection to the ongoing plot when the Master steals her father's body, and so it fits naturally for her to show up partway through Logopolis.
And finally Tegan, who wanders in by accident and ends up stuck aboard. She seems a bit of a wild card, but since you know the other two companions before she appears on the scene, it's easy enough to slot her in.
Plus, for their first proper story--especially now the Fifth Doctor is on the scene--Adric as the most established companion, takes more of a back seat, and Five is still figuring himself out, which allows Nyssa and Tegan to shine and fully establish themselves.
And they all have Defined Roles. I mean, the Doctor even outlines these roles in Castrovalva, with Tegan as the coordinator, Nyssa aa the sciency person and Adric as the Maths boy, but it goes further than that. Tegan is the impulsive, emotional one. Nyssa as the steady, emotional core of the group. Adric is less defined, but he's the Annoying Younger Brother, and the Doctor is In Charge. They have clearly defined strengths and weaknesses and compliment each other in those.
But with Ryan, Yaz and Graham, it doesn't work as well. They all already know each other, and suddenly you're thrust into trying to get to know three people (plus a new Doctor, so kinda four) in one 40 minute episode. And there isn't the interaction of them meeting each other for the first time, or learning about where the other is from, or getting to know each other and thus letting the audience get to know them.
And their dynamics and roles are less defined, which means the lines blur a lot and you can just as easily substitute someone else for whoever is saying that line today.
(I ALSO think that Large tardis groups tend to work better when the Doctor has a less Bombastic/ Out There personality. The companions need to be allowed to have active roles in the story, while still letting the Doctor have agency and authority. One, Susan, Ian and Barbara also play this very well. Thirteen's team doesn't quite nail the landing, she's either Very In Charge and thus the companions don't have a lot to do, or she's so passive she doesn't feel like the Doctor and it becomes Blind leading the Blind)
#wren rambles#doctor who#classic doctor who#fifth doctor#thirteenth doctor#having some THOUGHTS#cos i love large tardis teams#og team One and og team Five are some of my favourite#and UNIT era has more regular characters than usual as well#i find it more interesting when theres more people on the tardis#but thirteens team didnt quite VIBE

haru's deaths ;
It's unknown to her at first, that she's died. To her it just feels like lost time — as if she'd blacked out. She's put off by it after the first time, when she awoke to find herself covered in a layer of bloody snow, a huge scar now on her face (healed as if it had been there for years already). With time, however, she becomes more curious and unsure of how she continues to get "lucky". Head cleaved in two, neck broken, shot to death while caught in a trap — the first three of many deaths to come. With each one, she seems to lose more time, and her belief that it's all luck begins to turn to fear. When Xiao finally comes clean about how she is dying, over and over, she doesn't take it well — at first.
As time goes on and their lives and endeavors become further intertwined, Haru thinks it wise to learn to control this power. At this point, Xiao has become more attached to Haru, and does not so much relish the idea of her experiencing death anymore times than she already had — let alone by his own hand. It's because of this that it is a hard request to hear when she comes to him about training the ability, hesitation in regards to taking a life really crossing him for the first time. Being the god of death, the Dosha, meant killing was in his blood. Everyone dies — everyone except him. And while at first he thought Haru the same as himself, it turns out that she really is dying and coming back later on. As his own powers evolve, Xiao begins to hear — and later see — the dead. This is how he eventually learned the truth about what's really happening to Haru, watching her spirit leave and return to her body with each passing. With the foreign feeling of apprehension in his gut, he halfheartedly agrees to work with her (better him than anyone else being how he justified it).
Many more deaths come, most by Xiao's (increasingly shaky) hands. With each death, Haru becomes more emboldened, the cat eventually able to recall her deaths entirely, as well as her time on the other side. The two of them learn to communicate through the other plane, allowing them to scheme up elaborate ploys down the line in order to reach their own goals. But with this confidence soon comes recklessness, Haru beginning to purposely throw herself in harm's way whenever she sees the need; a friend in danger, protecting innocents, serving a "sentence". Her deaths continue to rack up, and seeing her spirit appear in the other plane (when killed by another) begins to make Xiao feel sick. He tries not to let on how much it bothers him — it's not supposed to bother him — but it only becomes harder. The concern doesn't only rest with him, though, as Haru's abilities begin to show... side effects.
The overconfidence that forms inside Haru grows with each resurrection — until adverse side effects start to take root. While able to remember her deaths and time in the spirit plane, suddenly time seems to be taken from her elsewhere. Alive and well she begins to have lapsed time, starting in one place and "waking up" in another. She meets people, says things, does things that she can't remember at all. Her friends begin to worry, and Xiao grows concerned — ashamed, feeling like he's to blame. And Haru... becomes afraid. The fear of dying steadily returns to her, but now there was an anxiety about even being alive. Who was she when she'd lose time? Where was she? From what others would tell her, the differences between her and who she was during these blackouts was very subtle — none of them really thought too much about her behavior or caught on that something might be wrong. Because of this, it became even harder to truly discern what might be going on during these lapses, and Haru began to isolate. Fearful, she leaves her merry band — only to find herself back with them not long after. How did she return? When? Did they notice she had been gone, or had she not even been gone long? Truly scared, she begins to lash out at her friends during her waking hours, only causing more confusion as she behaves differently during her blackouts. Uncertainty snakes into her ranks, but Haru doesn't know what to do.
She can't leave, she can't talk about it, and she can't stop it from happening.

the thing about talking about the joys of praying is its often hard to point to any solid benefits, and i think that may be due to the mindset a lot of people have surrounding prayer. many people assume that prayer is meant to be transactional - ask and recieve. that's not it though, at least not for me. prayer is conversation, prayer is open dialogue between you and God, the same as it would be towards anyone else you love and respect and want to praise. sure, you ask your friends for things sometimes, but is that all you do with them? no, of course not! you offer to share your meals with them, share your problems and listen to theirs, generally you keep the dialogue open because you care. that's what praying is, it's talking to god because you want to maintain a relationship with him.
#having some thoughts#been praying more lately and it's very fulfilling honestly#like i have set times to pray just as a reminder but i'm finding myself in dialogue with the divine more and more often jsut randomly#and its really wonderful
