in general I think tone indicators arent like. evil or whatever. sometimes the ones on those big lists feel unnecessary, but also i think the format should be fluid, and people can use the "indicator" format to clarify tone regardless of whether or not they use the generally accepted "shorthand" (ex. "/nf" means "not forced", but i usually prefer doing "/no pressure". i could also do it outside of the indicator format but i do what i want. I also coined "/hell" and love that baby to death).
both of those things being said. i think that "<3 /p" is a very silly little turn of phrase. like i read a fic on ao3 and the notes has the author saying something like "thank u for reading!! <3 /p" look i KNOW you do not mean that romantically. we have never spoken or interacted and you are writing this message for any stranger who may stumble across it. that cannot be meant romantically like, at all. why are you clarifying the tone of a heart emoticon which cannot be taken romantically based on context
#'/lyr' is also a little silly to me bc imo u could just do. musical note emojis. and thatll look cuter... u can copy paste on desktop...#bearvocalizations#to clarify also. i think there is use for '<3 /p' for some people but to me it doesnt feel like. standard?#so its wild to see it as often as i sometimes do#bc like. u can love ur friends and not be romantically in love with them??#have u guys never given out valentines to every kid in ur elementary school class before...#OR LIKE. WHEN PPL TALK ABT CHARACTERS THEY LOVE AND DO THE /P#like why!!! who are u clarifying for!! we know a <3 for a fictional character isnt the same as love for a person!!#id even argue in that instance that love for fiction isnt really 'platonic' either#anyway. sometimes i go ? at the kids. old man era
