Slugcats but they’re .. man idk

Before I get into the headcanons on each slugcat, I'm going to detail how this design works without making a huge spec bio post like I've done before: Similar to my lizard design, slugcats share a common ancestry with them. Though they're more squishy and flexible, the lizards have gained similar traits such as mantles and powerful tails. Slugcats are slimy and at most, tough and leathery, with only small hairs called setae if you want to count that as fur. They have 4 mantles down their back and a thick patch of skin similar on their throat with four more protecting each limb. They have 4 antennae, the frontal tending to be long and slim and the rear tending to be club shaped. They lack any structure besides a chitinous "skull" underneath the extra skin on their heads where they house 3 beaks lined side by side and are covered by the extra skin to form lips. The extra skin is also used in to create false eyelids, allowing them to communicate with facial features. All slugcats may have a set size but can constrict and extend however they want, appearing larger or smaller than originally anticipated. And now individual headcanons:

Survivor & Monk: - both have injuries from the fall, head injury for survivor is based off a friend’s hc

Hunter: - self injury scars from trying to remove the rot cysts (hc from a friend) - due to formation on face, their lips cannot fully close

Gourmand: - tiny antennae - thick mantles

Artificer: - extra skin behind the head becomes large explosive saliva glands (appears to be an additional mantle) - appearance is due to being born in a toxic environment - face injury results in unable to close lips properly, loss of frontal and rear antenna, and deformation of eye

Rivulet: - single mantle - tail can flatten and form a wavy texture similar to arti’s arms to create a fin - pseudopupils - rear antennae are limbs covered in respiratory hairs

Saint: - leathery skin similar to that of a lizard’s, cannot close eyes due to this - long and very flexible frontal antennae - several pseudopupils and iridescent eyes

Spearmaster: - long by nature, however, cannot constrict their tail that much - extra skin on face was shrunk and beaks fused together - pseudopupils - spikes all over to ward off attackers, though the thinner spines are flexible

Redesign concepts of Webmaster and Feathers

After a year

WEBMASTER

My biggest problem with the Webmaster design is how cluttered it seems; there's just a lot going on here. So I tried to calm it down a bit; I took away one pair of legs to make him less cluttered but keep (more or less) original body lenght. And I know that in his episode Jun says “if something has eight legs, she doesn't like it,” refering to spiders, but I think eight limbs works too.

I also played around a bit with his colors and markings. As well as body structure and proportions, noting this dragon's show-off skill - spinning webs.

When he puffs up his “cheeks” just before he spits, you can hear a sticky, mushy sound - you know that something is going on inside. The muscles are moving and pushing something with a sticky, gluey consistency. I would like it to be somewhat repulsive.

When he spits silk in attack it does not come out as big ball of burning web. It's more like net in "V" shape, in form of many separate threads of silk shooted at the same time. Similar to actual spiders, but on the bigger scale. His webs also don't burn; I feel like it's an overkill.

I changed the arrangement of his forelegs slightly. I know it's not quite in line with the style of HTTYD (see Speed Spingers' front limbs) but in his case I think arranging his hands in a similar way to therizinosaurus gives him a more menacing look.

Deadly Spinners are dragons that give a very unpleasant first impression. They are not the most beautiful dragons around (at least not by the standard) and their behavior can be repulsive to some. The type of dragon that people are willing to pin an unfriendly, sometimes unfair patch on more easily than on other dragons - as many people do with spiders or snakes and other similiar animals.

Deadly Spinners don't live in large groups - either small groups or solo. But when they are in a group they have very close bonds and spend a lot of time socializing among themselves.

FEATHERS

She is a challenge to me, not gonna lie. She definitely is the most changed among my redesigns so far. She just seems very basic to me.

The most bothering thing to me about her are those "feathers". Because, Alex in s1ep3 calls these "feathers", as well as Olivia in s5ep2, wiki calls these "feathers-like scales", but they can move and are thick what implies they are more like Furies'/Night Light's head numbs? I absolutely can pass the crowns as feathers, but Queen's horns and holes in her meaty tail were here the last straw to not to

And yes, I made a shitty video because I'm really confused and wanted that confusion express lmao. I hope Tumblr won't take it down.

So idk, I wanted to clarify what the frick those things are and go from there. I had two main ideas - either give her actual feathers or quills similiar to those of Bewilderbeast. When drawning I wasn't sure about either idea but finally decided for the latter one. Feels more HTTYD-like I think? And very flammable feathers don't seem like the best survival choice when almost every other animal around can spit fire.

I reimagine Featherhides as way more nervous and skittish dragons. Changewings were mysterious but usually seemed calm and strategical. Featherhides' nature is more in type of "flee" than "fight" (tho they can get so smoke when needed, they are not defensless or smth). They are very easy to spook and sometimes will flee in panic from something very trival just to return seconds later when they realise there was no danger at all, or are curious of whatever scared them. They often make rapid little movements, much like birds - especially if something catches their eye and they are not sure what it is.

Featherhides also live in large flocks without a complex hierarchy. If they can - they run, if any of them can't - at least some of them also stay behind.

Once Feathers bonds with Alex she would be very protective of her little human.

When Featherhides mimic sounds they do not do weird things with their faces like in the show. It looks much more like like some birds do that. But that's just a sidenote.

I’ve noticed people with Sagittarius/9H placements always seem to stand out in the field they pick or in some sort of way become pioneers. E.g. Jimi Hendrix was a Sag stellium and has a reputation of a guitar God for his innovative and crazy good guitar skills. Teena Marie (Sag moon) became a beloved non black R&B singer/artist at Motown. I just feel like Sag placements are just out here breaking barriers lol.

People with trining risings all have a certain similar look!!

c'mon now. this is The Nose of All Time, famous worldwide and in the brain of one Max Verstappen. i wanted to fuck this man so bad when i was like 15 and i'm pretty sure 90% of the reason was because i love his nose so much. the arch, the structure from the front, the random freckles... embarrassingly I went on two dates with a guy in high school just because he kind of had a similar nose. don't look at me.

CHARLES LECLERC

beloved nose of a beloved boy. honestly idk what kind of witchcraft is happening with charles' facial features ever but his nose is so characteristic of him and i'm obsessed with it. love that it moves kind of like a bunny's when he talks, love the bump in the center, and love to stay being confused about how it looks like he has a button nose from the front when it's actually deceptively strong in profile.

CARLOS SAINZ

i am predictable and i don't care. gorgeous nose, adore how it's kind of hooked, and the freckles on the bridge are just an added bonus. compliments the rest of him so well and again, the subtle bump... god is real i guess. i'm such a sucker for strong features and i constantly geek out over carlos' face so, it would be cruel not to give him his flowers.

i'm sooo intrigued by this man's face at all times but his nose especially, i just love the shape of it. max already has a super strong profile and his nose compliments that really well (like imagine him with a small nose... it's actually horrifying i'm shaking). obsessed with how severe the initial slope is and how it curves down towards the tip... it's so subtle but i fixate on it often.

LANDO NORRIS

mr. nose-job-nose. the first time i saw lando's side profile i audibly gasped. he looks a bit elvin and whimsical so it just works amazingly with his face... yeah... his nose is just jarringly perfect. this addition is a slight anomaly for me because i aggressively prefer big noses, but i can appreciate the fact that people would pay to have his schnoz.

LEWIS HAMILTON

a fellow nose-piercing-haver. i've always been a fan of lewis' face but when he got the studs it violently catapulted his sex appeal into the stratosphere. i lovveee how his nose like, lengthens when he smiles really big i find it super endearing. in profile it's very gentle (no aggressive angles, everything follows the same line) which suits him well. some people just have the anatomy for facial jewelry and he definitely does. starting a prayer circle for an lh septum ring.

idk if your still busy so obviously finish what your doing before doing anything else but do you know how hyuna's prosthetic latches together?? I think theres like a knee-latch on her prosthetic that's a bit father down than her other leg but theres so much going of its hard to tell whats going in that area

Honestly I'm not sure how the mechanics of it would work, especially since there's got to be some weird alien technology or structure at play there. It's pretty different from what a prosthetic leg is like in real life, so it's tricky to make assumptions based on that, too.

There's some stuff I noticed about Hyuna's leg across the various official arts, though. Mostly the fact that it's inconsistent, and I kind of see a reason for it. Please forgive me as I go on a bit of a ramble.

In her original performance outfit the prosthetic is structured almost like it's just a normal leg molded out of metal. It's a lot more solid and is dark in color, almost black. It also seems as if it goes up to just her knee? Maybe it still goes up to her thigh and she just ripped her pants until the knee for better/unobstructed joint movement. It joins at the ball of her knee and seems to be composed of quite a few different parts, somewhat complicated.

In All-In, Hyuna's prosthetic is still mostly of average leg shape. The most notable difference is that the leg includes hollow spaces, most likely thinner parts assembled together as opposed to one solid leg. It's also a different, lighter color. We can infer from this image that her leg is until her upper thigh.

And then we have the latest one. Hyuna's leg in All-In seems to be until her upper thigh, but this image makes it seem as if it goes much higher than that (although it's most likely an artistic choice. maybe I shouldn't look into it too much. I've learned my lesson 😭). But it's interesting how this leg is the most unique, solid and without hollow spaces, but considerably thinner, more simple.

There's also the fact that you mentioned, the latch being farther down in comparison to her actual knee. It's different from her previous prosthetic legs which seem to join at the knee exactly and are much more similar to that of normal leg anatomy. For this prosthetic, her leg doesn't actually latch at the knee, it latches just a bit below it. The prosthetic knee may look a little lower, but it's just the way she's angled, left leg facing left and right leg facing forward.

Maybe I'm overexplaining something that's already obvious/basic knowledge, my bad. Also I'm no scientist, so I could be wrong.

Anyway, the fact that Hyuna's leg changes quite a bit is interesting. It could be a design shift from the earlier production of ALNST to the finalized version, but I personally like to think that Hyuna's leg changes because she replaces it sometimes. Her lifestyle calls for a lot of action, and while her body can heal itself overtime, her prosthetic leg is prone to wearing and breaking apart.

This is how I see it (just a theory/maybe headcanon):

The leg she has in her performance outfit is one supplied to her by the aliens, which is why it looks much more sturdy, more like a true human leg. They're very advanced, so they'd know exactly how to make one that best suits her. Once Hyuna escapes to the rebellion, she doesn't have access to that kind of material anymore, nor does she know how replicate it. So instead she gets creative, taking scraps of metal and joining them together to make another leg, which is why it looks considerably lighter and less complicated. Whenever her leg breaks, she (or someone from the rebellion) creates a new leg from the material they can find, which is why her legs become progressively more simple and less conventionally "leg-like" . It's no problem to her though, and she's very proud of it.

Oh I don't think they look alike at all. Sorry, I don't know how to help you.

Maybe focus on specific features? Think of it like you were sketching them as a portrait artist? Like they have different mouth shape, eye shape/placement, cheekbones, and hair lines. Force (left) has a thinner straighter mouth more sculpted, slightly higher more prominent cheekbones, much heavier lidded eyes (he looks sultry and sleepy most of the time), slightly broader nose, longer face over all, and a prominent Adam's apple.

Book (right) has more delicate and finer features, his face is more heart-shaped and proportions are different (where his features fall on his face), smaller slightly pouty mouth, thinner nose, slightly rounder cheeks, close but less deep-set eyes. He's also lighter skinned. For all these reasons he's cast as the uke in their shows, as they are pretty much the same height, age (Book is actually a little older), and deferential politeness IRL, it could have gone either way.

If you're still struggling, there could be more/other reasons for this.

There is something called the Cross-race effect which may be impacting you. (The way to train your brain out of this one is to just keep watching tons of dramas, fashion, MVs made by cultures not your own. There's also Prosopagnosia to consider, although that's a lot rarer than modern peeps make it out to be.

I've also always felt like Dunbar's number may come into play with this kind of thing too. Like perhaps the human brain just has a limited max capacity for facial recognition storage.

So you might do better if you focus on their mannerisms and way of speaking which are completely different. (Siblings usually share vocality and mannerisms especially if they were raised together.) Body language and their way of holding themselves, smiles, eye crinkles, use of eyebrows, etc... Very few actors can move on from these tells.

Book has a more mobile face (which is why he suits comedy so well) but Force's is more emotive and expressive in nuance. He's uses more micro-movements, like little eye crinkles and a little crooked smile.

Their voices are very similar, but Force's is more burred, and a little more monotone (rare in Thai). He has a mellow soft way of speaking especially around the ubiquitous krap. Book has a rounder, wetter way of speaking, his kraps are more sharp and clipped.

All that said, IMHO you don't have to bother to watch either of ForceBook's series. So far this pair has been ill served by GMMTV. So if it wigs you out, there is plenty other, better BL.

Also if you want to actually watch a BL where the characters are some iteration of siblings, I'm sure Japan is there for you. If not, there's always the stepbrothers trope...

I have to say, I tend to way MORE annoyed when characters in a show who are meant to be siblings look absolutely nothing alike. Like bone-structure level "qua?" I know blood siblings don't always look alike, but they rarely look so completely different as we often get in TV or film the world over.

a couple folks who watched me mess around with crafts and amateur mask making thought I should document the process, idk if anyone would be interested in all that here, but it was a process alright.

I wanted to try to do it as cheap as possible while trying to aim for the best quality I could, most of what I bought for it was just a styrofoam head to build off as a base, some cheap plasticine that feels nasty and greasy and smells unpleasant but it's reusable at least, some plaster, PVA glue and some little tubs of glaze and gesso.

I decided I was going to try using that diy recycled craft paper I've seen people make so that was a whole tangent. I never liked that newspaper strips as paper mache just kind of peel and make things nasty, which isn't what I wanted. I figured not having a grain in the same way, being softer and more pliable would be the advantage of diy paper.

I made a deckle and mould by dismantling a shallow rectangular jewelry box I picked up off the side of the road with a hammer - pretty, uhm, roughly, I only meant to take the bottom out of the box and the top out of the lid so I'd have two matching frames, but kind of smashed it to bits, I found a bunch of bulldog clips to hold it back together. The rig works, but it's chaotic at best, hahaha

I absolutely wasn't going to use the blender for making paper pulp, I found a beat up old stick mixer that broken down entirely not long after I'd started using it. I mainly made my pulp by squashing it up with my hands after letting it soak for 12 hours, which took at least a couple of hours to do myself. I tried also mashing it up like how the ancient Greeks made wine: by putting it in a tub and stomping, but I can't say that was particularly effective and mostly it made an ungodly mess.

So, I built my mask's face off the styrofoam head and cast it in plaster, which worked well except that the nose broke. Combination of not using enough to reinforce that area and the fact that I used a strip of cardboard to support the plasticine I built up for the nose, and it absorbed the dampness of the wet plaster and kind of... exacerbated the problem I think by making it structurally less stable.

The casting tutorial suggested vaseline to grease the inside of the mold but I wasn't sure we had any so I substituted with a chunk of soap I cut off a bar and made into a paste. I think that worked fine.

my first cast wasn't great, I pulled the mask out too quickly and the texture of all the paper that was stuck to the inside and then quickly stuck back to the mask lost a lot of the details. I also tried building up some of the damaged parts with this one - definitely better to cast well the first time than try to fix a botched mask, it lost even more integrity because of how the wet paper being added and extra weight made it lose shape. The whole bridge of the nose kind of collapsed in on itself.

The second cast I did with pure paper pulp since I had lots of it left, and it crumbled apart when I pulled it out, but even the chunks of it I had were much more promising - they felt smooth and got more of the details of the wrinkles in the plaster mould.

Third one is the one in the post linked above, a layer of pulp followed by diy paper strips... idk what it is, you'd expect it to be sort of similar since one is just dried out paper pulp, but something about the process of letting it form a kind of membrane on the surface of the deckle before drying it gives it a more cohesive quality. I used plenty of paste in this run too.

The nose unfortunately still had to be rebuilt at the tip but I was cautious not to get any of the other bits of the mask wet. I think 48 hours is probably like, Bare Minimum for drying time, especially for more porous materials - I'm currently drying a fifth one, the fourth was cast with pulp I made from bark just for the hell of it, and it was still pretty damp even after sitting it in front of the gas heater on and off for 2 days. I mean hell, I have the mould now, might as well use it.

I also tried to recast the nose so we'll see if that works, it wasn't too much of an ordeal to stick some plasticine in there and try to reshape it.

The first cast also ended up being my decorating test run, I wanted to see if just glazing over sharpie instead of painting would work - it's alright, but there's probably better techniques. The thing about drawing anything elaborate directly onto the mask is that it's hard to get pen into the wrinkles, you're better drawing on paper separately and decoupaging it on I reckon.

Oh, did you know sharpie marker bleeds through gesso and acrylic paint? I've tried to paint over stuff and it always kind of amazes me how penetrative alcoholic pen marks are when the paint dries, even when applied really thick.

I managed to draw on the gold lines with metallic sharpie in my first run but it didn't work the second time - I think drawing over paint might have damaged the marker? - so I sort of improvised with the metallic string. My mum likes collecting ribbons and strings and coloured paper for gifts so I nicked a bunch of those things. The pansy bead on the forehead came from a button shop and the tiny one on the bridge of the nose actually came from my great grandmother's collection of beads that I inherited :')

Ah, and the staining - before I went over with a medium gloss glaze I tried to get that, what is it, distressed? varnished? that kind of darker brown that makes the masks look aged and gets into the crevices, emphasizing the wrinkles very nicely. I tried tea and coffee as a kind of stain, the coffee worked a lot better - there's still some grains stuck around the mask's cheek, haha. I also used the coffee to stain the skewers I'm thinking of using for quills (they aren't completely stuck on yet.

The thread is partially pushed through the mask to keep it in place and make sure it doesn't just peel off, I used pins to pin it to the mask and pva glue to keep it in position, removing the pins after it dried. I stitched the ribbon onto the back before I glued it down and sealed it all over with gesso. I'm not 100% on how sturdy it is but I'm hoping it holds.

... I think that's where I'm at with it so far, I might decorate the "quills" more with beads or something. idk yet.

👃🏻Scorpio moon noses seem to have a noticeable tip at the end like a Scorpio tail, whereas the cardinal moons just have this regal presence with strong integrity and foundation ♑️ similar to the cap symbol. Reminds me of the strong foundation in a house, idk. 🏠

📁I find it interesting that none of them are smiling with their teeth. Scorpio is so controlled and understated; the least likely to ever appear overeager I feel.

back in july, FB made a poll on their socials, asking players if they wanted eddie to return as a love interest in a future season. idk how they could've possibly redeemed him, but that doesn't matter because the answer ended up being hell no . of course, FB must've been shocked by that. me too. i mean, who wouldn't want to romance this ... dreamboat 😐

while we’ve never had a returning islander as an LI, we’ve had returning islanders . they’ve always been redrawn to fit the new season’s style (at least before FB decided to throw ivy & hamish as is into s7's sea of clashing art styles lol)

don’t have receipts for this, but i wouldn’t be surprised if FB already started redesigning him in anticipation of the poll result being a Yes . the majority of players didn't want him back, so anything like that would've had to be scrapped...unless they change up some things, make him a new character 👀

so basically my theory is they had a scrapped returning eddie design laying around, turned him into alex, it's more about their appearance than their personalities, but apparently eddie was gonna undergo a personality transplant anyways

returning islanders haven't been 100% faithful to their OG design, we've all unfortunately seen s5 bobby, but regardless i’ll point out the differences (that aren't caused by alex being drawn at a different angle)

not a similarity, but something i thought was interesting . alex is the only s7 guy that never had reused assets from youcef, because his body is from suresh

now the actual similarities:

face structure. jawline, ear shape, cheekbones. same facial proportions as well, like the distance between their mouth and chin

blue hooded eyes. eyebags too, it's just that alex's dont have any lineart

eyebrows. same thickness and very similar shape, same brow spacing as well . look at the glabella (distance between eyebrows) shading on both of them

their hairstyles . both have a side part, a bunch of spiky bits on the (viewer’s) left side, and hair swooping behind their head on the right side

those could all just be coincidences, but there's a mystery afoot, alex’s original eyebrow colour. it caused quite the uproar when he was revealed (it kinda grew on me, i think it's cute lol) so FB gave him a brow tint when the first volume dropped . not everyone's eyebrows and hair matches 100% irl, but in the (starting from s3) LITG universe, islanders' eyebrows correlate with their natural hair colour . we haven't had a bleached brow baddie yet, and imo, this was way too noticeable to just be a simple oversight . then i realised...his original eyebrows are the same colour as eddie's

You’ve been warned

Alright. There’s a lot to unpack and I honestly think I just wanna talk about specific points/scenes so this isn’t too long.

I WILL DO A FULL ANALYSIS/REVIEW OF THE FINALE AT A LATER TIME (At the time of this post, I’ve only seen both eps once and I’m sure I’ve missed a few things).

First, that Phee/Tech goodbye. Is it me or did that feel…incomplete? Idk if that’s the right word, but I just felt that Tech didn’t want to say goodbye/didn’t know how? Idk. It felt…awkward almost. Like he was avoiding eye contact and he changed his stance just before she approached. It kind of makes me wonder if he wanted to say more but didn’t have time, or if he’s also traumatized by goodbyes (like Omega?) since he basically confirmed in ep9 that he ‘may feel things differently’ but that doesn’t mean he feels them any less.

Second, the planet they went to. I don’t remember the name and I won’t get into it too much but I just wanna say that I loved the atmosphere/setting/how it looked. Beautiful. When I first saw those rail car things I immediately thought of the Boiling Rock eps from AtLA (especially since this started as a ‘prison break’ w/ wanting to get Cross out of there).

Now…as for Tech. After seeing the names listed for the episodes online, I knew that Plan 99 was going to be about someone sacrificing themselves. For a while (until like ep13 or so) I had felt so certain that Crosshair was gonna be the one to sacrifice himself (for Omega). This kind of gets into some thoughts I have about the finale as a whole, but I wanna wait until I rewatch to get into that discussion.

I DO NOT BELIEVE TECH IS DEAD!

Like most, I also believe that because we haven’t seen a body, he isn’t dead and it’s SW. Echo and Gregor got blown up and were presumed dead, but look how that turned out. Anakin gets his limbs chopped and he burns alive, yet he lives. Grievous’ whole mess. Palpy🙄. Like seriously, no one stays dead w/o a body (Padme, Shmi, Jabba, etc). Mace…well that’s a different post altogether.

I’m glad they went back for AZI. I was worried Cid would use the droid to blackmail them. Also, saw Cid’s betrayal a mile away. I hate Cid’s character and always have so I’m glad they finally got her out of the way and have her cut ties with them. But yeah, I’m glad they didn’t just forget about AZI.

I also liked Hunter talking w/ Omega about what kind of life she’d like to live. All this time, Hunter believed Omega deserves a normal childhood (and she does) but he never once asked her if that’s what she wanted. He asked if she wanted to stay with them/the group, but not what kind of life she’d want to live. Her little nod almost as if she’s unsure about her answer made me smile. Like yes girl this is what it’s supposed to be like! Quietly fishing on an island w/ friends your age!

Believe it or not, I did not mind Omega disobeying Hunter. It really mirrored Tech’s ‘last words’ of ‘When have we ever followed orders?’. I obviously knew she was gonna get taken, it was set up. But I was upset that Hunter basically switches from going to go get Crosshair to wanting to rescue Omega instead. Like Tech sacrificed himself trying to rescue Crosshair. Yes Omega is a child and SHE IS IN DANGER, but I think that the imperial scientists and Nala Se would rather kill Crosshair instead of Omega. She is useful to them. It’s possible Crosshair is too now that he’s been experimented on, but for Palpatine’s uses, I believe Omega would be more important. This is just my opinion.

Speaking of things being obvious…that end reveal with Imperial scientist Emerie Karr. She’s Omega’s sister. Like most people, I deduced she MIGHT be a clone based on her accent and the similar structure of her face to Omega’s (nose and eye shape). I didn’t see if Omega’s VA did Emerie Karr cuz I don’t watch the credits, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she did voice both characters.

I think that’s it as a quick first thoughts kind of post.

Again, I’ll definitely do a full analysis/review on my main @mabrego0714 of the finale again once I rewatch it to make sure I caught everything.

This is actually a great question leading to an even bigger discussion, and warning! this post is LONGGGG:

what does it mean to be trans in an omegaverse?

(DISCLAIMER BEFORE ANSWER BELOW - I am NOT trans and this is how I handle this topic in my own personal writing, if you are trans, I encourage you to weigh in on how your write your aus and the headcanons you use to provide our community with an "expert" source.)

You can be transgender, but there is no such thing trans-dynamic. Why?

In all of my au's trans people do exist. Do I have specifically trans characters? No, because I'm not trans and I can't speak to the nuances that go into that experience. But they do exist and I have given it some thought. Here are the basics of how my aus approach the subject:

First of all, as we all know, I tend to write a post-modern style where dynamics aren't nearly as relevant as they are in contemporary and traditional styles. Primary genders, such as female, are much more integrated into the framework and language, and therefore the self-perception of the individuals living in this world.

Second, the way at least the English language is structured, the ideas for the concepts of male and female stem from sets of actions/behaviors/skills/etc, that are societally classified as either masculine or feminine. This is an old-school sort of thinking, that of course we can all say there isn't anything we do, say, or act that is inherently male (or vice versa). The way I write omegaverse, there is no "look" associated with being any particular dynamic. You can be tall, short, muscular, slender, have a round face, have an angular jaw, have big feet, have long fingers, have curly hair, have full lips, no matter what dynamic you have. The genes responsible for your dynamic do not have any information on them that says things about your physical features other than if you are a male omega (who then needs to have the organs to get pregnant and have babies).

Similarly, we cannot change our skin color which also leads other people to make assumptions about our behaviors/skills/abilities/etc... The reason I often use skin color as a real world similarity to dynamic is because the majority of the time (not always) someone's skin color isn't the only reason they look "insert nationality/heritage", they also have other physical traits that denote where their ancestors are from such as eye shape, skull shape, nose type, body type, body composition, susceptibility to different aliments, hair type, hair color, etc...

When thinking about dynamics then, they all have gene-expressed behaviors/physical traits. The easiest to understand is omegas have heats, and have the compulsion to nest.

The easiest criticism of this would be, what if an omega doesn't have a heat? To that I would say, what if a woman doesn't have a period? Is she now automatically non-binary or male? Obviously not. If a woman gets a hysterectomy she is still a woman too. Same thing if a male omega gets a hysterectomy, still an omega.

What if an omega doesn't want to nest? In my au this simply isn't possible. It's not so much of a want as a thing that just happens. Some people sneeze when they get bright light in their eyes. Do they want to sneeze? no. Can they stop it? no. Could I train myself to sneeze when I saw bright lights? probably not. What if a beta does want to nest? If a beta wants to make a cozy little spot out of blankets because they like it, that's not nesting. An omega physically and mentally could not stop nesting without medical intervention or other extraordinary circumstances. When an omega nests, things occur in their brain that is not observable when betas or alphas perform the same action.

If a beta wanted to nest they would just be a beta who "nests", they would not be an omega. If an alpha wanted to have heat, this would not be possible even for female alphas with a uterus, it would not be possible. It's not about hormones, it's not about scents, it's not about bodies, it's about genes.

Going back to anon's biggest concern about alphas having a heat, this simply isn't possible. Alphas can menstruate, and alphas cannot have heats. I don't think the analogy of a cis man getting a period is quite right, consider instead, either a FTM trans or non-binary person producing semen or a human laying an egg that hatches into a human baby.

At this moment in time, neither of these things are possible, if they become possible I will need to edit this post with new examples lol.

I can see some similarities. Pen's voice is a bit deep but it has a more nasally quality that doesn't detract from being well spoken. Idk if nasally quality fits as a description but the way he says some things it feels like it is stemming from that sorta area, if that makes sense?

I think, after considering this, I can see it more in the tone inflections. Especially when Mark is doing a bit, where he puts stresses on words and how his voice pitches in particularly places seems similar to how Pen normally speaks.

Appearance-wise, I can see some similarities in the facial shape. They both have rounded and stronger features, especially in the jaw. I think, if I was ever going to dare to do anything more traditional and realistic, Mark's jaw into neck would be useful as a reference. Maybe aspects also his the brow and hairline? Hmm. Now I'm going to be thinking on this a lot, lmao. I think Pen's face is a little longer and stronger, but there are useful things to learn in looking between the two as a comparison thank to like, bone structure stuff.

Well… their faces are kind of sharp like that like but still soft, especially with the moon influence. It’s quite striking actually. Gorgeous bone structure but different than a Cap rising… wider. Which makes sense: Jupiter expands, Saturn restricts. I don’t mean wide in a bad way, obviously every single one of these women is gorgeous and still have fairly more narrow and petite faces still but somehow the features are spread wider, if that makes sense

👀 Big, beautiful eyes “yes the better to see you with!” 🐺🧣from Red Riding HOOD came through— I think it’s because Saggs have these big, clear bright gorgeous eyes but they’re sort of challenging like a wolves must be, I think it’s bc they have this reputation for being savage 🥊 kind of like a wolf. I was going to do a little explanation so I found a picture of Joseph and went to circle his nose but it was 2:30 in the morning and I was delirious so I just wrote nose next to his nose and lost my shit. Idk why this was so funny but it was

NOW that I’m on a full nights rest I can actually explain why I do this

The main reason why I give him a bump in his nose is because occasionally, in the anime, he gets a little bump/curve in his nose. I know it’s usually because his face is scrunched or his eyebrows are furrowed, but still, it’s there

I feel like, aside from their eyes and hair and eyebrows, Joseph and Caesar have pretty much the same facial structure: their noses and mouths are similar, so I wanted to give them differentiating features to make them more unique in their appearance!

A lot of artists usually draw Caesar with a more distinct nose shape and I absolutely love it, but for me, when I look at him, his features just seem slimmer than Joseph’s, maybe because of his portrayal in the anime? I have another ask in my inbox that asks a question about how I draw Caesar and Joseph so I’ll answer that eventually

But yeah long story short; I see the bump, I make the bump, hence Joseph has a bump on da nose ❤️
