back when season 1 of attack on titan was coming out n i was into it there were a few rus fic authors who captured an atmosphere of overwhelming hopelessness, violence and dehumanisation of self and others that i occasionally still get a craving for but rn can’t really think of anything quite the same. dunno where to find crime docs that aren’t for mums or insufferable men. violent movies i can think of frame it as ill fate or crime, something divergent from normalcy, and have too high of an energy level to them, when the brutality should feel mundane and ever present instead. literary tragedy i am familiar with is either too cerebral or, again, treats loss of humanity as something exceptional (although i feel like i want the smouldering despair of the process but oh so significantly more grimy and horrid). straight up gore is bit too heavy, no building of context, characters, atmosphere. a couple songs actually put me in the mood for this kinda thing but it’s all very ephemeral and i dunno where to go from there. ww2 2 loaded. just want to experience people entrenched in cruelty past the point of no return every waking moment of their lives and aware of it. anyhow, once again i come to conclusion that i’m bad at research and formulating thoughts. if anyone can point me in the direction of something with the vibe i attempted to describe please lemme know that’s be so sweet of u
