One Dress a Day Challenge
Black and White October
Easter Parade / Ann Miller as Nadine Hale
Nadine apparently has tons of dogs and coordinates them with her outfits as extra accessories. Here's what she wears with a pair of borzois.
This costume only appears for a few seconds--the gif above represents about half its total screentime--but it's memorable nonetheless. It's one of the most historically accurate costumes in the film, for a start (this parade sequence takes place in 1912 or 1913). I like the addition of the feather spray on the hat, as compared to the design sketch. The effect of the crossed scarf is interesting too.

Singing the Honor Among Thieves drinking song ("No fortune found, nor faith divine, come close to toping the juice of the vine...") to myself and feeling a Yearning
I would love a movie-esque version of this to listen to. There's a lovely version by Daniel Kelly Folk Music played on a homemade lyre (with two additional verses he wrote himself!), but it has a slightly different tune. I would love a version that had a lute or some flute instrumentals, maybe leaning into an Irish folk music sound 🪈🎶
It doesn't have to be an official version but it would be great if they released one, I think everyone who's been going feral over that song since the film came out would love it xD

One Dress a Day Challenge
Black and White October
Cover Girl / Rita Hayworth as Rusty Parker
Here we have a very smart 1940s houndstooth coat with black lapel facings two large buttons, and no visible pockets. It is worn over what appears to be a black skirt, white blouse, and mustard-yellow vest or jacket. Accessories include a large black shoulderbag, black pumps, black gloves, and a positively swashbuckling hat with a long pheasant feather.
Also notice the seams up the backs of her stockings!

Remembering Steve Harwell 1967-2023
After a few days of reports of singer Steve Harwell being in hospice, he has now died at 56. He co-founded the band Smash Mouth in 1994 and was in the band until 2021. They were edgy enough for alt-rock radio (elements of ska and punk), but catchy enough for Top 40 radio. The band was known for their hits "Walking on the Sun" and "All Star", which was the Song of Summer of 1999.
They were a very popular band on movie soundtracks, notably the Shrek movies which featured "All Star" and their cover of The Monkees' "I'm a Believer" and The Cat in the Hat which featured their cover of The Beatles' "Getting Better" with composer David Newman (side note: they appeared on quite a few Mike Myers soundtracks). But my favorite song of theirs was their cover of ? and the Mysterians' "Can't Get Enough of You, Baby" for the Can't Hardly Wait soundtrack.

Smash Mouth's Harwell (pink hair) with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" music video
In the last few years, Harwell was in the news for controversies. In Summer 2020 they headlined a big concert that became a superspreader event at that point in the Pandemic (before vaccines, etc). For a singer with health issues, that was a little surprising to say the least. After a viral video surfaced in 2021 of his erratic behavior at a concert, he announced he was retiring. Smash Mouth has since carried on with a new singer.

Finally watched Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny and I really enjoyed it, I wish we had done some snacks likened necessarily popcorn bc thats a bad idea, but movie snacks, and lowered the light more to get the feeling of being in a theater at least..., and I kind of wish the last scene was a little longer to really let us sit and enjoy the happiness for the characters.... and i wish we had sat around and talked about the movie for a bit longer.... Also how tf did they clear up the whole accused of murder thing, while indie was unconscious, or???
