A Siren's Herald
DWC 2025; Navigate Prompt
Tumblr media
Susan herself was a vision of devastating beauty. Strings of gaudy precious jewels dangling around her neck, ears and wrists all glittering in the natural lighting of both lunar rays and the warm glow of candlelight. Dressed in fabric of fine black silk fitted to her figure in a flattering display. The gown reached the floor with no further intricacies to it, and yet it was every bit as gorgeous as anticipated for the fashionable Madam; This was the kind of gown where you knew the designer loves women.
Sue had been drawn away from the affairs of the Brothel while in full swing, thus her extravagant display was no more than a fluke of timing. She was joined in company by two whose confidence she trusted. Those she expected the utmost honesty and guidance from in regards to this sensitive topic.
Jhiy'le, a human from a tribal band surrounding the ancient Lordaren's accompaniment lands. She maintained a meek expression, reserved and kept to herself by having her arms crossed, her shoulder length blonde hair bundled together in a poor excuse of a ponytail.
As well joined by Mi, a smiley pandaren. A down to earth woman -- middle aged to older, weighted with fat and black and white fur and carrying kind blue eyes which currently remained mostly hidden behind a mourning veil (a fashion choice on her end rather than honest mourning).
Both women held very discernible expressions differing from the Madam's: Jhiy'le's being that of doubt and Mi's curiosity.
The information wasn't much, but it was enough to cause hope to flourish... Hope which would take a back seat to stirring emotion as she is prompted, the start of Jhiy'le's hesitation drawing a suspicious glance from Susan.
"Madam Gampre--," the voice was timid, slow in its encroach as it addressed the subject, "I must heed some level of warning, I don't think this is the right time to start picking at scabs..."
The air was thick with apprehension. The Madam, bathed in the glow of a full moon. That infamous glare finds itself settling on Jhiy'le, golden irises zeroed in in such a way that mimicked her tigress.
"Scabs?" The Madam responds curtly, aghast by the chosen expression. The Madam would toss the letter to her desk at once, crossing the space between her and the tribal woman with assured steps. The woman would straighten in response to the sudden challenge, meeting the Madam with sudden frustration crossing her face. The women were toe to toe within moments, the Madam's anger palpable as she speaks firmly in the face of who she believed her ally, "My daughter's life, the affliction of all we've been put through? Those are no mere scabs. I'll sooner feed you to the tigers before letting you dismiss this mission I was certain we both understood the pertinence of."
"It's not the time to act. We haven't even confirmed this supposed lead, what if she is wrong!"
The excuses infuriated the Madam, visibly so.
"Why would we hesitate? I know the Siren well enough to be certain she wouldn't lead me astray. She would never have sent anything if she wasnt certain! Not with all that is on the line!" Susan spoke fiercely, her voice rising a notch at the tone of Jhyi's voice.
"You would be foolish to go in blindly!"
The Madam was practically seeing red, she bellows in return: "My daughter deserves more than dismissals and fear!"
With a delicacy Mi would intervene, her paw pressing into Susan's chest which would immediately draw the Madam's hateful gaze unto her-- Though the panda would not flinch under the stare. To some extent she understood exactly where Susan's anger was stemming from, and it was quite justifiable.
"She didn't mean it in such a crude fashion, Susan," the pandaren expresses, certain she was speaking truth as she eases the Madam a step backward. If MI knew anything about the hotheaded Madam and the unpredictable Jhiy'le it was that a fight was on the cusp of this heated exchange. Gussied up or not, the Madam rarely shied away from altercation these days.
With a harsh glance in the tribal woman's direction Susan soon turns upon her heels and returns to her desk, glowering all the while. What she thought would be a unanimous happiness for some kind of headway, after all this time... Quickly became a stalemate. One that would be cut through by the Madam remarking harshly with her back turned to both women, "It's happening. I will write to the Siren, request her to come here and navigate us through her plan before committing to anything. But we will finally put an end to this chase once and for all. Now--," she turns, her posture stiff and eyes hard as she points toward the door, "Get the fuck out of my office."
There wasn't a disagreeance from either women, Mi promptly dragging a heated Jhiy'le out by her arm, swiftly scolding her attitude in the hallway.
In her loneliness Susan would grab the letter from the Siren once again, moving around to sit at her desk with every intention to send a missive out for Emillie... But once more, for the satisfaction of it, she reads the letter for the last time, allowing the hope to spread throughout her as she considers the near future of once again having her first born in her arms.
The hard truth of never messing with a tigress's cubs would be wrought upon them all.

Ahh, mobile friendliness. The phrase grew in importance and frequency around this time in 2015. Perhaps you recall the scores of articles written across the interwebs that discussed “Mobilegeddon” and demonized web development trends of yesteryear. We, too, joined the fray, posting a half dozen articles geared towards small to mid-sized businesses. As a result, many companies heeded the almighty Google’s warnings and hired firms to build websites for the 21st century. Some businesses did so hastily, which left them with better, but not great responsive or adaptive websites. If you were one of those companies, then read up on 3 Tools for mobile friendly website assessment to determine whether or not you got the bang for your back.
Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test
When Google talks, everyone should listen. As the internet’s foremost expert on, well, the internet, Google has and will continue to set the standard for the universe’s webmasters. This easy to use tool requires you to pop-in a URL, then spits out some pertinent info and additional resources.
Responsive Design Checker
Like Google, simply enter your URL, click “GO,” and select any device (iPad, iPhone, Nexus 7, 27″ monitor, etc.). This tool is awesome because it doesn’t stop at the common Apple test. Rather, it reviews desktop views across browsers and softwares which often go unrealized. Here’s an example of Youtech’s website:
MobileTest.Me
Similar to the Responsive Test above, MobileTest.Me provides more screen sizes, devices, and the like. Wonder what your website looks like on an HTC One? How about a Samsung Galaxy 7? Is it the Nokia Lumia 920 you prefer? Whatever device you’re looking for, MobileTest.Me probably has you covered. Again, here’s what we look like in their eyes:
How does your website look across these tests? These 3 Tools for mobile friendly website assessment should paint a more complete picture of your website across devices, browsers, and operating systems. Did we miss any? Let us know in the comments!
