In the years following her jail sentence, Cyntoia made her partner's degree from Lipscomb University, and is currently studying for her bachelor's degree.

The debut edition of trade fashion exhibition Sole Fashion took place on 16th & 17th February 2020 at the Ricoh Arena Coventry, collaborating with some of the biggest names in footwear including Rieker, Josef Seibel, Gardiner Brothers, HB Shoes, Bugatti and Mephisto.

Visitors included Morleys Stores, Harveys of Halifax, Briggs Shoes, White & Son of Sidmouth, Neat Feet, Howorths Shoes, Haslams Footwear, Marshall Shoes, Christians of Market Harborough, Strolling 4 Shoes, Andrew Graham Shoes and Shoe Med as well as Elevate Your Sole from Wales and Irish retailer Paddy Duff. Press titles Drapers and Footwear Today were also in attendance.

Ben Gardiner of Gardiner Bros exhibited many of his brands at the show: “Gardiners were thrilled to be involved in the first showing of Sole Fashion. Ricoh Arena in Coventry is a very convenient and hospitable location. The complimentary breakfast was a lovely touch to get retailers and exhibitors prepared for early business.

Despite the extreme weather conditions, it was great to see so many existing customers and wonderful to meet new retailers. It is good to have the space and the time to show our partners the complete ranges from Hush Puppies, Crocs, Cotswold, Base London, Rocket Dog and many others.”

Tom Powney, owner of mini chain retailer Briggs Shoes added: “Having become disillusioned with the current offers in the UK trade show calendar, we decided to attend Sole Fashion and found it really relevant to our brand profile with brands like Rieker, Josef Seibel, Padders and HB Shoes exhibiting. The venue was very accessible, food onsite was fantastic, and it was so convenient to stay at the onsite Hilton Hotel. We found the event to be really well presented, hassle free and professionally organised – I certainly hope that more of our suppliers take part.”

Exhibitor Justin Morgan, MD of HB Shoes commented; “Sole Fashion has brought a breath of fresh air to the UK show buying circuit from an HB Shoes perspective. The organisation pre-show, in-show and post-show was beyond reproach.

Unfortunately, the timing of MICAM, storms and the uncertainly in the global market were stacked against us. However, from a professional buying and selling point of view, it was an ideal scenario for both buyers and sellers to appraise the new season in a relaxed and convivial setting.”

Retailer Steve White, owner of White & Sons Sidmouth enjoyed the new buying platform on offer: “Storm Dennis hit the British Isles hard, country wide floods, traffic and train disruption, flights cancelled delivered the worst news possible for the organisers of Sole Fashion. Despite this, I ventured north from Devon to check out this new show on the calendar. Whilst these factors did affect attendance, the free breakfast, welcoming smiles and happy atmosphere were a change from other shows I have attended. The opportunity to speak with my major suppliers, whilst browsing the great new ranges on display made it a very worthwhile trip. I certainly hope to return in August.”

Sole Fashion organiser Penny Robinson commented: “I am extremely grateful to everyone who supported the first edition of Sole Fashion. I’ve had some great feedback from those who attended. Sayangnya latihan ini berlangsung kurang optimal, karena dilaksanakan dalam kondisi basah (wet) sehingga performa yang sesungguhnya tidak bisa perlihatkan pada publik. Meskipun demikian tetap saja latihan ini tetap memiliki manfaat, yaitu mengetahui segala aspek yang menjadi kunci keberhasilan saat balapan dalam kondisi basah.

Terlihat alvaro bautista begitu serius meberikan masukan-masukan bagi mekanik dan insinyur hrc saat tiba di tempat istirahat (paddock).

Jonathan Rea returns to the top on the final day of testing

Sun shone down on the final day of testing at the Spanish circuit of Jerez, where the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship riders were able to continue their final arrangements ahead of the 2019 season opener that will be held in less than a month in Australia.

With the temperature being warmer than yesterday day two around Circuito de Jerez Ángel Nieto saw many riders improving their paces and the top ten riders of day closing in less than a second at the front.

Facing some stiff competition from the Yamaha and Ducati rivals, reigning World Champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) took to the track early this morning working on the small 2019 updates for his ZX-10RR. The four-time world champion didn’t lose any time and, in the end, he was able to return at the top of the timesheets, thanks to a fastest lap time in 1’39.160, just a few seconds ahead of the Pata Yamaha WorldSBK rider Alex Lowes.

Stunning with his consistency and overall pace during both the two days, the Yamaha rider closed second in 1’39.372 and he continued to make progress with his machine as he completed 102 laps around the Andalusian race track today. Working on improving the acceleration of his bike and testing new parts for the YZF R1 machine, his teammate Michael van der Mark closed in seventh position with a fastest lap time of 1’40.145.

Focusing on getting more comfortable on his new bike, Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) had a positive two-day test, as he closed also just 0.342 s off his teammate in third position. The British rider was able to be fast on both days, building on his confidence with the ZX-10RR.

Making an important step forward, Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) brought his Ducati Panigale V4 R in fourth position, closing 0.460 s off Rea’s lap time. The Spaniard had a busy day gathering as much information as possible to work on, and design the best base set-up for their all-new Ducati machine. On the other side of the garage, Chaz Davies sat out on the opening hours of the day and took to the track later in the afternoon putting in only a few laps, closing the day in tenth. As he was feeling some pain in his back after the crash he had yesterday, Davies decided to take it easy as he aims to be back at his full strength for the next pre-season test that will be held at the end of this week in Portimao. Both independent team riders Michael Rinaldi (BARNI Racing Team) and Eugene Laverty (Team Goeleven), who finished respectively ninth and twelfth, worked alongside their new teams producing valuable feedbacks that will be used also by the factory team to improve their Ducati beast.

Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) continued to impress, stunning with his performance along the two days. The Turkish rider finished in fifth position, with a fastest lap time in 1’39.942.

Continuing to work with the new team structure GRT Yamaha WorldSBK rider Marco Melandri had a busy day as he put in a total of 87 laps onboard his Yamaha finishing eighth overall, while his teammate Sandro Cortese had his progression slowed down by a small crash he suffered early in the morning. The German walked away from the accident on his feet but had to wait for his bike to be recovered and repaired before returning to the track in the afternoon and setting the sixth fastest time.

Towards the end of the day, the BWM Motorrad WorldSBK riders Tom Sykes and Markus Reiterberger had their transponders finally recording a few of their lap times. Happy with the progresses made over the two day, they closed respectively in fourteenth and fifteenth position.

Among the WorldSSPriders Federico Caricasulo (BARDAHL Evan Bros. WorldSSP Team) continued to lead the way also on day two with Frenchman Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) closing second just 0.222 s behind him. Making her debut in the class, Maria Herrera was also out testing aboard the Yamaha YZF R6 of MS Racing. The Spaniard focused on getting acquainted with the new bike and finished her second day of testing with a fastest lap time in 1’46.957.

Whilst the Jerez Test may have finished some of the WorldSBK and WorldSSP riders who attended the two days will now head down to Portugal for the final pre-season test on European soil from 27th-28th January at Autodromo Internacional do Algarve Portimao before the first round of the 2019 FIM Superbike World Championship season in Australia.

How many games will the Cleveland Browns win in 2016?

The Cleveland Browns have not impressed most national prognosticators. But what does the Dawg Pound Daily staff believe is in store for the team in 2016?

The Cleveland Browns open the 2016 NFL season today when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Browns have been the talk of the NFL – and not always in a good way — since the end of last season. Another regime change by owner Jimmy Haslam has been derided as front-office appointees Sashi Brown and Paul DePodesta are adding analytics to the team’s toolbox for rebuilding the team. This has ruffled the feathers of traditionalists who fear what they don’t understand.

The hiring of head coach Hue Jackson has been well received, however, as for the first time since returning to the NFL in 1999, the Browns hired a head coach that other teams were actively coveting.

On draft weekend the Browns selected 14 players – 13 made the final roster — and last week claimed a league-high five players off the waiver wire. Consequently, Cleveland enters the regular season with more than half of its roster comprised of players in either their first or second year in the league.

That has led many to predict nothing short of doom and gloom for the Browns this season. Forget challenging for a playoff spot, the Browns are going to be so bad, according to some, that they may find a way to post a record worst than 0-16.

So just what does 2016 have in store for the Browns? The Dawg Pound Daily staff got together to look into their respective crystal balls and come up with a prediction for the season.

Jonathan Goehring (Final record: 7-9) Though expectations are low as the Browns move through a lengthy rebuilding process, the team has an opportunity to surprise many in 2016.

Led by quarterback Robert Griffin III, who is possibly Cleveland’s long sought-after franchise quarterback, as well as several young playmakers on both sides of the ball, the Browns do not lack talent. They also have found a head coach in Hue Jackson who has had experience succeeding at the NFL, a coach whose expertise is on offense and can work with a young offensive line and young receivers.

Cleveland’s schedule is also manageable, as each of the first four games before wide receiver Josh Gordon returns from his four-game suspension are winnable. The young talent Cleveland possesses will not form a winning franchise overnight, but it will translate to more success than 2015.

Given the way the Browns lost games in heartbreaking fashion last season, the team will experience slightly better fortune in 2016. The rebuilding process will get off to a solid start this year, as the Browns will finish 7-9.

The first thinks the Browns are going to go 1-15, and can’t wait to see the team end up with the first pick in the draft. Then there is the group that wholeheartedly believes the Browns are headed to the playoffs this year. I fall in the middle of these two extremes.

The Browns are a team consistently falling in the three- to five-win range, with a break from that cycle being more unexpected than the starting quarterback making it all 16 games. The Browns did go 7-9 in 2014 with an extreme lack of leadership off the field, so this new, organized leadership group should lead to some success. Right?

The main reason for this prediction is the presence of head coach Hue Jackson on the sidelines. Those Browns teams that finished in the realm of 3-13 and 4-12 lost many close games, either blowing fourth quarter leads or losing at the last second. Think of last year’s “kick-six” loss against the Baltimore Ravens as an example.

With Jackson as head coach, these late-game losses can be avoided, or at least managed better. The Browns are a young team who are going to lose some close games, but if the team has a late lead, Jackson should be able to do a much better job at keeping his team poised than the coaches of Browns past. Think of Pat Shurmur calling a handoff to a backup tight end for an example of that. I was there. I won’t forget.

Their moves have been decisive with a dash of unconventional. Much like a baseball rebuild, the first move was to tear down the remnants of last year’s veteran laden 3-13 team. Drafting 14 players and trading for cornerback Jamal Taylor helped rehabilitate the front office’s image. However, the total makeover the Browns will ultimately play out on game days this fall.

The Browns schedule is formidable. Opening the season with five of seven games on the road means this young team will get a baptism by fire NFL style. The early part of the season will be rough as rookies and young players learn to adjust not only to playing in the NFL, but also to head coach Hue Jackson’s power run, West Coast style offense and defensive coordinator Ray Horton’s complicated zone blitz 3-4 base defense.

Expect this team to struggle out of the gate and start slow. By mid-season, Jackson and company should be able to separate the studs from the duds on the roster. This will allow for better game planning and should prove for closer, more exciting games. By December this team should be comfortable in the NFL and in their respective schemes.

Unfortunately, it will be a rough season on the field for the Browns, especially early. However, as the team jells around its coach and scheme, the games will grow far more exciting.

Contrary to Brian Billick’s thoughts, there are winnable games on the schedule. Look for the Browns to finish at 5-11.
