Never got around to posting my own pic of the Codex Regius when we all got to see it and nerded out. It’d be a really good photo too if you couldn’t see out hands and phones reflected in the glass. #codexregius #snorraedda #proseedda #árnimagnússoninstitute #manuscripts #oldnorse #haskoliislands

W12: Week 4 Month 3 Required Full Sail Post
SWOT
S = Strengths (Internal)
W = Weakness (Internal)
O = Opportunities (External)
T = Threats (External) (Quast, 2013).
S = Strengths (Internal) (Quast, 2013). The strengths that help being marketable include: technology skills, visual learner, punctual, determined, ability to learn new tasks quickly, work well in teams, set and meet deadlines, dependable, service minded and spontaneous. Most of the listed strength focus on knowledge and ability to learn. Some of the skills focus on what is considered soft skills like, team work, meeting deadlines, dependability, and punctuality. Finally, the last category is personality based such as determination and spontaneity.
W = Weakness (Internal) (Quast, 2013). Weaknesses are both internal and external. They include working to hard, taking on my than required, volunteering, focusing on to may projects at once, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, lack of down time, over thinking things and dyslexia. Most of these weaknesses are internal but they have external effects. For example, taking on too much work reduces the amount of sleep making it hard to participate in adequate exercise. Each of these issues can be overcome with further training and practice. However, dyslexia is a weakness that effects all areas of life. There are tricks to help but not repair. Therefore, it is important to know the issues that surround dyslexia, share the information with employers, and use all tools available to be successful.
O = Opportunities (External) T = Threats (External) (Quast, 2013). In the article, about SWOT, by Lisa Quast she suggests completing these two keywords at the same time by stating the threat first and the opportunity after addressing ways to counter the threat (Quast, 2013).
Threat: Other applicants are younger
Opportunity: Equal education with more hands-on experience
Threat: Other employees have seniority
Opportunity: Use personal skill set to help others
Threat: Others earn more money based on education
Opportunity: Complete second masters to move over on the pay scale
Threat: Peers are stronger in modern technology programs
Opportunities: Use Lynda.com and other training programs to bridge the gap
This week has been the hardest by far. I have suffered from mind block and over thought each vision board. I still have a lot of refinement work to complete this assignment to my standards.
The strength of this board is creativity, a unique logo, an element of fun. Weakness is the it was a challenge to get to this level. It still needs works. Threat - It is not as strong ass other boards. Opportunity - It is different, fun and relevant.
The strength of this board is in the layers, memorable iconic Viking logo. The graphic elements tell a story with each section. Weakness it needs more images, and some of the spacing needs to be fixed. Threat - The colors are not traditional. Opportunity - Because the colors are not traditional they stand out from other similar boards.
The strength of this board it has a clean crisp logo that directly reflects the modern architecture of the city. The accent colors are bold and scene all over the city so it reminiscent of iconic color of the city. The weakness is the rational is hard to read and the film frames have not been addressed. Threat - other boards have stronger layouts. Opportunity - this board has potential it just needs some more work to be solid.
After reviewing the feedback of peers I went back and located the images that represent the stages and processes taken to produce this work.
Step 1: After completing over 500 logo variations I chose on from each category to further explore and refine. Additionally, I worked on coming up with key concepts that represented each theme.
Step 2:I made a text board to compare various wordmark options for each category.
Step 3: I tested different text with the graphics to make a logo.
Step 4: After additional feedback I refined the text and graphic options and started working with color.
Step 5: Once again, based on peer feedback, I worked to refine the logos I chose. I tested the colors on black and white background to see which colors looked the best at small and large sizes. I also made final revisions to letter kerning.
Step 6: After making the revisions to the letting, color, and scale I worked on the vision boards as seen above. However, they needed to be modified and I will continue to work on them until I feel they are meet the requirements of each variation to their fullest potential.
Geography: With this board I have continued to move things around. I have changed the color swatches to fit into the wave shape eliminating the distraction of the fluke. I did the same to the textures. I also moved the logos to book end the rational.
Traditions: For this board I changed the book images on the side of book two to add verity. I also added a solid color under the images to eliminate the bleed through of the background because of low opacity. The imaged no represent different types of research.
Modern Culture: This concept has changed several times. The newest changes incorporate more film frames to unify the elements in a creative way, I moved the logos to balance them with the font styles. I move the rational text to the other side to make it easier to read. I then moved the color swatches from the left to the write. I placed the Textured under the fonts,
