HI we are HERE to Phrygianpost. this is extremely good and true and we are so. so fucking upset about the breakfast nook. you have no idea how upset we are about the breakfast nook

however we DO want to talk about deck seven. because we think it is important to note that while being trapped as a lab 100% is a thing that sucks shit, and the reason they need to reclaim being a space, the general feeling of unease is actually likely to be pretty true to Phrygian's Being? we've got a couple of things that are worth looking at with regards to this

the first is from the podcast itself. please consider Keith's description of Phrygian's true form, briefly shown in partizan when their first war form got motion'd

The second thing is the actual definition of the word phrygian, which we believe reflects a core piece of their character done intentionally from the start. Here's a video about it, if you're curious.

All this is to say: Phrygian at this point in their life is not meant to make people happy. They are a different thing, a thing that is unsettling. They are a sound and an irregular rhythm. They are a haunted deck. And that is a good thing! Branched being viscerally uncomfortable to behold is not just "Waugh Creepy...!!", it means that the things that they are can be hard to accept or like we feel we need to justify or qualify somehow. But this is what Phrygian is! They're fucking spooky! They unsettle people! The feeling of being unsettling is probably something that they find very appealing about themSelf in the first place! That is is the good thing that they are!

the actual fucked up thing about deck seven, we think, is that Phrygian was this thing and it was taken away from them. deck seven is a thing that they lost. it has been five years, things changed, and trauma took away the simplicity of enjoying this state of existence, and they had to find another way to be. and maybe part of that is growing into a different person, but we think it should be known that they could happily have stayed spooky, in the world where they'd had the choice

i do still (occasionally) (also when keith mentions it) think about how noone really interacted with phrygian much outside of their humanoid shape much (room, place, objects etc), and when they did it usually went with a general sense of that being so strange / weird / kind of offputting. and of course part of it is that it's jokes from the cast & saying things like 'i don't want to party inside of you' are just kind of funny, i guess*, and on the other hand (watsonian) i can buy it from the characters who were raised with/under anti-branched propaganda, HOWEVER
