Grow in the Spaces Made For You
There was something calming about the mokuton, something more than just knowing who it came from. If there was ever a truth Tobirama believed in it was that anything born of his brother would never hurt him but it wasn’t just that. Even years after the trees and vines and various plants had been created then abandoned to grow as they would Tobirama had always been drawn to them like small islands of safety. Pools of calm. He couldn’t even say how he always knew them apart from the other foliage around but he did, would know the marks of his brother’s passing even blinded and on the verge of death.
He was not, thankfully, blinded or on the verge of death at the moment. Despite being deep in what could technically still be called enemy territory his only current worries involved the rising temperatures and whether or not this would be the day he finally cooked inside his own armor, too stubborn to change in to something more lightweight when that meant giving up protection against any possible surprises. Battle he was prepared for. Peace, on the other hand, was a much more foreign concept, so much harder to put his trust in. He’d found it to be a delicate balance, working towards peace without letting anyone see how little he truly believed in it himself. Prospective allies were a little squeamish about that sort of thing.
“Chakra for your thoughts?”
A smile touched the corner of his mouth, there and gone again in less than a blink. It was immediately replaced with an exaggerated scowl as a tall shadow fell over him and he looked up to find Hashirama beaming down.
“That isn’t the correct turn of phrase and you know it.”
“No, but you’ve got a headache, don’t you?” Hashirama reached out even as he spoke to lay a glowing hand across Tobirama’s forehead. The relief was instantaneous. “What’s got you so in your own head that you worked yourself in to another headache? I guess you’re still worried.”
“This is your dream, Anija. I’m just being a good little soldier and following orders. Isn’t that my role?”
Opening his eyes wasn’t quite as painful now and Tobirama found that watching the guttation of dew forming was easier than letting their gazes meet. His stomach curdled. It wasn’t something they did, addressing the elephant in the metaphorical room. The fact that he’d never really been a believer but followed anyway. He would follow wherever Hashirama led him because it was Hashirama. Not a fiber in his being was capable of doing anything else.
Sunlight and shadow danced as Hashirama shifted his weight side to side, looking for words to say, but Tobirama only watched the foliage and wondered which mission had brought his brother out this way to leave his creations behind, wondered how long ago it had been. Clearly the plants weren’t suffering having been abandoned after they’d seen their use. There was a time in his youth when he’d thought of himself as destined for the same fate but age had mellowed his dramatic tendencies at least slightly. Hashirama was a better man than to see people only for their use and he was certainly better than abandoning them when they couldn’t be of any.
“Your role was never to follow,” his brother murmured eventually and Tobirama smiled, a little bitter.
“No? What is it then?”
For a moment there was nothing and then simply, “To be loved.”
Startled, his eyes lifted away from the vegetation to snap over towards his brother with both eyebrows crawling up his forehead. That wasn’t any sort of answer he might have expected.
“I beg your pardon?”
“Ah, yeah that came out funny, huh?” Hashirama laughed a little sheepishly but stepped closer anyway, reaching across the space between them to trace the red tattoos he’d always been so fascinated by. “I don’t think I’ve ever really put it in to words but that’s always been the greatest support you’ve given me. I know that you feel useful running missions and working in your lab and finding every way you can to improve the village but that was never what got me out of bed in the morning. Just knowing that you would be there to scowl at the kitchen table until I brought you a cup of tea, knowing I can find you in your office just to give you a hug, even knowing that no matter how busy I am you’re somewhere around the village safe and sound if I want to go stand next to you, that’s always been the most important thing to me.”
“I don’t...understand,” Tobirama admitted slowly.
When Hashirama smiled it was somehow warmer than the hand he raised to cup his little brother’s cheek. “No, you probably don’t. And that’s okay. You’ve always been perfect just how you are.”
For several endless heartbeats Tobirama resisted the urge to chew on the inside of his own cheek, a terrible habit he’d broken all the way back as a child resurfacing now as if it were somehow important that he broadcast just how off balance he felt in this odd conversation. All he’d been doing was watching water gather on a few leaves of forgotten mokuton. He really hadn't expected any kind of deeply emotional conversation.
Really he should have known better. If there was anything his brother was known for it was surprising him, again and again, with just how big of a heart he carried around in that barrel chest of his.
“You’ll keep letting me love you?” Hashirama asked in a strangely quiet voice.
“If that’s what you need,” Tobirama replied, syllables drawing out as if to question what they were really talking about. He very carefully did not squirm when the hand on his cheek skimmed up to run briefly through his hair.
“That’s all I’ll ever need.”
With that Hashirama was stepping away, turning back to the rest of their retinue and making easy conversation as he checked in with everyone, caring for the people under his command as easily as breathing. It always had been so easy for him. Tobirama was left staring at the unnatural plants he’d found and wondering how it was possible to feel so close to home out here so very far from the village.

Day three of @narutorarepairweek. Today’s prompt is any au.
Pairing: HashiramaTobirama Word count: 4333 Rated: E Summary: They have all they need out here on the waves with no expectation but a new horizon - and to end the day in each others' arms.
Follow the link or read it under the cut!
I Don’t Want A Harp Nor A Halo, Not Me
The sea did not judge. Watching the waves part before them and the sea spray up to mist them all with her tempestuous benediction, Tobirama wondered if that was what had called him out to roam the open waters all those years ago. Here where there was frequently no other humans for leagues in any direction and no land in sight for days there was never any need to worry about judgment. No eyes followed him that did not already know and accept and look away when he needed them to. There were no voices to curse and denounce the things that made him happiest.
If not for the wind snapping the loose material of his brother’s shirt he would never have heard the man coming up behind him, bare feet silent on the well-scrubbed deck. He smiled to see Hashirama's pout for not being able to startle him.
“You should have buttoned your shirt if you wanted to be sneaky,” he said, knowing he was only helping to set himself up for the next time but not truly minding. As with most things in life, if it made Hashirama smile then it was worth it, even if he came away looking like a fool.
As quickly as it appeared the pout was gone a moment later in favor of a broad smile. Hashirama looked out at the sea around them, long hair streaming in the wind until he looked nothing short of a siren, beautiful and tempting, the only difference being that Tobirama had answered the call a long time ago and never once had his precious brother given any hints that doing so would end with him scuppered on the rocky ocean floor. Though he could have spent hours of the day standing here admiring the view he was interrupted when Hashirama turned to look back at him. He couldn’t be too mad at the sacrifice though, not when he was then treated to the full weight of that glorious too-wide smile.
“Where are we going today?” his brother asked him.
“That depends,” Tobirama replied easily, the same words they traded every morning. “Wherever your heart leads, there shall I follow.”
“Such a dutiful Otouto.”
“You say that every day.”
Hashirama reached up to trace the ink tattooed in to pale white cheeks as he murmured, “I mean it every day.”
Before there was time for Tobirama to do anything but hum with the slight embarrassment that always accompanied strong emotions, their attention was hailed by one of the crew. He turned aside and very carefully did not react to the way his brother’s fingers trailed along the line of his neck and shoulders until he had moved out of reach. The sea did not judge but his heart was weak to temptation and if he followed the promise of that touch he knew very well that neither of them would get anything done that day. Neither of them had run away to the sea to be lazy.
Helping Kisame with the rigging wouldn’t have taken half as long as it did if either of them were inclined to put a little hustle in to their bustle. But they had made port only a week before, supplies were plentiful while the fishing was good, and none of their crew were going anywhere but for wherever the waves took them. It was a good life for anyone willing to work hard in exchange for escaping the trappings and restrictions of a land bound existence.
Like most of the men and women with them, Tobirama and Hashirama had both grown up on the ever-changing tides. Their father was a minor lord wasting away on the small estate that could have been theirs if they had stayed to inherit it. Instead they followed their mother and learned to love the sea from the bow of the ship she named Home, returning home barely a handful of times before they reached adulthood and decided for themselves that proper society was not for them. Proper society gasped and hissed and cursed them as unnatural for things beyond their control. When their mother passed they inherited their Home and never once had either of them looked back to the places they could never belong.
As first mate Tobirama could have rested on his laurels and left the work of sailing to those who were paid to do so. Luckily for them he’d been raised better than that – not to mention how bored a mind like his would have been if he squandered his days away in such a manner, feet kicked up and hands idle. Men of his intellect were more likely to be found in one of the universities around the Great Elemental Nations but Tobirama was more than happy to entertain himself of an evening with whatever books they were able to pilfer in their travels. Out here where every helping hand counted he was better put to use pulling the fishing lines and trimming the sails, scrubbing the decks or taking his turn cleaning out the bilge water below. More than just efficient, it helped to build a strong rapport with the crew, earning their trust and loyalty both. It was their mother who had taught them the importance of treating those around them well.
Hard workers that they both were, neither Tobirama nor Kisame noticed the day slipping them by until the shadows behind them grew long enough to tempt the monsters hidden by the dark waters around them. It took Hashirama marching out to pout at the both of them for Tobirama to agree with some degree of amusement that perhaps it was time he attended dinner.
Or at least that’s where he assumed he was being pulled away to. He suspected Hashirama might have another destination in mind when they bypassed the mess hall entirely and instead made their way towards the officers’ cabins.
The door to the space they shared had hardly been shut when Tobirama felt himself being tugged around again and he was already wearing a smile even before catching sight of the way Hashirama had to duck under the low ceiling, the single curse of life on the sea. Hashirama had grown up just a little tall for the ship’s construction. They had talked about saving their spoils to have a new one built, something of their own and built to accommodate Hashirama's height on every deck, but nostalgia had so far held them back.
“I believe you owe me something,” his brother murmured.
“Mm? And what would that be?”
“A kiss.” The pout reappeared, shameless. “I never got a kiss this morning and you’ve spent all day away from me.”
Doing his best to smother his amusement, Tobirama affected a solemn expression. “How terribly rude of me to leave you lonely like that. I suppose I’ll have to make it up to you now.”
The words had only barely left his mouth when Hashirama was leaning forward, eyes slipping closed, and the idea of making him wait any longer felt nothing less than cruel to both of them.
A quiet sigh almost of relief whispered in the space between them and Tobirama couldn’t help but smile as their lips pressed together and strong arms slid around his waist to pull him closer. On sea or on land there was only one place he had ever truly belonged: here in his brother’s embrace, fingers sliding up in to his wind-ruffled hair, hearts beating in tandem through flesh and ribs. This was precisely why they had left their father and the judgment of others behind. Tobirama had never known the touch of anyone else but it had taken no more than one fumbling kiss in the night as a storm tossed their Home back and forth for him to know that he would never want to.
Surely nothing in the world could compare to the bliss of a strong hand browned from years under the sun tracing down the side of his neck to slip under his collar. A thumb pressed itself against his fluttering pulse but it was a comfortable weight. Many times before he had trusted his life to this man. Hashirama would not hurt him. In fact he very clearly had plans to the opposite, shuffling forwards to push them towards the large bed bolted to the far corner of the floor.
For the sake of contrariness – and his own amusement – Tobirama resisted when he felt the edges of the frame bump in to his thighs, wrestling with his brother until the two of them tumbled laughingly down to mess the blankets. They continued to tussle until he found himself pinned beneath a solid body with both arms held above his head and a curtain of brown hair spilling around them to block out the rest of the world. It struck him, as it did so often, just how beautiful a man his brother was. Hashirama's eyes were sparkling with warmth as they playfully narrowed at him, almost daring him to be any more difficult.
“Disobeying orders from your captain?”
“I don’t remember you giving me any orders,” Tobirama purred, lifting his chin to show off the sleek line of his neck.
“Very true.” Just as suspected Hashirama was unable to resist. With a low groan he bent to mouth along the fading marks he’d left only a few days prior. “Always so sneaky and clever.”
Feet bare as they were most days, thighs spread to accommodate a thick waist between them, it was all too easy for Tobirama to clench his abdominals and bring his legs up to wrap around the other man, flipping their positions before his partner had time to realize what was happening.
“Sneaky am I?”
“Or maybe I am. How do you know this wasn’t what I was after the whole time?” Hashirama's lips curled up in a sly grin as he rolled his hips agonizingly slow, chuckling when Tobirama glared down at him.
“Have I been outmaneuvered?” he asked.
“You might be a genius but you’re not the only smart one around here,” Hashirama answered with a bit of mock preening in his voice.
Tobirama considered that for a moment. Then he rolled his own hips just to listen to the startled gasp from below and feel the interested twitch against his bottom. “If you were really smart you would quit stalling and get to the point, Anija.”
“I’m not the one who interrupted with play fighting!” His brother flashed him a mighty pout. “You started it!”
“Semantics. Now I’m going to finish it.”
His brother was laughing again when he leaned down but that was okay, joy always tasted sweeter when shared between them. When he rolled his hips again this time they were caught between two palms so Hashirama could drag him down and grind their bodies together properly. Quite suddenly there seemed to be too many layers of cloth between them, too much clothing separating their skin. Tobirama offered no protests as he felt the ties of his pants being struggled with, wriggling one hand between them to pull at the loose hem of Hashirama's voluminous shirt. Sometimes it was annoying that the man never bothered to tuck in his clothes but in moments like this when desperation drove him to clumsiness it was nothing short of a boon.
Getting either of their shirts over their heads was a bit tricky when Hashirama all but refused to move his hands away from struggling with a particularly stubborn knot in the pant laces he couldn’t seem to figure out. Several minutes had already passed and little whines of frustration were beginning to slip past his lips by the time Tobirama had wrestled his top off and slapped the hands away from his crotch to do it himself. Patience had never been his greatest virtue.
It wasn’t the most graceful maneuver he’d ever made but somehow or other he managed to divest himself of cotton and leather without removing himself from such a delicious position spread over his brother’s lap. Hashirama's pants, thankfully, came undone so much easier but by that point they were both a little too impatient to do anything with them.
Tobirama arched his back and stretched up, almost able to touch the low ceiling still, rumbling with pleasure under the nails that raked themselves gently over his chest and sides, circling his nipples teasingly. When he looked down again he flicked his eyes towards the nightstand bolted next to the bed. Only officers were afforded the luxury of private quarters and furniture rather than an open room lined with hammocks and cots. He couldn’t imagine a life without somewhere to stash the balm Hashirama twisted to scramble for now or four walls to muffle the sounds of their pleasure. Being on top had its perks.
And that applied to more than just the chain of command.
The first soft touch against his entrance was a question that very nearly made him scoff. If he wasn’t in the mood he would not have gotten himself in to position so freely. He answered by rocking his hips down against those questing fingers and lifting one brow in challenge, huffing in amusement when it made his partner shiver with want. Hashirama had always rather enjoyed his enthusiasm for the love they shared. Others would condemn the depths of their partnership but Tobirama had never known the love of another and he would never want to. This was where he belonged and where he wanted to stay. Putting his money where his mouth was had never been a problem for him before and it wasn’t now, rocking with the rhythm of the ocean beneath them and teasing them both with the slide of Hashirama's trapped cock between his cheeks.
“Such a minx,” the man breathed, making him laugh.
“Only for you, Anija. Don’t pretend you don’t enjoy it.”
Hashirama's fingers left his skin for only as long as it took him to cover them with balm and then they were back, tracing the edges of his hole more to tease now than to explore. “I like everything about you, Otouto.”
When he pressed the tip of his finger inside it was like being invited on the path towards home. Tobirama braced himself against the solid sun-kissed chest he loved so much and arched to show off the lines of his neck again, soaking in the whispers of admiration and the whines that Hashirama couldn’t reach to lavish him with new love bites. He paid little attention to the latter. They would have more than enough time for that after he was properly stretched and finished giving the show he knew his partner wanted.
As almost always happened, any sort of hurry that Hashirama might have been in seemed to dissipate as he pushed in a little deeper and sighed with the simple pleasure of being inside his lover in some way. Tobirama would have offered him a fond smile, amused by such a silly idiosyncrasy, but he was rather distracted at the moment by riding the finger working its way deeper and the murmurs of praise from below. If Hashirama could not reach to lavish attention on him with lips and teeth he was always prepared to do so with words whispered in to the heated air between them.
Holding himself in place, Tobirama bit down on his lower lip and thanked the gods of the sea that they had skipped dinner, grateful the rest of their crew was distracted with the roar of the mess hall. There was undoubtedly no one close enough to hear whatever noise they were about to make.
Not that it would matter very much if there were. Each of the crew members on board their ship had been hand selected for their trustworthiness and their utter lack of shits to give about two brothers who wanted to roll around in the sheets together. There was no one here that wasn’t aware of their relationship. And there was also no one here who cared. If there did happen to be anyone late for dinner who heard a noise they didn’t like they were more than welcome – and likely – to simply remove themselves from the area.
“Come back out of your head, Otouto,” Hashirama's voice murmured. When he blinked the ceiling came back in to focus and Tobirama realized that he had drifted away to float, his thoughts tenuous and fleeting, ruled by the sensations heating his skin from the inside out until the rest of the world seemed almost to fade away. It wasn’t distraction, per se, but it had always made his brother pout not to be the center of his attention. He leaned forward and bent to lay a kiss on those lips in apology.
“I’m here with you,” he said.
“Really?” The skepticism was only teasing but still he pushed close for a deeper kiss.
“Always.”
Lightning sparked along his nerves when Hashirama answered by adding a second finger, wiping out the ability to even let his thoughts wander. For a time nothing else existed but the bliss of being opened at such a torturously slow pace. He was approaching the verge of begging for his partner to speed things along a little when a slight shift just so sent fire licking through his veins as spots of color exploded behind his eyes. Only by sheer force of will was he able to hold himself off from spilling his seed right then and it was clear the move had been deliberate when Hashirama chuckled low in his throat. When he began to rumble praise for holding together so well Tobirama cracked his eyes open and glared.
“Do get to the point, Anija,” he said. Hashirama let out a bark of laughter.
“Such sweet words from my precious little Otouto. You really know how to seduce a man, don’t you?”
“I shouldn’t have to seduce anyone with three fingers in my ass!”
With a nod like he was conceding the point Hashirama slowed his movements, free hand reaching for the little jar of balm. Tobirama reached out to snag the jar first and shuffled backwards impatiently the moment he was empty so his partner had room to finish disrobing. Viscous and smelling faintly of the herbs it was made from, he’d never been fond of having it slathered all over his own hands but desperate times called for desperate measures. He hardly allowed Hashirama time to free his legs before reaching forward to curl his fingers around the steel-hard invitation just waiting for him to sink down on to it. A smirk flashed across his lips when the other man gasped. Then he was climbing over those gorgeously solid thighs once more and reaching behind to line himself up just right.
As thorough as his brother was he very nearly slid right down to the hilt immediately. Both of them moaned in unison as though the sounds had been punched out of them, ragged, edged with relief like this was where they belonged. Tobirama let the motion of their Home rock him gently, inching down until he rested flush in the cradle of his brother’s hips. With his eyes closed he listened carefully to the unsteady breaths filling the small room and smiled.
Then he braced himself and rose up only to glide back down with carefully controlled movements. Bliss. For this he had spurned the land and the mutterings of those who cared for such inconsequential things like morality and social standing. For this he would travel the sea from end to end with nothing but a raft and a scrap of sail to get him there. This, the feeling of belonging, completion, the safety of knowing that no one could ever love him better, this was all he needed to be whole. No jewel or treasure or any pleasures of the land could ever call him away from this. It was hard to imagine anything that could ever make him feel better than he did when he was filled to his limit with Hashirama, hot and hard and perfect in every way. And from the unfettered gasps filling the room he would guess his brother agreed.
“Otouto,” Hashirama breathed, “gods you always feel so good!”
“Flattery will get you everything you want.” The teasing tone he was going for was lost in a gasp when his brother rolled his hips up, grinding deeper in to him.
“I could - ahhh - I could flatter you for hours if that’s what gets you going.”
Tobirama ducked his chin to level his partner with a heated look. “You know exactly what gets me going.”
And so he did. Hashirama rose to the unspoken challenge beautifully, both hands coming up to trace the shape of his hips, dipping in to scrape at his sensitive inner thighs before skimming farther up to pinch at even more sensitive nipples. Both of them had spent endless hours learning each other’s bodies and all the places to drive the other wild. All he had to do was ask and Tobirama knew he could have any fantasy come true in an instant.
Had, in fact, fulfilled them all many times over throughout the years.
Were they in any other position he might have almost been tempted to call himself selfish. As he lifted himself again and rode their bodies together like an inevitable wave he decided this was fair. He was the one doing all the real physical work here, it was only right that Hashirama indulge him a little in return. With as much exercise as he got on a daily basis it wasn’t exactly a strain holding his own body weight but that was entirely besides the point. So what if he enjoyed being spoiled sometimes? He didn’t need to ask to know that Hashirama did not mind at all being handed an open opportunity to lavish attention on the man he loved.
Of course, there were side effects to being the center of such an enthusiastic man’s attention. Both of them had been blessed with stamina in spades but even Tobirama’s iron willpower couldn’t hold out forever under the onslaught of so much focused pleasure. It was somehow too soon and too quick when he felt his thighs begin to quake; not with the strain of muscle but with the effort of forcing himself to go on when all he wanted was to collapse and allow these glorious sensations to course through him. He could tell his brother was close as well when he felt hands pawing at him to draw him down where he was met with a fierce kiss that curled his already permanently curled toes.
“You’ll be the death of me,” Hashirama gasped.
“Let it be a good death,” was all the response he managed before he watched brown eyes roll back and the hips underneath him surged upwards, punching a guttural cry from his throat at the same time that Hashirama gave vent to the same long rumbling moan that had first awakened this desperate need they still shared for each other, a sound he first heard in the dead of night when he was supposed to be asleep that sent him tumbling over the edge now because he knew it had belonged to him ever since.
When the rhythm of his movements faltered Hashirama took hold of his hips and bodily lifted him, rocking him up and down just to listen to him gasp at the sharp bursts of overwhelming pleasure. Only when he slammed one hand out to support himself against the wall and begged for mercy was he allowed to come to rest. The moment he was stationary Tobirama collapsed forward and buried his face in Hashirama’s sweaty neck.
For several minutes he simply breathed, taking in the scent of salt and sex, as free here between four small walls as he had ever been. Eventually he felt his perch shifting and a hand came up to stroke down the length of his bowed spine.
“Alright?” Hashirama’s voice rumbled.
“So long as I’m with you,” Tobirama whispered, so many promises in so little words.
“I love you too. We should probably get cleaned up though. Now that I’ve sated this hunger my belly has a lot to say about another.” He chuckled and it was almost apologetic as though he wasn’t the one who usually wanted to lounge around in bed and cuddle for hours afterwards.
Gathering the will to sit up did take another minute or so but Tobirama forced himself to straighten, wrinkling his nose at the mess now smeared across both of their bellies. Cleaning themselves sounded heavenly at the moment. He grimaced a little more at the feeling of his brother’s softened length sliding out if only because he was a sentimental fool who had never enjoyed the emptiness that always followed these moments of being whole. Thankfully they had long built the habit of keeping a basin in the room with water and a cloth which he used now to clean his own backside, rinsing the cloth and tossing it over for his brother to use as well.
The two of them had only managed to slip their trousers back on when the sound of a brass horn met their ears through the wooden decks. Both men froze, their eyes meeting. In the next instant they had abandoned the rest of their clothing in favor of reaching for weapons hung by the door. That sound could only mean only thing: an unfriendly ship was approaching. Battle was calling. Neither of them gave even a single thought to how it would look for the both of them to appear on deck in such matching states of undress when the rest of their crew had been busy at dinner. It didn’t matter to them who saw the evidence of their happiness.
The sea did not judge.

A gift for @writhingbeneathyou :D
Pairing: HashiramaTobirama Word count: 7628 Rated: E Summary: As an alpha uninterested in finding a mate and even less interested in examining why, Tobirama has long decided he would rather spend a lifetime following his beloved older brother.
Follow the link or read it under the cut!
Where I’ve Always Belonged
Sometimes Tobirama felt a little silly applying scent before battle. He was already an alpha, no one would ever know the scent was natural rather than applied if he skipped perfuming himself. But a tradition was a tradition and if his father had ever been right about anything it was that a shinobi could never have enough precautions. If all the omega in their clan had to apply scent to hide themselves then the alphas would do it too; no enemy would ever be able to tell the difference between who was actually an alpha and who was merely hiding their true dynamic.
From an early age he had taken his cues from the older brother he idolized, readying himself for war in his own room, a private time that he allowed no one to intrude upon. Some things are learned without questions and from watching Hashirama he learned that battle preparation was a very personal ritual. Today he stared at himself in the mirror and wondered how the world would change now that he only had one other alpha he needed to bow to. Bending his spine for Butsuma had always been a challenge no matter that the man was his own father and deserved a certain amount of respect for being the leader of their clan, if nothing else. With Hashirama it was different. In all his years Tobirama had never once felt threatened by his older sibling and it made coexisting in the same house much easier between them.
Perhaps he should have been more saddened by his father’s death a few weeks before but Tobirama had lost most of his familial affection for Butsuma the day he attempted to strike one of his own children over the freshly dug grave of another. Without the man around Tobirama found himself only glad not to clash so often with another alpha who may have equaled him in strength but surpassed him in authority only by virtue of having taken power before Tobirama was born.
Now he had only Hashirama to follow and Tobirama would follow his beloved Hashirama anywhere. Even in to battle with the Uchiha where he knew his brother would seek out the one he insisted on calling friend so many years after Madara himself had declared their friendship ended. Checking himself over one last time to make sure he had all the weapons and seals he typically carried with him, Tobirama stepped out of his room and moved down the hallway to rap his knuckles against Hashirama's door. The importance of respecting a person’s private space had been beaten in to him at a young enough age that it didn’t matter how long Butsuma lay in the ground, Tobirama would probably never let himself in to another person’s room without knocking for the rest of his life.
“Are you ready, Anija?”
“Just a moment!” The sound of Hashirama's harried cry made him roll his eyes. If ever there was a time to put his best foot forward it would be now while his position as leader of the Senju clan was still a bit rocky. Inheritance was one thing but there were several alphas who saw an opportunity for themselves in a young untested heir.
“You should be ready before anyone else,” Tobirama called through the door with a shadow of disapproval in his voice.
He listened for the huff he knew was coming and then Hashirama was throwing open the door to stick a tongue in his direction. “I just forgot something okay!”
“Sometimes I swear you would forget your own skin if you weren’t wearing it.” Tobirama shook his head and turned to leave, Hashirama scrambling after him and already wearing a pout.
“Would not! I mean, I’d be bleeding all over the place and there would be so many muscles and bones exposed; even I couldn’t miss something like that.” He grinned in triumph as though making the final point in an argument. Tobirama blinked at him slowly and decided he simply looked too happy to fight with.
Hashirama got out of many arguments by looking happy. It was a weakness Tobirama seemed to suffer only for him and it was, in a word, embarrassing. No hardened shinobi should be so weak to a simple smile.
Together they left the house and made their way towards the front gate of the Senju compound where Hashirama took point at the head of their forces and Tobirama stayed where he had always belonged, a single pace behind to watch his back. Where he had chafed at his position of third in command when their father was head of the clan he was perfectly content to remain second in command so long as it was Hashirama in front of him.
Battle that day was much like any other. Lives were lost, blades were crossed, blood was spilled and sworn over. Hashirama made straight for his lifelong rival to hold his might at bay and spout the benefits of making peace between them for the hundredth time. Despite being rebuffed each of those hundred times he persisted with no sign of having his enthusiasm lessened in any way. Of all the annoying things in life that had to be one of the ones Tobirama hated the most, although he’d never been able to pinpoint exactly why it should bother him if Hashirama wanted to waste his breath yet again. It wasn’t like he didn’t spout the same crap to everyone else he met as well.
In the end the battle culminated as it always did, with no clear victor only because Hashirama still refused to bring the full force of his might to bear against the people he believed to be as tired of war as he was and as ready for peace if only the one leading them would finally agree. Madara stood true against his opponent until the last of his people had quit the field. Then he spat at Hashirama's feet with a sneer and told him to stop dreaming of rocks. Those who understood the epithet only sighed.
Tobirama happened to think his brother was foolish to keep chasing such an impossible dream but that didn’t mean he enjoyed seeing the sadness on Hashirama's face as he led their people away from the same scene that had played out so many times. If he could give no other comfort then he could at least give the man a few moments to himself after yet another rejection, leading their people away and heading the march back home. Hashirama caught up to them when they were halfway there, bumping shoulders with his younger brother and offering a smile as a silent thank you. No other words were needed.
“A victory, I would say,” Tobirama noted.
“Can it ever truly be a victory when there have been lives lost?” Hashirama asked.
“We’re shinobi. It comes with the territory.”
“It shouldn’t have to be this way, though.” When he looked over Hashirama had leveled a devastating pair of puppy eyes at him.
Tobirama was having none of that. “Don’t preach at me, Anija. You know very well that while I am more than willing to go along with whatever direction you lead us in I also have less than zero faith in the idea of making peace with the Uchiha. That is your dream, not mine, so don’t come crying to me unless you want me to say I told you so again.”
“You don’t have to be mean about it,” Hashirama pouted.
“And I don’t have to be nice about it either. The benefits of having a forgiving brother.” Lifting both of his eyebrows, Tobirama dared the other to challenge him. He was smugly satisfied to see Hashirama's nose shoot up in to the air. No comeback; not a surprise.
When they returned to the compound it was a relief to let Hashirama deal with the debriefing and reporting to the elders while Tobirama himself was allowed to slip away. Even with only two people left in their now too-big house there was still hot competition for who got to bathe first on any given day. If they were still young boys they might have bathed together and done away with any fights on the matter but Tobirama could vividly remember the exact day when Butsuma decided they were both getting too old for that. Hashirama had been sick through the night and Tobirama wanted only to help soothe the older boy, maybe wash his hair for him since he enjoyed it so much, but he was turned away at the door and cuffed around the ears as he was told that boys their age should respect each other’s privacy in these matters. They had bathed separately ever since.
Slipping in to the hot water was an almost euphoric experience, as it always was for him. Water being his element meant that he was happy to submerge himself in any sizable body of it at a moment’s notice but hot water was always an extra pleasure. As soon as he sat down he could feel the tensions of this never-ending war slipping away to leave him almost entirely free of worries. Today’s clash had left him with no open wounds but several new bruises and relaxing in a bath was just the thing to help loosen his limbs so they wouldn’t cramp when the bruises muscles began to throb.
By the time he emerged from the natural pool their house had been built around he felt ready to face whatever idiocies the rest of the day had to throw at him, cleaning the water as he left after his hour of languishing. If pattern held he would probably make time for another quick soak before bed for no other reason than that he wanted to but for now he decided to have mercy and allow Hashirama a turn to soak away the grime of sweat and blood.
As he suspected, that familiar woody chakra emerged from the room across the hall as soon as he slid his own door shut and headed straight for the bathing pool. Tobirama smiled as he dressed himself in a plain yukata, delving in to the calm of having his precious person close just to keep up his own relaxing good mood. Something must have been bothering Hashirama though because, instead of the usual happy lassitude he always seemed to carry, his chakra was laced with a strange frenetic energy that tasted like worry. That couldn’t mean anything good.
It was just strange enough that Tobirama stayed in his room instead of going out to speak with one of his many cousins about whipping them up a few meat pies for dinner as he had planned to. That could wait until after he’d made sure nothing life-ending had come up during Hashirama's meeting with the elders. Only the gods knew what kind of madness went on in the minds of those old coots.
To allow for some respectful distance in case talking would have to wait awhile, he pulled his senses back in to himself and set about puttering around his room to keep occupied. Mostly he read through some of the correspondence waiting on the desk growing out of his floor, drafted a few replies, poked at a few of the trade requests the Uzumaki had sent them. All things that needed to get done anyway so he could justify waffling around in his room until he was needed. Once or twice he got up to clean some trifling messes that didn’t really need cleaning yet until finally his patience was rewarded by footsteps down the hall and a light rapping at the door. Without getting up he turned in his chair and called for Hashirama to enter but when he did Tobirama frowned.
“Why did you send a clone?”
“I, uh, whatever do you mean?” A beaming smile tried to distract him but he only frowned.
“You’re not the original. I can always tell.”
Hashirama let out a nervous smile and poked the ends of his pointer fingers together. “Ah, haha, how can you tell? I have the same chakra!”
“Because I can’t smell your clones.” Tobirama stood up slowly to approach the clone with a suspicious face. “Which you know already. Are you in your bedroom? I’m coming to see you; you’re being strange and I want to know why.”
“Wait! Hold on! I wanted to talk to you before you go in my room! It’s important!” The clone hurried after him but Tobirama ignored it and continued on his way.
Seeing that it was hopeless trying to stop him the clone puffed out of existence to give his original at least a little warning. A quiet squeak sounded from down the hall only a moment later and Tobirama rolled his eyes. For all the work he had put in to creating a jutsu that would allow him to create his own solid clones he still had no preference for communicating with one. It felt wrong speaking with someone and not being able to smell them, knowing that whatever he was sensing might not be what the person was truly feeling at the moment. It felt duplicitous.
Just before he reached the door he heard a bit of quick scrambling that made him roll his eyes as he knocked, opening it at his brother’s call to find Hashirama standing in the middle of the room with his body language all but dripping with nerves, not something he had seen too many times in his life.
“Anija,” he greeted the man slowly. “Why are you sending clones instead of talking to me yourse-…your…is there someone else in here?” Before he could even get through one sentence Tobirama stopped dead, nearly bowled over with the most incredible scent he’d ever gotten a whiff of in his life. It was undeniably omega and entirely unfamiliar.
“No one is in here but me,” Hashirama said and Tobirama huffed, taking another step in to the room.
“Do you think I can’t smell that? There is definitely an omega in this room. Have you found some kind of seal to conceal them from view or are they under your bed?”
“I promise! There’s really no one here!”
Tobirama took another step forward but the denial that someone must have just left in that case died on his tongue as his attention was redirected. With every step closer to Hashirama the scent grew stronger. Logically that must mean that a strange omega had come in to contact with him. Tobirama was well aware that sniffing another person’s scent off his brother was the absolute height of poor manners but he found he couldn’t quite stop himself, not when the smell was this enticing. Hashirama had never cared about personal space anyway.
Leaning away from him, Hashirama giggled nervously again.
“Um, so, this is what I wanted to talk to you about so before you do anything–”
“It’s you.”
“What?”
“The smell, it’s coming from you. Not like it’s on you but as though it’s coming from your scent glands. Why do you smell like an omega?” Pretending he was only drawn in by the mystery absolved him of a lot of the awkwardness that came from stepping close enough to shove his nose right up against Hashirama's neck, breathing deeply and fluttering his lashes closed.
Something inside of him shifted like an awakening, primal and eager, encouraging him to take another deep inhale and shuffle closer until their bodies were almost pressed flushed against each other. From this close he could hear every shuddering breath rushing passed his ear yet instead of making him leap away with shame as he normally would it only made his blood pound harder. With a light quiver in his voice Hashirama began to babble.
“Please don’t be mad at me! I – I didn’t want to keep it a secret! Father made me keep it a secret from everyone but he’s gone now and…and…Tobi?” Swallowing thickly, unaware of the fact that the motion of it had definitely caught Tobirama’s attention, he went on. “Of course he thought I would present alpha and everyone else did too but when I didn’t he said I would have to pretend to be the son he deserved. He made me wear scent everywhere I went and a different scent for battle to keep up the lie but he said I couldn’t even tell you because the more people who knew the more likely it was for the secret to get out and – Tobi are you listening to me?”
“You smell…so good.”
“Oh. Thank you? I mean it’s – you smell nice too. You always do.”
It was the way his voice came out small and hesitant that cut through the fog in Tobirama’s mind, pulling him back just enough for his hindbrain to recognize that this was his brother before him.
His brother whom he had grown up believing was an alpha and yet never felt threatened by in any way, the brother who now smelled like the most enticing omega he had ever met, the brother who had apparently had the wrong dynamic forced on him since the day puberty hit in what was probably a very confusing and terrifying first heat with no other omega there to help him through it. Their mother, he recalled, had been away on a mission when Hashirama fell sick.
Were he in full control of his faculties this would surely have been a much more overwhelming revelation but at the moment the only thing he could concentrate on was the incredible scent. In all his life he’d never felt more drawn to an omega before. Generally he tended to look upon other alphas with scorn for having so little control over themselves and yet here he was unable to convince himself to step back. The fact that this was his own sibling might have made him jump away if he were a Hyuga or something, one of the clans known for rejecting sibling mate pairs, but the Senju had always believed a true imprinting should be pursued no matter what relation you were to each other.
Of course, if the match were too closely related the omega usually volunteered for sterilization to prevent harm to the next generation but that was a whole other basket of worms. It didn’t happen very often anyway. And that was definitely not what he wanted to be focusing on right now.
“I always smell–?”
“Just because I had to apply scent to cover my own doesn’t mean my nose didn’t work anymore.” Hashirama flushed, obviously trying to say something else with his words.
“Okay.” Tobirama frowned. For once his head was too muddled to read between the lines. All he wanted was to bend his neck and press against the source of that glorious fragrance again. His eyes slid down against his will to linger on the brown expanse of skin before him, so tempting, and now that he was thinking from new angles he noted for the first time that Hashirama's neck had a very pleasing shape.
What the hell that meant he had no idea, only that he suddenly could think of little else but that neck.
“Can I…I promise I’m not trying to be weird or anything but…”
“You can do anything you want to,” Hashirama told him in a breathy voice.
Tobirama took him up on that. In an instant his face was buried in warm skin and his hands had found their way over broad hips before he’d actually given the movement any thought. Surprisingly – or he supposed not too surprisingly considering the pheromones mixing around them – Hashirama moved placidly wherever he was asked to and made no complaints about being held tightly against the alpha so intent on taking in his scent.
“Feel like I should have figured this out on my own at some point,” Tobirama said distantly, mostly thinking about how he could have experienced this euphoria a long time ago if he weren’t so blind.
“Ah. I had to…um…” Hashirama shifted against him and purred a little when the arms around him tightened. “I guess my habit of ignoring social boundaries was kind of helpful. And most people still don’t expect an omega to be stronger than an alpha so…”
“Hiding in plain sight. My clever Anija.”
“Clever. Wow. You don’t usually call me that.”
Tobirama smiled through the fog. “Because usually you’re a dunderhead.”
“Hey!”
“But right now you are a clever little thing and if you don’t push me away I am going to embarrass us both.”
Completely subverting his expectations of a mortified shriek and strong arms pushing him away in panic, expectations that were quite reasonable when one considered who he was standing with, Hashirama fairly melted against him and tilted his head just a bit to one side, exposing a little more of his neck in what was clearly a submissive manner.
“Why should either of us be embarrassed if it’s something we both want?” he questioned.
“That sounds dangerously as though you’re asking for something I truly would not have expected you to be interested in,” Tobirama mused. In retrospect he could guess that the clone had been intended as a way to break the news to him before he had a chance to react in such an animalistic nature, something he’d taken to mean Hashirama didn’t want them to act on these base, instinctual urges.
“Are you interested in…those things?” Hashirama's overly hopeful tone left him with an entirely different impression than sending the clone had.
“I suppose that depends; we should probably make sure we’re on the same page here.” Drawing small circles with his thumbs in an instinctual effort to keep the omega calm, Tobirama bent his head down to slowly draw the tip of his nose up the side of Hashirama's neck. “This is alright?”
He knew his answer by the muted whine that slipped out before his brother could say anything.
“Yes, alpha.”
Tobirama bit his lip to contain the rush that went through his body. He never thought he’d be the type to get turned on by such base and simple words. Apparently he was as much a slave to his own body chemistry as everyone else but it was hard to be upset with himself for such weakness just then. It was much more interesting to graze his lips over the hammering pulse calling out to him like a beacon.
“And this?”
“Yes.”
“Hmm. And what about…this?” Tobirama parted his lips and let his tongue dart out for just a little taste, instantly craving more. “Is that alright too?”
Fairly shaking in his arms with the effort to stay still, Hashirama whined again. “Yes, alpha. Yes please.”
“So kind of you to be so polite,” Tobirama purred in approval. Feeling bold with so many positive responses, he scraped his teeth along the jugular vein and down across the man’s shoulder until he heard a desperate mewl and Hashirama clutched at him suddenly.
“Don’t tease, Tobi. Alpha. My alpha? I want – please?”
“Oh, am I teasing?” The lightness of his tone contrasted sharply with how badly he wanted to sink his teeth in and claim the omega before him but he got a laugh when Hashirama let out a small huff of frustration. Knowing how much it usually took for his brother to reach the end of his rope, Tobirama felt a little smug that he could get such a reaction with only a few not-enough touched.
“I am not above begging if that’s what you want,” Hashirama groaned.
Knowing the man was actually serious about that very nearly brought Tobirama to his knees but he stood strong and finally let the restraints fall away to take what he could now say for sure they both wanted. Pheromones flooded his mouth as well as his nose like a mind-bending cocktail the second he dug his teeth in to thick muscles and brown skin. Hashirama arched against him with a shuddering cry and Tobirama had never felt so powerful in all his life.
Not the sort of power one wields on the battlefield or in political circles, something to be brandished as a weapon, no. This was the much more heady power to give pleasure to another and until this moment he had never realized the euphoria therein. Having Hashirama fall to pieces in his arms from a bit of nibbling and a few light draws of his tongue along whatever skin he could reach made him feel as though he could touch the sky and yet it wasn’t long until this wasn’t nearly enough. There was so much more he could do, so many ways he could please the omega in his arms, and he found himself grinning as he tried to imagine what his brother would look like in the throes of ecstasy.
Gorgeous, obviously. How could he have never realized the connection between them?
Slowly leading the both of them step by step over towards to the bed, he thought to himself that it suddenly made a lot of sense why he’d never been all that interested in mating with any of the omegas who presented themselves to him. Even without being able to smell what was hiding underneath the false alpha scent Hashirama had used, it was obvious something inside of him must have recognized the true match that had been right under his nose all this time. With how rare they were many still believed in the misconception that imprinting had no element of choice. Tobirama would be thrilled to tell anyone who asked that both of them still had a choice and Hashirama had obviously chosen him a long time ago; he was only too happy to choose the same in return.
Instead of tumbling them both down on to the mattress when they reached it Tobirama paused and rooted his brother to the floor with one look they both knew from many missions together meant he wanted the man to keep as still as possible. Waiting to make sure Hashirama was going to follow his order, he took a single step back and reached between them to pick at the knots on both of their obis.
After the well-worn cotton of their yukatas slid away to puddle on the floor they were both left bare to each other’s eyes, each man devouring the other with a singular kind of hunger that left Tobirama wondering how he hadn’t figured out his brother’s secret before. Looking was quickly followed by touching of course. Tobirama guided his brother down to the bed and soothed the heat between them with long swipes of his hand over the planes of that glorious chest, tracing every line he could see, then dipped his head to taste them. His omega mewled and arched in to the touch.
“Tell me what you want,” he rasped against warm skin, tongue laving at the ridges of sinful abdominal muscles.
“Anything alpha is okay with,” Hashirama whispered back. His eyes were closed and his face tilted up as if praying to the gods above them but he gasped and looked down when Tobirama nipped at his skin.
“Now is not the time to be coy. I asked you to tell me what you want.”
Layering his voice with the authority of an alpha made his partner quiver with want, writhing under him and whining as he tried to ride out a sudden wave of lust while Tobirama watching without shame for enjoying the sight. And what a glorious sight he made. Hashirama was resplendent as he bucked and squirmed through his mental battle against two decades of habit pushing his own needs down until finally he blurted them out with little grace.
“I want alpha to claim to me! Please, please fuck me Otouto!”
“Fuck. Yes. I can do that.”
Tobirama wasted no more time. Having his own desires practically shouted at him might not have been exactly romantic but romance was quite far from his mind at the moment. All he could think about was the way Hashirama's cloying scent thickened and grew more potent with every touch, more enticing by the second.
As large of a man as his brother was his bed was still fairly small, barely able to fit its single occupant. With two of them on the mattress space was rather crowded but Tobirama found this worked to his advantage as it gave him more excuse to stay close while he skimmed a hand down the outside of Hashirama's left leg to grasp at the ankle. He fitted himself in to space made when he folded the man’s leg up, spreading tanned thighs as easily as he might spread the pages of a well-loved book, and reveled in the sensation of all that skin pressing against his own as he leaned forward to bury his nose in the source of the pheromones that were driving him so wild.
It almost felt as though he were viewing the world through a haze as he licked and tasted all the skin he could reach, drunk on the melody of Hashirama's helpless pleas for more. He had only just realized his own disappointing lack of lube when he found a bottle of it being pressed in to his hands as though he needed more proof that the two of them worked perfectly together. Hashirama swelled with pride when he murmured praise for thinking so far ahead.
Pulled himself back enough to squeeze a bit of lubricant in one palm was almost a physical pain, separation when he wanted nothing more than to burrow himself closer, but he managed because easing the way would stop him from causing any pain and to hurt Hashirama would only hurt himself in return. No omega deserved to experience pain when a joining like this was supposed to bring them only pleasure and safety. And Hashirama more than anyone else deserved pleasure and safety. Forced to conceal his true self since the moment he discovered it, it was nothing short of an honor to be the first one trusted with a glimpse of the person he was always meant to be.
Shifting back up the bed, Tobirama nuzzled at his brother’s jaw before taking his lips in a kiss to distract from the fingers reaching down between them. Hashirama bucked at the first touch against his entrance, a soft keening sound escaping as one finger slipped inside. Almost immediately the older man began to buck his hips as he tried desperately to get just a little more friction but Tobirama held strong, refusing to go any faster than he thought his brother’s body could handle. Clearly if he had been hiding his dynamic for this long he was untouched, his inexperience obvious even in the way he kissed, and rushing in to things would only end with pain.
Which, obviously, was an unacceptable outcome. If Tobirama had his way his omega would never experience pain of any kind ever again for the rest of his life.
Hashirama keened loudly to be finally gifted with a second finger and despite the red painted across his cheeks in embarrassment he made no move to silence his own noises, for which Tobirama was grateful. Keeping his own needs in check was made easier knowing that he was making his partner feel good. In that moment – for the rest of their lives – the most important thing in his world was the need to make sure his partner felt safe and happy.
“More,” Hashirama panted below him. “Want- need more!”
“Patience, Anija. You can be patient for me can’t you?”
“I-! Yes. Yes I can be patient. I can be whatever alpha asks me to be.”
Tobirama hummed and ducked his chin so his brother wouldn’t see the flutter of his eyes and how ridiculously affected he was by those words. He busied himself with the distraction of two pert brown nipples just begging for his tongue and his teeth, riding the wave as Hashirama writhed under the dual stimulation. From the startled cries he gathered that the man had never thought to explore this part of himself before and discovering yet another first he was blessed to give sent a thrill right down to his toes.
Adding a third finger only increased the glorious sounds filling the air around them. Really two fingers was probably more than enough considering Hashirama's body would have instinctively prepared him to accept his new mate but Tobirama was nothing if not cautious and he wanted to do this right.
When finally he slipped his fingers out and reached down to coat his own length with the lubricant Hashirama was keening with almost every breath and begging senselessly as he panted, not even seeming to realize he was doing so. Despite having asked the man to be patient Tobirama allowed himself a moment of pride to have pleased his mate so well before reminding himself not to get distracted. Right now was not about him. He could preen later.
“N-now?” Hashirama gasped and Tobirama couldn’t help but to lean down and kiss him.
“I certainly can’t wait any longer,” he murmured. “Be a good omega and turn over for me, yes?”
Hashirama's answer was to execute a perfect flip in the limited space between mattress and mate without even bothering to ask for a bit of room to do so. When Tobirama did move away a few inches Hashirama immediately pushed his face in to the bedding and lifted his hips high, presenting shamelessly. The sight of him was so arousing that for a few moments all Tobirama could do was stare in wonder.
As soon as he recovered he was crawling forward to drape himself over the other man’s back, curling to press every inch of their bodies together that he could. He rutted in to the cleft between his brother’s cheeks and inhaled deeply of the scent that had first called his attention to the potential hiding right under his nose for so many years.
“Mine now,” he whispered, as mindless as the whimper that slipped from the body under him.
When he lifted himself away Hashirama cried out as though in loss but Tobirama soothed him with a few strokes down the length of his spine and at the same time grasped himself with his other hand, lining up with the entrance waiting so eagerly to be filled.
Pressing inside was the sweetest heaven, an exquisite nirvana unlike anything he had ever experienced before. Unlike what he had expected in the base act of copulation, it was not the pressure around his length that made him stop and take a deep breath to control himself, although he would freely admit that did play a factor. It was instead the sensation of utter completeness and rightness as he made himself one with the mate he was always meant to be with, the one he had imprinted on the moment he finally took in Hashirama's natural scent. With their bodies together he was whole in a way he could not describe but it was an instant addiction.
He was hardly surprised to hear the man underneath him give a weak protest as he shifted his hips to pull out slowly. Nor was he surprised when driving his hips forward again in a steady rocking motion dragged echoing groans from both of them as they were made whole once again. If not for how much he cared for his partner Tobirama knew he would have been completely lost the moment he took up a proper rhythm, such was the pleasure that left him so beyond words.
Rather than losing himself he leaned forward and braced his weight on the bed with one hand, the other reaching forward to weave between Hashirama's fingers where he was gripping a handful of cotton as though his very life depended on it. Then Tobirama bent a little further until he could sink his teeth in to the delicious brown neck peeping out between curtains of silky brown hair.
With a lewd sound the likes of which he wouldn’t have thought the man capable of Hashirama thrashed, instinctively trying to shove himself further back on to the cock filling him. Following his most primal drives Tobirama snapped his hips again and closed his eyes to enjoy the symphony playing just for him. Their rhythm was broken and hurried, nothing like he had ever imagined love-making would be, but it could not have been more perfect. Every shift of weight and twitch of limb was accompanied by new and enticing sounds drawn from Hashirama like he couldn’t help himself, every thrust met with a roll of tanned hips at just the right angle to have Tobirama snapping his own just a little harder, and he would not have changed a thing.
As much as Tobirama wanted to say it felt like forever and not enough at the same time, as much as he wanted to fall victim to the romantic clichés his brother loved so openly, he was at his core a creature of habit and he knew exactly how long had passed by the time he felt his knot beginning to swell. Draping himself a little farther around Hashirama's body was an instinctual response he didn’t bother fighting. He may never have indulged in physical pleasures before but he understood his own body well enough that he knew exactly what to expect when his thrusts grew shallow and his omega began to whine.
“Please,” Hashirama pleaded mindlessly. “I want it!”
“You’re sure? There’s no need to rush, we’ll have plenty of time to-”
“Please, alpha! I want- I need- just please! Don’t make me beg!”
Tobirama pressed his forehead against the nape of his brother’s neck and flashed a grin unseen. “You said you were happy to beg,” he felt compelled to point out. “But how could I say no when you ask so prettily?”
Having grown to adulthood as an alpha he was more than aware what a knot was and what it was for. He’d been given the mating talks when he was younger and he understood what it meant to knot an omega, not to mention now. What he hadn’t been told but really should have expected was the way it felt. Tobirama could feel every last reserve of dignity he had left shattering inside him and bursting out as a sharp cry when he felt his knot pressing inside for Hashirama's body to clamp down around him, both of them immediately giving in to the convulsions of a spectacular orgasm, clinging to each other and rutting mindlessly.
Unsurprisingly, Hashirama was the first to settle in to minute shivers and fall as still as possible while his limbs struggled to hold him up. He whimpered yet again when Tobirama rutted in to him once more.
“We’re gonna be stuck like this, aren’t we?” he asked between gasping pants. Eyes still clenched shut as he rode the continuous waves of pleasure that came with being knotted inside an omega, Tobirama grunted and pressed a few kisses to the back of his partner’s neck.
“For a while,” he panted back. “Are you okay? I tried not to hurt you but I – nnnh – I lost control for a bit.”
Hashirama's eyes were dopey and glossed over with exhaustion when he turned to smile happily around one shoulder. Just looking at him made Tobirama’s heart skip several beats, his entire being suffused with the sudden need to protect and pamper this gorgeous, precious creature he was blessed to be mated with.
With that in mind he very gently began maneuvering them both on to their sides as best he could while their bodies were locked together, trying hard not to be too obvious about the aftershocks still running through his system. He’s read in a book once that an alpha could experience several orgasms during the knotting and until now he’d always thought such rumors were utter nonsense. As Hashirama squirmed against him he rethought his stance on what constituted nonsense. Nothing should hace the right to feel that good.
“Otouto…”
“Are you sure everything’s alright?” Tobirama asked worriedly.
“Could you hold me a little tighter? Everything is…so much more perfect than I ever imagined.”
“I can do that.” Touched, he did as he was asked and shuffled his arms to hold more of his brother’s massive frame between them.
The two of them curled in to each other as best they could, weaving their hands together and clutching tighter whenever another wave of shivers ran down Tobirama’s spine. It was hard to believe that only a couple of hours before he hadn’t even known his brother was an omega and now they were mated, a bonded pair for the rest of their lives. Not in his wildest dreams could Tobirama have imagined someone more perfect for him than his own older brother.
He had, in point of fact, long contented himself with the idea of following his brother for the rest of his life without actively seeking a mate of his own, entirely devoted to whatever his Anija asked of him. To have happiness handed to him as a reward for his efforts and to know that he would make his brother even happier in return was more than he could have ever asked for.
“I guess we can’t really keep it a secret that I’m not an alpha now since I’ll smell different, being mated and all.” Hashirama made no effort to contain the joy in his voice to say it out loud and it made Tobirama smile a little wider.
“Are you okay with everyone knowing?”
“Even if I wasn’t there’s really no going back now.”
Humming in agreement, Tobirama nudged that back of his partner’s neck. “You knew didn’t you? You imprinted on me a long time ago.”
“Yes. I hope you’re not mad. Not telling you was…it was really hard.” Turning his head, Hashirama looked over one shoulder again with the echoes of a deep yearning in his eyes. “Sometimes I would be sitting right next to you and I would miss you. I don’t know how else to explain it. But it was lonely because I wasn’t allowed to say anything about being an omega so I definitely wasn’t allowed to tell you I had imprinted on you as soon as I went through puberty.”
“I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this alone,” Tobirama murmured softly.
They didn’t speak for a short while after that. When they were finally able to separate Tobirama pressed his brother gently down on his back and insisted on fetching some damp cloths to clean them both up himself. He made sure to keep his touches as careful as he could in the hopes of conveying even a fraction of the love and care he felt for the man he was granted the chance to pamper. If he had his way there would be a lot more pampering in the future. Actions had always been easier than words for him. Only when they were both clean and he had fetched a clean blanket from his own room to pull over them did he finally lay back down.
With their arms around each other, face to face on the single pillow they were sharing, the two of them passed a moment simply taking each other in and letting the reality of everything that just happened settle. In different ways this would both change everything between them and yet also change very little. Tobirama lifted one hand to trace his brother’s face, thinking to himself that he couldn’t wait to discover those changes together.
“Mate,” he whispered, rolling the word around on his tongue just to enjoy the sound of it. “I promise that I will try to be everything you need of me.”
“You always have been,” Hashirama told him.
“Mn, even when I angered you? We’re rather infamous for having different viewpoints.”
“You have always been everything I could ever ask for and more, so much more than I deserve. When we see things differently that just means you’re helping me think from a new angle I wouldn’t have considered on my own!”
Tobirama huffed. “I should have expected you to be so kind. Now shush, let me hold you for a while. Sooner or later someone is going to come along and demand your attention for something, they always do, but right now you belong to me and only me. I intend to make the most of the time that I can.”
“Oh my. I…I like that.”
“Like what?”
Hashirama grinned sheepishly. “Hearing you lay claim to me like that. I liked it. It feels very nice to be wanted.”
“You are always wanted,” Tobirama murmured gently and his partner melted against him with a happy purr.
As promised, he tightened his arms to squeeze them together and then loosened his grip to let them both lay comfortably, eyes closed and bodies sprawled in complete relaxation. Never in his life had Tobirama been more grateful for his own sensing capabilities. If he weren’t a sensor he would not have been able to feel Hashirama’s turmoil earlier, he would not have been able to tell he was speaking with a wood clone, and who knew if he would have ever truly discovered the euphoria waiting for him just down the hall. What a mediocre life it would have been to never have Hashirama by his side in the way he was always meant to be.
Forever.

Pairing: HashiramaTobirama Word count: 3691 Rated: M Summary: A chance movement at just the right time grants them a new beginning, their dreams come true.
I do commissions on my main blog!
Sweet Serendipity
Hashirama looked up eagerly at the sound of the front door opening, his expression falling again immediately upon catching a proper glimpse of the young man walking in to the house. Exams time was never easy on any student but this semester in particular seemed to be driving his brother in to the ground. Coming up on the end of his second year in university, Tobirama had been running himself ragged for the past several months with so many assignments it was hard to keep track and now he had all but stopped sleeping as he studied for what he called the hardest exams of his life.
With a grunt that sounded almost like a wounded animal Tobirama dropped his backpack by the door, kicked off his shoes, and shuffled towards the living room. Knowing his terrible studying habits he probably hadn’t eaten anything all day and yet the lure of the couch won out over the growling his stomach had no doubt been doing since well before noon.
“Bad day?” Hashirama asked, wincing when the younger man flopped down on the loveseat so hard his head actually rebounded off the cushions. With gentle motions he slid his own body in to the small space left and reach out to pet his fingers through soft white hair.
“I’m fucking exhausted. After tomorrow I am going to wrap myself in every blanket in this house and sleep for an entire week.”
“Oh! Right! I forgot that tomorrow was your very last exam! Well, I’m still off from work for another week or so, I’ll make sure I stay quiet so you can rest.” He smiled even though Tobirama’s eyes were closed. Almost no one but him ever got to see these moments when his little brother let the world get to him in some way and showed some small form of weakness, even just by admitting that he was tired.
With a hum Tobirama curled further in to the arm of the loveseat. “How’s your foot doing?”
“Still a little sore.” Hashirama peeked down at the bandages just underneath his left toe where he’d stepped on some glass. A martial arts teacher that couldn’t demonstrate any of the moves was sort of only half useful so he’d handed off his classes to one of the assistant sensei until he healed.
His heart fluttered in his chest when Tobirama hummed again and blindly reached back to pat him on the arm in sympathy. Displays of concern like that only came when his walls were down and Hashirama treasured them all, hoarded the memories of each and every time Tobirama made the bond between them more obvious. How such an open-hearted family had produced such a reticent man he would never know but still he wouldn’t change his baby brother for the world.
Edging a little closer, he tucked some of the man’s hair behind one perky little white ear and giggled to himself. Tobirama shifted one shoulder in an effort to shoo him away but it didn’t work. He continued playing until finally his sibling heaved himself upright with a monumental sigh of effort.
“Why do you always pick the worst times to be annoying?” he whined.
“Because you will get much better rest if you fall asleep in your bed,” Hashirama told him. “Go on. I’ll wake you up in a few hours when I’ve got dinner ready.”
No matter what happened, Hashirama would always insist that he leaned over then to kiss his brother with nothing but innocent intentions. His only thought had been to give him a little goodnight peck somewhere unremarkable like the side of his head or the temple, something he had done a hundred times or more, just a quick little smooch with no other thought behind it. He certainly didn’t expect for Tobirama to turn his head at the last second with the intent of saying something. Their lips connected dead on and for a couple of men who were supposed to be intelligent – in their own ways – both of them took a few seconds to react.
Incredibly, neither of them jerked backwards like their face had caught fire. Hashirama had always thought that would be Tobirama’s first reaction to even the slightest sign of his brother’s deepest darkest secret. Instead they pulled apart slowly with matching wide eyes and racing pulses – or at least he assumed Tobirama’s pulse was racing too. Hashirama could hear his own blood thundering so loudly in his ears they could probably catch the echo of it three cities over.
“You kissed me,” Tobirama said, his voice very quiet and very shocked. Hashirama swallowed against the breathiness in those words.
“I just meant…the side of your head. That’s all.”
“Sure but– I mean I believe you. But. You kissed me.”
“By accident!” Panic rose with every second that passed as Hashirama scrambled through his fumbling brain for any coherent sentences to string together in his own defense.
Tobirama blinked once, tilted his head, and lifted his chin just so. If it were anyone else Hashirama would have said he was inviting another kiss but that was, of course, impossible. It didn’t stop him from imagining it and letting a tiny squeak of panic escape him as his pulse jumped up again.
“You didn’t stop,” his brother pointed out. “For a second I thought you were…kissing me back.”
“I promise I would nev- wait, back?” Hashirama froze, staring down his own impossibilities and admiring the sudden flush creeping up Tobirama’s neck.
“Back, yes.”
Cautious, unsure if he was actually seeing what he thought he was seeing, Hashirama kept very still while his thoughts continued to race. He could almost swear that Tobirama was implying he felt the same way, the same yearning, and the way he had positioned himself could almost suggest he wanted it to happen again. The very idea of it was intoxicating but Hashirama knew he had to be careful. If he was mistaken he could ruin everything between them and the last thing he wanted to do was lose his brother in any way.
Sure he had fallen in love with the younger man despite knowing how wrong it was but they would first and foremost always be brothers. Family was more important to him than anything.
The temptation to at least try, however, was too much. Hashirama held his brother’s gaze as he lowered his head just a fraction of an inch. When Tobirama didn’t move away he did his best to hide the way his breathing shuddered and moved a little closer. They danced like that for several minutes, neither speaking as Hashirama drew closer bit by bit and Tobirama steadily held his ground. When they were only a hairs breadth away Hashirama saw the younger man’s lips tilt up at one corner in a soft smile he’d only seen a handful of times before.
It gave him the courage to cross that last bit of space and then…and then they were kissing. Tobirama pressed back in to him, one hand flat against his chest but not pushing him away, moaning as if this was something he’d been waiting a long time for. Everything about this moment was so perfect Hashirama realized he didn’t care if he was dreaming or hallucinating or anything else. All he cared about was winding his fingers in to that soft white hair he so loved to play with and kissing the brother he treasured so much with all the passion he’d been holding back. The incredible relief of finally being able to express his feelings, there were no words for it.
“Okay,” Tobirama gasped against him. “Either I’m much more awake now than I was five minutes ago or I was never awake and this is all a dream.”
“Pretty much my thoughts,” Hashirama said with a nervous titter.
“I never thought…”
“Me neither. Can I kiss you again?”
Tobirama nodded frantically with a fervent, “Please.”
He grunted in surprise when Hashirama all but tackled him but responded in kind, throwing his arms around Hashirama’s shoulders and moaning for a second time as he was gently lowered backwards until he was once again lying across the couch. Only this time he was stretched out on his back in the small space available with Hashirama crouched between his bent knees, chests pressed together and lips moving desperately as they both allowed their pent up longing to explode all at once.
It felt nothing short of divine to have Tobirama’s body against his own like this. Every shift and movement rubbed against him in glorious ways he’d barely dared to imagine even on the darkest nights when he was sure he was alone in the house. When he bit down on his brother’s lip and Tobirama bucked up underneath him Hashirama hardly thought to resist.
Nothing in the world had ever set his blood to pounding quite like the feeling of grinding his hips down and feeling Tobirama roll up in to him with a mewl of pleasure. Hashirama kissed with everything he had and rocked his hips down again. Already he was hardening in his jeans even as his brain struggled to catch up to the fact that this was really happening. If the entire world had fallen down around their ears at that moment Hashirama wasn’t sure he would have noticed in the slightest, so wrapped up was he in the man underneath him, the taste of their tongues brushing together and the sensation of electricity running down his spine.
Without even thinking about it he pressed his brother deeper in to the couch and began grinding their hips together like a teenager chasing his first orgasm. It had been years since mere frottage had done anything more for him than build an interest in further foreplay yet here he was worried about coming in his pants and still unwilling to slow down unless he was asked to – and Tobirama didn’t seem all that interested in asking him to back off.
They rocked together like eager adolescents as Hashirama finally dragged his lips away from Tobirama’s and made his way across that beautifully sharp jaw line, nibbling and sucking as the raspy voice in his ear whispered his name with such reverence it made him shiver.
“A-Anija…” Tobirama arched in to him and gasped when it provided a little extra friction.
“Oh Tobi, my Tobi.”
“No, wait, can – ah, do that again!”
Hashirama grinned against the pale skin he’d just bitten, lapping at it soothingly before sinking his teeth in again just to listen to the startled moan it earned him. “What were you going to say?”
“Can you…can you call me…um…”
As unusual as it was for Tobirama to be so hesitant, Hashirama figured it must have been something embarrassing that he was trying to ask for. Rather than make a big deal out of it he slowed the rhythm of his hips by a mere fraction and laid a trail of soft kisses up the side of his brother’s neck. When an idea occurred to him he, too, hesitated for a moment before leaning back up to whisper in the other man’s ear, pitching his voice as low and sultry as he could make it.
“Otouto?” He guessed. Tobirama gasped raggedly and bucked.
“Yes. That. Please, Anija, just–!” A desperate sound escaped him that went straight to Hashirama’s cock, encouraging him to quicken his hips again and pull back just far enough to look his brother in the eye.
“Otouto,” he growled against Tobirama’s lips before taking them with his own and swallowing the moan they gifted him.
Together they writhed, kissing like it was the only thing keeping them both alive, and before long their movements grew frantic as they both drew close to their peak. Each time Tobirama turned his head to curse softly that he felt good or that he couldn’t believe this was happening Hashirama dragged him back in for more kisses, desperate, unable to fathom the idea of not kissing this gorgeous creature that he loved so much.
He only realized how close Tobirama was when he began to whimper, hips losing their rhythm and instead grinding upwards almost comically fast. Watching him fall apart was both fascinating and the sexiest thing that Hashirama had ever seen in his life. That might have been a biased opinion but Hashirama couldn’t care less, not when Tobirama closed his eyes and arched his back with a sharp wordless cry, the one leg not trapped against the couch kicking out involuntarily as his muscles spasmed.
Before Hashirama had time to do more than think about pulling away, probably finishing himself off with his hand, Tobirama had caught him around the back of the neck and pull him in for yet another kiss, still bucking frantically against him.
“Shit, please don’t stop,” his sibling whispered against his lips.
Already close to the edge himself, those words alone nearly sent him tumbling over. For whatever reason knowing that Tobirama had a kink for that too-much sensation just after orgasm was a massive turn on and it didn’t take very long before his rhythm began to falter as well. Hashirama spilled in to his own boxers barely more than a minute later and it was hard to tell whether he or Tobirama was shuddering more than the other.
Hashirama felt almost weak in the aftermath of such an intense and unexpected orgasm. A dazed, lazy smile pulled at both corners of his mouth as he nuzzled at Tobirama’s tattooed cheeks and dropped kisses everywhere he could reach.
“You were so good for me, Otouto,” he whispered mindlessly. “Such lovely reactions. And you feel so good against me, better than I could have dreamed.”
“Nngg…” Tobirama’s cheeks flushed deeper than ever but he didn’t pull away so Hashirama counted it as a win.
“I can’t believe this. I just – there aren’t enough words in any language for me to tell you how happy I am right now. That you could ever feel the same…I love you, Tobi. I love you so much.”
He drank in the sight of Tobirama’s shyly lowered gaze and the pleased note in his voice when he mumbled the sentiments back. Then he bit his lip to hold in a breath of fond laughter to see Tobirama crack his jaw on a wide yawn. When he came home he had already been exhausted and ready to pass out; it was no surprise that the exertion of an unexpected orgasm might drain him even more. Already his eyes were drooping to half-mast and his body all but melting where he was still pressed down in to the corner of the loveseat.
Not wanting to be the reason he missed out on any much needed rest, Hashirama leaned over him to dust gentle kisses against his forehead and the tops of his eyelids, whispering sweet nothings in a low murmur that he knew always helped his brother fall asleep quicker. As much as he would love to revel in the discovery of their shared feelings he knew it was something that could wait for later. Tobirama had worked hard over the past year to reach that final exam tomorrow and he would perform much better if he was well-rested. They had all the years ahead of them to celebrate the love they had found. Keeping him awake right now would only be selfish.
It wasn’t an immediate fall. Tobirama stayed awake for several more minutes, though just barely. Just enough to murmur in protest every time Hashirama shifted with the intention of getting up and each murmur came with a denial that he was in any way falling asleep. Despite his insistence, however, he was out like a light before long and Hashirama was able to stand up at last, looking down at the adorable picture he made complete with a naughty little wet patch in the front of his pants.
Carrying Tobirama to bed was bed was easy despite the pain in his wounded foot. Getting the man’s pants off and wiping him clean without looking was harder but Hashirama felt a bit like a creep for wanting to peek, almost like he was ruining a surprise that should be Tobirama’s to give him, so he struggled on until he thought he’d gotten at least most of the mess and slid a pair of pajama bottoms on instead. Then he tucked his brother under the sheets, kissed him goodnight, and retreated downstairs.
The next couple of hours were a strange mix of euphoric high and yearning loneliness. Several times he found himself wandering in the general direction of their bedrooms with the thought that all he wanted was just one more look at his beloved baby brother, maybe to lie down beside him and take a nap as well, but each time he made himself turn around and go find something else to occupy his time. It was a relief when he checked the clock to see it was finally an acceptable hour to start cooking dinner. Setting down the magazine he hadn’t really been reading, Hashirama hobbled off to the kitchen to pull out all the scraps left in their fridge from the last time they’d gone grocery shopping and began throwing it all together for a hearty hotpot.
Nearly an hour later he was confident that the soup wouldn’t take much longer to cook, a perfect time to go wake the sleepyhead upstairs. Hashirama cast about for the wooden spoon he’d been using, wanting to stir their dinner one more time before heading upstairs. As soon as he spotted it, though, it was clear that going anywhere was unnecessary. The kitchen door opened before he could even lift the lid of the pot and Tobirama shuffled in with an odd little pout sticking his lower lip out. Hashirama beamed over his shoulder.
“Welcome back to the world,” he said. Tobirama paused just inside the room with a confused and almost hesitant expression.
“Hello…”
“Is something wrong?”
“No.” Tobirama met his gaze and immediately looked away, uncomfortable. “I just…I think you were in one of my dreams is all.”
Hashirama let one of his eyebrows rise in a suggestive look many thought him incapable of. “Oh? Would you care to tell me what you were dreaming about?”
To his surprise Tobirama shook his head with a wild look in his eyes, as though the very thought nearly made him panic. “I would rather not. Dinner’s ready? I’ll get us some drinks.”
He hurried over to open the fridge and Hashirama absently stirred the soup a few times to give himself something to do while he watched his brother from the corner of one eye. Something was off. Just a few hours ago Tobirama had been perfectly fine but one little dream and suddenly he could barely look in Hashirama’s direction. It was odd. More than that, it was something Hashirama had seen a few times before and never gotten an explanation for until right in this moment as he tapped his spoon on the side of the pot and had an epiphany.
A smile had already returned to his face when he set everything aside and turned around. He waited patiently until Tobirama finished set the table, no longer holding anything breakable in case he dropped something in surprise, then he slid across the linoleum as gracefully as he could and drew a startled Tobirama in to his arms.
“Can I guess what your dream was about it?” he murmured.
“I don’t think you’ll get it,” Tobirama said, visibly unsure what to do with his hands or where to rest his gaze until Hashirama caught his chin and guided their eyes to meeting.
“You’re so precious Otouto. It wasn’t a dream, even if it does still feel a little too good to be true.”
Trying not to laugh at the wide-eyed look of disbelief his brother gave him, Hashirama bent down to press a soft kiss against frozen lips. He pulled back with the intention of teasing the other for thinking that what happened between them earlier had been nothing but a fantasy of the mind, for thinking it hadn’t actually been real, but there wasn’t time for that. Before he could even open his lips he could almost see a switch in Tobirama’s brain flicking on as he realized the truth.
In the next moment he had already pounced. Hashirama squeaked with surprise when he was slammed back against the fridge but it faded in to an appreciative groan as Tobirama all but devoured him, eager kisses that set his blood to boiling, an edge of fierceness in every movement that almost spoke to possessiveness.
He was very okay with that.
“Told you I could guess what you were dreaming about,” he murmured in between kisses. Tobirama grunted and pushed a little closer.
“Evidently I wasn’t dreaming at all so you’re still wrong.”
Hashirama laughed. When his brother’s vicious affections moved down his neck and his mouth was free he asked, “Should we have dinner first? I like where this is going but don’t think I can’t hear your stomach rumbling again. You need food. First I take care of you and then afterwards–”
“Afterwards I take care of you.” The sultry tone left no doubt as to what Tobirama meant with those words. Hashirama shivered and held him a little tighter.
“If you want to,” he breathed.
“Believe me, I’ve wanted many things for a long time now. This is just the start of the list.”
Hashirama whimpered and abruptly shoved his brother away. “Food first.”
Both of them were wearing color high on their cheeks as he snatched the bowls off the table and hurried across the room to dole out two portions of soup. If they ate fast they could both have at least two bowls of good hearty food then shove the leftovers inside the fridge and be upstairs within half an hour. Tobirama wasn’t the only one with a list to work through.

A gift for @writhingbeneathyou!
Pairing: HashiramaTobirama Word count: 1762 Rated: E Summary: If all Tobirama needs is a few kind words, well, Hashirama has always been more than happy to give his little brother whatever he desires.
A Few Kind Words
With steam from the hot water curling around his limbs as the tub slowly filled beside them Tobirama could almost be mistaken for some sort of water spirit, pretty and perfect, captured by the mortal bonds of woven twine around his wrists and the large hand combing through his hair.
“That’s it, Tobi,” Hashirama crooned. “Yes, that’s it. You’re doing so well.”
Mouth stretched wide around his brother’s leaking cock, Tobirama whimpered but managed not to look away. That was always the part he struggled with the most. For all the confidence he exuded in every move he made outside the house where others could see him the man was surprisingly shy in the bedroom, forever looking away in embarrassment for his own reactions. Hashirama thought it was simply the most adorable thing ever. Also hot, very hot.
And who could blame him for enjoying the sight before him so much? Surely there was no one alive who could possibly resist the image of Tobirama on his knees with both hands tied loosely behind his back and a deep red flush spread across the apples of his cheeks. Like the good boy he had promised to be, his eyes remained up and locked on to his big brother’s even as he did all he could to work the cock in his mouth without the aid of any hands, his own hips jerking helplessly every so often even as he did his best to ride out the motion whenever Hashirama did the same.
“Just look at you. Do you know how perfect you look for me? You’re so pretty; I don’t want to share you with anyone else.” Hashirama continued to stroke the man’s damp hair and grinned when Tobirama’s eyelids fluttered but remained determinedly open. “Good boy Tobi. You’re being such a good boy.”
Tobirama’s entire body quaked in need under the weight of his words. With muscles as well trained as his he could have easily broken the twine keeping his wrists tied behind him and Hashirama could not have been more pleased to see the way he carefully shifted to make sure that didn’t happen. It was obvious how badly he wanted to touch himself, heavy and full where he hung neglected between his own legs, but he’d been told to behave and he had always been so good at following orders.
“Oh, just like that. Yes, just a little more tongue. Good boy, that’s it. Yes. Don’t stop now, precious boy, beautiful little Otouto. The world will never know how perfect you look with your mouth so full of me.” Keeping his words steady with such glorious pressure sucking him off was a talent Hashirama knew his brother envied – and appreciated. “Should I set up a mirror so you can watch the pretty faces you make the next time I fuck you? I think I should, you deserve to see how perfect you look for me.”
Praise and encouragement continued to drip from his lips like fine wine and with each word the need in Tobirama’s eyes grew more and more desperate until Hashirama could practically feel him shaking as he redoubled his efforts. Shuffling a bit closer he bobbed his head to take just a little more in to his mouth, tongue working along the length as best he could, and Hashirama made sure to tell him when he got things exactly right. Tobirama had always responded well to praise, he’d found, and here in the bedroom things were no different – well, except for the fact that here the results of his improvement were pleasant for the both of them.
Combing damp locks back from his brother’s face, Hashirama gently pet and stroked Tobirama’s head and murmured a continuous stream of what would sound innocent in any other context. Both of them enjoyed the filth that rolled so easily off his tongue but he had learned that it was the innocence in his tone that affected his partner the most.
As demonstrated when Tobirama began to whimper, shoulders straining with the effort of obeying the order to stay bound, body quaking so hard he looked moments away from falling apart. Hashirama tugged very gently on a single lock of hair and the haze that had fallen over the eyes locked with his lifted ever so slightly. Such good behavior should always be rewarded, Hashirama thought.
“You’re doing so perfect, Otouto. I think you should be allowed to come. Don’t you? You’ve been doing so well. After all. You’ve been such a good boy.” After so long together he knew exactly how to drop his voice in a rumbling purr, delivering his words with maximum impact to give Tobirama that last little push he needed.
Right on cue he watched as Tobirama’s eyes closed at last and his entire body shook under the force of his orgasm, completely untouched, coming apart under for nothing more than the caress of his big brother’s words. The combination of watching his partner’s pleasure and the damp heat still determinedly working his length was just enough for Hashirama to tighten his hand in Tobirama’s hair and go crashing over the edge himself. His shameless cry of ecstasy echoed off the walls of their wet room, nearly loud enough for the family next door to hear them were it not for the silencing seals Tobirama had cleverly worked in to the walls of their home when the village was first being built.
Even as they both slowly came down from their high Tobirama never moved. He remained as still as he could until the quake of his body faded to a light tremble and he found the strength to flutter his lids open again. Then he waited patiently until Hashirama met his gaze again before he began to gently suckle at the softened length still filling his mouth.
“Cleaning up after yourself,” Hashirama noted in a pleased tone. “Someone’s being extra good today. I think that deserves a reward as well.”
Only when fingers began to card through his hair again did Tobirama pull back and allow Hashirama to slip out from between his lips, which curled up in to a smile immediately. Despite the mess between his legs and hands tied behind his back he had never looked so relaxed and languid. He almost seemed ready to melt in to a small puddle of satisfaction. Hashirama saw no reason to resist the urge to bend down so he could steal a kiss from those pretty lips. They belonged to him, after all, and he’d noticed that it usually took a little longer for the stress to return to Tobirama’s form when he was distracted with soft loving kisses.
With gentle hands he reached around to trace the length of twine wound about his brother’s wrists, smiling when Tobirama leaned forward to nuzzle one side of his jaw.
“Let’s get this off and then we’ll slip in to the tub, okay?” Hashirama bit his lip when Tobirama nodded silently. “You can speak if you want to, Otouto.”
All Tobirama did was nuzzle him once more and then rest silently against his shoulder. Either he was beyond words at the moment or simply too content to bother with speaking but Hashirama didn’t see either option as a bad thing so he set to work unknotting the twine. Just pulling until it snapped seemed a bit too violent for the mood that had settled over them both and he was loath to ruin the soft atmosphere. He went for the longer option, though it wasn’t too much longer since he hadn’t used a very complicated knot.
Once the twine slipped free Hashirama very carefully brought Tobirama’s arms back to the front and gently rubbed them to soothe away any soreness, blessing each wrist with a single kiss before standing and leading his brother over to the tub. He twisted the knob to shut off the water as they slipped in and pulled Tobirama in to his lap before the other man could settle too far away.
“You belong over here,” he murmured.
Still non-verbal, Tobirama let his tired smile speak for him instead.
When his eyes slid closed Hashirama held him a little tighter and slowly began to wet his hair by cupping the bathwater in one palm and dribbling it over his head. It earned another smile and although he knew that doing it this way would take forever Hashirama continued dribbling water, feeling rather like he’d won something precious.
“I love you, Otouto,” he whispered. “You did so well for me today. You are so precious and so, so loved. I hope you always remember that.”
“Love you too.” Tobirama’s voice was distant and quiet, hovering on the edges of sleep.
Hashirama let him rest with a kiss to one shoulder. Years ago when he had first discovered his little brother’s most potent kink, the way he would do most anything for a kind word and shook himself apart under the weight of endless praise, he had been thrilled in a way Tobirama hadn’t expected. He remembered the way his partner had been so embarrassed by his own desires, ashamed as though it were a weakness to enjoy praise for a job well done, until Hashirama had pointed out what was, to him, the most important thing.
Not a word of praise had ever passed his lips that he hadn’t meant. Being handed an excuse to give voice to his overwhelming love was the greatest joy he could possibly imagine. Of all the various things he might have guessed Tobirama would find pleasurable Hashirama was glad that it was something they both enjoyed so much.
Tilting his head back to rest against the wall surrounding their tub, Hashirama closed his eyes own eyes as well and set his mental alarm to wake him up in fifteen or so minutes. Not that he wanted them to get out so soon, just that a nap sounded rather lovely right then but the opportunity to observe Tobirama resting peacefully without waking the man up was rare and precious, not something to be wasted. In fifteen minutes he could go back to playing with his brother’s hair and memorizing that beloved face for the millionth time.
But for now he would sleep with Tobirama held tight in his arms and rest easy knowing that, for at least a little while, everything was perfect in their small pocket of the world and that his most precious person was as happy as he could hope for the man to be.

If I may, please? “I like your laugh.” HashiramaTobirama
He could smell the sake even before Hashirama stumbled in through the front door, sensitive nose twitching and wrinkling under the onslaught when his sibling tripped over the armchair and stumbled over to fall across his lap.
“I was reading that,” Tobirama drawled, hands wriggling pointlessly where they and the text he’d been studying were now trapped under a reeking body. Hashirama beamed up at him.
“Guess what I did? Go on, guess!”
“You drank an entire liquor cabinet, clearly.” Giving up on the book - and praying for the state of its spine - Tobirama extracted both hands just to rub at his temples.
Snickering, very much not getting up, Hashirama swatted at his arm. “Noooo. Guess again!”
“This is not my favorite game.”
“I won!”
Tobirama raised his eyebrows, reluctantly impressed. His brother was building an alarming habit of spending his nights at this or that gambling den, racking up debt and taking too many poorly thought out chances. For all the nights he came home reeking of alcohol this was the first one he’d ever reported any sort of luck at whatever games he chose.
Releasing a sigh and forcing his shoulders to relax, Tobirama reached out to straighten his idiot brother’s hair. He must have fallen down a few times on the way home because it looked an absolute rat’s nest. He was going to have a terrible time combing it out in the morning - especially while battling a hangover.
“Congratulations,” Tobirama told him quietly.
“Awesome, right? I won lots!”
“You know I’m taking all of it to help pay off everything you owe those blood-suckers, right?” His smile became a vicious grin at the look of shocked betrayal Hashirama sent him.
“So mean!”
Tobirama shrugged. “I can’t keep paying them off for you forever. I’d like access to my own income sometimes, you know.”
“Oh…you do that?” Hashirama tilted his head, messing up all the effort that had gone in to straightening his hair, but the look of wide-eyed wonder was a little too kicked-puppy-cute to stay mad at him for it.
“You didn’t know? Why do you think they keep letting you come back!?” Rubbing at his temples again, Tobirama growled, “Everyone else has to pay off their gambling debts; what on earth makes you think you don’t?”
“I’m the Hokage?” Hashirama suggested in a very small voice.
Tobirama gave him a very long, very stern look. Then without warning he callously rolled the older man off his lap and on to the floor. Hashirama yelped as he felt gravity take him and then grunted when he impacted the unforgiving hardwood. When he rolled over it was to pout up at the younger man.
Devoid of any mercy, Tobirama shook his head. “Being the Hokage does not put you above everyone else. It means you protect everyone else and guide them. You would do well to set a better example in the future.”
“Well! I never! What a way to treat your own big brother!” Hashirama huffed and puffed and did his best impression of being offended when he really wasn’t. His sibling made some good points that he had been too big-headed to see. Starting tomorrow he would need to take a good hard look at himself and check for any other behaviors he had been indulging without thought.
Struggling to roll over, Hashirama made to stand up with the thought that he should probably go to bed. Self-improvement always started with a good night rest in his opinion. Unfortunately in his scramble he failed to realize that the ends of his hair were trapped under his feet so when he stood the yank on his scalp made him shriek and tumble backwards again.
For a few moments there were no sounds in the room but for his pained groans, rubbing sadly at his head. Then Hashirama looked up in awe when he heard something rare and beautiful.
Tobirama was laughing.
He did his best not to make a sound or disturb the moment as he slowly freed his hair and sat up, watching with a smile on his face until finally Tobirama calmed down. The younger man rubbed at his sore stomach as he faded off in to soft chuckles. Then he paused when he saw how Hashirama was staring.
“What?”
“Nothing,” Hashirama said, “It’s just…I like your laugh. You should laugh more.”
“Hm. Stand on your own hair more often.” Tobirama smirked and then it was Hashirama chuckling. Laughing and a joke all in one day, he certainly hoped this wasn’t an alcohol fueled illusion.
When he dropped his head down on Tobirama’s lap he felt his brother jerk in surprise before a hesitant hand patted him on one shoulder.
“Are you feeling ill?”
“No. Just comfy. Can I sleep here?” The last of his words were slurred on a wide yawn that nearly cracked his jaw.
Tobirama hummed above him. “You’ll get an awful crick in your neck if you do.”
“Worth it,” Hashirama mumbled.
“Ah. Very well then.”
Something rustled, the sound of Tobirama retrieving his discarded book, but Hashirama only closed his eyes and settled more comfortably on the lap supporting his head. He felt it when the other man rested the book atop his spine and smiled for the comfort of a familiar touch.
Tomorrow, he promised himself sleepily, tomorrow he would find a way to show Tobirama how much he appreciated everything his little brother did for him.

Chapter 49
@redhothollyberries Congratulations on getting your new job! In celebration, here’s the HashiTobi chapter you requested for the Soulmate Collection!
Under the cut and also on AO3!
Pairing: HashiramaTobirama Soulmate au: The one where you and your soulmate have matching tattoos somewhere on your body
In a twist of fate that he doesn’t come to appreciate until a few years later, Tobirama was the first to see Hashirama’s mark. Spending one’s birthday on a battlefield was nothing new and Hashirama hadn’t complained when he woke that morning covered in cold dew and colder leaves, marching through the dawn towards the trap they were looking to spring. Surprising the squad from the Shimura clan who had been hoping to surprise them gave their soldiers enough of an edge that the battle was surprisingly quick.
It had also made his brother cocky. Hashirama had leapt in to the fray with wild swings of his blade that made Tobirama despair as he chased after the older boy, guarding his back and removing anyone who sought to strike him from behind. When he heard Hashirama cry out in pain his worry was overlaid with a thick layer of exasperation. By the time he was able to get his brother off the field and locate a med-kit he was already halfway through a lecture about being more careful. Hashirama curled his head inwards and muttered apologies over and over while Tobirama rolled his eyes.
“You’re going to get yourself killed,” he grumbled. “Don’t make me lose you too, brother. You’re not old enough to die yet.” Hashirama shook off his gloom and instead graced him with a wide smile.
“I am officially sixteen today! I’m not young anymore!”
Tobirama resisted the urge to smack his face in to his own palm. “Turning sixteen does not mean you are suddenly an adult. Now quit squirming and let me clean your wound.”
Hashirama obediently removed his shirt to provide access to his arm. The skin had been flayed open by the cruelly spiked tips of a cat-o-nine-tails. Tobirama had never seen one of them used in battle before and he wished he could have watched that person training with it. It seemed like it would be an incredibly difficult thing to use during a fight and he would have loved a chance to study the mechanics of it.
All thought about possible weapons and the difficulties of their use flew out of his head, however, when the rag he was using to wipe away the blood uncovered a different color then should have been found there. His frown deepened when the dark, almost blackish red came away to reveal a lighter red underneath, entwined with a brown even deeper than Hashirama’s natural skin tone. Hashirama asked what was wrong but he shushed the older boy, wetting his rag with the canteen at his hip and cleaning the arm more thoroughly.
What he found was a tattoo-like mark that had not existed that morning. Lines of brown and red twisted around each other to form the shape of a stylized leaf. He blinked in wonderment, tracing it with his fingertip.
“Brother look,” he said quietly. Hashirama lifted his arm to see what the fuss was about. Then his jaw dropped.
“My soul mark! I got my soul mark!” He traced the tattoo as well, reverence in his eyes and a grin on his lips. “Amazing. It’s so beautiful!”
Tobirama was inclined to agree. He had seen some rather boring soul marks and some needlessly complicated ones as well. The one on his brother’s arm was beautiful in its simplicity while still remaining interesting and it was honestly the nicest he had ever seen. He could only hope his own would be as pleasant when he finally turned sixteen as well.
Hashirama insisted that he bind the wound without covering the fresh mark, obviously wanting to look at it some more. Tobirama did his best and soon enough the flayed skin was safely hidden under several layers of bandages, soul mark proudly displayed just above the white cloth. He helped his brother to his feet and the two of them rejoined the rest of the clansmen, assisting with the other wounded and checking the bodies of the fallen to ensure their enemies were truly dead.
Tobirama honestly didn’t give much thought to his brother’s soul mark after that, rarely thought of it except on the rare occasion when he wore sleeves short enough for the brand to peek out. It certainly wasn’t on his mind when he woke three years later on his own birthday, disoriented and unsure how many days he had lain unconscious. He was instead thinking of the scolding he would get for allowing his enemies to get so far inside his defenses, no matter that he had been outnumbered and still managed to successfully assassinate the target. His father would scold him anyway.
Through the haze of chakra exhaustion, Tobirama didn’t even think to check himself for a mark until well in to the evening. Not until he had built a fire and collapsed next to it in the far recesses of a cave he had used for shelter many times before. With a good sleep tonight he would be rested enough to make it home by late the next day.
When it occurred to him that today was his birthday, unless he had slept through the date entirely, he sat up as swiftly as his tired body would allow. He began pulling at his shirt and twisting around, trying to spot anything new on his skin. His torso turned up nothing so he reached for his trousers instead, thinking it might have appeared on his legs or hips. His fingers fumbled at the button because of the gloves he was wearing and he pulled them off with an irritated noise – then froze. His left palm was decorated by twisting lines of brown and red. He shook his head, unsure if the exhaustion was causing him to see strange things. When he opened his eyes again, however, it was still there. A stylized leaf that exactly matched the one he had years ago discovered on Hashirama’s arm.
He stared at his palm for a very long time. His thoughts leapt and jumbled, tumbling over each other until even he couldn’t tell what he felt about this. He lifted his opposite hand and traced the mark in the same way he had once traced Hashirama’s, wondering how he would react knowing that the one his soul mark had bound him to was his own brother.
Ice made its way down his spine as he considered that. Hashirama could have any number of reactions. Tobirama could care less what anyone else thought but Hashirama – his brother’s opinion had always been the only one that mattered to him. His brother had always been the only person he ever truly connected with. And he had watched the older boy, now a young man, as he searched diligently for his soulmate these last three years. Would it break his heart to know just who was waiting for him? As exhaustion finally crept up upon him, tugging him down in to the darkness of sleep, Tobirama silently vowed to keep this a secret. He couldn’t lose Hashirama. He would rather hurt him than break him.
Keeping his secret, however, turned out to be harder than he anticipated. He had thought he would just wear gloves whenever he was not alone. That had been questioned immediately by both surviving members of his family as well as his cousin Touka. Hashirama had thought he was hiding an injury and nearly tore both of his gloves off. It also quickly became obvious how difficult it was to complete his more delicate experiments when his fingers were covered in leather or cloth. He solved the second problem by switching to fingerless gloves. The first he did his best to ignore. He left their questions unanswered until eventually they were forced to just accept that he had decided to pick up the habit of wearing gloves.
Not that it was forgotten about by any means. Hashirama in particular liked to spring a question or two on him at random, hoping he would slip up and reveal the reason behind his new fashion choices. Tobirama simply couldn’t bear to tell him.
In the years that followed Tobirama stayed as close to Hashirama as he dared. He took up his position guarding his brother’s back both in battle and in life and asked for no more than that. He stood silent as he watched the older man smile his way through life, becoming clan leader and seeking to make peace with the Uchiha. He knew very well that Hashirama was convinced that Madara must be his soulmate and he taught himself not to flinch whenever the subject was raised.
The day his secret finally came to light was no special day at all. There was no special occasion or dramatic reveal. He wasn’t even awake to see what Hashirama’s first reaction was.
He had fallen asleep after working for too many hours in a row, determined to make the Kage Bunshin jutsu work. It was nearly completed but the clones simply weren’t hardy enough for his liking. After working late in to the night he had fallen asleep at the desk in his lab. When he woke a few hours later he opened his bleary eyes to see the walls of his bedroom around him. That was nothing new. Hashirama had carried him to bed after he’d fallen asleep many times before.
What was new was the soft sensation of something tracing across the palm of his left hand. Groggy and still half-asleep, he lifted his head to see Hashirama sitting next to him, his hair haloed in sunlight. The older man was looking down at his lap where one of his hands was cradling Tobirama’s left, the other tracing shapes in his palm. As his exhausted brain slowly came back in to focus he realized what was wrong with that picture.
His gloves were gone. His palm was bare.
Hashirama must have noticed him waking up because he clamped his fingers around Tobirama’s wrist in a vice-like grip only half a moment before he tried to pull it away. He gave some thought to trying to fight to get it back but thought better of it. So instead he lay still and waited with lead in his chest, breathing shallowly to stem the rising tide of panic.
“You started wearing gloves just after your sixteenth birthday,” Hashirama said, his voice subdued. “I remember that I thought you had been hurt and you were trying to hide it. And then afterwards I thought maybe you were hiding the scars.” Tobirama could feel the way his hand was trembling in the older man’s hold. His body wanted to tremble too. “I wasn’t thinking about that last night. I just wanted you to sleep comfortably. So I took off your armor and your gloves and…and there it was.”
“Hashirama…”
“You hid this from me.” He flinched as brown eyes turned to look at him accusingly. “Why?”
He swallowed hard, trying to force his voice to work. “I was afraid,” he admitted. Hashirama’s eyes widened.
“You? Of what?”
“I can’t lose you,” Tobirama said, his voice a quiet whisper. His brother looked as if he’d just seen a ghost and it had slapped him in the face.
“You thought…” Hashirama looked down at the hand in his lap. “You were afraid of what I would think. I understand that. Still, it’s been five years Tobirama. How could you just stand by and let me search for my soulmate? How could you stay silent when you’ve known about this the whole time?”
“I can’t lose you.” He didn’t know how else to put his fears in to words.
Because Hashirama was looking at it from the wrong perspective. He was asking the wrong questions. How could Tobirama have taken a chance on losing what was most important to him? How could he have said something when it might have ended with him being asked to leave? How could he chance seeing disgust in the eyes of the one he loved above all others?
When he said nothing more, Hashirama looked back to him. As their eyes met the older man seemed to read his fears in his expression. His face softened and he finally let go of Tobirama’s hand, leaning over to instead use his own to cup the side of his brother’s face.
“You could never lose me,” Hashirama said. “You are more precious to me than the whole world.”
“You’re not upset? We’re brothers. People will…talk.”
Hashirama gave a soft snort. “Have I ever cared for what people think?”
“I suppose not,” Tobirama allowed. Slowly, hesitantly, he let himself smile. The weight in his chest lifted and he felt almost as if he were breathing for the first time in years. The tension he had stopped paying attention to a long time ago seeped its way out of him until he was left feeling almost boneless with relief.
The suddenly weightlessness combined with the lack of sleep had his head swimming. He sank even farther in to the mattress that he was still sprawled out upon and closed his eyes. Above him he heard Hashirama chuckle a bit. Weight shifting on the bed before a soft kiss was pressed to the center of his forehead. He cracked one eye back open to watch Hashirama lay down beside him.
“Neither of us slept much,” the older man said. “I suppose you don’t mind if I just rest here with you?”
Tobirama shook his head, trying not to let his smile grow. And when a strong arm pulled him closer to rest his head on the older man’s chest, he didn’t mind that either.
