Does SH know what a map is? 🗺️ or He just found out, and now he’s warning.
This interview was prepared by @harveymaps, a mapping company in Scotland to discuss his book Waypoints and supposedly how to use a map along the West Highland Way 🗺️ It's unclear if SH used Harvey’s paper map, the picture in his book looks different. But, his Field Notes Memo Book 📖 (pocket notebook) is impeccable after 5 days hiking around the WHW, even in the rain🤷‍♂️
Not come here with his perfectly reinvent polished appearance after months to have completed the trip along the West Highlands Way with Radarbook’s perception. He has been tireless in promoting his new Waypoints’ image 📕 which does not reflect the reality of his hiking.

All outdoor adventurers recognise that finding a map for the trip is key, and the paper map is proof of the experience. Using a waterproof paper map is the best approach to familiarise yourself with your surroundings. Instead of looking down and relying on his mobile phone for directions, it forced him to look up and note places and landmarks along the route.
Perhaps he 🤔 can't read a map 🗺️ crucial for outdoor activities, whether it's exploring the hills or going to the countryside. If I recall correctly, he hadn't planned his big adventure, so he was ready to abandon the idea at the start of the WHW, and he stopped at The Drovers Inn to think about his next step, continue or go home under his Duvet. This part is not mentioned and it’s completely forgotten.

In the Internet age, there are tons of designed symbols, so we must be careful to understand the references and explanations of the indications. The maps give us the direction and orientation of the trip. Many times on the trail or at the trailhead, we want to orient ourselves with the map. This means we rotate the map to match our direction or our objective of vision.
He did not mention how manage to keep his phone battery topped up to enable him to take photos for the five days whilst he was in the West Highlands Way. It’s not just some sort of battery backup that allows for multiple recharges along his route.

But at least he would prefer not to reach the top of Everest. His dream is the Base Camp ⛺️ he is not a climber ️ 🧗 or a mountaineer. If it's enough to look at it, he can always rewatch the film Everest (2015)
The next time you hiking, collect your mobile phone but also packs your map. You will allow being present and connect much more with the history of the trail. Furthermore, we all need some time to unplug. Why not do that when he travels? Do yourself a favour and hang up the phone, and don't make excuses why you need to have your phone with you.

Harvey Maps Superwalker : Mourne Mountains
A review of the Mourne Mountains map from Harvey Maps Superwalker series.
The moment you open up this map you know it’s designed for Mourne walkers. 1:25000 scale, printed one side only, in landscape mode, with the principal fold made vertical. Open one way and you are looking at the Eastern Mourne, open the other and you are looking at the West. Most popular walks fall between a couple of folds.
