Only a Mortal
Harvey Kinkle x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1885 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Reader is Nick Scratch’s witch ex. She goes out with Harvey Kinkle, but what kind of problems could that bring up for the territorial warlock she left behind?
———————————————————————————————————
If you thought that Sabrina was shocked to see you and Harvey together at Dr. Cerberus's, it would have nearly killed you to know how rattled it had made Nicholas.
For Sabrina, it was jealousy and shock, and perhaps the same could be said for the warlock. However, what confused him more than anything was the fact that you, a witch, were openly with a mortal.
You were supposed to be at the academy tonight for bed check and by the looks of how deep in conversation you'd been with the mortal, that wasn't going to happen.
...But he wasn't jealous.
You and Nick had broken up quite a while ago and it was none of his business who you chose to hang out with, even if it did happen to be some human boy. He had no reason to be jealous. He'd had you before, and if he wanted you, there was no doubt in his mind that he could have you again.
Now, on your end, you had absolutely no idea that Nicholas was watching you. You had been so enthralled in conversation with Harvey all night that you didn't even notice the world outside.
It had never happened to you before, but for once in your life, you wanted nothing more than to spend all evening talking to him.
There was nothing else on your mind, nothing else other than the young mortal, Harvey Kinkle.
He was a strange man, with many different ideas about how the world should work and stories from his life. It was so funny to see how the other half lived, so to speak. You hadn't spent much time with the mortals in your life, but you and Harvey had crossed paths and one thing led to another, as they often did.
By this point in the evening, you had been sitting here for hours, sharing a milkshake and talking about life...
And you continued talking through the night until you got on the conversation of Valentines day, and how fast it was approaching.
Admittedly, it took you a moment to realize what he was talking about but you knew that valentine's day was like lupercalia for the mortals. It was a lot less fun, with more cards and confetti, over rituals and sex.
Still, it seemed to mean something to Harvey as he spoke about it.
"There is a dance at my school, and I was wondering if you would go with me?" he asked, shocking you. There was a bit of sparkle in his eyes as he watched you, waiting for some kind of response.
You weren't really sure what to do.
There was no good way to react in a situation like that. Harvey looked to be expecting something from you and you weren't sure at all what it was he wanted.
However, you had to answer him at some point.
"Oh Harvey, a dance? Are you sure?" you asked, fully understanding that you were in no way the school dance kind. You didn't want to give him any kind of false hope about what kind of person you were.
After everything that had happened with him and Sabrina in their past, you didn't want him to expect something of you that you couldn't deliver but you also didn't want to frighten him.
His relationship with Sabrina had left him a little sensitive to magic as a general rule, and the main thing you'd learned from being with Nick was that magic was something you couldn't live without.
At the academy, you learned everything you'd ever wanted to know on the path of dark.
It showed you things that you needed, and gave you the things that you wanted but you knew that if you even mentioned magic around Harvey, he would freak out. Not to mention that going to a valentine's dance with him would probably result in him accompanying you to lupercalia which probably wouldn't be his scene.
He would be completely surrounded by witches and warlocks.
"I'm positive Y/N, don't you think it would be a good time?" he asked, worried that he'd somehow upset you by suggesting it.
He must have misread the whole situation.
"I think it would be a great time, but there is just too much that could go wrong. You know what I am" you reasoned, keeping your tone as quiet as possible in hopes that would somehow calm him.
You didn't want him to leave, but you just had a feeling that this wouldn't work out.
"I don't care. I like spending time with you and I think it would be nice"
He seemed pretty sure but you just didn't understand. How could he be so confident in such a thing even with a past like his? It simply didn't make any sense.
...But even you had to admit that you didn’t want to say no to his tempting offer, especially not after all the fun you’d had with him tonight.
Perhaps the mortal Harvey Kinkle was worth the risk.
“I agree, I have to go now Harvey, but I’ll let you know what I decide” you promised, gathering your things and heading out before you could get any more attached to the darling mortal.
There was something so dangerous about what you were doing, and it wasn’t right.
Witches didn’t mingle with mortals, and mortals didn’t mingle with witches. It was the only way. It had always been that way, and as you walked up the stairs to the academy, you made your decision...
You couldn’t go to that dance with Harvey.
There was no way you could put him in danger like that, ever. It was far too upsetting to imagine something bad happening to him.
Not to mention what Nicholas would do if you ever dared show up at the academy of unseen arts with him on your arm. He had always been such a jealous creature.
After the two of you had separated, he had been so angry but it was only because he loved you so. Nick had always loved you more than words could express but that was one of the problems you had, he couldn’t express his feelings at all.
That was just one of the things the mortal lacked.
Harvey spoke so earnestly about his emotions and didn’t shy away from them in fear of looking weak. He spoke freely and made you feel free to do the same in a way you never had before.
As you walked quickly away from Dr. Cerberus's, you couldn’t stop yourself from thinking about him, and the amazing time you’d just shared. Not once did magic come up, or did he make you feel ignored.
For the entire time you were sitting across from Harvey, you knew that his attention was only on you and you liked that.
You really liked that.
You liked it so much in fact, that by the time you’d made it back to the academy, you had completely changed your mind. The risk of being with Harvey for one night was worth the joy it would bring you.
Besides, you could keep track of him the entire time and you knew that he would be protected. Nothing would ever happen to Harvey as long as he was by your side.
Bathed in the darkness of the night, you decided to indulge yourself on this valentines day, which would be your very first. Not only that, but you were going to ask Harvey to accompany you on lupercalia, just for the heaven of it.
Nothing worth having was ever easy anyway.
~
It wasn’t until the night of the valentines dance finally came that you debated whether or not you should even show up.
You didn't want to make a fool of yourself, not in front of a bunch of mortals. Not to mention that lupercalia was right around the corner and you knew that Sabrina and Nicholas would be there. You didn't want to have to see them both, not right now.
It would just be too hard to explain.
There were also rules for those sorts of things, no mortal was permitted on the hallowed ground of the academy. If you wanted to take part in lupercalia at all with Harvey, it would have to be somewhere other than school.
It was just too complicated.
...But before you could panic too much, you simply looked in the mirror and reminded yourself what you were. You were a witch, a very powerful witch under the protection of the dark lord himself, and there was nothing in the cosmos that could scare you.
Especially not a warlock like Nicholas.
Whatever you’d had with him was long gone and you weren’t going to let his opinions of you change anything between you and Harvey. The mortal brought you happiness and you weren’t going to sacrifice that…
Not this time.
You had asked Harvey to meet you at the school, explaining that it would be much simpler that way until you could figure out everything at the academy. Right now, the two of you were just enjoying each other’s company so there was no reason to complicate things.
You didn’t want to risk someone at the academy seeing you two together and having a problem with it. At least, not until you were much more secure in whatever you and Harvey had.
Luckily, he had understood and by the time you made it to Baxter high, your darling mortal was already waiting for you, a button up shirt under a flannel in true Kinkle fashion.
“You look incredible” he gushed, shocked that you had even really shown up. He was glad you had, of course, but in the time it took you to arrive, he’d been rather anxious.
All you did was smile at first, looking down to admire the work you’d done in your wardrobe earlier.
Fashion in the witches world was different than that of the mortal world, but it was clear that Harvey didn’t care. All he knew was that you looked really good and he was excited for the night to come.
You made everything so easy, respecting his touchy past with your kind and letting him process things at his own speed. You respected what he needed while still avoiding looking at him like he’s wounded.
He wouldn’t trade that for the world.
“Thank you, so do you” you tried, doing your best to keep him from knowing how uncomfortable you were. When it came to the supernatural world and the coven, there was no one more confident than you.
...But this was a public high school.
You had never attended one of these, and in all honesty, you never thought you would even step foot in one before today.
Harvey may not have known you for that long, but even he could tell that you were much more tense and anxious than you had been before. Without a word, he slipped his hand into your own.
The touch shocked your flesh but only served to make you feel more alive than before. He was incredible, in everything that he was, if anyone could give you the strength to enjoy tonight...
It was Harvey.
Now all you had to do was go in.

A Little More than a Crush
Harvey Kinkle x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1765 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Reader wants to go to the Carnival with her best guy, the only guy in the world that she loves.
——————————————————————————————————
The carnival was in town and you couldn’t have been more excited about it.
Carnivals weren’t very common in Greendale but the fact that one had sprung up was more than welcome. It was a distraction and at this point, with hell and monsters and all of that-you wouldn’t say no to that.
You wanted nothing more than a good, old fashioned, night on the town. In fact, it was something that you would kill for at this point.
You were desperate.
“Please come with me, Harv” you begged, clasping your hands together dramatically. All of your friends were going but more than anything, you wanted his company.
You were trying to ask Harvey on a date, but he hadn’t really connected the dots yet. That much was obvious, because all he did was smile.
“We’re all going as a group silly, of course I’ll be there” he hummed, bumping your chin with his finger in a playful manner.
The gesture was sweet and soft but something about it also broke your heart. No matter what you did, you doubted that Harvey would ever really understand the feelings you had for him.
It just wasn’t in the cards.
Perhaps you should have been glad for it, after all-you knew that you would be crushed if he rejected you. It would break your heart but there was nothing you could do about it.
Not if he didn’t like you, if he didn’t love you.
Still, you should have considered yourself lucky to even get to spend time with him at all. You got to hang out with him, even if it wasn’t under the circumstances that you hoped for.
“Right, you’re right” you shrugged, feeling the heat rush to your face. You had to get out of here...before you made a fool out of yourself.
It was bad enough that you’d fallen in love with your childhood best friend, but now you were pining after him like a lovesick puppy. You couldn’t handle it, you felt like you were standing on pins and needles when you were with him.
The only problem was that you couldn’t make him understand that without risking looking like an ass.
“I’ll see you later then Harv” you hummed, practically running away from him toward where your car was parked. If you were lucky, he wouldn’t ask any questions about your odd behavior.
Sometimes he could be pretty spacey, and you only hoped this was one of those times.
You heard him call after you, letting you know that he was looking forward to it. You wanted to tell yourself that you didn’t feel it, that it didn’t matter, but you couldn’t ignore the pit in your stomach when he did.
It was bad.
This was a love like you’d never felt, and it just so happened to be for the only person in the world you couldn’t lie to. It was only a matter of time before he figured out why you were acting like a coked out squirrel around him.
He wasn’t an idiot, as much as you wished he was right about now.
You had to figure out some way to chill out before the carnival tonight...and luckily, you knew just the witch to help you out with that.
“Sabrina, I need help” you called, rushing into the Spellman mortuary without so much as a knock. You two had started out as relative strangers but over all this time, you had grown to really like her.
Things like that changed when she and Harvey broke up and you actually got to know her without being attached to his hip.
She had even saved your life a few times.
…But right now, you just needed her witchy powers to keep you chill for the night.
“What’s wrong?” she wondered, appearing at the top of the staircase after a few seconds. At first, she assumed that maybe something bad had happened or one of your friends was in danger but you were quick to put those concerns to rest.
You smiled, doing your best to act like a person who wasn’t about to lose her mind. “Is there a spell or something to make me completely chill? Like, less anxious and weird than right now?” you rambled, gesturing furiously down at yourself as if that would help.
You were losing your mind, and even if using magic was a bad idea, you had to try.
You weren’t ready to lose Harvey over some stupid crush.
“What’s going on? Are you okay?” she grinned, trying her best not to laugh at you. You had come here immediately after seeing Harvey and your heart rate hadn’t even slowed yet.
You could have at least sat in the driveway for a few moments.
“I’m fine, I just need help” you assured, pressing both of your hands to your temples. Sabrina smiled again, making her way down the stairs toward you before wrapping you in a hug.
This wasn’t the first time you’d gotten yourself all worked up but Sabrina had never quite seen it like this. “It’s okay, I’m sure I’ll find something...let me look and I’ll bring something to the carnival for you” she suggested, knowing it would take a few hours for Ambrose to help her find something.
There had to be a spell for it.
“Anything else I should know?” she prompted, there had to be something else.
You never acted like this for no reason.
“I have a crush, and I’m trying to keep it a secret” you shrugged, thanking her again and then heading out before she could showering you with more questions than you were ready to answer.
Harvey was just a topic you weren’t going to discuss with her.
It wouldn’t do any good and you didn’t want to make things between you any more awkward than they were after your odd little ask. Besides, you didn’t want anyone other than you to know about your feelings for Harvey.
You were doing a bad enough job keeping it a secret yourself.
You could only imagine how bad it would get if other people knew too. You would give it a few hours from when Sabrina found out before she told Roz and Theo and once they knew, it was all over.
That just couldn’t happen.
You were satisfied enough with the fact that she could bring you something to take him off your mind for now. At least you could get ready in peace without having to think about-
Harvey.
There was a knock at your bedroom door, a signature knock that you’d created with him in middle school that told you that Harvey had let himself into your house.
You should have assumed that he would be here at some point but you didn’t expect him so soon.
“Can I come in?” he called, knowing that you were in there, especially because he could hear the slight sound of your radio on the other side of the door.
You hummed, loud enough for him to hear you, you weren’t completely confident in your tongues ability to form words. You had no idea what was going on with you today but you just couldn’t focus.
Harvey was just imprinted on your brain, more than ever before.
“That’s cute, new sweater?” he asked casually, sitting on your bed right behind where you were currently standing, at your vanity. You were trying to get your makeup finished but you could hardly focus now.
Something was wrong with you, and you didn’t feel right. Harvey had never made you feel this way before but you could practically feel your heart beating in your chest.
“Yeah, it’s new” you allowed, swallowing the panic you were feeling before turning around toward him. You felt like you were submitting the look you’d crafted for his approval but Harvey only smiled at you.
A smile that made your stomach flip.
“It’s perfect, you ready to go?” he asked, standing from his spot and offering a hand to you which you took after a second or two of trying to not swallow your tongue.
You nodded, following him out to his truck without so much as a thought. The second you touched Harvey, you felt like your brain was nothing but static and you couldn’t think straight.
~
Sabrina knew that something was wrong as soon as you left her house, but it wasn’t until she consulted Ambrose that she realized what it was. At some point, you had been subjected to something magical, she just wasn’t sure what it was yet.
You were under a spell.
The one clue that she had was that you said something about a crush, something she’d never known you to do before today. That led the two Spellman’s down a path, until they figured it out.
Sabrina rushed to the carnival as quickly as she could, Nick on her heels. She had to find you before something terrible happened. They didn’t know how’d put the spell on you which meant that they weren’t sure what it would do.
Something horrible could happen if they didn’t figure it out soon.
“Y/N, there you are” she started, just glad that she found you before something absolutely awful could happen. “I think that someone put a spell on you” she whispered, pulling you in a hug to make it less obvious.
You weren’t sure what she meant but perhaps that was why you were feeling this way lately.
“It must be a love spell right, that’s why I’ve been feeling this way about Harvey?” you reasoned, realizing out of the blue that that was the only explanation. You had been able to keep it under wraps forever but today changed everything.
It wasn’t until you’d already said it that you realized you practically announced it to the entire group, including Harvey.
...But that wasn’t even the most awkward part.
“Actually no, it’s a truth spell” she allowed, the words leaking into the air through tight lips. She knew that it was going to make everything super awkward now, considering you’d just been really open about your feelings.
However, it was better that you knew that truth.

Hunting
Harvey Kinkle x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 1,697 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Reader is a witch hunter who wants to teach Harvey about where he comes from, and what his family used to be.
———————————————————————————————————
Sabrina had done all the hard work for you when she told Harvey what she was, and what she'd done with his dead brother. Her bad choices hadn't left her with any other options, but from your position, it could only be a positive.
He was a descendant of a strong line of witch hunters and ignoring that part of himself wasn't acceptable.
It was his blood right to be a hunter, to at least learn what he was. At some point, someone was going to have to tell him the truth and in this moment, that someone was going to be you.
You knew where he was coming from and you understood.
You were one with him, one of his kind and it was only natural that the two of you be together.
There was nothing natural about the coupling of a witch and a hunter. It was unnatural and unacceptable as far as you were concerned. Your kind and theirs were natural enemies.
It was the only way.
The gunshot could be heard all over Greendale.
To everyone else, it was probably easy to ignore, simply background noise to their alright quite noisy existences. But to you, it was something else entirely. That gunshot to you, signified the start of something new.
You were going to turn Harvey Kinkle into a regular witch hunter before the week was out...guaranteed.
~
"Can I talk to you for a second?" you asked, brushing your hand lightly along his back as you passed behind his locker. The two of you had never spoken before today but that was only circumstance.
Soon enough, you two would have more to talk about than there was time for in the day.
However, you were going to need to get to know him a little better first.
He looked confused at your appearance at his side, considering he'd never met you before. That being said, he didn't feel the need to question it. Whatever it was that you needed to say, he was all ears.
After everything he'd learned recently about the world around him, there was nothing you could say that would shock him.
"You're a Kinkle right? Harvey?" You checked, already knowing that you were talking to the right guy. You needed a way to break the ice and start the conversation, and that would be the perfect way.
He nodded, still unsure of what you were getting at. It didn't make any sense to him.
However, there was something about you that drew him in, no matter how much he didn’t really want it. Somehow, he felt like he’d known you all his life.
“My name is Y/N Y/L/N, our families go way back” You grinned, watching a wave of recognition wash over his face. He had never personally met another Y/L/N but his grandfather talked about them all the time.
Apparently, they had been his closest hunting companions back in the day. Of course, it wasn’t until recently that he learned what kind of hunting.
Harvey wondered momentarily if you knew what your family did in their spare time? Was it possible that you knew their secret as well?
He couldn’t be sure.
“Yeah, granddad talks about your family all the time...they used to hunt together” he said, placing special emphasis on the word as if to try and convey some kind of secret message.
It nearly made you laugh as you looked at his face. He had so much to learn about who he was. He was a Kinkle after all, he should have been proud to come from such a strong bloodline.
“I know, we come from some very skilled hunters” you nodded, sending a wink his way to let him know that you, in fact, knew.
That was quite interesting.
At the very least, you could be sure that Harvey knew that he came from a hunter’s family line but more difficult would be connecting the dots to right now.
Hunters were a bit of a dying breed but for the families that still practiced your traditions, it was very important to keep it going.
“Harvey, I would like to take you hunting, if you’d allow me too. Animals of course, I wouldn’t want to make you uncomfortable” you assured, knowing that with his history with witches, it would take quite some time to get him to work up to something like that.
You were no monster.
You wanted Harvey to know that you had his best interest at heart and that he could trust you because you two were of the same kind.
The hunting life was one that he should be proud of, abundantly proud of for all his life.
Though at first you could see that he wasn’t sure.
Harvey had only attempted hunting for the first time recently with his own family and that had went terribly.
He just had no idea if it was a good idea to try to do it again with a virtual stranger.
However, there was something about you that drew him in. You were the only connection he had to the part of himself that he’d never known.
At the very least, he wanted to see what you could teach him.
What could it hurt?
~
The two of you agreed to meet out by the mines at first before heading into the dense woods.
There wasn’t very much interference from people out here and it was nothing but trees for as far as the eye could see.
You had always found peace surrounded by woods. It reminded you just how small you all were and made you feel weightless, as if you were floating through the air, moving in unison with the leaves on the trees.
Every sense that you had was heightened, and every movement had intention behind it.
It was perfect, and you were so happy to be able to share a moment like that with Harvey.
The leaves crunched beneath your feet as you walked through over fallen branches and acorns. Behind you, you could also catch Harvey’s more tentative steps.
“There, do you see that?” you whispered, turning back to look at him. You’d been tracking a buck through the woods this entire time, and it was all coming together now.
Laying in the clearing with a single buck, his ears relaxed and his breathing steady. He had no idea that you were even there, which was perfect.
The brunette nodded, holding the shotgun tightly to his frame as he tried to decipher what your next move would be.
He had never been in this situation before, and he wasn't sure if he'd be able to go through with it. However, he didn't want to disappoint you. It was clear that you cared a lot about all this stuff, and he wanted to know as much about it as possible.
After all, it was in his blood.
It should have been easy. All he had to do was pull the trigger, and you would take care of everything else.
When he looked over at you for some guidance, you had your rifle at your side, the barrel in the dirt. You were waiting for him, this was some kind of test. Harvey took a deep breathe, trying to steady his heart as he raised the barrel up toward the animal.
All he had to do was pull the trigger, but he couldn't.
He didn't want to kill an animal if he didn't have to. It just wasn't something he ever thought he would have to do.
"Steady Kinkle, you have a clear shot" you encouraged, already knowing well enough that he wasn't going to take it. You knew from the moment you met him, but you weren't upset.
Harvey had a trait that most other witch hunters didn't, he cared. He cared about the well being of other living things, and he wouldn't even hurt a fly if he could help it. It was strange to you but in some way, you admired it.
You had never stopped to think before pulling the trigger. Perhaps you were distant from it, too distant. All you did was shoot and watch something die a few feet away, all without blinking an eye...
But maybe you didn't have to be that way.
"I'm sorry, I can't do it" he huffed, after a few seconds. He had just been watching the deer through the scope of his gun and he'd made his decision. There was no way that he was going to kill it.
He just couldn't.
It wasn't as if he was doing this out of necessity. He didn't have to kill it to survive or for food or anything like that. There was absolutely no reason he could think of other than impressing you, and if this was what it took, it wasn't worth it.
However, you weren't angry like he thought you would be. Instead, you had a smile on your face...which he just didn't understand.
"I know, I'm glad" you hummed, taking his gun and laying it on the ground with your own.
Once they were safely out of the way, you threw your arms around his neck, giving him the biggest hug in the world.
He had been given a choice that you never were, and you were so happy with his choice. No one had ever asked you if you wanted to hunt and kill witches. It was never a matter of what you wanted, but Harvey did get to choose.
...And he'd made the right one.
"I'm lost, I thought you wanted me to hunt with you?" he wondered, shocked that you were now changing your tune. He thought for sure that you would be angry with him like his father was when he couldn't do it.
But you were still smiling.
"I did, but I would never make you...it's not who you are" you hummed, finally stepping away from him once it donned on you that you face was still a few inches from his own.
Harvey had a better way and maybe, in time, he could teach you.
