las vegas airport
ok being real this is why i made this blog.
i HATE the los vegas airport. specifically this is the worst when it comes for disabled people. not enrolled in the sunflower program. constantly having music playing, and sometimes people just smoke while playing the slot machines IN THE AIRPORT
can i mention that? their are slot machines IN THE AIRPORTâŚ. they are next to the terminals so they are blasting their squid game slot machine in earshot of the seating of seating. look, i understand its vegas, but cant you have a separate room for that? if you really wanted it just make a mini casino attached instead of next to everything.
i understand, you might feel differently than me since i do hate that gambling is normalized here to the point in this sensory hell unwalkable town. that if you ever wanted to go to this place just as a layover, you gotta see at least 300 slot machines blasting squid game, bull themed, or wednesday addams machines.
the only saving grace for this place of hell on earth is that they have good food and the places to sit all have chargers for the most part. they also have some walking escalators for the longer stretches which does save this airport from the pits of the mariana trench, elevating it to the japan trench, maybe the seafloor if you are kind.
planners i hope you are proud of what you done, made your airport just as vile as the city itself for disabled people.

I hope that she doesn't become a gambling addict. I had seen these machines inside the Las Vegas Airport last time I was in Vegas over ten years ago and thought it would be cool to gamble a bit before boarding a flight. So here we are at the now Harry Reid (formerly McCarran) International Airport about to board a flight to Ontario California. We only lost nineteen dollars so it wasn't that big of a deal.

23 with no romantic prospects probably shouldâve made you feel worse about yourself than it actually did. Yes, you occasionally wondered what it would be like to have someone to love and cherish, but you knew it wasnât exactly realistic. You were extremely busy, like, all the time. Being Jack Wolffâs live-in nanny was quite the chore, despite him being only one child. Donât get me wrong, he was well-behaved and sweet, but he still had a packed schedule of going to F1 races every now and then. When he wasnât spending his weekends in the Mercedes garage, he was busy spending them in his own garage. Jack was in the beginning stages of his karting career, and he was damn good at it too. He loved the rush of trying to go as fast as he possibly could through every corner, every chicane, every straight. When he took his helmet off after a race and ran straight to you, it was one of the best feelings in the world. You loved Jack like a little brother, he adored you like a second mother.Â
â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
âWhy did we have to get up so early?â he yawned as you walked through the Harry Reid airport, just after landing in Las Vegas. Due to the fact that Jack was two public figuresâ son, you two always got the craziest flight times to avoid crowds.Â
You smiled, picking him up and placing him on his suitcase so he could sit while you pushed him. âBecause your mom and dad missed you,â you explain. âAnd they want to see you as soon as possible.â
âI couldâve waited a little longer,â he mumbled.Â
âDas ist nicht nett,â (that is not nice) you chuckled. âThey miss you, and you havenât exactly been very good at texting them back.âÂ
âBut we couldâve had a race this weekend,â he whined.Â
âWe do, youâre just not racing in it,â you smirked as he rolled his eyes. All 7 year olds really were sassy.Â
âDo you want me to ask your dad if we can go to a track for a little bit of the weekend?â you offered after watching his sad face.
The frown on his lips instantly turned into a smile. âYes please! Youâre the best!âÂ
The kid knew how to play you, youâd give him that.Â
â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
It was 7am when you finally got checked into the hotel, and it was finally time for Jack to go see his parents. As much as he pretended he didnât, most nights than not he would sneak into your bed and ask you to call one of them, so much so that youâd just made a time where you called each of them so he could talk. He had been getting better at the whole âlong distant parentingâ but it still hurt him sometimes. Sometimes, he just wanted his dad, but his dad was 3,500km away at a race where their car was a piece of shit.Â
You knocked on the door of their hotel room and it immediately opened to reveal a very excited Susie. âJack!â she cheered, picking him up in his arms and hugging him tight as he giggled. Toto wrapped his arms around the both of them as they all reunited.Â
You 4 have breakfast together where you popped the question about going to a kart track at some point over the weekend and they begrudgingly agreed, upset that theyâd miss out on precious âJack timeâ, but understanding of his want for more track time all the same. You had agreed to join them in the garage for the morning though, since seeing everyone again was nice.Â
â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
âGod, Iâve created a monster,â Toto joked as you both sat and watched Susie showing Jack around the garage.Â
You chuckled. Jack was obsessed with anything to do with cars. He loved his kart more than anything, and h e couldnât wait to move up into single seaters. He also had a mechanical engineer as a nanny, which probably didnât help all that much. âWeâve created a monster. Iâm the one teaching him about tire temp and degradation,â you chuckled as Toto just put his head in his hands jokingly.
âHow are you?â he turned to you. âAny news?â
âNothing new, just Jackâs news, I guess,â you shrugged. To be honest, you loved your life. You loved nannying Jack, you loved living in Monaco, you loved being at a kart track every single weekend, but you knew that wasnât the typical experience of every young adult.Â
Toto squinted his eyes. âHow are your friends?âÂ
âTheyâre good, we went over to London the other week to go see them, since Jack had a race there on the weekend,â you explained, knowing what Toto was trying to say. âDonât worry about me, Iâm taking care of myself just fine.âÂ
He nodded. âWe worry about you too,â he shrugged. âYouâre like another daughter to us, we want you to be happy.â
You smiled. âI am.â
âAnd any boyfriends-?â
âShut up!â you playfully hit him to stop the awkward conversation that would follow. âEnough Toto.â
âWhat?â He feigned innocence. âI canât be interested in your dating life?â
âNope,â you shook your head. âNo you canât.âÂ
âY/n!â Jack shouted as he ran over to you. âCan we go to the track now please?âÂ
You looked to Toto, who nodded, then off you went to go grab Jackâs things and get into the car. When you pulled up to the track and got him stretched and warmed up, you watched as he circled the track while Toto and Susie went over strategies for the weekend in the cafe of the place. Toto had booked it out for Jack (mostly so he or you wouldnât get papped, but also because thatâs how Jack likes tracks when heâs practising), or so you thought. About 40 minutes into you being there, half of the McLaren garage showed up in papaya, apparently ready to race.
âHey Toto,â Zak smiled. âJackâs looking fast out there.â
âHi Zak, whatâre you doing here?âÂ
âRacing,â he chuckled.Â
âWeâre supposed to have it booked out for the day,â Toto argued.Â
You came in as the two men started getting heated (which didnât take much) and pulled them away from each other as Susie went outside to keep an eye on Jack. âWhatâs the issue?â
âWe have the track booked out, and they want to race,â Toto scoffed.Â
âWe also have the track booked out,â Zak explained. âAlso hi Y/n, nice to see you.â
âNice to see you too,â you smiled at him. âSo just let Jack go until theyâre done getting ready, they do a session, Jack does a session, and so on. We need to get out of here at 3 anyway, and you and Susie are leaving earlier.âÂ
They both pondered the deal, feeling rather stupid for not being able to compromise on their own.Â
âSounds fair,â they both said at the same time, then they went back to their respective groups.Â
You went out to tell Jack, who agreed quickly, wanting to watch what the F1 drivers would do in a kart. You two watched at the sidelines as they went around the track, Jack literally taking notes beside you as you watched one kart only. Oscar Piastri.Â
Oscar and you had been friends in boarding school, and youâd always had this inkling he liked you, but he never acted on it before you left school, so nothing ever came of it. You had definitely liked him back though. He was so nice to you, so sweet, so funny. He was just⌠Oscar.Â
As Jack got back on track, Oscar came over to sit with you. âHey,â He smiled.Â
âHi,â you smiled back, scooching over so there would be more space for him. On track was Jack v Lando, and Jack was winning.Â
âHow are you?â he asked.Â
âIâm good, thanks, you?â
âGreat,â he smiled. âItâs really nice to see you again.â
âItâs really nice to see you again.â
âI thought Iâd seen you around the paddock but then I realised how strange that sounded so I just chalked it up to my imagination, which is an even weirder thing but, yeah. Itâs nice to know youâre not just a figment of my imagination,â he chuckled, awkward and shy, just how you remember him.Â
You laughed. âYeah, not a figment of your imagination, just Jackâs nanny.âÂ
âCool,â he nodded. âHeâs a good driver.â
âHeâs very good,â you agreed. âEvery weekend weâre at tracks, itâs madness.â
âWhere are you living now?â he asked.Â
âMonaco,â you explained.Â
âMe too,â he smiled. âWe should meet up sometime.â
âIâd like that,â you nodded, and you couldnât help but feel the charged air between you two.Â
âIâd like that too.â
â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
ŕ¨ŕ§â
Asking for a night off was a nightmare. Both Susie and Toto had their noses stuck into your business no matter what, so they begged and pleaded to be told why, but you somehow kept your kind-of-date-not-really-a-date under wraps until you got to the restaurant.Â
And it was nice. Oscar was just as sweet and funny as he was when you two first were friends. He even walked you back to the apartment, stopping before you went upstairs so as to not be seen by Toto or Susie.Â
âI really had fun tonight,â he smiled, the cold Monaco air making his cheek red.Â
âMe too,â you smiled. âIt was really nice to catch up.â
He stepped closer, a nervous smile on his face. âTonight was a date, right?â
âI-Iâm- I donât- IâŚâ you trailed off, looking away from him as you both chuckled.Â
âIâd like it to be,â he admitted.Â
You nodded. âMe too.â
âSo I can kiss you, right?â He smiled.Â
Your heart slightly stopped, youâd never been kissed before. How did you even do it? Would he think youâre awful? Would this end the entire relationship?
âI donât have to, Iâd just⌠Iâd like to,â he smiled understandingly. âIf youâre not ready for that then thatâs alright.â
âI just⌠Iâve never been kissed,â you admitted, deeply embarrassed.Â
His jaw dropped. âYouâve never been kissed?â He asked despite himself. âSorry, that sounded rude I-â
âItâs alright Oscar,â you shook your head. âI get what you mean.â
âNo, I mean Iâm just shocked, youâre so amazing and⌠yeah. Itâs just surprising,â he chuckled. âIâm kind of honoured that I get to be the first.â
You chuckled. âShut up.â
He chuckled. âCan I kiss you?â
You nodded, much too nervous to actually speak. He placed a hand on your cheek and leaned in, his lips softly meeting yours.Â
And it felt good. It felt really good to kiss him. His other hand circled your waist as you tentatively placed your hands on either side of his face. When he pulled back you felt your heart stop once again.Â
âYouâre sure that was your first time?â He teased and you laughed.Â
âPretty sure,â you chuckled.Â
âWhen can I see you again?â He asked, bashfully smiling. Â
âIâll be at the next race, or here,â you explained. âSo whenever it works for you.â
âWhat about-â
âOSCAR?! You picked Oscar?!â Toto shouted, making both of you jump apart. âAbsolutely not! Y/n get up here!âÂ
You sighed. âText me about the date? Yeah?â
He nodded, laughing (trying to hide his terror of Toto) as he watched you go upstairs and start trying to explain to Toto.

Las Vegas Airport Changes Name
Everyday is a school day! Now I know that this isnât recent news but it was news to me. At the end of 2021 Las Vegas Airport changed itâs name. Since itâs first commercial arrivals in 1948 the airport had been named after the Senator of Nevada Pat McCarran. As far back as 2012, stories began to emerge of McCarranâs history of perpetuating racism and antisemitism. In response to the stories, TheâŚ

[ sneaking into vegas ] j. drysdale
part one !
paring : Jamie Drysdale x fem!!reader
summary : (Y/N) flies into Vegas to surprise Jamie for his first NHL game in nearly a year
warning(s) : none
author's note : listen, this was supposed to be a little thing but it turned out to be over 2k words so ⌠i got a little carried away
ŕźşââââââââââââââââŕźť
She was supposed to be across the country in New York, but when her boyfriend told her that he was going to be playing in his first NHL game since he got hurt last year, she couldn't resist getting on a plane to go watch him.
Especially after she saw who Anaheim was going to be playing for their season opener. (Y/N) knew that she needed to be in Vegas for that game. Even if that meant leaving New York a week early.
Jamie doesn't know she's coming. As a matter of fact, she tells him that she's going to be in her temporary office catching up on some work all day so he doesn't suspect anything when she doesn't reply to him all day because she has an eight-hour travel day ahead of her.
Her flight leaves at nine in the morning and she won't be getting into Vegas until two in the afternoon pacific time. That leaves her nearly five hours to check into the hotel that the Ducks are staying in while they're in Vegas for the game, get something to eat, and head to the arena without alerting Jamie to where she is.
Should be easy since she knows that Jamie will be at morning skate from eleven until two then will take a nap and eat before he heads to the arena at five. He has things that will keep him busy so she can sneak into Vegas.
On the contrary, Trevor knows that she's coming in and has a whole plan to keep Jamie busy if he decides not to take a nap after morning skate. They've been working together for the past few days so make sure the surprise goes smoothly. He's supposed to pick her up from the airport as soon as he's done practice.
(Y/N) has never watched Jamie play a game of NHL hockey. They met after he got hurt last October and started dating in February. She's very excited to be in the arena for his first regular season game back from injury. She doesn't care if she's the only Ducks fan in the place. She'll be making sure she cheers loudly for Jamie and his teammates.
At two on the dot, the plane lanes at Harry Reid International Airport. When (Y/N) gets off the plane a few minutes later, she texts Trevor and lets him know that her flight has landed. He replies and says that he's waiting for her in his rental whenever she grabs her suitcase from baggage claim.
A few notifications come through while she's waiting for her bags. All from Jamie throughout the morning.
j ⥠- 10:04 am hope you have a good day at work. will miss you. hope you can catch the game tonight if you aren't working super late
j ⡠- 10:49 am forgot to say that i love you so ... i love you 𩷠gotta go to morning skate so talk to you later
j ⥠- 2.08 pm z ditched me if you're not busy for a short call. i don't think i'll be able to sleep before the game so call me if you have a few minutes
She looks at Trevor and asks, "Do you think he'll be suspicious if I call him really quick? I think he has some pre-game nerves and I told him I'd only work until dinnertime, which is what time it is in New York."
"I don't think so," Trevor replies. "It'll be like you're calling him on your way back from work. Just don't get all cute and everything. The two of you make me sick when you get all lovey-dovey with each other. I already hear it from Jamie every day."
(Y/N) sticks her tongue out at Trevor as she clicks 'call' on Jamie's contact. Trevor lowers the music so she can talk on the phone.
It rings three times before Jamie picks up. "Hi, baby," he breathes out when he answers the phone. "I've been needing to hear your voice."
"Hi, Jamie baby," (Y/N) replies. Jamie's nickname causes Trevor to make a face as he drives. She swats at his shoulder. "How was morning skate? You just got done a little bit ago, right?"
"Yeah," Jamie says. "It went good. I think it went well. I feel pretty good about playing tonight, minus the fact that we're playing Vegas and I got hurt playing against them last year. I'm just nervous about playing them after last year."
She frowns. "Hey, you'll be okay," she assures him. "You're going to play so well tonight. I know you will. No matter what happens tonight, I'm proud of you. I'm excited for you to get back on the ice, and I know your teammates are too. I'm pretty sure Z has missed having you on the ice with him."
"I've missed being on the ice with them, but what if I do something wrong?" Jamie questions. "What if I give up the puck and they score on the giveaway? What if I fall and land on my shoulder wrong? What if-"
"Jamie, stop," (Y/N) interrupts. "None of that is going to happen, okay? Not intentionally. You're working yourself up and you shouldn't be because this is what you're good at. You wouldn't be in the NHL if you weren't good at hockey, baby. There's a reason you're playing for Anaheim at the professional level. Do what you do best tonight. Your teammates are there to pick you up if you need them to until you get comfortable. Stop freaking yourself out."
They pull up to the hotel and Trevor parks his rental away from the main entrance so none of the Ducks players see (Y/N) and report to Jamie that his girlfriend is at the hotel. "You're right," Jamie sighs. "I'm sorry to bother you with this while you're at work."
"I'm actually on my way back to the apartment," (Y/N) tells him. "But even if I was still at work, bother me with this any time. I'll never be mad if you want me to call you because you're nervous for a game."
"I don't deserve you, (Y/N)," Jamie says. "I truly don't. I love you so much."
The comment brings a smile to her lips. "I love you more," she replies. "I'm pulling into the parking lot now so I'll talk to you later. Maybe you can get Z to bring you something to eat if you can't sleep."
Jamie laughs and says, "If I bug him enough then he'll definitely bring me food. I'll let you go though, get settled in for the night. I'll talk to you after the game."
"Call me after," she tells him. "I don't care that it'll be after one in the morning. Call me and tell me all about the game. I'll want to hear all about it and how it went."
"I will," Jamie replies. "I love you."
"I love you too."
The line goes dead after that and (Y/N) realizes that she has a small smile on her lips. He won't have to call her after the game. She'll be waiting outside the locker room when he gets done showering and getting dressed after the game.
Trevor gets out of the car and mumbles, "The two of you make me sick." She laughs and gets out of the car after him.
He grabs her suitcase from the trunk and hands it over to her when it's on the ground. With Trevor following close behind, (Y/N) walks into the hotel. She checks into the room that she'll only be in for about four hours total because Jamie is going to make sure they're together that night, and she doesn't want him to kick Trevor out of the room.
Itâs been a few weeks since theyâve seen each other so she wanted to make sure there was a room they could stay in together.
Trevor walks her to her room, which is a floor below the Ducksâ rooms. âWeâre in 504,â he tells her. He hands her the extra key to his and Jamieâs room while she hands him the extra key to her room. âIâll let you know if he sleeps, which I doubt but Iâll let you know.â
âMake sure he stays calm and remind him that he knows what heâs doing,â (Y/N) tells him. âDonât let him freak himself out.â
âIâll just distract him,â Trevor replies. âWith food or with an activity that he likes to do. Maybe Iâll take him to a casino for a bit, I donât know. Iâve got him though. Until you take over after the game.â
She nods and Trevor walks up to his and Jamieâs room. With a sigh, she opens the door and lets herself into the room.
Her suitcase with the jersey sheâs wearing to the game is left right by the door and she goes right to the bed. She sets an alarm for five so she wakes up after the Ducks leave for the arena. Sheâll leave a half an hour later so she doesnât run into Jamie when heâs on his way out the door.
After a long day of traveling for the surprise tonight, (Y/N) is fast asleep almost right after she puts her phone on the table to charge.
ŕźşââââââââââââââââŕźť
T-Mobile Arena is one of the nicest arenas that (Y/N) has ever gone to. Most of the people are nice. She gets a few looks from Golden Knights fans because sheâs in the Drysdale jersey that Jamie gave to her. She loves the jersey, and she promised him that sheâd wear it to the first game he plays in after his injury.
That game is tonight.
She makes her way down to her seat with the other Duck wives and girlfriends, and theyâre all excited to see her. Some of them meet her for the first time, but theyâre all super nice.
The puck drops a little after seven, and (Y/N) spots number 6 almost immediately. He glides around the ice like heâs flying, and sheâs mesmerized by it.
(Y/N) has watched practices and Jamie work with Trevor throughout the past few months while he recovered from his injury. That is nothing compared to what sheâs watching right now.
Vegas gets on the board first with two seconds left in the first period, and the fans erupt around her and the other wives and girlfriends.
Then they score again with five minutes left in the second period.
Then they score again six minutes into the third period. Itâs not looking very good for the Ducks at this point. (Y/N) finds herself frowning because she knows that they wanted to be a better team this season.
About thirty seconds later, the Ducks get themselves on the board with a goal from Mason. Their little group celebrates the goal.
(Y/N) knows that Jamie had the puck before Mason put it in the net. His first point in over a year in his first game back from injury. It causes her to scream a little louder in celebration. Her mouth hurts from smiling. She swears the smile doesnât drop until the final horn blares through the arena, signaling a 4-1 Vegas win.
Not the best first game, but itâs only game one of 82.
After the game, (Y/N) finds her way down to the locker room where the Ducks are. She leans against the wall right outside and waits.
She can hear Greg Cronin on the other side of the door talking to his team about the game. She didnât think they did terrible, but theyâre in there getting lectured like they gave up ten goals.
Yeah, Jamie might be really excited to see (Y/N) when he leaves the locker room. Especially after getting a long lecture from his coach.
He played a good game, and sheâs proud of him. Sheâs happy that she decided to hop on a plane and come out to Vegas to watch Jamie play. Sheâll be even happier when he comes out of that locker room in a little bit.
Cronin leaves the room with a heavy sigh and doesnât even acknowledge (Y/N) standing in the hallway. She doesnât even care.
A few minutes after Cronin leaves, Trevor sticks his head out into the hallway. âHeâll be right out,â he tells her. âHeâs hitting the showers really quick before he leaves. I donât think heâs in a good mood but when he sees you, thatâll change.â
She nods and Trevor disappears back into the room.
Just to mess with Jamie a bit, she takes a picture on her Instagram story of the giant Vegas logo and geotags T-Mobile Arena. Jamie has her notifications on so heâll see that as soon as he checks his phone.
Ten minutes pass and (Y/N) is getting antsy. She knows that he doesnât take very long showers so heâll be coming out of that locker room any minute.
Several Ducks leave and greet her as they pass while she waits for Jamie. Troy pops his head back into the locker room when he sees her and says, âHey, Jimmy. Someoneâs here to see you.â
âWho?â
âYouâll see.â
(Y/N) shoots Troy a smile as he walks down the hall to get on the bus.
The door opens and a very confused Jamie Drysdale walks out of the locker room. His eyes land on (Y/N) and he runs up to her. She smiles as Jamie hugs her around her torso and lifts her off her feet.
She giggles and wraps herself around Jamie. Her legs are around his waist and her arms are around his neck. He buries his face into her neck and she puts her nose in his wet hair.
âWhen did you-â
âEarlier today,â she says into his hair. âWorked with Z to make sure you didnât see me when I got in. When I saw you were playing Vegas in your first regular season game back after injury, I had to come out and watch.â
Jamie sets her down but doesnât let her go. She looks up at him and he looks genuinely surprised to see her. Good to know Trevor didnât blab and ruin the surprise.
âI canât believe youâre here in Vegas,â Jamie breathes out. âYou saw my assist in person?â
She smiles and nods. âI saw your assist in person,â she replies. âIâm very proud of you, Jamie baby. First point in a while. I told you that you had nothing to freak out about. Youâre a talented player. I had no doubt that you would be amazing tonight. Maybe even pick up a point or two.â
The smile that Jamie gives her makes her heart flutter. This is the smile she has missed and wanted to see after this game ended no matter the result.
Jamie pulls her against him by her waist and presses a feather soft kiss against her lips. âAll I could think about after that assist was how I wish you were here to see it,â he admits to her. âYou were actually here to see it.â
âMhm,â she hums. âI made the right choice. Iâve really missed you. I wanted to surprise you today.â
âConsider me surprised.â
She gets on her toes and instigates a deeper, more frantic kiss when she presses her lips to his. She kisses him the way sheâs wanted to kiss him in the three weeks since they last saw each other.
Her fingers curl into the hair on the back of his neck, not caring that itâs wet. Jamie has a grip of his jersey on her waist thatâs keeping her from going anywhere. As if she would go anywhere right now.
This is where she wants to be. She doesnât want to go anywhere else.
âEw, canât the two of you wait until weâre back at the hotel to suck faces?â Trevor voice asks. It pulls them apart. âYouâre away from each other for a few weeks and all of a sudden youâre both a fan of PDA. Itâs gross.â
Jamie turns his head and (Y/N) looks over his shoulder to see both Trevor and Mason standing in front of the locker room door. âItâs not my fault you have no one to suck faces with, Z,â Jamie retorts. âImagine being across the country from your girlfriend then tell me you wouldnât suddenly be a fan of PDA.â
She buries her face in Jamieâs shoulder to hide a smile. Trevor rolls his eyes and says, âYouâre sleeping in her room tonight. I am not giving up ours.â
âDonât worry,â Jamie says. âI was already planning on it.â He turns his attention back to (Y/N). âI wouldnât want my teammates to hear the things that Iâm going to do to (Y/N) tonight.â
Yeah, sneaking into Vegas was the best idea sheâs ever had.

the western terminal in harry reid intl airport is a surreal experience
the gates all branch off spoke-like from circular almost-freestanding lounges with windows wall-to-wall and the ceiling bearing internal spokes of its own, each gate advertised by its own led screen listing off airline and flight times &c., and the only environment visible beyond air traffic and other gates is the austere red desert foothills of the spring mountains (i think?), which look particularly martian in the early morning light. the whole things adds up to the feeling of residing in a flying saucer, except for the way the centre of the room is dominated by a dense arcade of lurid bright digital slot machines pushing at the theoretical limits of tackiness

'People have had enough': Here are the 3 'big-picture' reasons why Kamala Harris will win

Itâs time for me to speak plainly about what I think are the chances of Kamala Harris defeating Donald Trump. In July, I said that Joe Bidenâs decision to drop out was a mistake, but hopefully not a fatal one. Itâs been about three months since then. I feel like I owe you a follow-up.
I think the vice president can do it. Yes, there are many, many caveats, but I think she can. I donât base this on polling, because I donât think most of the polling is reliable. I base it on three big-picture things.
The unity, the economy and the bullsâ.
The unity Kamala Harris has united the Democrats in ways Biden could not. To be sure, there is some softness here and here. Former President Barack Obama said as much yesterday when he chided Black men who may be thinking about not voting or voting for Trump. But that seems to be more of a âbringing Democrats back homeâ errand than a structural problem. She has unity. Without that, candidates canât win.
Since the convention, the goal has been expanding the base. She is doing it. Trump isnât. As other writers have already pointed out, the former president has hit or is going to hit soon his ceiling of support, somewhere in the vicinity of 46-47 percent. That would be where things stood in 2016 and 2020. Harris, however, has room to grow, and sheâs growing not just among undecided voters, but among nonvoters.
Harris also has more endorsements from current and former Republican officials than perhaps any Democratic nominee in my lifetime. These are negative and positive. Negative: they have said that they wonât vote for Trump, which means they tacitly endorse Harris. Positive: they have said explicitly that they will vote for her. Republican support has come from all corners and it has amassed so visibly that itâs fair to say Kamala Harris is a bipartisan presidential candidate.
The economy Every economic indicator is going in the right direction â inflation, employment, wages, GDP growth and on and on. Investors have sent stock markets soaring scores of times this year alone. The US economy is the envy of the world. Biden and Harris have pulled off a miracle.
The economy is humming along so well that youâd think it wouldnât be a top issue on voters minds, but it is. I think thatâs due to a few things. First, Republicans respondents to opinion polls lie about the economy. Second, Trump and his allies lie about the economy. Third, prices, especially the cost of food and housing, are so high that they give those lies about the economy the appearance of being true. Put all these pieces together and you have an election in which the economy is the top issue even though the economy has rarely been better.
This is where Harris made a brilliant decision. She isnât moving from Bidenâs transformational accomplishments because sheâd be a fool to do that. But she is expanding the scope of his policy vision. Whereas the president was primarily focused on macroeconomics â inflation, employment, growth, etc. â Harris is focused on microeconomics. Biden had to stabilize an economy on the brink during covid. Now that itâs stabilized, Harris wants to bring the cost of living down for all.
When the economy is good, the incumbent usually wins. Biden is no longer running, but the roaring economy is his doing. Harris is telling voters she wants to broaden that success to include bans on price-gouging, middle-class tax breaks, small-business supports and now expanding Medicare to cover long-term home care for seniors.
And thatâs sounding really, really good to lots of people.
The bullsâ No candidate can win without unity. A growing economy is perhaps the most fundamental aspect of any incumbent partyâs success. But I canât help thinking that the biggest reason Kamala Harris is going to pull this off is because so many people are so tired of Trumpâs bullsâ.
The bullsâ is why he messed up Americaâs response to covid. Itâs why he tried overthrowing a free and fair election. And most recently, itâs why Republican voters are actually turning away help from the government after hurricanes rammed through their communities because they believe lies about Democrats coming to get them.
As Tim Walz said Friday on Twitter: âAll Donald Trump and JD Vance know about manufacturing is how to manufacture bullsâ.â
Itâs endless. Itâs everywhere. Itâs exhausting. I think most people have had enough. And I think thatâs why polling now shows a stable race.
Itâs not that I trust polling. What I trust is Americansâ weariness. Even Trumpâs people are bored. Nothing about him has changed in the nine years heâs been in national politics. If anything, his bullsâ has gotten worse. Itâs like the more he lies, the more people are digging into the fact that they made up their minds about him a long time ago.
Indeed, no matter what has happened â an assassination attempt, a couple of massive hurricanes or Trumpâs conspicuous mental deterioration â very little has moved the electorate since around August 1. Growth has mainly been in Harrisâ direction. Trumpâs has almost peaked. The static nature of the race was enough for one data analyst to joke: âNothing has happened. We are all insanely bored.â
The conclusion If Harris loses, it wonât be because of anything she did or didnât do in terms of policy. It sure-as-hell wonât be because of Trumpâs positive attributes, though the press corps will try to find some if he prevails.
No, a defeat for Harris would be due to just enough people believing just enough lies about her and her party in just enough places.
Alas, a repeat of 2016.
But I think thereâs reason to be optimistic.
The fundamentals are sound.
I hope Iâm right.

Biden's non-binary nuclear official Sam Brinton is arrested as a 'fugitive of justice' - six months after being fired for stealing women's clothes at multiple airports
The former Biden administration nuclear energy official Sam Brinton has been arrested as a 'fugitive of justice', six months after being fired for stealing women's clothes in airports.Â
Brinton was picked up at home in Maryland. The non-binary, drag-queen was fired after admitting to taking a stranger's suitcase from the luggage carousel during a work trip.Â
The Biden administration had proudly announced Brinton's hiring, one of the first non-binary, LGBTQ hires in government.
---
For the luggage thing:
(...)
Brinton, who attracted attention as one of the federal government's first non-binary officials, was first charged last month for nabbing a womanâs suitcase from the baggage carousel at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in September. They initially denied taking the bagâwhich was reportedly worth more than $2,500âbut later said they had grabbed it by mistake.
(...)
Then last week a second set of charges were filed in Las Vegas for Brintonâwith police sharing surveillance footage of them leaving the Harry Reid International Airport with another woman's bagâthis one worth an estimated $3,670, according to court documents.
(...)
The court documents said an officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan department viewed video footage showing Briton looking around suspiciouslyâplacing the bag back on the luggage turnstile before snagging it a second time as it came around.

Not his first offense of that kind since

Sam Britton stole luggage from a WOC. If a white woman did she would be crucified by leftists, and she should be held accountable. But it was stolen by a white guy with pronouns so leftists are đ¤ˇââď¸
A fashion designer is going viral after alleging that beleaguered former Department of Energy official and âgender fluidâ activist Sam Brinton stole her suitcase and was photographed wearing the custom clothing she had inside the luggage.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7cd0740911f16963a4b463be77338c10/af23dd46d27c72a0-b8/s540x810/27adc45b669ce7e270af43ac8bfe1ec73574c6a9.jpg)
Asya Idarous Khamsin, a Tanzanian fashionista from Texas, took to Twitter on February 20 to explain that her suitcase had been stolen from Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. almost 5 years ago. Khamsin says the stolen baggage contained a number of custom-made outfits she had designed herself, and, after hearing about Brintonâs chronic luggage theft, had looked him up out of curiosity.Â
Shockingly, Khamsin uncovered a number of photos of Brinton wearing clothing she identified as being her creations.
While the thread has just gone viral on Twitter this week, Khamsin first tried to bring attention to Brintonâs alleged thievery in December of 2022 when she made an Instagram video showing Brinton wearing her pieces.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2fff2e34a12e3d6ef3b5d0309872cb89/af23dd46d27c72a0-7b/s1280x1920/d09b17007f2e6f90e15d96f15c098549a05130ba.jpg)

In her Twitter thread, posted two days ago, she shared additional images of Brinton with side-by-sides of the clothing she had taken at other points in time.
One photo Khamsin provided showed a model walking a runway in a stunning yellow and gold dress, one which bears a design that looks impossibly similar when compared to outfits Brinton has been seen wearing in 2018 and 2019.Â
The gold crescent pattern on the fabric appears on many of Khamsinâs designs from her 2018 fashion show, Lady In Red.
Brinton had been photographed wearing at least two of the pieces suspected to have come from Khamsinâs luggage at the 2018 Trevor Project gala in New York City.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a4d0c29c91df79fb9a29eb8a29355534/af23dd46d27c72a0-44/s540x810/87c04d4a3284936b7b3e9f1acc6bf02b749cb624.jpg)
Shocked and appalled, social media users began digging through photos of Brinton to try to find outfits that could also be items from Khamsinâs missing luggage.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b4ccb57d9a8afab6b40ec48ab9a52d53/af23dd46d27c72a0-8a/s540x810/a19d8828cf60f1f1091e1553fe31028b90b2af83.jpg)
One user found a photo of Brinton wearing a top which was similar in design to the dresses, and asked Khamsin if she recognized it. The fashion designer claimed the top as yet another piece of clothing that had been in her stolen luggage.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c95b4fffb8c5652d76d6e5a4d73c7e58/af23dd46d27c72a0-2f/s640x960/d2fc47af6f0ca248238373dfe5cca384079b636d.jpg)
Khamsin explained that she first looked into Brinton as a suspect after his arrest for stealing luggage was reported by Fox News. Brinton has recently been charged with stealing a womanâs luggage at a Minneapolis airport in September 2022. The contents of the luggage was valued at $2,325.
Shortly after his arrest, Brinton was charged again for stealing another womanâs suitcase in an earlier incident at Las Vegasâ Harry Reid International Airport. According to police, the suitcase contained more than $3,500 worth of jewelry, clothing, and makeup. Security footage appears to show Brinton walking through Harry Reid International Airport with the luggage in July 2022.
According to the arrest warrant, Brinton had already received his own bags from the carousel before grabbing the strangerâs luggage and making off with it.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/fe02b21530698c64e1400983e519c090/af23dd46d27c72a0-05/s540x810/939f107c3c65d8278ffecd7f74e253861155ae67.jpg)
Brinton appeared in court regarding the incident in Minneapolis on February 15. He was released without bail. He had appeared in court regarding the Las Vegas incident in December of 2022. In Nevada, bail for Brinton was set at $15,000 on a felony grand larceny charge. The Nevada judge in that case told the former nuclear waste official to âstay out of trouble.â
If found guilty of his charges, Brinton could face up to five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.Â
Prior to his arrest, Brinton worked as deputy assistant secretary of the Department of Energyâs Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition. However, he has since been released from his position after the Biden administration came under scrutiny following his arrest.
Brintonâs employment in such a high ranking government role had raised eyebrows even prior to his alleged thievery coming to light due to his profile as a âgenderfluidâ LGBTQ activist and âkink lifestyle.âÂ
When Brinton was first appointed to the Biden Administration, an article by Metro Weekly featuring Brinton called âPuppy Loveâ began to circulate publicly.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/948046b8d5504ff1cd5ad1686fa42937/af23dd46d27c72a0-de/s540x810/22d66c45f5a5423f19c79127437b8a2d4e5924bf.jpg)
In the article, Brinton explains his relationship with another man who pretends to be a dog called âNubiâ. âI can hear when Pup needs something faster, because of the difference in the grunts or the moans,â Brinton said. âI actually have trouble when we transition from pup play to having sex. Like, âNo, I canât have you whimper like that when weâre having sex,â because I donât want to mix that world. Itâs interesting, because he doesnât have to come out of pup mode to have me f*ck him.â Brinton told Metro Weekly.
As well as pup play, Brinton has also given talks at universities on BDSM. In one seminar titled ââRopes, Whips, & Kinks, Oh My!!â The Polytechnicâ, Brinton discussed various sexual fetishes, including adult babies, diaper play, humiliation, degradation, and more.

Word Count: 2086
Warning: mention of guns, m*rder word, sh**ting, AND THIS IS MY FIRST TIME SO BEAR WITH MEđŤśđť
Location: Los Angeles (Made up location)
Summary: as a Supervisory Special Agent, your team have been assigned to a murder case which involved street robberies⌠but then Charles Leclerc comes into action. (Inspired by a CCTV footage of Charles chasing down his watch thieves.â
Abbreviation: UnSub (Unknows Subject- The criminals), B.A.U (Behavioral Analysis Unit)
----------
You put a black sunglasses as you get out of the airport. You and the rest of the Behavioral Analysis Unit Team split into two different SUVs as you, Reid, and Hotch go straight to the LAPD office while Derek, Emily, and JJ go to the crime scene. The case the B.A.U team is working on is about some murder that took place in Malibu with stealing expensive watches as the modus operandi. We believe that the UnSub is more than one person.
All the victims were found in the alleys and all of them have lost their expensive watches. The B.A.U team came to the conclusion that the victims had fought back the UnSub but instead got murdered in the middle of the fight.
Your team arrived at the LAPD office 5 minutes later. The LAPD has set up the office for your team. Hotch, Reid and you directly setting up the files and the map. Reid spent another minute doing the geographic profiling as you and Hotch talked to Sergeant Reyes about the evidence.
Hotchâs phone rings and it shows Garciaâs name on the screen. Penelope Garcia is our tech analysis. Sheâs doing her job back at our office in Quantico.
âYes, Garcia. Youâre on speaker.â Hotch says, his eyes still fixed on the victimâs pictures.
âI got the brand name of those expensive watches. Rolex and Richard Mille, they only stole these two brands.â She says as her typing sounds got faster. âThe UnSub let go of 2 victims who wore another brand.â
âDo you have the name of those 2 victims?â You ask her.
âOf course, Honey. Their names are Jacob Rhodes and Lilian Harris. Iâve sent their addresses to your phone. Ciao!â
With that information, Hotch calls Derek to go to those addresses and talk to the victims.
â
âFuck!â You mutter under your breath as you try to control the steering wheels. You end up in this situation because Hotch asked you and Emily to watch the UnSub when Garcia sent the address of their whereabouts to the team. Your team have two UnSubs who match the profile. Greg Finn and Tyler Brendan.
You and Emily wait for them silently and patiently inside the car, until a man gets out of his car in front of the UnSubs. The UnSubs seem to know the man because they ask for something. You frown, thinking about the worst thing about the man being their leader or something, but then they hold up their phone to take a selfie with the man. What? Is that man a celebrity?
You try to look closely, but you just canât see the face clearly. Youâre not that far from them but theyâre facing the opposite direction which makes it harder to see the manâs face. They seem good for a while until everything turns into chaos when the thieves run to their car as the man shouts at them.
âMerde! My watch!â He shouts while he abruptly gets into his car, trying to get ahold of the thieves car.
You and Emily are trailing behind him and my god! He is fast. âWatch out!â Emily yells.
âFuck!â You mutter under your breath as you try to control the steering wheels. âHow is he driving so fast?â
âGirl, heâs driving a Ferrari. Of course he is fast.â Emily replies, as it is so obvious.
âDamn! We need to get one so we can be fast when catching the criminals.â You joke, trying to ease up the situation. Emily laughs, agreeing with you before she calls Derek to let him know where the UnSub is heading.
âIâm ready at the end of the road, bring them here Y/N.â Derek says through the speaker.
âCopy that.â You reply. âTheir victim is chasing them too. It seems like they tried to ask for a selfie then stole the watch and ran afterwards.â
âThere was no fight?â Now Hotch turns to ask through the speaker, âThey just ran?â
âYes, they just ran.â Emily answers him. âWeâre close. Do you guys see them?â
âAlright. Weâre gonna cut him from here.â Derek says then turn off the call.
âWait the manâs car didnât know Derek is gonna cut them off, heâs on high speed with a fucking Ferrari.â Realisation hits you as you think of the worst thing that will happen if he didnât slow down.
âDamn it! Youâre right.â Emily cursed, âIâm putting on the siren. Can you drive faster?â
âIâm trying. Might as well be an F1 driver after this case, though.â You groan, trying to drive faster so you can get to the manâs car. Youâre not a big fan of driving this fast so you feel your hands are sweating. It makes you grip the steering wheels harder so you donât slip.
Finally youâre trailing right behind the man. You try to overtake him but heâs driving like a freaking pro F1 driver. Fuck it! âEmily, turn off the siren and shout at him. Iâll try to get as close as possible. This man thinks heâs in F1 and doesnât let me overtake.â
Emily does as you said. She turns off the siren then puts herself over the car window. âSIR. IâM SSA EMILY PRENTISS FROM FBI AND I ORDER YOU TO SLOW DOWN.â Emily shouts as loud as possible and you hope he hears him.
Thankfully, he heard her and slowed down his car so you finally can drive right beside him. You gesture your hand to ask him to roll down his window.
âCharles Leclerc?â Youâre surprised and not surprised. Surprised because you never thought of seeing your favourite F1 driver here and not surprised because like you said, heâs driving like a pro F1 driver and my god, of course he drives a Ferrari.
Youâve always been a F1 fan but the job makes it hard to catch up with the races and the driver. Sure, he is your favourite but you donât even know what type of Ferrari he drives daily. You rarely watch F1 races ever since you joined the B.A.U team 3 years ago. The day you get to watch it was on your phone while you were writing your report at the office.
âThey stole my watch.â He says. My god his accent! You always love his accent.
âMy team will cut him off. Thatâs why we ask you to slow down. Now Iâm gonna go first and you need to trail behind me. Donât overtake me because it would be dangerous as youâre their target.â You explain to him.
He nods, âOkay, Agent.â
âY/N!! Is that Charles Leclerc? Your favourite F1 driver that you and Hotch talked about a lot?â Emily smiles, she canât hide her excitement for you. She knows how much you idolised Charles.
âYes. Oh my god, why should we meet in this situation? So chaotic.â You groan.
âGirl, are you kidding? This is the best situation. He might become your fan after this.â Emily says.
You roll your eyes, âBeing my fan, my ass! Iâm not that cool .â
âCâmon! You and I know that weâre really good at this job and weâre badass. How can he not become a fan after seeing you catching some criminals?â
You shrug, âI donât wanna be delusional.â
As Emily would talk again, she got cut off by the scene in front of us. There are Hotch and Derek pointing guns at the UnSubs while the UnSubs do the same. The LAPD officer also surrounded them with their guns pointing at them. They canât go anywhere.
âShit! Theyâre armed.â You cursed, then quickly parked the car. You and Emily get out of the car with your gun pointing at the UnSubs. One of them knows youâre there so now heâs pointing the gun at you and Emily. Itâs Tyler.
âWe both know this is useless. Lower your gun!â You demand, but they don't seem to be affected by you. âI said lower your gun!â
âAgent.â Charles calls you. Shit! You nearly forgot that he was there behind your car.
âStep back, Charles.â You say to him but your eyes donât move from the UnSub. You can see Hotch look at Charles but quickly divert his attention back to the Unsub.
âWe just need this watch.â Tyler says, âwe donât wanna cause any trouble.â
âYou think we donât know that you murdered those victims after you stole their watch?â Derek says to them.
Greg gulps. His face turns pale after hearing that information. Bold of them to assume that your team donât know what they did.
âJust get down and weâll talk more at the office.â Hotch says calmly, try to make the situation as safe as possible so nobody gets hurt and the UnSubs go to the custody alive. âWe want to know more about you.â
Tyler seems to think about it. You knew from Garcia that Tyler is the submissive and Greg is the Dominant. So in this situation, Tyler is more likely to surrender. When Greg sees Tyler thinking about it, his instinct of flight or fight got the best of him as he knows they canât flight, he points his gun to Charles, his finger is ready to fire the gun. But before he can do anything, you quickly shoot him right in the chest. Gregâs blood splatter to Tyler as he screams and puts down his gun.
Derek quickly gets Tyler and puts a handcuff on him while Hotch checks Gregâs heartbeat. He looks at me then shakes his head. It means Greg is dead.
You and Emily let out a sigh of relief. It was a clean shot and a clean take down even though one of the UnSub is dead. So you see it as a successful take down and glad it is over.
âI believe thereâs someone who wants to talk to you.â Emily whispers to you.
You see Charles walking towards me with a smirk on his face. âI didnât know an FBI agent could know my name.â
You chuckle, âMy boss is a big fan of yours. Of course I know your name.â
âHow about you?â Charles asks, furrowing his perfect brow.
âMe? How about me?â You ask him, confused about what he means.
âAre you a fan, too?â He asks me. His eyes fixed on yours.
âSheâs a huge fan. A total tifosi but never had time to watch a full race because of the job.â Emily chimes. You guess she canât take your bullshit anymore because she knows you probably say no.
Charles smiles. His dimples showing as he does it. Oh, how cute! âGlad to know a brave, badass FBI agent is a tifosi.â
âNot a big deal.â You mumble. âAlright, Iâm a huge fan then what?â
âThen I would like to ask you to come to the paddock on Sunday. I have a race here.â
âHuh? Me? Iââ
âSheâll come. Iâll make sure of it.â Emily says with a huge smile on her face. âSheâs got VIP Access then?â
âOf course. Iâll arrange the VIPâs for the FBI Team. Iâd be happy if you all want to come. This is the least I can do as a thank you for saving my life tonight.â
âYou donât have to do that. Weâre just doing our job.â You stated, trying so hard not to scream yes when he said about the VIP thing.
Charles smirks and without saying anything to you, he walks to Hotch and Derek. He shakes their hands then talks to them a bit then looks at you with a big smile.Â
âYour boss says yes.â He says when he is in front of you. âIâll see you in the paddock.â
You smile, shaking your head. âNice one, thoughâ
He winks at you. HE FREAKING WINKS!! âI need your number for the VIP information.â
Trying so hard to control your scream, you give him your name card. He takes it with a smile then reads it. Oh stop smiling! Your heart canât take his smile anymore. Heâs too cute.
âAlright then, see you in the paddock Supervisory Special Agent Y/N Y/L/Nâ
