I have so many thoughts (as usual) about all of this. (This is also my third time writing this).
I don't think I've mentioned it here, but I am a fic writer. Except I haven't posted anything in months despite writing a lot during that time. Part of it is just me being so very busy and so very tired, and a little sad. But some of is just exhausting because when I did post often, I didn't really get a lot of comments. I can recall about 2 comments off the top of my head, because they were such specific things which I loved. I have those two comments saved, like pieces of paper in a scrapbook.
I also haved saved my own comments on Nisha's writing and our interactions. Because part of the joy of being human is experiencing things and sharing things with people. Part of the wonder is taking a not saying to go and befriend fic writers or to leave long essay comments (though they are nice). I'm saying to have meaningful feedback and conversations with them.
I have more thoughts. Some about specifically you, because out of everything you've written for I've only genuinely interacted with one of the canon sources (Harry Potter). I was here two blogs ago (and a url before pinkchubbiebunnie), but you came back and then I came back and have been more active since but that's a different message. -Rotten Anon.
Thank you for sending this!
You are so right! A huge part of the joy of being in fandom is interacting with people. MAKING FRIENDS. My fandom friends are the only ones I interact with every single day, because with my chronic illness - I don't go outside often (maybe once a month, or less than - I literally only go outside for doctors' appointments. that's it) - so these are the people I am closest with. my fandom besties know more of me than 90% of people irl
And idk if I have mentioned this - but I have written fics that I haven't posted (for example, a follow up to Honey, which is one of my most popular fics ever, and the follow up is not smut but a commentary on sexuality and how people are valid if they don't follow one specific label) - Jaycen has said recently fanfiction is my 'love language', so I write fanfiction for literally every thought that crosses my fucking mind. And a very large chunk of those fics don't make it to being posted because they are too raw and too personal and I know if someone commented publicly on those fics in a way I didn't like - I would be upset. So I don't open myself up to that
Fandom is supposed to be about making friends. It's not supposed to be about increasing the number of words you have read in a year or reading whatever is most popular or 'hate reading' something just to yell at the characters. Fandom is supposed to be about making friends and enjoy the same characters with those friends.
It's the difference between attending a cooking class with your friends and going to the grocery store or a takeout place by yourself to eat in silence. Like you are not supposed to be here for the stuff - fanfiction is not a product. You are supposed to be here for the fandom and the companionship, and the fanfiction is supposed to be a way to bond over those characters with friends.
You are supposed to seek out fanfiction that has been posted because it means the person on the other end of that fic - the person who created it - also likes the same things and the same characters that you like.
And it is great if someone with a writing style you already really like posts fics from something you haven't seen before - because you might get into that show or you might just get some cool fics out of it - but still, discuss those fics with that person like a friend. That is like watching someone bake while chatting with them, keeping them company, and licking the spoon even if you don't intend to have a piece of cake in the end or even if the cake is meant for a party you're not going to.
Just, again - fandom is about friendship. Fanfiction is not a product.

Réagissez dans les commentaires ! 30 Day OC Challenge: Day 2, Memory
(Look I am keeping this all in the same universe, but I didn’t promise it would always be the same OC. @mocha-writes, by your request, here you go.)
Silvana's vision split in two.
Surrounded by the unmistakable murky green of the fade... the Angry, flaming mockery of life before her howled its triumph at her defeat. She slumped to her knees.
Surrounded by the strange, glowing blue walls of the Harrowing Chamber, Alistair, the templar recruit who had always been so sweet, stood over her collapsed body, holding a reddened sword, weeping.
… Oh.
Well she had known, hadn't she? It had been too soon, her training remained incomplete, and she knew only one combat spell. If only she'd had a little more time.
Her fading thoughts, so hard to hang onto, flickered to her makeshift family. Poor, resilient Nisha; bright, stubborn Macsen; and most of all, Jowan, affectionate and true. She would miss them so much, wherever her soul headed next. Nobody truly knew.
“Take care of them, for me...” she whispered with the last of her breath.
In one world, her words bubbled red with the blood pouring down her chin. Alistair choked on a sob. The room around him faded to gray at the edges.
In the other, her words faded like the last light of day; a faint glow and then gone. The spirit of Charity who had watched over her flickered with indecision. Blue light washed across everything.
Then everything faded out.
Silvana woke. Or did she? It felt like time had passed, but since when? How much? Something warm curled around her whole self. There was something she was supposed to be doing, wasn't there? Her thoughts slipped out from under her. Silvana drifted for another while.
Silvana woke. She didn't want to. She wanted to stay nestled in this warmth. Waking up each day led to so many aggravations. She endured dress fittings that made her feel so strange and unlike herself. Hours of hairdressing that finished her transformation into someone she didn’t know. Dances that persisted too late into the night; too hot, too loud. She always had a headache the next day. So many people she could barely remember but she had to; they were important. She would have to marry one someday and then she... she shuddered. She didn't want to face another day of it. She'd wake up in a little while. Just a few more minutes...
Silvana woke. She didn't want to. She felt the ship to Ferelden rocking her cozy hammock. Waking meant enduring the templars' glares, enduring more humiliating scrutiny. She would make herself small, and quiet, and read her Chant. Mother Theohild- well, Sister Theohild now, she supposed, would protect her as much as possible. She owed the priest everything. Thanks to her, Silvana wouldn't have to endure the Gallows, being a pawn moved against her family. Nor would she have to endure marriage to a blackmailing attempted rapist. She chose this. When she reached Kinloch Hold, everything would be all right. But in the meantime, just a few more minutes...
Silvana woke. She didn't want to. Waking meant washing in the cold, communal bathroom and pretending nobody was looking at her bosom. Every day she faced the endless task of catching up with those who had manifested their magic a good ten years sooner than she had. She worked so hard. She reveled in her studies but she was so very tired. She felt the warm touch of a friend, curling around her. Friends transformed the cold, impersonal Circle into a home. She nestled deeper into her friend's embrace. It was all right, the bells hadn't even chimed morning, yet. Just a few more minutes...
Silvana woke. She didn't want to. She had such a nice dream, a dream of the past. Nisha was safe, her mind her own. Macsen was younger, smiling, less harried. He wasn't involved with that templar, wasn't... surviving the best way he knew how, in ways she understood but wished otherwise. Jowan looked less anxious, less fearful- was the jolly, smiling boy who had welcomed her on her first night and a year later, told Silvana she was family. Her mentor Sini still lived in the Circle, hadn't yet vanished. When had everything gone so wrong? Why did the Maker insist on letting them all suffer so? She couldn't face reality. It was a struggle to even stay awake...
Silvana awoke. Or did she? How could she be certain? Something felt very strange. Where was she? She felt like someone carried her, but also like she floated. Did she dream? Why wouldn't her eyes open? Silvana strained her senses to see or hear anything. She had to wake UP.
Oh, came a voice from inside her head. Are you ready?
She tried to speak but couldn't find her throat.
Just try to think a little clearer, if you can.
?!
I'm sorry, I'm making a mess of this, aren't I? Do you remember where you are, what you were doing last?
Silvana thought back to icy tendrils spearing into her mind. She remembered losing touch with herself and pain, so much pain. She remembered Alistair weeping.
If she could have gasped, she would have. No, nonono no, NO. that can't be. How am I... How AM I?!
The voice that wasn't hers returned. It's me, Charity. Do you remember me?
Yes, I remember you. I'm dead, then? Am I a spirit now, too?
Charity hesitated. Yesss... I think that's so. I didn't have more than a second to think so I just sort of, collected you? I had to do something.
Silvana mentally sighed. Charity probably literally had to do something. That was the spirit's nature, after all. But still. I'm very confused, Charity.
Yes, I suppose so. I'm sorry. Wrath threw you off again when the templars killed your mortal body and I just caught you. I don't know how else to explain it.
Silvana thought back. Her last thought hadn't been rage at her fate although she had been very angry at the injustice of everything. She had worried for her friends, had wanted to make sure they'd be safe, though of course they wouldn't be. Couldn't be, not in the Circle. Not without Silvana to look after them. Not without her to heal them, to ask her family to donate the things she knew they needed most, and to argue on their behalf when her noble training actually came in useful for once. She regretted, and asked anyone listening for help for others. Of course Charity responded. That part made sense.
So, Silvana mused. I died, but I didn't die all the way?
Yes, but I don't know what that means. I'm not sure if you are a spirit, or a ghost, or just yourself, but away from your body.
Silvana felt Charity's agitation. She had felt carried, but perhaps that wasn't right. She heard whispers of Charity's thoughts before they came to her. They must have merged in some way unfamiliar to them both. Silvana contemplated this. Contemplated herself as being a part of Charity, and the reverse; Charity as a part of her. Contemplated the nature of WE. Silvana found herself content enough.
It's all right, Charity. Thank you. We'll figure it out. We've got time.

My name is Armin Arlert. I live in London with my sister, Amanda, and our grandpa. Our parents died when I was 8 and they left us with a book called 'History of Hogwarts' and it talked all about magic. We spent hours reading and rereading the book. My grandpa said that I wasn't a wizard and that my sister wasn't a witch, but he was wrong, as we both got acceptance letters to Hogwarts. There, I met two of my closest friends, and one person named Jaeger. He made fun of me and my sister about how we don't have a fortune of gold under our belts. For a long time I hated him, but people can change... Right?

I liked them being bros. 4: notpLol Eleven/Rose … and Twelve/Rose… and honestly pretty much any other Doctor besides Nine or Ten/Rose. I don’t really subscribe to the “same man = same romantic relationship” logic. (Thirteen TBD.)5: first headcanon that pops into my headrose tyler has never read a harry potter book in her life. she saw a couple of the movies. they were fine i guess. 6: favorite line from this character“You don’t just let things happen. You say no. You have the guts to do what’s right when everyone else just walks away.” runner up: “My name’s Rose. That’s a sort of plant. We might be related.” 7: one way in which I relate to this characterah that s1 rose directionlessness, i been there

Cling - Chapter 2
My teeth are rotting oh my god. More clingy baby Peter with good dad Tony featuring Papa Steve! I tagged everyone it would let me, sorry if I missed anybody! (Ps. I’ve seen this happen to parents and it’s hilarious.)
Chapter 1
Steve was standing at the sink rinsing the dishes from breakfast, Peter happily humming away in his high chair eating chopped up bananas and strawberries.
He was just putting the last of the plates onto the drying rack when he heard someone walk into the kitchen.
"Hi, Daddy!" Peter's cheery voice rang out.
Steve turned around in time to see Tony smile and wander over to Peter in his high chair.
"Hi, Petey-Pie!"
Steve and Peter hadn't gotten to see Tony yet today as he had to get up earlier for a morning meeting with the board. He had apparently gotten back awhile ago and had taken the time to change out of his usual three-piece Tom Ford and into an old pair of jeans and a faded t-shirt.
Peter smiled up at Tony from his chair, waving around a handful of mashed fruit.
"Daddy, look! Nanna!"
"You got a banana with your breakfast?" Tony sat down in the chair next to Peter's, smiling his thanks at Steve when he set a cup of coffee down next to him. "Looks like you got some strawberries too."
Peter nodded, squeezing the fruit in his hands and mashing it even more. He moved to put it in his mouth before he stopped, glanced at Tony - who was watching him with a small smile - and offered his hand to him.
"Wanna nanna?"
"No baby, you eat your banana," Tony said, leaning forward to brush Peter's hair back from his forehead. Peter leaned into the touch before going back to eating the mess in his hands.
(mobile, watch the cut)
"We're gonna need to get his hair cut soon," Tony murmured.
"Yeah, we can take him somewhere," Steve said, wiping down the kitchen table. "Actually, Tasha would probably do it if you asked."
"Probably." Tony turned to Steve. "How was your morning?"
"Good," Steve said with a smile. "Went to the gym to train with Bucky for a bit before Peter woke up. Then we came up here and made breakfast for everybody. You just missed them; Clint and Natasha had to go to SHIELD for a mission defending, Bucky went to do something with Sam, and Bruce had to go back to his lab."
"Thor still in Asgard?"
"Until Tuesday, at least." Steve sighed, looking around the kitchen. "You eat yet? I can make you something."
"No, they had some food at the meeting, I'm ok." Tony smiled up at his husband.
"Papa, I done," Peter said suddenly, messy hands raised towards Steve. Tony had to hold back a laugh.
It seemed Peter had gotten more banana on his face than actually in his mouth, along with some strawberry juice on top of it and on his hands.
"You are a mess," Steve laughed, grabbing a washcloth and wiping down Peter's hands and face. Peter made a face and tried to pull away, but Steve just grabbed his chin to keep him straight.
Steve lifted the dirty tray from the chair to go put it in the sink and wipe it down. Peter turned towards Tony with his arms raised.
"Up?"
Tony smiled, putting down his empty coffee cup to get up and pull Peter out of his chair. Once he had him in his arms, Peter put his head down on Tony's shoulder, his hand clenching the front of his shirt. Tony kissed his forehead.
"What are you going to do today?"
"I have some work I gotta do in the shop," Tony said, bouncing Peter a little.
"Ok," Steve said, grabbing a towel to dry off the high chair tray. "I don't have anything today so I guess me and Peter will keep busy until you're done."
After Steve had dried the chair's tray and reattached it, he walked over to Tony and leaned forward to finally give Tony a good morning kiss. His face was just inches from Tony's when he felt a small, slightly sticky hand push back on his face.
"No!"
Steve pulled back, grimacing as he wiped the stickiness off of his face. He looked back over at Peter, who had both arms wrapped tightly around Tony's neck, face pressed against Tony's cheek, glaring – as much as a two-year-old could glare – at Steve.
"Petey-Pie, what are you doing?" Tony's face held confusion but his voice sounded amused.
"My daddy," Peter said firmly, arms wrapping tighter around Tony's neck.
"Am I not allowed to kiss daddy?" Steve asked, an amused smile spreading across his face.
"No," Peter said again, his voice coming out in a bit of a whine now. He stuck his lower lip out in a pout, but his grip on Tony had loosened a bit. "My daddy. No kiss."
"Well, if I can't kiss Daddy," Steve said, "can I kiss you?"
Peter seemed to think about it quite seriously for a moment before nodding, sticking his cheek out in Steve's direction for a kiss.
"Oh, you are so spoiled," Tony said with a chuckle.
Steve planted a loud, wet kiss on Peter's cheek, blowing a raspberry that made the little boy squirm and giggle in Tony's arms.
While Peter was distracted, Steve moved quickly to the left, trying one more time to sneak past Peter to kiss Tony.
"NO!"
Peter tucking his arms back around Tony's neck, lightly hitting Steve on the nose and squeezing so tightly Tony made a slight choking noise.
"Ok, ok, no kisses." Peter's voice had sounded more distressed that time and Steve figured it was better to let it go and stop teasing before Peter headed to a meltdown.
"What has gotten into you, kiddo?" Tony looked at Peter concerned, rubbing a hand up and down Peters back. Peter didn't say anything, just buried his face in Tony's neck instead.
Tony threw a confused look at Steve but Steve just shrugged.
"Ok baby, you're gonna have to go with Papa now because I have to go get some work done in the lab, ok?"
"Wanna stay you," Peter's disappointed voiced murmured into Tony's neck. He didn't even pick up his head.
Steve felt his heart twinge at how sad his baby looked.
"You can stay with me," Tony said, resigned. At this point, he knew saying no could very well lead to a crying spell from the boy. "Do you want to play with Dum-E?"
Peter nodded, arms still around Tony, head still buried in Tony's neck.
Tony shot Steve a "what the hell just happened" look as he turned and walked out of the room, hand still rubbing soothing circles into Peter's back.
Steve stood bemused for a moment before shrugging and turning back to finish cleaning the kitchen.
After living with the Avengers for nearly eight years he was used to strange mood swings.

““Religion” operates in the same mold by focusing on Dev’s (and in turn Ansari’s) Muslim faith, or really, lack thereof. In the episode, Dev pretends that he’s a devout Muslim in front of his religious relatives, even though he doesn’t observe prayer, isn’t fasting for Ramadan, and more importantly, he eats pork all the time. After tempting his cousin Navid (played by Ansari’s actual cousin, Harris Gani) into trying pork, the two skip Eid prayer to attend a barbecue festival, which prompts Dev to admit to his relatives that he’s not religious, offending them as well as his parents.
The episode opens with a sequence featuring kids being dragged against their will to various religious services by their parents. It’s a neat illustration of how religion mostly serves as a burden to kids...and it’s also a microcosm of how Dev and his parents Ramesh and Nisha (Shoukath and Fatima Ansari) view religion differently. To Dev, it’s mostly been a prohibitive force and a reminder of his otherness, but to his parents, it’s a symbol of community and a guide to a fulfilling life.
Aziz and his brother Aniz Adam Ansari, who co-wrote the episode, appropriately don’t privilege one viewpoint over the other, allowing them both to coexist equally...
In doing so, “Religion” gets at something fundamentally true about the parent-child divide regarding faith: Many parents just want their children to respect their own beliefs even if they don’t share them. It sounds trite, but it’s a potent idea simply because religion is such a charged issue in America...
Nisha takes Dev’s confession especially hard because Islam has been and will always remain a guiding force in her life, and she’s offended by his flagrant disrespect of her own beliefs. He tries to explain that he’s a good person and that abstaining from pork doesn’t negate that, nor does it act in opposition to her, but it’s not enough.
After two weeks of no contact with his mom, Dev finally asks his father why she won’t speak to him. Ramesh tells him that when he acts against his faith to their faces, it feels like they failed him. Of course that’s not actually true, but it still feels that way to them. The kicker comes when Ramesh lays it in easy-to-understand terms: “Look, man. You can drink, you can eat pork, you can smoke Mary Jane, that’s your business. But when you do it in front of mom, it hurts her feelings.”
Soon after, Dev picks up his Quran that his parents gave him in college and starts flipping through it. He finds a passage that speaks to him: “To you be your religion, to me my religion.” He texts his mother the passage and they start speaking again, mostly because she’s touched that he read the Quran at all. Crucially, Dev indicates that he understands his mother’s perspective even though he holds a different one.
In his recent Saturday Night Live monologue, Ansari joked about how the best way to end Islamophobia would be to change the superficially threatening music that scores Muslim prayer in popular film and television. He pointed out that Islamophobia doesn’t make sense on the paper because the God in Islam is the same God revealed to Abraham in the Bible, so alienating representation might be the cause of some misguided fears around the world. In “Religion,” Ansari follows through on this claim and ends the episode with contrasting scenes of Dev hanging out with his friends at a restaurant and Dev’s parents at their mosque, all set to Bobby Charles’s “I Must Be in a Good Place Now.”
Nuanced representation of marginalized cultures clearly has societal import, and while it’s unclear whether Master of None has that kind of reach...there’s nothing wrong with making a positive contribution anyway...the final montage genuinely moved me, precisely because it makes a specific point within the episode — that community and peace come in different forms — and it showcases Islam in a wholly safe and positive light.
“Religion” is a damn good episode of Master of None on its own, and if Bobby Charles’s music helps some people evolve past their bigoted views, then more power to Ansari.”
