ficlet for 2021 Harriscofest @heckyeahharrisco ~700 words

Cisco was in the workshop working on something especially complicated. Harry was working across the room, sitting with his ankles crossed, up on the desk, recalibrating the pulse rifle. There was music playing and Cisco was humming along under his breath.

Usually when Harry was DJ, Cisco couldn't stand the mix. This particular night Cisco found himself shifting his hips in time with some of the songs. Harry smiled at Cisco from across the room, admiring the way Cisco moved to the music. When Cisco realized he was singing along, he stopped and looked up. Harry quickly busied himself, fiddling with the pulse rifle again.

Cisco came to stand in front of Harry and Harry brought his feet down off the desk to look at Cisco. "What?" Harry asked

"Why am I enjoying this playlist?" Cisco asked, eyes narrowed, suspicious.

Harry stuttered a moment. "well I - I may have created a mix of songs that I know you won't - you're unlikely to complain about!"

Cisco cocked his head and blinked a few times. "you made me a playlist?"

Harry was quiet "no…." Cisco stared, his eyebrows quirking down. "yes." Harry conceded finally.

"That's really sweet." Cisco commented and without thinking, leaned across the desk and pecked Harry on the forehead.

Harry blushed bright red and Cisco silently and stiffly went back to his project.

Cisco came into the cortex slowly, hovering at the entrance when he heard Harry talking to Iris.

"I was just wondering … on this earth, if a kiss on the forehead is a friendship thing or like, means something in particular…" Harry was scratching at his earlobe and Iris' eyes lit up

"Who kissed you on the forehead?? Are you shmoozing some pretty lady?" Iris asked

Harry chuckled awkwardly "not exactly."

Iris started to press Harry more.

Cisco loudly bustled into the cortex then, announcing his presence as if he'd just arrived and Iris and Harry pretended to be talking about the meta of the week.

Harry and Cisco were alone in the workshop and Harry had Cisco's playlist on. It was starting to get late and they were struggling to make a break through with their latest meta.

"Love this song," Cisco closed his eyes and leaned back and Harry hovered, standing near Cisco, resisting the urge to reach out and touch.

Isn't she lovely played and Cisco hummed the familiar tune. Harry chuckled but couldn't take his eyes off Cisco when he sang along or hummed along like so.

"Noticed you like this one," Harry replied. "had to add it to your mix,"

Cisco turned to look at Harry, full focus.

"What?" Harry asked

"My mix," Cisco echoed Harry's words, "on this earth it's quite a…" Cisco looked up, narrowing his eyes at the older man who made such confusing, caring gestures. "Maybe an intimate thing, to make someone a mix of music… is it like that on your earth?" Cisco asked

Harry avoided eye contact and scoffed a moment. He took a long breath then looked back to Cisco. "On my earth it's quite intimate to kiss others on the forehead. Is it like that here?" Harry asked, tongue in cheek

Cisco sucked in air at the corners of his mouth. "touche,"

Harry stood closer to Cisco and Cisco stood suddenly. He wasn't quite face to face with Harry after their height difference but they stood chest to chest.

"Guess you could say we have an intimate relationship," Cisco muttered

"Yeah, I guess you could say that," Harry agreed

"Listen Harry-"

Harry was closing the distance then, kissing Cisco and then Cisco couldn't hear the music he was only listening to Harry's breathing and the sound of their kissing and Harry's hands finding their way into Cisco's curls.

"I'll make you more playlists," Harry said, breathlessly, when they parted for air.

Cisco laughed a full happy belly laugh and Harry broke into a grin. He leaned up and kissed Cisco again and pulled back to smile at him. Cisco leaned forward then and pecked Harry back.

"I'd love that,"

The Epilogue is up and that's a wrap.

In which Harry starts treatments to promote further healing his brain, Cisco reaffirms that he'll always be around when his friends on Earth-1 need him, and the Wells-Ramon household settles in for a comfy afternoon together. And also Harry and Cisco are cute together.

Chapter Four is up, leaving just an epilogue left to go.

In which Cisco and Harry try to act like adults (with varying levels of success), Harry finally admits he wants to look into potential treatments to help him relearn at least some of his lost science/math skills, and the big damn kiss finally happens. (Also Harry finally calls out Jesse on dating Allegra because sneaky his speedster daughter is not.)
