Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc. Episode 8 "The Hashira Unite" /
Amane Ubuyashiki “Hino hikari o kokufuku-shita oniga arawareta ijo, Kibutsuji Muzan wa meno-iro-o kaete, soreo neratte-kurudesho. Onoremo taiyo-o kokufuku-suru tameni. Daikibo na soryoku-sen ga chikazuite-imasu.”
Amane Ubuyashiki “Now that a demon who’s conquered sunlight has appeared… It’s a given that Muzan Kibutsuji will make a frenzied attempt to come after her. So that he, too, can conquer the sun.
Kagaya Ubuyashiki “Hajimemashite-dane…Kibutsuji…Muzan…”
Kagaya Ubuyashiki “Nice to meet you, I should say… Muzan…Kibutsuji.”
Muzan Kibutsuji “Nantomo shuakuna sugata-dana. Ubuyashiki.”
Muzan Kibutsuji “You’re…certainly looking hideous… Ubuyashiki.”
Kagaya “Tsui-ni…Watashino…motoe kita… Ima…menomae-ni…Kibutsuji…Muzan… Waga ichizoku ga… Kisatsutai ga…sen-nen…oitsuzuketa…oni… Amane… Kare wa… dono-yona… sugata-katachi o…shite-iru?”
Kagaya “At last…you’ve made your way to me. At this moment…you’re right before my eyes… Muzan…Kibutsuji. The demon that my family…the Demon Slayer Corps…has been pursuing for the last…thousand years. Amane… What kind of…shape and form…has he assumed?”
Amane “Nijudai-nakaba kara kohan atari-no danseini miemasu. Tadashi hitomi wa kobai-syoku, soshite doko ga neko no yoni tatenaga desu.”
Amane “He appears to be a young man in his early-to-late twenties. However…his eyes are a light pink color… and his pupils are vertical slits like a cat’s.”
Kagaya “Soka So… Kimi wa kuru to omotteita… kanarazu… Kimi wa watashini… Ubuyashiki ichizoku ni hidoku hara o tateteita-darokara… watashi dake wa… kimiga…kimi-jishinga koroshini kuru to… omotteita…”
Kagaya “Is that right? Right. I knew that…you’d be coming. Without fail. Because I’m sure that… you’ve been quite livid with me…with the Ubuyashiki Family. I always expected you…to come personally for me alone…to kill me yourself.”
Muzan “Watashi wa shinsoko kyozame shitayo, Ubuyashiki. Minohodo mo wakimaezu, sen-nen-nimo watari, watashino jama bakari shitekita ichizoku no osa ga, konoyona zamade. Minikui. Nantomo minikui. Omae-kara wa sudeni shikabane no nioi ga suruzo, Ubuyashiki yo.”
Muzan “I’m feeling utterly disenchanted, Ubuyashiki. To see the head of the clan that for a thousand years… had the gall to constantly thwart me… in such a deplorable state. Hideous. So very hideous. Your body is already giving off the scent of a corpse, Ubuyashiki.”
Kagaya “So daro-ne… Watashi wa… han-toshi-mo mae niwa… isha kara su-jitsu de shinuto iwarete-ita… Soredemo mada…watashi wa ikiteiru… Isya mo…kotoba o…ushinatte-ita… Soremo hitoeni…kimi o taoshitaito iu isshin yue da… Muzan…”
Kagaya “I’m sure that it does. Six months ago… I was…told by my doctor that I would be dead in a few days. And yet, here I am…still alive. Even my doctor…was left…speechless. And it’s all thanks to…my single-minded desire to defeat you… Muzan.”
Muzan “Sono hakanai yume mo koyoi tsuieta na. Omae wa korekara watashi ga korosu.”
Muzan “That feeling dream of yours is about to be shattered tonight. I’m going to kill you now.”
Kagaya “Kimi wa…shiranai kamo shirenai ga… kimito watashi wa… onaji chisuji nandayo… Kimi ga umaretanowa…sen-nen-ijo-maeno koto darokara…watashi to kimino chi wa, mo…chikakunai keredo…”
Kagaya “You…may not know this… but you and I…hail from the same bloodline. Although since you were likely born more than a thousand years ago… our blood is no longer thick.”
Muzan “Nanno kanjo mo wakanaina. omae wa naniga iitainoda?”
Muzan “That does nothing for me emotionally. What is it that you’re trying to say?”
Kagaya “Kimino-yona kaibutsu o…ichizoku kara dashite-shimatta seide… watashino ichizoku wa… norowarete ita…”
Kagaya My clan has been cursed… because the family… produced a monster…like you.
Kagaya “Umarete kuru kodomo-tachi wa mina, byojakude suguni shinde-shimau. Ichizoku ga iyo-iyo taekaketa-toki, kannushi kara jogen o uketa. ‘Onaji chisujikara oniga deteiru… Sonomono o taosu-tameni shinketsu o sosogi-nasai… Sosureba ichizoku wa taenai.’ Daidai shinsyokuno ichizoku kara tsuma o morai… kodomomo shinizuraku-nattaga… soredemo waga ichizokuno daremo… sanju-nen to ikirarenai…”
Kagaya “Our children were all born sickly and weak… and they would die soon after. My family was on the verge of being wiped out… when we received a priest’s advice. ‘A demon has emerged from your bloodline. Commit yourselves… to killing that demon. If you do so, your clan will survive.’ Through the ages, we have married the daughters of priests… and though this has made our children less prone to death, still… no one in our family…has lived past the age of 30.”
Muzan “Meigenmo kokoni kiwamareri dana. Hedoga deru. Omaeno yamai wa, atamanimade mawarunoka? Sonna kotogara niwa nanno ingakankei mo nashi. Nazenara…watashiniwa nanno tembatsu mo kudatte-inai. Nanbyaku-nanzento iu ningen o koroshitemo, watashi wa yurusarete-iru. Kono sen-nen, kamimo hotokemo mitakotoga nai.”
Muzan “Your drivel has now reached its peak. I’m about to gag. Has your disease spread to your brain now? Your story is completely irrelevant. And why? Because I’ve received no divine punishment whatsoever. Even though I’ve killed hundreds… thousands of humans… I have never been held accountable. Over the last thousand years, I’ve never seen the gods or Budda.
Kagaya “Kimi wa… sono-yoni mono o kangaerundane… Daga watashiniwa watashino…kangaekata ga aru… Muzan… Kimi-no yume wa nandai? Kono sen-nen-kan… kimi wa ittai donna yume o mite-irunokana…”
Kagaya “So… that’s how you look at it, is it? But I have… my own… way of thinking. Muzan… What is your dream? What have you been… dreaming about… for the last thousand years?”
Muzan (Kimyona kankaku da… Arehodo mezawari-datta Kisatsutai no genkyo o menomae ni shite, nikushimi ga wakanai. Mushiro…)
Muzan (What an odd feeling. Here he is, right before me, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corps, always such an eyesore… yet there’s no hatred brimming in me. Actually…)
Hakuhatsu-tachi “♪Hitotsutoya, ichiya akureba nigiyakade nigiyakade, okazari tatetari matsukazari matsukazari, Futatsutoya, Futaba no matsu wa iro yote iro yote… Sangai-matsu wa Kazusa-yama Kazusa-yama…”
White hair kids “♪One is for one night ending… Lively… Merry… Raise decorations… Pine decorations… Pine decorations… Two is for two pine sprouts… Good color… Good color… Three layers of pine… Mount Kazusa… Mount Kazusa… ”
Muzan (Kono kimyo na natsukashisa, andokan…, kishoku ga warui. Soshite, kono yashiki niwa yonin-shika ningen ga inai. Ubuyashiki to tsuma, kodomo-futari dake. Goei mo nanimo nai…)
Muzan (This odd sense of familiarity… and relief… It’s revolting. And there are only four humans in this mansion. Ubuyashiki and his wife… and two children. That’s all. No bodyguards whatsoever.)
Kagaya “Ateyoka… Muzan. Kimino kokoroga, watashi niwa wakaruyo. Kimi wa eien o yumemiteiru… Fumetsu o… yumemiteiru…”
Kagaya “Why don’t I guess, Muzan? I can tell… what’s on your mind, you know. You’re dreaming of eternity. Immortality… is what you dream of.”
Muzan “Sono tori da. Soshite sore wa mamonaku kanau. Nezuko o teni iresae-sureba.”
Muzan “Exactly. And that dream will soon come true. As soon as I get my hands on Nezuko.”
Kagaya “Kimi-no yume wa kanawanai yo, Muzan.”
Kagaya “Your dream’s not coming true… Muzan.”
Muzan “Nezuko no kakushi-basyo ni zuibunto jishinga aru yodana. Shikashi, omae to chigai, watashi-niwa tappurito jikanga aru.”
Muzan “You seem quite confident about where you’ve hidden Nezuko. But unlike you… I have all the time in the world.”
Kagaya “Kimi wa… omoi-chigai o shiteiru.”
Kagaya “You… have it all wrong.”
Muzan “Nandato?”
Muzan “What did you say?”
Kagaya “Watashi wa, eien ga nanika… shitteiru. Eien to iu-nowa… hitono omoi da. Hitono omoi-kosoga eiende ari, fumetsu nandayo.”
Kagaya “I… happen to know… what eternity is. Eternity is… the human will. The human will lasts for all eternity… and it’s immortal.”
Muzan “Kudaranu… Omae-no hanashi-niwa hekieki suru.”
Muzan “Such rubbish. Your words make my stomach turn.”
Sono jijitsu wa, ima, kimiga kudaranai to itta, hitono omoi ga fumetsu de-arukoto o shomei-shiteiru.”
Kagaya “Over the last thousand years… the Demon Slayer Corps has never been eradicated. So many of my poor children have perished… And yet… it still exists. The fact that it remains… proves that the human will… what you just brushed off as rubbish… is immortal.”
Kagaya “Taisetsuna hitono inochi o rifujin-ni ubatta mono o yurusanai to iu omoi wa… eien da. Kimi wa darenimo yurusarete-inai. Kono sen-nen-kan, ichido mo… Soshite, kimi wane, Muzan… Nandomo nandomo torano o o fumi, ryu no gekirin ni fureteiru. Honrai-naraba issho nemutteita-hazuno tora ya ryu o, kimi wa okoshita. Karera wa zutto, kimi o nirande-iruyo. Zettaini nogasumai to.”
Kagaya “Refusing to forgive those… who have senselessly taken the lives… of their loved ones… That feeling… is eternal. No one… has forgiven you. Not once… in the last thousand years. And you know what, Muzan? Time and time again… you’ve stepped on the tiger’s tail… and incurred the wrath of the dragon… Normally… they would’ve remained asleep for all time… but you’ve awakened… that tiger and dragon. They’ve had their glare… fixed on you all this time… vowing to never let you escape.”
Kagaya “Watashi o koroshita-tokorode, Kisatsutai wa itakumo kayukumo nai. Watashi-jishin wa, sore-hodo juyo ja-nainda. Kono… hito no omoi to tsunagari ga, kimi niwa rikaidekinai-darone, Muzan. Naze-nara kimi wa… kimi-tachi wa, kimi-ga shineba subete-no oni ga horobundaro?”
Kagaya “Even if you were to kill me… it wouldn’t make any difference at all to the Demon Slayer Corps. I myself… am not that important. These… human feelings and bonds… are not… things that you’d understand… Muzan. And that’s because you… you and your kind… if you die… all demons will be wiped off the face of the earth, right?”
Kagaya “Kuki ga yuraida ne… Atari kana?”
Kagaya “I just felt a change in the air. Did I guess right?”
Muzan “Damare.”
Muzan “Shut up.”
Kagaya “Un, mo iiyo. Zutto kimini iitakatta-koto wa ieta. Saigo-ni… hitotsudake iikai? Watashi-jishin wa sorehodo juyo dewa nai to ittaga… watashino shi ga muimi na wakedewa nai. Watashi wa koun-na-kotoni, Kisatsutai… tokuni Hashira no kotachi kara shitatte-moratte-iru. Tsumari watashi ga shineba, imamade ijo ni Kisatsutai no shiki ga agaru…”
Kagaya “Right. That’s enough. I got to say what I’ve always wanted to say to you. Would you mind… if I said one last thing? I just told you… that I myself am not that important… but it’s not as if my death will be for nothing. I am… fortunate enough to be loved by the Demon Slayer Corps… particularly… by the Hashira. In other words… if I die… it will fuel the Demon Slayers’ motivation even more than before.”
Muzan “Hanashi wa owari dana?”
Muzan “Are you done talking?”
Kagaya “Aa… Konnani hanashi o kiitekureru towa omowanakattana… Arigato, Muzan.”
Kagaya “Yes. I never thought you’d listen to what I had to say for so long. Thank you… Muzan.”

Joso Senhime Festival by Ibarakai Sightseeing
A festival to commemorate the granddaughter of Tokugawa Ieyasu, Princess Sen. She was married to Toyotomi Hideyori, the son of Hideyoshi, the Taiko. She survived the Siege of Osaka after her husband, Hideyori and his mother, Yodo-dono or Chacha committed Hara-Kiri to avoid surrender and capture by the Tokugawa.
Legend has it that Yukimura Sanada who served Hideyori, brought her out to safety during the siege before his death, as depicted in the period drama, Tenchijin. There are many legends surrounding her life and she has often been portrayed in  TV dramas, plays, and novels. A tale with all the romantic ingredients that made Sen-hime, one of the most popular characters, about beauty, heroism and tragedy.

Prompt #2 Bark
youtube
An old tradition for budding young Gridanian conjurers was to ask the Elementals for their first cane. Firstly starting with a branch collected at the express consent from the chosen tree and then whittled carefully by hand. It built character, connection to one's tools, it was a rite of passage.
However, with every generation of conjurers there would be a select few who simply bit of more than they could chew.
One such plucky youth prayed before her chosen tree, a deeply rooted Redwood loomed above. It's lowest branches far higher than a seasoned botanist would consider worth the time to collect. Importantly it watched over her family's new home. At it's base was wrapped lovingly with red and white string, a small golden bell knotted in a bow, along with a wooden plate carved with a prayer in Doman. The bell chimed quietly, and the plate clacked with every brush of the breeze.
Sen one such plucky youth, with only 9 summers to her name - occasionally blowing long gingery bangs from her face. Wrapped in a dark green robe. Autumn leaves piled not far from where she was. She had knelt there for three quarters of a bell and was interrupted by the sneaking arrival of her friend, Dolyea Dahkra the dark faced mooncatte with deep crimson eyes and her expert tickling hands...!
A squeal from Sen and delighted cackle from Dolyea broke the peace, both collapsing in a fit of giggles.
After catching her breath, Sen playfully pushed Dolyea, "You scared me! I was right in the middle of praying-"
"You're always so busy praying now, studying and praying, praying and studying." Dolyea complained, "I hardly see you anymore."
Sen patted the air at Dolyea, "I know, I know. Old knifeear's doesn't give me any free time, ever!"
Dolyea sulkily picked under her nail with her fang, she looked up at the tree. "What're you praying to this tree for anyway?"
Sen brightened, then pointed, "I'm gonna get that branch for my cane." Both the girls craned their necks up, Sen sheltered her eyes from the sun with a hand grinning.
Dolyea frowned deeply, "Uh. That's pretty high up." Looking back down at Sen.
"Yeah!"
"You're not that great of a climber and even I wouldn't try that without help from my one of my sisters."
Confidently tapping her temple, Sen went to the other side of the tree proudly holding up some adult sized tree climbing gear. Boots with some jury rigged spikes were there too. "I got that covered, only an idiot would try to climb this without proper equipment. I begged Uncle Hara to let me borrow his gear for the afternoon to 'study it.'"
"I thought the old lizard threw out his back from working for the botanists."
"He did." She blinked at Dolyea, they stared at each other.
"Seeennn..." Dolyea drew out, "C'mon this is dumb, you can easily climb another tree to get a branch instead of this giant."
"No see, that's exactly why." Sen held up her finger, "No other kid is going to have a redwood cane like me, I've only seen a few adults with one. Do you know how jealous the other apprentices will be when they see me whittling that branch? Besides..." She fanned out her hand, "This tree has been watching out for my family, even if the climb is dangerous I'll be fine."
They stared at each other once more, the wind blew again rustling some leaves in place of crickets. Dolyea's concern phased out for frustration.
"What're you gonna do when you're so high up and can't get back down?" Dolyea challenged, fists on her hips - her tail whipping about behind her, "Or if you get stuck?" She threw up her hands, "Who cares what those other conjurer snobs think, you're already in the club!"
Sen puffed up her chest, cheeks burning, a big stomp on the ground, "You know it's not enough to just be there!" She was digging in.
Dolyea's ears perked with surprise then lowered sheepishly, usually it wasn't this hard to convince Sen to do anything. Had they really been spending that much time apart...?
Sen deflated then scooped her friend's hands, a sudden shift to worry - had she gone too far?
"Sorry! Sorry I didn't mean to yell, please don't be mad."
Dolyea huffed, decidedly, "The second you slip, or or- fall-" She stopped then squinted, levelling the threat solemnly. "I'm calling for your mom."
"Deal." She let go and stuck out her hand. They did a quick version of their 'secret' handshake.
With a little help Sen had strapped the gear onto her tiny waist, with they knotted the leather straps twice over so it fit snug on her body. Sen came prepared with a length of rope, a toothy saw, and a small leather water skin. The leather creaked against the knots, but it all felt as secure as it was going to get.
Dolyea did a quick double check, grimacing. "Don't die, please."
"I'll be fine, you'll see!" Confidence abound, Sen started the laborious climb up the tree. Two hands on the strap hugging the tree, toes spikes digging into the bark of the redwood as she climbed.
Meanwhile the keeper paced below watching, quietly praying.
Sen kept her eyes on the prize, her palms were sweaty, she leaned heavily in the belt wiping her brow with her sleeve frequently. Importantly, she didn't look down.
When she finally made it to the branch, she took a good break sipping generously from her waterskin. Peeking over her shoulder to look below, nearly losing all her nerve seeing how far up she was now. A shiver, a quick hug to the tree, a shaky prayer. The branch she came for was only ilms away.
Firstly she pulled the rope off, throwing it up a little further to another branch much thicker, and with a few tests for weight she looped the rope through her belt. Escape secured.
Carefully pulling the saw from her belt, she steadied herself to start the work. Spitting away the odd shavings of wood, shaking her head, rubbing her sweaty forehead into the crook of her elbow. Unbeknownst to her, leather slipped slowly with each pass over the branch she made.
Nearing the final passes, her hands shook with exertion, and... with a terrible snap of leather the belt that she was leaning so heavily into slipped up into her armpit throwing her off her spiked toe balance. She dropped the saw, panicked, swinging wildly - she saw the ground, the sky, her feet were far from the tree the rope carrying her far too quickly back to the ground. Screeching with terror, Dolyea screamed below with her arms open scrambling left and right trying to catch the falling lizard.
And she did, just with her whole body.
The girls wailed for help from where they laid, sobbing loudly. Mrs Urabe came first, with such speed only a mother could move at the sound of her baby's cries. Concerned neighbours appeared not long after to help. Inside they called Madame Dubois to patch up the sorry pair.
A little while later...
After crying out the story, sniffling the details, Sen and Dolyea received the scolding of a lifetime from their respective parents while Madame Dubois aetherically melded broken arms back in place, piecing together ribs. The elezen conjurer assuring Sen's parents this stunt was not in the lesson plan.
Satisfied, Madame Dubois brought her protégé back outside to the tree. Dusk settled over the woods. Sen hung her head, arm in a cotton sling. They stood for a few moments of silence before the elezen took a deep breath in and sighed.
"If you ever pull a stunt like this again, and survive you will no longer be apprenticed." Her back was to Sen, then she turned, "Is that clear?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"All this trouble and for what?" She asked, her tone calm but pointed, "You aren't going to prove anything to anybody if you're dead, Sen."
Sen swallowed, her head was bowed, "Yes, ma'am."
"Did you complete the prayers? You could have risked greenwrath-"
SNAP! THUNK!
Startled, the pair jumped at the branch landing in a pile of leaves. The wind blew at the back of Sen's heels, the chime of the tiny bell. Wide eyed she stared at the pile, moments away from a grin.
Madame Dubois stared as well, but she was reading the signs. Her eyes fluttered up in an exasperated eye roll, rubbing her temple with one hand. She looked down to find Sen pleadingly looking for permission.
"Fine! Fine."
Sen shot for the branch, scooping it up awkwardly in one arm, saying many thank you's to her mentor, to the tree, to the Elementals. The redwood leaned with the same breeze, leaves rustling contentedly.

The YASHA CD Drama, Stage 1; A Long-Awaited Arrival To Our Arsenal
The first thing my beloved collaborator, @toichinagae, told me about when they reached out to me was the existence of the YASHA CD drama. I was very intrigued, as I'd never heard of it before. I knew of the TV drama, in fact I'd archived it a month or so beforehand, but I never knew that there was a CD drama that not only followed the manga more closely, but also featured some anime voice actors that I NEVER would've expected to work on it!
There are two CDs, this post will be focusing on the first one, referred to as "Stage One." This CD was released on March 24th, 2000, and produced by Pioneer LDC(Currently known as NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan.). This drama's screenplay was written by Asami Watanabe(I could not find any information about them online, it seems there is a key animator by the same name, I am unsure as to if they are the same person.), with music by Nobuo Ito.(Once more, there is very little information about them online.)
The cast list, as sent to me by @toichinagae via email, is as follows(I added some notes on notable characters each voice actor has played, just because I find it interesting.):
Arisue Sei: Hideo Ishikawa(You may know him from Doukyuusei, where he played Hara-sen.) Hisako Arisue: Kikuko Inoue(You may know her from Kiki's Delivery Service, wherein she played Maki.) Kyoichiro Amamiya: Kiyoyuki Yanada(You may know him from Perfect Blue, wherein he played Kantoku Nagae Moichi: Matsumoto Yasunori(You may know him from Sk8 the Infinity, wherein he played Joe.) Toichi Nagae: Kenji Nojima(You may know him from Banana Fish, he voiced Eiji.) Takeru Mikami: Takehito Koyasu(You probably know him from somewhere, I personally know him from Jojo's Bizzare Adventure as DIO, and Adam from Sk8 the Infinity.) Ken Kurosaki: Toru Furusawa(You may know him from the '98 Trigun anime, wherein he played Millions Knives.) Major Hodges: Hiroshi Naka(You may know him from Cowboy Bebop, where he plays Jobim.) Yasuyuki Ito: Nobuo Tobita (Unclear on who exactly this character is. This va was in Darling In The Franxx, but I don't think he had a notable role there.) Sei Arisue (12 years old): Miho Yamada(..She seems to have done work for a number of projects that are not appropriate for this blog. More power to her.) (*Note Toichi's voice at 12 years old is currently unknown.)
These CDs are currently untranslated, but you can find the .wav files for both in this drive folder.
I intend on creating youtube uploads for each track, for ease of use to potential translators and general accessibility for people who's devices cannot run .wav's(..if any exist lol.)
More to come soon!!

Name: Hikari Yuki Hara
Affinity: Ice Release (kekkei genkai), Water Release, Wind Release
Affiliation: Kirigakure (Village Hidden in the Mist)
Hikari was born in the Mist Village during a time where those with Kekkei Genkai were still looked down upon. Her mother was a traditional dance artist after retiring from a life as a kunoichi, while her father worked as a high ranking hunter-nin, tracking down many of the village's missing-nins and carrying out assassinations.
Their family kept their clan lineage a secret, masquerading with a differing last name to protect themselves. Hikari's mother, Ayako, forbade Hikari from becoming a kunoichi herself, trying to goad her daughter into following her footsteps. Ayako had always kept her ice release under wraps, only utilizing her wind and water releases. Hikari wasn't keen on following Ayako's wishes, however.
When Hikari was only 6, her father was killed in action during an assassination attempt on one of the village's defectors. This only ramped up Ayako's controlling further. Hikari had to practically sneak off as far as enrolling in schooling went.
The training at Kirigakure's Academy was much more brutal and thorough than the other schools seen in other villages. When Hikari touched chakra paper for the first time, it did not damper nor slice in half. It froze solid, and she became an immediate target.
Ayako was livid when she learned of her daughter's antics, though a deal was struck between her and the Mizukage of the village. Hikari happened to be a perfect vessel for harboring a shinigami. In exchange for immunity, Ayako gave Hikari away.
Hikari was still young, no older than 8, but her body was able to withstand the sealing process. They sealed a fearsome shinigami known as Giratina within her, preventing the demon from wrecking further havoc in the world, and thus gaining a new piece of power for their village as well.
They fortunately allowed Hikari to return to the academy, resuming her brutal training. She excelled in ninjutsu, along with kenjutsu - a common, more advanced technique taught in their academy compared to the other academies in the other villages. She refrained from using her ice release around others, taking to doing so in private.
Hikari's relationship with her mother was effectively destroyed after she gave up her daughter. She was infrequently home, avoiding the place as much as possible. Ayako was still furious at her daughter's enrollment in the academy.
For Hikari's age, she became a prodigy at Kirigakure's school. Her ninjutsu skills were leaps ahead of everyone else in her class, as was her kenjutsu and chakra control. The shinigami within her, however, wasn't agreeable to Hikari. It was difficult to control Giratina at times, and one such time Hikari lost control was during the academy's chunin exams.
She lost control over herself and wreaked havoc on her opponent in the finals, bloodying them and nearly beating them to death with raw strength alone. It took several jonin to pull her off her foe, restraining her with seals and a formidable barrier. When Hikari came to, she had no recollection or memory of what took place.
The Yuki clan had always been a cursed clan, after all.
The higherups of Kirigakure were quick to cover up the incident, not wanting to have another graduation similar to what they had seen with Zabuza. Those in the stands were put to sleep with a genjutsu, and had their memories of the incident erased and replaced. The student in question also had their memories changed after their recovery. Instead of memories of Hikari beating them nearly to death, they simply had put a memory into them of being knocked out.
After the exams, Hikari was removed from her squad. They feared she would lose control and hurt them, and so she was forced to do her missions solo. With her prowess, it wasn't a big deal, but she missed the camaraderie of her team.
She wasn't kicked out of Kirigakure, though she was intentionally sent on much more difficult missions - be it the fact she could handle them, or they secretly wanted her to be killed in action was unknown at the time. To their surprise, she handled these missions in stride.
In the span of a few years following the exams, she went from a liability to an important asset of the village. There were a few times on A and S-rank missions where she did lose control, as she had in the past. The village turned a blind eye to this, as no witnesses were ever left, and it didn't happen within the confines of Kirigakure. It wasn't their problem.
When Hikari was just 15, she was granted the rank of jonin. They were wary of letting her have her own squadron, however, and continued to have her carry out missions for the village on her own. The missions only grew tougher, causing her to be away from Kirigakure for longer periods of time. This was still fine by her, as she would readily jump at any chance to be away from her mother. Hikari had only seen her a handful of times since she became a chunin, and she was glad for it.
During her missions, she would visit many different villages and meet many different people. Hikari found she enjoyed traveling, feeling free to do what she wanted more or less. It was only when the Akatsuki began cropping up that she realized there may be a problem. Losing control became a much more dangerous idea, not wanting the information of her harboring a shinigami falling into the wrong hands.
At age 17, Hikari was brought into the ranks of Kirigakure's hunter-nin's. The influx of corruption under the Fourth Mizukage was immense, and the village had numerous defectors. She was tasked with assassinations, hunting down defectors as they were a threat to the village's security and held many secrets about Kirigakure.
As it stands currently years later, Hikari is still part of Kirigakure's hunter-nins. Despite the way the village has treated her, she still has a deep loyalty to Kirigakure. She carries out normal missions too, still forced to work alone. She still grapples to keep Giratina under control and to reach a mutual understanding with the demon.
Other Info:
Hikari wears her headband around her right upper arm.
She wields a sword that she often imbues with wind chakra, making it very sharp and deadly. Though the legendary seven swords of the mist have fallen nearly out of Kirigakure's control due to defectors, Hikari has a goal to find and obtain at least one of them for herself. When she isn't on any missions, she travels still in order to seek out these swords.
With Kirigakure's overall view towards those with kekkei genkai improving, Hikari tends to keep her lineage under wraps when in the village. In other villages, she doesn't keep it much of a secret at all.
She hasn't spoken to her mother in many, many years. Hikari has gotten herself a home in Kirigakure that's very far from where Ayako's home is situated.

Tumblr media Tumblr media

Alors l’autodestruction ça me connaît.
Dieu merci.
