Having quality time with the chicks. Y/N needed a break from the reconstruction of the barn and ze noticed the chicks were awake from their nap. During this time, the chicks are starting to move around more and making mimicking sounds. And yes, harpies can purr like kittens...it's canon.
Sundrop and Moondrop gifted Y/N their feathers. None of them know this, but gifting feathers has special meanings within the harpy culture. The chicks just did this on instinct and Y/N just kept it in zir hat. In this case, it a sign of family bond for the parents to wear their chicks feathers. Sort of like keeping your baby's first lock of hair.
Other situation of feather gifting/exchange would happen as a sign of friendship and courtship.
