This boy at the beginning of the game lacked literally any knowledge so I doubt he is aware of the various celebrations people celebrate around the world.

He knows for the most part that Japan celebrates Christamas and Halloween like the America’s even if not to their extent.

So when he sees his s/o fledged out in full green, he was really confused. 

They were sitting in one of the booths in the cafe waiting for him and once he entered the cafe he walked over the booth and sat down across from them.

“So what's with all the green and clovers?” he asked curiously, with an amused smile on his face.

“Ah- no way Akira do you not know? It’s St. Patricks day!” Yet still after that brief explanation, the boy was still rather confused. “Ah yea, I guess I keep forgetting Japan doesn’t have the same celebrations America does.”

Akira would find your mix up rather endearing. Really he finds everything about you endearing. 

As he’s come to learn about you, you tend to celebrate everything and everyone, so coming across you with another party plan or celebration outfit wasn’t a sight uncommon but sometimes it was confusing. 

Today, you took your time explaining how St. Patrick day worked and what you were celebrating. 

“Yea, while a lot of people don’t celebrate it for its historical reasons, its still a day of celebration and cheer for a lot of people! Heck, some people take it as a day for good luck.” You chuckled and as you did, Akira’s eyes lit up.

He took your hand and asked, “Why dont we go out today? Maybe something lucky will happen. If you want we could try to make some Irish food after.. I’ve never really tried before but It would be interesting.”

Akira is always supportive of you and whatever it is you want to do, within reason of course. It is for this reason, the two of you spent your day buying green things and looking for 4 leafed clovers in the park.

Akechi

While Akechi doesn't have his hands deep into international affairs, he does keep a small notice for your sake.

He’s not exactly the type to celebrate many of Japan’s holidays as is, pretty sure he wouldn’t even celebrate his own birthday if not for your interventions.

Your enthusiasm and outgoing personality is definitely something Akechi had to grow to feel comfortable around, and eventually, it was something he loved.

Since he loves you terribly and has a constant need to be the perfect boyfriend for you, he does his best to keep track of all the holidays you spend.

After all, it just means another thing to celebrate, with you. That's all that really matters to him.

He doesn’t exactly get it, he tries, but he doesn’t always understand. But he doesn’t exactly mind you explaining it to him. Again, he just wishes to cherish every moment with you.

It is sometimes alarming, you showing up in full green, and hands filled with all sorts of green objects is definitely something that surprised him. 

He couldn’t even get a word in before you walked into his apartment, setting down the party supplies and getting to work.

He racked his head around trying to remember what day it could be, but he didn't need to since you grabbed his hand, placing a kiss on his cheek and a hat on his head.

“Happy St. Patricks Day Goro!” 

And suddenly, he doesn’t really feel the need for an explanation. He’s just happy to see your smile.

The more and more i convert to Judaism the more and more I realize that christians, and the agnostics and atheists and pagans who still celebrate christmas anyways, genuinely view "happy holidays" as a magic inclusivity wand that makes all other things they do to exclude non-Christians okay

Like. The number of times I've had people say "happy holidays, whatever you celebrate!" To me this week, when Hannukah this year ended over a week ago, is absurd. I get it from people whose supposed job is in equity and inclusion. Same with putting up "holiday decorations" which consist of a Christmas Tree and maybe some traditionally-christmas-colored other stuff. Candy canes and santa hats arent non-denominational, no matter how much you divorce Christmas from Christianity in your own mind, its still his name on the fucking box! Calling them "holiday decorations" doesnt change that either, it genuinely just feels like another form of cultural homogenization to me. You might as well openly say you view Christmas as the default holiday in this season!

And this may seem silly when I'm not even fully converted yet (Hebrew classes are expensive), it still very much annoys me because "happy holidays" isnt even inclusivity. Its the bare minimum. It is simply deciding to admit that other religions exist. You havent done the work to learn what Hannukah is about, let alone that it changes dates year to year because its based off a different calendar, let alone what to say to people celebrating Hannukah. I know what true inclusivity looks like because I've experienced it within certain spaces for trans identities, when you ask peoples pronouns and preferred names; its POSSIBLE, it just takes a bit more effort. And I dont think I've ever seen it towards Jewish folks, or even any of the other dozens of religions outside Christianity! We need to do better!

Happy Wincest Wednesday! 💗What kind of gift(s) do you think Sam and Dean would give each other for things like birthdays or Christmas? (other than sexual favors ofc)

i dont think theyre big on holiday celebrations! a very supernatural christmas makes a point out of how theyve only ever done christmas like twice. I think it also helps to add to their outsider/feel like they cant fit in with humans alienation thing that i love to think about, especially among smalltown devout christian types theyre usually around. i like them being raised to believe that religious holidays are pointless or silly and that theyre somehow better for not celebrating them (but of course they both quietly envy the classic image of the extended family around the dinner table full of food and laughter type thing)

I do think theyd do small things for birthdays though! i think john never did anything for birthdays when they were really young. would make him think of all the milestones mary was missing, so might as well not have any milestones at all. I think dean tried to make sams birthdays special as a kid though, and sam tried to do the same back. birthdays wouldve become days specifically for them to celebrate by themselves.

I dont think they ever really expect much from their birthdays, and with how busy they are with saving lives and hunting down monsters or whatever they would miss out on a lot of them, but if they end up having downtime during sams birthday week dean will be dragging him out to clubs and bars in the middle of nowhere to get him wasted and make him have fun. somewhere where no one knows them and they can get away with a little non-brotherly pda and forget about the fact that they can never have something normal.

i think dean would also insist on going out n having fun with sam during his own birthday weeks, and sam would go because "CMONNNNN its my birthday!" "your birthdays on friday." "same thing!" but hed also try to celebrate deans birthday in a more quiet way, through gifts and acts. And yeah i mean sexy stuff, but also being more affectionate in general, backrubs and massages, splurging on the top shelf stuff, driving them both down to vegas to lose someone elses money in a casino, that type of stuff!

(If you like them ofc) Hes a great cook and picks up quickly.

Brian- also doesn't really care where your from, he loves you either way. Hes the type to ask what your doing if he sees you doing something that may be from your culture. He doesn't like to ask many more questions, but secretly wants to know about your traditions and things that the Japanese do differently compared to where hes from. Hes just shy to ask about it, so if you want to hes willing and ready to learn about where your from.

Toby- hes always excited to learn about his partners. Hes always coming up with new questions for you, and not just about Japan. Hes always very inquisitive, so be prepared/jk. Kate- she's not the type to celebrate big partys, mainly because of the light and noise, but if you guys can do quieter traditions, she would love that. Ej- hes very inquisitive about the culture of Japan and wants to know about the differences between yours and other cultures. He likes to 'people watch' to learn about humans and what they do, since he forgot a lot of what it was like when he was human. He'll try to do stuff with you, holidays and stuff, but he might not always be able to due to his sensitivities to bright lights and sounds. He does like the way it sounds when your speaking, whatever language it may be. He may ask to learn some Japanese though. You tried to tell him it wasn’t just that, but he shut you up with some kisses

“It’s Christmas!” 

You threw open the doors to the throne room and danced into it, a huge smile on your lips and your arms full of decor. Thranduil sat on his throne just as he always did, but you barely took notice of him and his raised eyebrows as you hummed and hung up the first of your Christmas lights at the front of the room. It was Christmas eve, the 24th, and you had waited the whole past 23 days to decorate, even though your presents had been done by the end of November already. It was freezing outside, and you much preferred the summer weather, though you loved the snow as much, but the throne room was warm and cosy despite. You didn’t know if it was elven magic or a hidden fireplace or something other, but you didn’t bothered to think about it, happy that you could wear both hoodie or shirt inside and did not sweat nor shiver. The tune you hummed was a memorable one you’d picked up, whose lyrics you’d forgotten but with a melody you had sung over and over again even during the summer. 

The elven king soon strolled over to where you were now trying to put up baubles in red and gold and green. He was silent, but he smiled, not at the decor or the lights, but at you, so caught up in your work, grinning all over, singing and swaying and as happy as he barely ever remembered you being. You put up the last green one, turned around to him and dumped the rest of what you had held in your arms into his, then rose up to your toes and placed a kiss on his nose. 

“Merry Christmas, love!”, you said cheerfully. 

Thranduil chuckled. It wasn’t new to hear him do so, but... it surprised you every time regardless. That he was so open with you should be normal, but it was not, for whatever reason. He was about to answer when you grabbed his cheeks and pulled him down for an actual kiss, just because. Because you were happy and because it was Christmas, because you loved him and just because you could. Because he was yours to kiss. 

You left him no time to react though, pulling away quickly again and whisking around, humming a new tune and twirling through the hall. Your hair danced with you, falling over your shoulders and into your face as you did a pirouette and another one. You’d left it open - you did, sometimes, though mostly you put it up. 

“Tell me”, he said as he strolled after you, smiling and carrying the Christmas decor without a word about it. He was used to your behaviour, and why would he complain, anyway? “What exactly is this Christmas of yours?” 

You stopped in the middle of your little dance to look at him. He was still wearing his robes, which you’d more than once tumbled and tripped over, but once he opened your present, he’d be dressed in the same Christmas hoodie you were dressed in, red and fluffy and soft and with a Christmas tree on it, and baubles that changed colour, a little bit of magic you’d asked Gandalf for. “It’s a wonderful holiday!”, you declared, throwing your arms up into the air and spinning once more. “You put up lights everywhere and give presents to everyone and drink hot chocolate and listen to Christmas music and get a Christmas tree that you decorate with baubles and stars and you eat sweets and bake biscuits and pies and spend three whole days with the people you love! The humans celebrate it every year, and now we do too!” 

You knew that because of your travels. It was a whole other story to tell, but one that led to this very point. Until the beginning of this year you had left the throne next to Thranduil’s empty and Mirkwood without one of their rulers, to explore the world and visit places and find your happiness again. There’d been a time which you did not like to recall - one that had locked you in your room after an injury that had bound you to the bed for over half a year already. Your people hadn’t seen their ruler for years back then, first because of the injury and then the following time in which your mind was black and the world around you so dark that all you had felt were dread and anger and sadness. Even your Beloved had not had the power to help you - three years had you been stuck like that, eating only when you needed to, shut off from all contact. 

And then Thranduil had sent you away. For your own good. He’d travelled with you at first. But as you had begun to get better... it had become apparent that Mirkwood needed one of their rulers back in the least. So he’d gone, and you’d travelled further, through lands and mountains and seas and skies, and you’d met human and elf and dwarf all the same, had got to know people you never would have thought you would, learnt and studied cultures and languages, and in the blink of an eye two decades had been over. Two decades that Thranduil had heard from you only in letters and reports from others, two decades that you had needed to find yourself again and he’d felt as if he’d lost you. 

It had been a surprise, a shock, when you’d returned at the beginning of this year. The whole kingdom had celebrated - for weeks and months, and still your lover reached for your hand every night and every morning to make sure it was not all a dream. 

You had changed, of course. In the time you’d been away - changed not only back to feeling well, but changed, changed so much that it had taken its time for Thranduil to get to know you again. Get to know the new you, the you that had so much more in common with the young elf whose feet had caught in his robes and who’d landed right atop him as both of you fell because of it. And though he felt he now loved a person wholly and completely different to the one he’d sent away on an adventure, he could not find himself regretting it - not when you always had a smile on your face now and kissed him like you had done that very first time. 

“Christmas sounds lovely”, he agreed. “We’ll make it our own holiday if you wish for it to be.”

Because whatever you wished for, he would make reality. And both of you knew that he did not only mean Christmas.

i dont know how i missed the whole "sirenes are second class citizens in aquaria" thing. on that note, would you mind expanding on how sirenes live within the aquarian alliance? aside from being the common footsoldiers and such

This is one of those "open secrets" in the Aquarian Alliance. On paper, all species have equal rights, even Terrian species. But in practice...yeah, not so much.

It's pretty clear that cecaelia have the most power and wealth in this nation. Sirenes make up the vast majority of the Alliance's population, yet they tend to hold lower places in society.

This is all by design. Sovereign is a cecaelian-supremacist who wishes the whole world resembled his native ethnostate of Tekee. That time and culture are long gone, but he is not ready to let it go. He sees the sirenes as useful tools to accomplish his goals, so he's willing to meet them half-way on things here and there.

But if Sovereign does achieve world domination, you can bet he'll betray the sirenes fast and probably enslave them. Most likely, all other species will be made into slave classes to serve cecaelia. In Sovereign's mind, that's the ideal world. He sees cecaelia as victims, not as aggressors, and believes that his species deserves to rule over others because only they are intelligent and capable enough to do so.

So, in this culture, you have a leader who believes his species is objectively superior to all others. As you can imagine, he only appoints other cecaelia to important roles in his government. Those cecaelia appoint other cecaelia under them, and so on, which leaves sirenes and other species to work in the ditches with no power or influence over anything. It's basically species-based nepotism.

How exactly sirenes live under Alliance rule is dictated by their culture. The Alliance's territory encompasses almost the entire sea, so you have thousands of different cultures operating under its rule. They are forced to serve the Sovereign, but they still cling to their own beliefs and ways of life in any way they can. They're allowed to do pretty much whatever they want, as long as it doesn't conflict with Sovereign's goals. He lets them practice their religions, celebrate their holidays, eat their traditional cuisine, and so on. But in return, they must pay taxes to his regime, obey his nation's laws, and show up to fight if they're drafted.

Some of these territories have higher numbers of sirenes than others. Some have no cecaelia in them at all, so you'll find areas where sirenes have more opportunities to rise into more powerful positions like government leaders and military captains.

Sovereign's regime is slowly trying to phase that out by moving cecaelian populations around like chess pieces, forcing them into strategic locations to take power away from sirenes. It's very insidious and no one is happy with it. The native sirenes hate it because it strips them of their culture and robs them of opportunities, and the cecaelian immigrants hate it because they're being forced to move somewhere they don't necessarily want to be.

Naturally this creates a lot of conflict between sirenes and cecaelia, which is exactly what Sovereign wants. If they're busy fighting with eachother, then they're too distracted to point fingers at him.

There's a lot of strategic, artificial conflict in the Aquarian Alliance. It can really suck to be a sirene here or it can be okay, depending on your location. Personally, if I was a sirene, I would much rather live in a place like Matuzu Kingdom, Mogdir Kingdom, or even the Seelie and Unseelie Courts.

Hell, even life Lamai Nation would be preferable to an Alliance territory imo. There is still some level of systemic oppression against sirenes there, but at least the Lamaish government doesn't gaslight its citizens about it like the Alliance does.

Dating THE Hansol Vernon Chwe is literally having the man of your dreams (not that other Seventeen members wouldn't be able to compare) but if Mingyu got the crown for husband material, Vernon has the crown for being the most boyfriend material in seventeen

he is literally the best match for someone who has an issue with their self esteem because Vernon is the king when it comes to self love. He is someone who could influence you in hugging your own uniqueness

Vernon is someone whom your parents would approved of (i mean look at the face though) because the way he acts and treats you is so respectful they knew you found a good man at heart

Vernon would never be angry at you. Like in my opinion, I feel like Vernon is someone who rarely gets angry at all. He's like that guy who lets everything pass by very easily.

But dont expect Vernon to stay in a toxic relationship though, I am very certain that Vernon is that kind of person who is not afraid to speak his mind so if he thinks that something would bring negativity in his life, he would cut it off without a doubt.

Vernon is very sweet and attentive but he is not an affectionate person

Also not the type of person who would initiate physical affection but someone who would never say no for it

Talking to Vernon about his world view is really entertaining because everytime you guys do it, it will end up with you gaining new insights about everything

Vernon is also the type of guy who doesn't care about what the public would say about his relationship

so if for example (one of the) members doesn't like you, the fans/company does not approve of your relationship, Vernon wouldn't be carried by the tide and would continue swimming the current.

But if his family is the one who is against your relationship, that's really a different matter.

Vernon is a hardworking person but unlike Woozi who's life literally revolves around his career, I think Vernon is someone who knows how to balance his work-life cycle.

Kinda passive aggressive to be honest so if you're the same and/or has a problem with this kind of attitude, relationship might become bumpy.

Love language includes time and affirmation

But just like Mingyu, Vernon does not scream I love you to your face everyday, but more like you did well you're amazing, I miss you, you look beautiful today, etc. etc.

Really chill. I know this is so cliche but posts that claims Vernon as a chill person are all correct. He is that kind of boyfriend who really lives riding the waves, so whatever your heart desire, he would support and be part of it.

If you know how Vernon treats his mom and his sister, expect that he would treat you the same, sometimes even more.

Vernon is also that kind of guy you could talk to very easily even on the first day. He knows how to make someone very comfortable without actually trying too hard.

Really performs his boyfriend duties very well lmao he would never miss texting you good morning, have you eaten already, good night everyday :)

Vernon is someone who appreciates beauty inside. He really doesn't care of whatever you look as long as you are nice and kind.

I feel like Vernon's ideal type is someone who really vibes with him. You know, has the same taste in music, same taste in movies, same wavelength of sense of humor, same fashion sense, etc.

If you two had a fight, Vernon isn't that kind of guy who would want to fix the problem immediately.

He is the type of guy who would want to sleep it off first, or to get some fresh air, to make sure the two of you has already calmed down

No he won't address a problem with his emotions still keeping him under control
