This post contains end game spoilers for Persona 5 Royal.
 1.  My favourites are: Makoto's awakening, when the Phantom Thieves go to the beach, the traitor reveal and when they celebrate Christmas together.
My least favourite moments are: The fallout/fight between Morgana and the gang in Sept and when the girls hit Ryuji after Shido's Palace.
2. Favourites are Makoto, Haru and Yusuke.
Least favourite is Morgana. I can't really say that he is my least favourite. It's more a case of "he is the one that I'm the least interested in".
3. Not in particular, no.
 4. No.
5.   Ann. I headcanon her as bi for loving Shiho and Ryuji.
6.    Yes, I did. I think that she added some interesting point of views. All the other PTs are unpopular and/or outcasts shunned by most people. Sumire is the opposite: through the game, it's shown that she was a popular girl, loved by teachers and fellow students ...... until she failed to live up to their expectations. It showed that even the most popular people can suffer if they don't  live to others' expectations.
Throughout the game, you would regularly see people being very pro or anti Phantom  Thieves. I liked that she wasn't either. She dared to question if solely relying on the PTs was wise and if people shouldn't solve their own problems. Regardless on whether you agree with her or not, I liked that she offered a different point of view.
When she first awakened to her Persona in Oct, she had no interest in joining the PTs instead preferring to focus on her passion of gymnastics.
I think it  was nice to have a character who didn't really seem *that* interested in the Phantom Thieves.
Having said, I'm not a big fan of her story in the third semester. For lack of a better word, I think her behaviour comes across as a bit fickle. She spent MONTHS living  as her sister. When she discovers the truth, she begs Maruki to let her continue living  her life as Kasumi. She spends a whole week at his Palace and after she gets rescued from Maruki on the 8th of Jan, she changes her opinion in exactly 2 days. It felt too sudden.
I think it would've been more interesting if Sumire remained loyal to Maruki to show that not everyone is strong enough to deal with their pain/trauma.
7.   Favourites are : Shumako (Ren x Makoto), ShuKita (Ren  x Yusuke) , YusuHaru (Yusuke x Haru), MakoHaru, (Makoto x Haru),   AnnShiho (Ann x Shiho), Ryuji x Sumire and RyuAnn (Ryuji x Ann).
Least favourites are any Ren x adult ships.
8.  Best: Joker/Ren
Worst: Ann. Those pink washer gloves are a crime against fashion.
9.   Yes, Haru deserved more screen time. I'm happy that Royal added some more screen time like Haru getting asked to take care of the flowers and Haru talking to Mishima during the parc cleanup. But she deserved more.
10. Favourites are Makoto (love the fake dating trope), Sojiro, Yusuke and Haru.
Least Favourite are Iwai and Yoshida. I just don't really care for their stories.
11. Best: Tae
Worst: Iwai
12. Overall, I prefer Royal. I think that it added a lot of cool new things, both story-wise and gaming-wise.
However, ending-wise, nothing can beat the good Vanilla ending where everyone drives Ren home. It really showed how close everyone was. It was a wonderful feel-good ending.
With Royal, that part has more of a "well, nice knowing you" vibe and I don't like that. They all went through so much. They're close friends. They deserved better than that brief goodbye.
13. Absolutely yes! He is a real joker (pun intended).
14. I think that the third semester story should've happened later in the year. One of the things that I really liked about the vanilla good ending was that you see all your friends and confidants rally together to free Ren in the 6-7 weeks between Christmas and the 13th of Feb.
In Royal, after the third semester events, the same thing happens in 9-10 days. I'm not saying that it's completely realistic to get someone out of jail in 6 weeks time but it's a LOT more believable than seeing the same thing happen in 9 days. Kinda broke my suspension of disbelief.
15. I don't have any.
16. Ren Amamiya.
17. Best: Kamoshida and Madarame.  I love Kamoshida's because his Palace is the most fucked up IMO. He doesn't dehumanize his victims. He knows exactly what they look like and he doesn't care how much he hurts them.
I really like Madarame's for being really gaudy with all that gold. Worst: Shido's. Fuck those mouse puzzles!!
18. Best: Sae
Worst: Mementos.
19. I don't think so but I can see why others see differently.
20. The sky is blue, grass is green and Ann is gay for Shiho.
She is definitely gay for Shiho.
21. I think that he was an awesome addition to P5. He is one of the most fascinating antagonists IMO. I feel somewhat conflicted about fighting him because he does  have good intentions unlike the other P5 antagonists but brainwashing  people is not okay.
22. Ngl it always breaks my heart  to wake up everyone from their perfect realities, especially Futaba and Haru. They look SO HAPPY with their (dead) parent in their perfect reality. But yes, I do think that Joker was right to wake them up, no matter how heartbreaking it is.
23. Akechi grew up feeling unloved and unwanted. Before the events at Christmas, I think that  his perfect reality would've been to be surrounded by people who truly loved and supported him.
After Christmas, I honestly don't know.
24. Ren once joked to Maruki that his cat had a crush on Ann and probably wished that he was human so he had a chance with her.
25. Yes and no. I feel like most of the PTs take a massive step back after their arc finishes.

Whether Joker was right to break his friends free of their perfect realities
What you think Akechi’s perfect reality would look like (unless he’s too jaded to have anything of the sort)
How the hell Maruki knew Morgana wanted to be human (this one’s mainly a joke lol but feel free to answer anyway)
If you feel like Ann’s character significantly changed after the first two arcs (I still love her, but I feel like she became dumber).

Markiplier Characters: The Ultimate Video Masterlist (UPDATED REGULARLY)
Tumblr media
So, yeah, this is a list of all the videos I could find featuring the listed characters of @markiplier.
In the case of Darkiplier, when it comes to pre-Date w/ Markiplier videos, I only listed the videos that Mark has pretty much confirmed Darkiplier is featured in. Yes, there are plenty of videos of Mark being creepy, but unless Mark says otherwise, that does not necessarily make it a Darkiplier video. But in general, the videos on this list have to fall under the following criteria:
The character featured has to be made by Mark (as in the case of Wilford Warfstache or Jim)
If the character is not made by Mark, Mark needs to have featured the character at least once in his own skits (as in the case of Ed Edgar or the Host, both of whom were created by Cyndago)
If you're still wondering why certain videos or characters aren't featured on this list, check out my other list, which has videos and characters that don't quite fit this criteria.
Also, you can find my Jacksepticeye master list here ^-^

Persona Secret Santa 2017! ❄
Tumblr media
This year, I’m hoping to create a fun event for the Persona fandom to celebrate the holidays together! Hosted by @yosugayhomomura
How does a Secret Santa work? :o
A Secret Santa is a gift exchange where the gifter (Santa) is a secret to the giftee until the day of gift-giving. For this event, you will be assigned a person and their prompts. You will use one of the prompts to create a gift for them, which you will then post on Christmas Eve. The idea behind this is that it is entirely a secret, which means no communicating with your giftee until then!
This Secret Santa is meant for the Persona fandom. This includes Revelations, 2, 3, 4, 5, and all spin-offs (Golden, Arena, DAN, P3P, Q). Gift prompts can be based on any of these games. Other SMT titles are not allowed.
What can I give as a gift?
This is up to you! Here are some ideas:
- Fan-art: Can be digital or traditional. With traditional, however, please be sure you can get a good quality photo or scan of your art! Art should be colored preferably. - Fanfic: Should be at least 1000 words. - Other: Don’t like to draw or write? No worries! You can do playlists, fan videos, fan edits, photo sets, moodboards, etc. Get creative!
Important Dates
Oct 31 - Nov 21: Sign-ups Nov 24: Assignments sent out Nov 24 - Dec: 24: Gift making Dec 24 - Dec 25: Post your gift! Dec 25 - Jan 1: Back-ups
Rules
- Work must be your own. - All gifts must be digital. No store-bought items. - Do not tell your person you’re their Secret Santa; that ruins the fun! If you need clarification of their prompts/have a question, ask them on anon, or message this blog and I will message them for you. - Use the hashtag #personasecretsanta17 and tag this blog and your giftee when you post your gift. On Christmas Eve, I’ll start reblogging them here so we can spread the Christmas spirit! :) - If you realize you cannot participate anymore, please contact me ASAP! We don’t want anyone to end up gift-less on Christmas if it can be avoided. - Have fun!
Sounds fun! How do I sign up?
SIGN-UP FORM HERE!
The last day to sign up is November 21st.
Any questions? Send an ask or message to this blog! Happy hee-hee-ho-lidays!

What’s the Draw: Internet Fandoms, Chatrooms, and Teenage to Young Adult Fans of Cartoons
The Discord Universe server, first established in 2017 and linked to Discord through an /r stevenuniverse Reddit page, has nearly 1000 members as of 2021 and dozens of different channels dedicated to art, writing, fan-discussions, and general socializing. The userbase is aged 13 and older, and mainly comprised of cartoon fans from teenage years to their late 20s, and a minority in their 30s.
Tumblr media
[The Discord Universe link page.]
Although the stigma of adults enjoying “overly optimistic, cutesy and one-dimensional” animation like Disney and Cartoon Network shows seems to persist past the 80s and 90s, and into present day, the size of the server and similar online spaces is a testament to the growing popularity of all-ages cartoons among older teen and adult audiences. [1] According to Den of Geek, cartoon shows such as Steven Universe, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power were among the top-searched fandoms in 2020. [2]
Thanks to the Internet, rapid connection with other fans can yield thriving communities like Discord Universe. However, some researchers point out that the internet medium itself affects areas like participation and social relationships and is unlike real-life meetups. [3][4] Still, fans have embraced the internet as a social platform and perhaps unknowingly adapted their communities around its functions.
By examining theory in fan-studies, the factor of the online medium, and the public perception of cartoons, one might gain a small insight into the ways in which the teen to young adult cartoon fans in Discord Universe define their relationship to the media they interact with.

_______________________________________________________________________
Many authors describe fandom not as a strictly consumer culture, but a transformative culture. Fans absorb material, construct their own meaning, and use this outlet to voice societal concerns through fanworks or community, including those concerns present in the source. In other words, by emphasizing what they do and don’t like through discussion or creations, this is a “patchwork” reflection of personal and societal values. Some, like Henry Jenkins, frame this in an idealistic manner, claiming that it reflects the hopes and dreams of the community. [5] Another view asserts that fandom is like a ‘shadow economy’, parallel to capitalist society, in which fan-works and source knowledge function as the ‘capital’. [6] Like Jenkins’ idea, fans then rework certain values in the outer society, reflected in their fan works. Others yet, like Nicolle Lamerichs, claim that emotional connection primarily drives fandom as an ‘extension of personal elements', not just fan-creation, and that it’s a way of making sense of the world through felt and shared experiences. [7]
Tumblr media
[A typical show-centered discussion, as seen in the server.]
In the case of the Discord Universe community, fandom seems to exhibit all three ideas. The existence of an entire column of art-channels with different works, lively show-discussions that are rewarded with conversation, and plenty of commentary on social issues all are regular happenings. However, there’s no telling if another group, especially on a different platform than Discord, might influence what counts as participation in fandom.
Tumblr media
[The many different channels filed under the ‘discussion’ and ‘creative’ categories in Discord Universe.]
Five different participants in the Discord Universe server were interviewed with loose guidelines regarding their favorite cartoons, the age they started watching, and if they felt any significant impact in their everyday life past enjoyment of the show itself, in order to find how the fans might define themselves.
Although a lower starting-age was expected, the fans indicated they watched most of the current favorite cartoons in their teens and 20s. A few older respondents mentioned starting their favorites closer to their 30s.
Regarding personal impact from fandom, the most common responses seemed to fall into 4 different categories: Sense of Community, Creative Outlet, Escapism and Other Positive Associations, and an Impact on Social or Societal Views.
Some mentioned they felt a sense of “nostalgia” or “happiness” watching certain shows, and they felt connected to the “kid experience” or certain family members. Others mentioned meeting friends or significant others from shared enjoyment. Another recurring answer was that watching some shows put them “in touch with aspects of self,” grew more accepting of “new perspectives and life situations,” and changed views about “socially internalized homophobia and transphobia”.
The last category, Creativity, although mentioned once in the form of feeling “motivated to make fan-pieces” is most evident in the server itself. The posts in the art channels are often fan-expression, but not always. While fan-work is not the sole determinant of fan-status, it seems to hold particular importance in this particular group of visual media fans, given the existence of many different categories. [7]
The types of responses given, reflecting nostalgia and escapism, appear elsewhere in research. In one study regarding adult opinion of Disney movies, those who enjoy them often cited the reason as being ‘nostalgic, engaging, and reassuring.’ The author also suggested that adult enjoyment of this media might act as a ‘surrogate for memories of childhood’ which they may want to revisit. [8] In the case of those who cited feeling nostalgic or enjoying childhood experiences through the eyes of an animated character, it’s reasonable that one might turn to all kinds of cartoon media with familiar themes, not just Disney.

_______________________________________________________________________
The Internet gives voice to those who might not otherwise be able to express themselves, which is one oft-apparent aspect of fan-creation [9]. According to research by Azy Barak and Ina Blau, the internet text-chat environment gives introverts more confidence to talk, even about more sensitive issues, and creates an ‘equalizing’ effect for users, regardless of status, race, gender, and appearance.[10]
Between “developing new characters and selves” through constructed profiles and nicknames, and navigating the norms that might get others to respond, the internet seems to govern how online fandom spaces operate rather than the other way around. Those who fail to meet the ‘netiquette’ of the chat area often go unanswered or kicked out. Additionally, there are often dozens, if not hundreds of lurkers in every chatroom. Each message is sent not just to the participants, but also to a larger, silent background audience, which gives a sense of a larger publicity than the immediate group. In talking in general-chat, there’s less expectation of intimacy than, say, a direct-message, which can open up a space to have low-stakes discussions and bring anonymity to participants. [11] [12]
While there is often a distinction between the real world and the constructed internet persona, sometimes users might freely blend their identities, as in Discord Universe on occasion. The internet medium, however, makes this a choice rather than a necessity, centering the creation and sharing of works and fan-discussion one of the primary functions of the group. Additionally, instantly banishing any nay-sayers, internet-trolls, or anyone else who doesn’t follow the established social norms, the fandom ‘in-group’ can near-effortlessly be maintained. The medium of the internet therefore creates quite a difference in curating a certain type of community of like-minded individuals, which may be more difficult in a real-life setting.
Tumblr media
A writer for Vocal Media, Nina Bi, states that the boundless possibilities in animation, easy enjoyment, and nostalgia tend to draw adults to all-ages types of cartoons. [13] Despite the alleged outside stigma, there does seem to be a trend in late-teenage to adult enjoyment of cartoons for their complexity and entertainment value, at least in Discord Universe. The server provides an outlet for transformative works that express opinions reflective of society, allows for socialization and friendships, and has a unique culture reflective of the internet age. In other words, seemingly just like any other fandom in our current understanding.

Once Upon a Time: What's next for Rumple and Belle?
Tumblr media
Will the Rumple and Belle relationship survive? It’s been one of the many burning questions ever since it was announced that Emilie de Ravin would not be returning as a series regular — while Robert Carlyle will — in the upcoming rebooted seventh season of Once Upon a Time.
OUAT fans definitely will get an answer as to what has happened to Belle, along with their child Gideon (Giles Matthey), when both return in the emotional fourth episode of the season. “Episode 4 is a Rumple-centric type episode that will explain to the audience quite a lot about their relationship — actually even from way, way back in the Fairy Tale Land as well,” Carlyle tells EW about the hour. “It follows the course of their relationship through the years and it explains… where she is now in terms of her life after Storybrooke.”
“The end of season 6 was truly a ‘happy beginning’ for Rumple and Belle and we’re excited to tell what we think is a deeply romantic story about where they go next as both a couple and as parents to Gideon,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis tease.
As previously revealed, Rumple is among those who come running when Henry (Andrew J. West) needs help, which is apparently why he ends up cursed in Seattle alongside Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Hook (Colin O’Donoghue). Details on Rumple’s cursed persona have been scarce, while it appears Hook is a cop and Regina may be a bartender. Carlyle is also staying mum on who his character is now, offering this small tease: “He is very, very different to Gold,” he says. “They come from the same place, but they’re very, very different people. At this point, it’s safe to say he’s a very, very different guy from Gold.”
Once Upon a Time will return Friday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

1. Sewing a Sailor Mars Costume
Everything on this table was made by me. And I self-drafted the collar. #sailormoon #sailormars #handmadehalloween
A post shared by V Mignon (@veemignon) on Oct 31, 2017 at 4:22pm PDT
This was probably the hardest sewing task I've ever attempted. I worked with horsehair ribbon and upholstery foam for the first time ever, as well as draft both the collar and the gloves by myself. I learned that sewing underwear isn't all that difficult and that if I put my mind to something, I most certainly can do it. I'm not looking forward to fixing it up or wearing those stiletto high heels for AX18.
2. Deciding to submit my short story to paying publications \ Almost got my short story published and lots of other positive feedback This wasn't necessarily anything creative I did, but it was a big step up for my creative work. I finally had the gall to start submitting to publications that would pay me for my work. I had to convince myself that I should be paid for the amount of work I put into editing Phase. So far I've had all rejections, but I appreciate those. Also, I finally started submitting to just about any publication I could find, which led to surprising results: extremely positive feedback. Rejections, yes, but what was more important to me was how each publication took the time to tell me what they liked about my piece.
3. Fixing up my Anne Takamaki (Persona 5) costume for Anime Expo 17 I tried to line the jacket which didn't work out too well, so a happy accident happened: I made cuffs out of some extra gray wool I had lying around. It looked more accurate. This was my first time cosplaying at an event such as Anime Expo in a costume I had sewn myself. And someone wanted to take my picture. Having social anxiety, crowds and people aren't necessarily my thing. But it was wonderful to see all the other Annes who waved at me.
4. Perpetually working on M+I I'm closer to a first draft than I ever have been these past 18 years, so that has to count for something. M+I is my baby/novel that is about a city that might be sentient. Or might not, considering all of the perspective characters give reasons to doubt their accounts. It also features an acrobat with blue hair and twelve fingers whose greatest attribute is falling.
5. Becoming more vocal about my social anxiety and depression both in my life and online (writing) I had a co-worker who once told me that I should be more open about what I'm going through. At the time, it was difficult for me to ever believe that anything good would come out of telling people about my brain gremlins, but it's all been well-received. Especially by people who have known me either through school or work. I want to say that this was the throw-away choice for me, but it's actually been the most beneficial to my creative work.

40 Office Halloween Costume Ideas
How popular is Halloween? According to the National Retail Federation’s annual survey, Americans were set to spend around $9 billion in 2018. And more than a third of this tally ($3.2 billion) went to costumes.
So, who are the people spending the $3.2 billion in costumes? Well, they could be your employees. And if you’ve decided to allow your employees to wear costumes to work, you also may want to join them! Of course, you’ll also want the costumes to be appropriate to the work environment. But where can you and your employees get Halloween costume ideas?
Search no more. Here are 40 office Halloween costume ideas that will allow you and your employees to have fun while still projecting the right image for your small business.
Office Halloween Costume Ideas List
Halloween Costumes From The Office
It seems appropriate to start this list with ideas from hit NBC television show The Office. And the effort Dwight Shrute puts into his costumes on the show should help get the ball rolling. Here is Dwight as the Joker from “The Dark Knight”.
This is from the Employee Transfer episode which aired originally on October 30, 2008.

Let Your Employees Dress up as You
Your employees may be concerned they’ll get in some hot water for doing this. But assure them it’s all in good fun (as long as you’re comfortable taking a joke.) If everyone goes along with it, this could be great for morale!
Dwight Shrute
The popularity of The Office means it has fans across all demographics. And with Dwight’s shenanigans on the show, it is only fair anyone should be able to dress like him. Here is a simple costume which shows your appreciation for Dwight.

An Emoji
Emojis let you express how you feel when you are messaging. This makes another easy DIY costume. You can create emojis on a piece of cardboard with different emotions and use different ones throughout the day. Or have one displaying them all at the same time.
Cotton Candy Costume
Another thing which is synonymous with Halloween is candy. So why not go as cotton candy. Here’s a playful DIY costume you can make with just a few items.
image: AWW SAM
Vampire
Here’s an all-time classic Halloween costume classic. While it is not as original, men and women can go as a vampire. You can give it your own twist by adding special-effects, contact lenses and more.
Candy Corn
While still on the candy theme, it wouldn’t be Halloween without candy corn. This fun and bright costume will cheer everyone up at the office.

Ghost
Two holes in a sheet and you have a ghost costume. As far as Halloween costume ideas for office workers go, this has got to be one of the easiest ones.
A Fortune Teller in your Office
One way to get everyone in the office to participate in the festivities of Halloween is to go dressed as a fortune teller. This costume is especially creative if the person also includes some of the tools of the trade.

Food Costumes
Want to be a vegetable, fruit, snack, dessert or any other food type? Dressing as an edible is very popular. You can be as creative as you want with these ideas. Just make sure you will still be able to work with your costume.
Clark Kent/Superman
This costume could actually be a two for one. You can dress in a suit with glasses and be Clark Kent. But if something should arise in the office, you can unbutton your shirt and reveal you are actually Superman.
Social Butterfly
This costume has become popular in the past couple of years. However, you can add your favorite social media channels and make it your own.

I’ve always been teased about being a social butterfly ? so I thought it only appropriate to go as one to work today! I so enjoy pun inspired costumes.

Mime
If you have black skinny jeans, a striped shirt, suspenders and a beret, you have yourself a mime costume. Add the white makeup and you are ready to amuse your co-workers all day long.
The Twitter Bird
A certain president has made Twitter more popular than ever. So why not go as the Twitter bird and get everybody tweeting. This DIY costume comes from Elizabethany, a radio and social media personality.
image: Elizabethany
The Cast of Seinfeld
If you have a small or large group, this costume idea can include the four main characters, or many of the other well know supporting cast. You can take it a step further and include the whole office. Speaking of offices, you can do this for The Office or any of your other favorite shows. All it takes is clothes you probably have in your closet
Rock, Paper, Scissors
Make this childhood game come to life with adult-sized costumes of rock, paper, scissors.

The Addams Family
On the slightly creepier and adult side, you can do The Addams Family. If there is one family which epitomizes Halloween, this one is it with a great sense of humor to boot.
Is that Photoshopped?
Photoshop is so popular it has become a verb. And if you make your costume this intricate, your co-workers will be asking if you have been photoshopped.

Temporary Tattoos
Temporary tattoos are a great way to create a different persona. They are cheap and easy to apply. You can go all out and really create a great costume with this idea.
Easy Ceiling Fan Costume
This costume uses a simple play on words to get its message across. You’ll make co-workers think for a minutes than laugh at the pun. This is easy to do, funny and not too outrageous.
image: Good Housekeeping
Uncle Sam
Do you work at an accounting firm? What better way to keep everyone on their toes than to dress as Uncle Sam. All you need is a top hat, a white wig, a bow tie, a goatee and you are set.  You can add the coat and the striped pants if you want to go all out.
Bread Winner
This is another costume which takes the meaning of a word literally and makes it funny. All you need are some medals around your neck and some bread.
image: Good Housekeeping
Comic Book Super Heroes for Men and Women
We’ve already mentioned Superman. When it comes to costume ideas, comic books provide a treasure trove. Spiderman, Wonder Woman, The Hulk, Super Girl, and the list goes on. Choose your favorite superhero and go for it.
Flo from Progressive
Flo from Progressive was one of the most successful marketing personalities with more than 100 commercials. If your industry handles insurance, so much the better.

The Minions
You can go solo as a single Minion or include everyone in the office as part of a theme. This is also an easy and fun costume the whole crew can participate in.
Bob Ross
Long after his passing in 1995, Bob Ross is more popular than ever. With this costume, you can include a co-worker and bring the whole thing together.

Bulletin Board
Just take some post-it notes, write different messages and pin them on a long-sleeved shirt. And you will become a bulletin board. You can make this bigger by making yourself one large post-it note.
Inflatable Car Guy
This costume will require some space, but if you can pull it off, you will give everyone at the office a fun experience.

Disney Characters
From Belle to Cruella, Wicked Witch of the East, Maleficent, Goofy, Mini Mouse and many others, you can’t go wrong with one of these costumes. With so many options, you can make it as simple or intricate as you want.
Rizzo From Grease
Grease is one of the most popular musicals of all time and you can dress up as any of the characters in the movie. Here’s Rizzo, one of the Pink Ladies.

Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs Costumes
One thing Zuckerberg is known for is wearing the same style of clothes all the time, which also goes for Steve Jobs. So, if you have a t-shirt, hoodie and jeans for Zuckerberg and a black turtleneck, blue jeans, New Balance shoes and a pair of glasses for Jobs, you have two options.
Sock Hop
Still, in that era of Grease, a sock hop costume can be worn in any office environment.

Facebook (Sort of…)
Are you the minimalist type? Well, nothing could be easier than this idea which comes courtesy of The Office. All Jim Halper did was write ‘book’ across his face, thus Facebook. This is from the Koi Pond episode which aired on October 29, 2009.

Skeleton
You can easily make a skeleton by cutting the ribs on a white t-shirt and wearing a black top underneath. Add makeup to your face and you have a DIY skeleton.
Homer Simpson
Thirty years on TV and The Simpsons are still running. And going as Homer Simpson, or any member of this animated family, is one way you can have fun at the office.

A Chip on Your Shoulder
Do you have a chip on your shoulder? Just take your favorite brand of chips, attach it with tape on your shoulder, and there you go — a costume you can put on and take off throughout the day. You can also do this by putting Smarties candies on your pants and going as ‘smartie pants’, cookies with a cap and gown for a smart cookie and the list goes on.
A Costume for You and Your Dog
If your office is pet-friendly, you can always make your dog part of the party. In this case, your dog can be Batman and you can go as Robin. There won’t be a more formidable duo at your office Halloween costume party.

Animal Costumes
Dressing as your favorite animal is another costume idea for the workplace. This kind of costume can be simple and easy or you can get intricate. It all depends on how much time and money you want to spend, as well as your level of commitment.
Pixelated Images for Adults
As a DIY costume, this is another great idea that is also a lot of fun. Just make two cardboards with alternating colored squares for your top and bottom, and you have a costume. Wear nude color clothes underneath and it will complete the look.

The great thing about Halloween is it lets you express yourself. If you’ve decided to encourage your employees to dress up, make the most of it and enjoy the process and the festivities that go along with it. All you have to do is make sure all costumes are workplace appropriate for your small business.

Redheads thrilled about (slim) chance Harry & Meghan's royal baby will be a 'ginger'

Redheads of the world, are you ready?
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s expected royal baby might – might, it must be stressed – have the same red hair and blue eyes as his/her royal daddy, joining the tiny but proud community of “gingers” longing for another red-haired hero.
Amidst all the hip-hip-hoorays about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s pregnancy announced Monday, there was another group of royal-watchers, especially in the United Kingdom, who were celebrating for a different reason.
“All of us redheads in the U.K. are wildly excited about the possibility of a red-haired baby – fingers crossed!” says Jacky Colliss Harvey, the proudly red-haired author of the 2015 tome, “Red: A History of the Redhead.”
Why so hopeful? Because Harry, the most famous “ginger prince” since at least Henry VIII, is wildly popular around the world, commanding every stage because of his distinctive curly red hair and his gregarious, good-guy persona. Now there’s a chance there might be another little Harry or Harriet? Hip, hip, hooray, indeed.
Yes, everyone is excited about the growing fourth generation of the Windsors and about how this baby, expected in the spring, will bring the total of Queen Elizabeth II’s gaggle of great-grandchildren to eight. Everybody loves babies.
Tumblr media

And they’re excited about this historic royal baby, the first ever half-American child with African ancestry to join the royal family, seventh in line to the throne behind Harry, 34, and born to his American biracial bride, the former Meghan Markle, 37.
Will the baby grow up to be tall like Harry (6-foot-1) or of medium height like Meghan (5-7)? Will he or she be slim like Meghan or lean, muscled and Army-trained fit like Harry? Big feet? Straight nose? High cheekbones? The possible combinations are endless, as with anyone’s child.
But those are not the reasons the redheads, or “gingers” as slang parlance has it in the U.K., are over the moon.
Harvey says redheads are on the rise – as a community, a distinct identity group, as a cultural force, and not just in the U.K. Another royal redhead star such as Harry will only add to their self-confidence, despite their need to slather on SPF 50 every time they go outdoors.
“We’re pretty excited about Harry and Meghan, full stop – we like her very, very much, we think she’s great, a wonderful breath of something completely new in the royal family,” Harvey says.

Meanwhile, Harvey says, there’s a redhead moment happening, becoming more visible and vocal and identifying much more as a group.
“There are huge redhead festivals in different parts of the world,” she says. “We see ourselves as promoting difference as being a good thing. There was no one book that brought it all together and related the scientific and cultural history of the redhead, so I set out to do it.”
To be sure, Harvey and experts on genetics caution, there’s only a slim chance that ginger Harry and dark-haired Meghan will produce a redhead baby, probably less than 10 percent, according to John H. McDonald, an evolutionary biologist at the University of Delaware.
“I wouldn’t say it was very, very high possibility, but there’s certainly a chance,” Harvey says.
In fact, says Brianne Kirkpatrick, a genetic counselor and ancestry expert for the National Society of Genetic Counselors, hair and eye colors are complex human traits involving the interaction of more than one gene. “We now know genetics is more complicated than we thought,” Kirkpatrick says.
The bottom line for Harry and Meghan’s baby: It’s a genetic craps shoot and anything could happen.
“They could have a blond child, a child with red hair, brown hair or black – all the possibilities could happen,” Kirkpatrick says.
Why does it matter? “People assign a lot of their identity to their DNA, and we also want to assign other people’s identity based on their DNA, even if it’s not important to them,” Kirkpatrick says. “To those who live in Britain, bloodlines mean a lot and define identity. But we (counselors) say DNA is complex – and it’s not destiny.”

The oversimplified explanation of the genetics of human traits such as hair color or eye color is that red hair and blue eyes are rare compared to brown hair and brown eyes, because the genes for brown dominate over red and blond and blue and green. If you have a red gene from dad and a brown gene from mum, you will likely have brown hair.
Red hair is so rare that only 2 percent of the world population today has it. In the U.K, it’s 4 percent, but in Scotland and Ireland it’s 12 to 15 percent of those populations.
Thus, the only way to have red hair and blue eyes is to get two copies of genes for red hair and blue eyes, one each from each parent.
Those genes could date back many, many generations to a distant ancestor – and then suddenly turn up when a red-haired baby is born to brown-haired parents.
Tumblr media

Harry comes from two families with multiple redheads: The Windsors, who descend from redhead Tudors (such as Henry VIII), and the Stuarts (Mary Queen of Scots) in the 16th century). His late mother’s family, the Spencers, also have many redheads, so we know where he got his red hair and blue eyes.
What about Meghan? We don’t know much about her ancestry other than her father is white and her mother is African-American. Harvey says it depends on where her ancestors on both sides of her family were from and whether they originated in communities with high rates of red hair.
“If her ancestors are Scottish or Irish then the red-hair gene runs much higher in those areas and also in pockets in Russia and Switzerland,” Harvey says. “Recessive (red) genes can crop up decades after they were last seen” on actual heads.

Moreover, red hair is not uncommon among African-Americans, as the series of photos of redhead black Americans by photographer Michelle Marshall attests. Malcolm X had a reddish tint to his hair, which he believed he inherited from his white maternal grandfather and his Scottish ancestry.
There are peculiarities about having red hair and the pale skin that comes with it. For instance, Harvey says they are better at producing vital vitamin D from whatever sunlight is available – an advantage in routinely overcast northern climates such as Britain’s.

But being a redhead can carry downsides, including a higher rate of skin cancer, and in the U.K. a whiff of prejudice, Harvey says. For one thing, red hair is associated with Scotland and Ireland and their not-always-happy relationships with England, now or in the past.
But in America, the descendants of Scots and Irish immigrants consider red hair a “proud cultural inheritance,” Harvey says.
“Americans I meet are always quite astonished about the prejudice (against redheads) in the U.K.,” Harvey says. “It’s just how prejudice works – it gloms on to anything that seems a little bit different. More’s the pity.”

Inside the glorious and lucrative world of Instagram's famous pups
Tumblr media
Manny has achieved a lot for a six year old.
He's a philanthropist and social media influencer with more than a million followers on Instagram, including Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart. He’s appeared on Good Morning America and had his own booth at a music festival. He has numerous licensing and sponsorship deals with brands like Turtle Wax and Dremel.
Oh, and he’s a French bulldog.
SEE ALSO: Goats are the G.O.A.T.s of Instagram
Manny the Frenchie, as he's known on Instagram, is not alone. He's part of a growing breed of pet influencers that include other pedigree personalities like shih tzu Potato McTater and Cavalier King Charles spaniel Toast Meets World — they're pictured above, doing their adorable thing.
Each of these doggos have achieved fame thanks to a distinctive personality trait.
Take Chloe the mini Frenchie, who is about half the size of a typical French bulldog. Her petite stature garnered her thousands of adoring fans, and eventually led to sponsorship deals in beauty and fashion.

A post shared by Chloe The Mini Frenchie (@chloetheminifrenchie) on Mar 3, 2017 at 7:39pm PST
Inspired by Chloe, her owner, Loni Edwards, has founded The Dog Agency — an agency that manages internet-famous pets.
Potato's famous costumes, meanwhile, included Hillary Clinton for Halloween, and have helped earn him notoriety. He has since appeared on the Today Show:

Toast, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel rescued from a puppy mill, had to have all of her rotted teeth removed. This caused her tongue to flop out of her mouth, and the internet to fall in love with her.

Her ensuing fame has led to a book deal, merchandise, sponsorships, and even a fashion campaign. While her following largely grew organically without the help of management, she is now managed by Edwards' Dog Agency.
"I have a background in PR, and I started sending out pictures of her in little outfits to different magazines, and it took off," said Toast's owner, Katie Sturino. "It became a really fun, cool thing."
Manny got the internet's attention with his sink naps.
Long weekend calls for long sink nap! 💤

"That's really what started to go viral," said Manny's owner, Jon Huang. "From there, celebrities started following up with him, giving him shout-outs. He got followed by the cast members from Glee, and then local media started picking him up."
The corporate sponsorships
The money pet influencers can make from sponsorships varies based on follower count, but it can be a cash cow. Pets with a comparable number of followers to Manny can make anywhere from $10,000 to $15,000 per sponsored post, according to Edwards.
"Of course there's many variables that go into it — the rates pets can make per post depend on the following, the engagement, and what's involved in the campaign," Edwards said. "But generally those with a couple hundred thousand followers are making $3,000 to $5,000 per piece of sponsored content, while those in the millions make $10,000 to $15,000."
Those figures are comparable to human rates; Forbes reported in April that an influencer with 100,000 followers can expect around $5,000 per post.

While one might reasonably expect these pet influencers to promote products for animals, that's not usually the case. Toast is best known as a fashion model; she did the entire look-book for Karen Walker's Spring 2015 eyewear campaign and, as a result, was featured on posters all around the world.
I am so excited to finally be able to announce that I am the new face of @karen_walker sunglasses!! You can see the whole campaign(my first one!) and all of the chic new shades on their site. Karen Walker and her wonderful team have donated generously to @friendsoffinn and are helping us get the word out about puppymills. 😎🐶🍞👅❤️***None of the photos are photoshopped. I'm just that good.*** #TOASTMEETSKAREN

Though it might seem odd that a fashion brand would choose a dog to model its new merchandise, Edwards said it actually makes good sense.
"A lot of the brands we work with are human brands as opposed to pet brands," she said of her agency. "Brands are seeing the value that pet influencers are providing; they have higher engagement levels, they're relatable across all demographics, and they offer all the traditional benefits of influencer marketing."
Modeling hasn't been Toast's only foray into the human world. She also has brand deals with Stainmaster, Febreze, and Swiffer. Chloe also has her own distinct Instagram persona, focussing on topics that might not seem typical for an animal.
"Travel, fashion, and food," Edwards said. "Chloe's content tends to revolve around those themes, and the brands she partners with are based on those themes as well."

Manny, unlike other famous pets with such large followings, is managed by his owner Huang.
"We try to partner exclusively and strategically with partners who are organic to us, and who kind of share our mission," Huang said. Manny's partners are based in both the human and pet worlds, and range from Halo organic pet food to power tool brand Dremel, which makes a special nail filing attachment.
"We take all of Manny's photos," Huang said, explaining how the process works. "We write all the captions for the organic posts. If it's campaign related, we write them in Manny's voice and if the partner wants to change or edit, then they can choose to."
Corporate partnerships and appearances aren't the only ways these pets make money. Toast and Manny both have book deals and merchandise available in their online stores. Manny even did a campaign with American Apparel — his first partnership.
Philanthro-pups
Of course, it's not all take, take, take. The humans behind the Insta pets generally use the social media platforms to give back where possible.
"Manny is known as the most philanthropic pet celebrity in the world,"Huang says. It's a grand claim, but he insists that they've donated some $105,000 to various charitable causes. The proceeds from Manny's merchandise go to animal rescue organizations and the pair purchased a new van for an animal shelter. Manny also visited a cystic fibrosis patient whose only wish was apparently to meet the dog.
Huang plans to launch Manny's non-profit foundation before the end of the year, which will benefit whatever causes "touch [his] heart."
"We visit a lot of retirement homes; Manny's training to visit kids now," Huang continued. "We want to work with kids with disabilities and fighting cancer. We want to cheer them up with Manny."
According to Chloe's website, she has used her celebrity to raise money for the Humane Society of NY, mostly through fashion-based collaborations.
"[Chloe] recently collaborated with luxury scarf line Donni Charm to create dog scarves, as well as worked with a factory in NYC to create Pawtty Bags, essentially little dog purses to hold poop bags," her website states. All proceeds went to the Humane Society.

For Sturino, the most important use of Toast's platform is encouraging dog adoption. She began the account not to seek fame, but because she felt more people needed to be aware of rescue dogs like Toast.
"She just had a very special energy — she just did," Sturino said. "People were always very drawn to her."
In addition to monetary donations to the humane society, she frequently uses Toast's account to advocate for the removal of pet stores from New York City.
The future for Insta-pups
The Instagram pet community has ballooned in recent years, with newer pet owners seeing the mass appeal enjoyed by famous animals.
"I think that there was a first wave of Instagram famous dogs," Sturino said. "And now that world has bloated so much."
Take Potato, whose owner Tracy Wong started his account after following San Francisco's Daily Dougie. "I became obsessed [with Dougie]," Wong said. "I said, 'When I have a dog, he's totally gonna be Instagram famous.' It started as a joke, and it was just me following other dogs on Instagram and getting a lot of joy out of that; we never thought it would escalate to the point it's at now."

Much like any niche community, Wong said, there's always a bit of drama. Sturino agreed. "It's like the Toddlers and Tiaras of dogs," she joked.
The issues stem from owners of rescue dogs versus those of dogs who were bought from a store or breeder. "A lot of store bought dogs on Instagram hide a little behind dog rescue, acting like they didn't buy a dog," Sturino said.
The ASPCA works closely with a lot of these canine celebs. “Instagram pet celebrities have a large influence on their fans, which is why the ASPCA often collaborates with them to spread awareness about key animal welfare issues including the importance of pet adoption, how to end puppy mills, and the cruelty of dog fighting, said Olivia Melikhov, ASPCA director of social media strategy.
"Lil Bub, for example, does a great job raising awareness about special needs pets, while Marnie the Dog helps raise visibility about the value of senior pet adoption. So while simply being famous on Instagram is a celebration of pets in general, we feel the true potential impact of these wonderful animals is their ability to advocate for fellow dogs and cats in need and at risk.”
All of the owners said their pets' fans made running the accounts a fulfilling experience.
"Potato's fans are the sweetest people in the world," Wong said. "You see this goofy-looking, fluffy dog — just his existence makes us happy. It's cool we get to share that with everyone else."
