Paul: I think we thought it was ok - I think, looking back on it, I think we were quite pleased with it. Erm… at the time, it was alright, you know, it wasn’t the great thing we’d ever done… I defend it on the lines that, nowhere else do you see a performance of I Am The Walrus, that’s the only performance ever… so things like that I think are enough to make it an interesting film
John: And now we’re going to play a track from Magical Mystery Tour, which is one of my favourite albums, because it was so weird, and it’s I Am The Walrus, it’s also one of my favourite tracks cause I did it of course, but also cause it’s one of those that has enough little bitties going to keep you interested, even a hundred years later
Paul McCartney and John Lennon discuss the I Am The Walrus performance in Magical Mystery Tour, filmed 23rd September 1967. The Beatles Anthology (1995)

the way that both john and paul describe 6th july 1957 is soooo “sailor sees girl across crowded dance hall and vows that one day she’s going to be his wife”
