So what's the Mirrored Trio Theory?
The Mirrored Trio theory is, for lack of a better explanation, a two pronged theory regarding the way the main trio will parallel both the generation that led to / immediately received Aaravos upon his fall (himself, Leola, and a speculative human who may or may not have been a mage / helped to found Elarion) and how they may also parallel the Orphan Queen, Jailer, and Aaravos yet again. So put your tinfoil hats on and strap in because it's going to be a speculation heavy one, lads! We're going to get deep in the weeds.
Fallen Trio
So the first trio we want to talk about is what I'm going to, for lack of a better term / meta simplicity, refer to as the Fallen Trio, consisting of Aaravos, Leola, and 'Elarion' — our stand-in for a potential human Aaravos had a close dynamic with that may be intertwined with the human city of Elarion.
First, I want to talk about Aaravos and Leola. We get our first mention of Leola in S5, specifically with Leola's Last wish being a star for both Xadians and for humans, who use it to navigate and "to find their way in the endless darkness of the night." This is fitting given that what we know of unicorns from the book one novelization — that they gave primal magic and stones to humanity out of mercy and compassion — and that Tales of Xadia singles her out further as the specific unicorn to do so, although it omits primal stones from the equation:
Tumblr media
This is, of course, a big parallel between Leola and some details we know from Aaravos as well, who also gave gifts to humanity: the relic staff that Ibis identifies as truly belonging to Aaravos ("It was a gift from one of the Great ones" / "If you seek to return that staff to its true owner...") and, as Claudia says, dark magic:
Tumblr media
However, there's also been indications that Leola might've been a Startouch elf (tweet from Aaron Ehasz identifying her as the Startouch child + the star on the star chart map, although it's not entirely clear), that star magic can be reality altering, that Startouch elf designs had unicorn like horns protruding from their foreheads, and that history can change and shape things differently than they necessarily were.
Either way, unicorns are one of the few creatures we know to also possess the Star arcanum and, seemingly like the Startouch elves, are all but gone from Xadia (+ the Pentarchy)'s physical plain. And that she, like Aaravos, were two Star(touch) beings who both wanted to help humanity and help them develop magic, but did so in very different ways. Whether they are literally related or the same species, I think this parallel between them means they're set up to have an almost sibling-esque bond — one that existed, and one that accordingly fell apart under the brunt of dark magic and other disagreements, as TDP is prone to do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Put a pin in Callum and Ezran for now, cause we're going to circle back to them shortly.)
Bare minimum, Leola and Aaravos will have to be foils if not contemporaries of each other, given the closeness of their original goals in manifestation, regardless of motivation. This is particularly true given that Aaravos preys on mages in particular and that dark magic (plus a little Star magic, maybe?) allows him to literally possess people who have done dark magic, which can be no happy accident.
Given that Leola seemed dead set on giving humans primal magic, it seems unlikely she might've been too keen on a dark magic, alternative development either, which we know came after, thanks to Ripples.
It happened long ago, when humans had only just learned to hold fire in their hands without burning. They nurtured their precious primal flames secretly—in the dark of night, beneath shadows and shrouds—as cultivating its glow drew the eyes and ire of monsters. Eventually, for the audacity of their fire, they were hunted, and—though they looked to the stars for salvation—the stars, too, looked down upon them with disdain. Humanity had been given something it was never meant to have.
So again, you have two characters with very similar goals/desires, but very different ideas of how to achieve said goals. This one of the reasons why, I think, that TDP loves to have siblings disagree, as it's an effective way of having more worldviews on display with some hope for reconciliation or the tragedy of deterioration, or both. Callum and Ezran stand alone as the one sibling pair that hasn't been terribly wrenched apart by political or ideological disagreements thus far, save for Sarai and Amaya, who were torn apart by Sarai's death.
Which brings me to my next point: if Aaravos and Leola had a sibling like bond, did he lose her to their potential ideological disagreements, or did those disagreements actually cost her life?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whether Leola just walked away and likewise abandoned him (like Soren), became too distant in disagreement to continue having some sort of bond (like Harrow and Viren, and Janai and Karim), flat out died (like Khessa, Harrow, and Sarai), or all three, that could be one of the many cogs motivating Aaravos to keep turning the wheel of the cycle, as grief has often been the primary motivator throughout history, even amongst the 'villains'. A "song of love that loss" that Aaravos has chosen handpicked "instruments" for, after all (4x03, 4x04).
And like I said, Callum and Ezran are long over due to have a disagreement, given that they haven't had a substantial one since season one, and given that Ezran has grown to only be more assertive than he was since then, not less. This could easily be over Runaan (Callum, having already sworn himself to helping Rayla free her parents, and Ezran, understandably holding onto anger and grief concerning Harrow's death). I'm sure there are also plenty of other things they could heavily disagree over in the future, like military aid or action or how to approach trying to defeat Aaravos, etc.
The point to all of this is that I think Ezran could be a very good stand in for Leola — at least in terms of being selfless, deeply compassionate, uncomplicated, and adamant about giving people their freedom even at the cost of themselves and even if that gift can be misused or discarded (3x04) — which means Aaravos could offer a potential parallel to Callum in the sibling split. Aaravos, who turned to dark magic as an option regardless of or precisely because of the potential violence, and Callum, who argues for the Nova Blade whereas his brother still always champions a non-violent route thus far.
After all, TDP loves to have their "person A is estranged from their sibling and is determined not to lose their lover" parallel, given that it's happened four times (Harrow, Viren, Sarai; Viren, Harrow, Lissa; Claudia, Soren, Terry; Janai, Karim, Amaya) already.
Now, this could be wildly off base as we know very little about Leola and even less about her potential dynamic with Aaravos, but if we follow along with the idea that Ezran could parallel her and Callum could parallel Aaravos, I think now maybe we can talk about Elarion and Rayla.
Years ago we learned that there was a place on Xadia's map (both sides) that was named after someone who had a deep connection to him, and that many of his choices are based around this relationship. Given the Midnight Star poem, people defaulted to Elarion ("Elarion, black-eyed child / her twisted roots spread deep and far / The humans’ might sparked by the light / of Aaravos, her midnight star") although I've also considered Kalik.
And while I'm still not unconvinced that Elarion isn't just a name like Elara and Laurelion, before Aaravos changed his name, combined, I do think Elarion has to be important in Aaravos' backstory, and that it's more than likely that a founder of Elarion / a human involved with Elarion for a variety of reasons.
For starters, while we can be told that Aaravos had a soft spot for humans at one point, giving us a specific person or dynamic to think of is helpful in regards to emotional investment, and in helping to explain why he may have developed said soft spot. We also know, thanks to a birthday post years ago, that a human once gave him a gift:
He thinks that if he cared for the idea [of birthdays], he’d like to remember the taste of a smooth red fruit a human had plucked from a tree for him, once. It had been so crisp, and so sweet.
While this could've been the Orphan Queen (we do know, thanks to 1x01, that there's a tree planted in the castle courtyards 300 years ago, but we don't know it was an apple tree), an apple transfer like this one feels far more "Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and knowledge isn't always a Good thing" type schtick. Not only does it seem to indicate a more intimate bond, it also might foreshadow the reason Aaravos Fell.
One of the most interesting, but perhaps more discreet, reasons I think there's a connection between 'Elarion' as a person and Aaravos is because of the nature motif running between what little we know of Elarion and to do with Aaravos' mirror and appearance motifs. The Midnight Star is riddled with flower and nature symbolism, referring to it as a "trembling seed" and "fading bloom," that "her roots took hold" and later became "twisted," and that before the gift of Aaravos, she was "wilting" with "bone-white branches". And Aaravos' mirror and the box that held his matching key have blooming flowers on it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
See the flowers along the bottom on the actual frame of the mirror, then sculpted along the sides, and the top? Yeah. We also know that flowers themselves, thanks to Tales of Xadia, are featured in a story told both in Katolis and amongst the Moonshadow elves in particular, featuring an elven thief who steals what you value most, leaving only flowers in their wake. This is the only story in all of Tales of Xadia that we see two cultures share, even if they interpret it wildly differently.
Tumblr media
Flowers that were always gone by morning, and gifts that couldn't be accepted or understood ("I’ve got one more gift for you, Callum: I'm going to keep you safe. I have to. I love you too much not too [...] Taking on hard choices and going to dark places is an act of love. It’s a gift. So, please let me give you this gift, Callum. Stay safe, and stay in the light").
Tumblr media
We also know that whoever Aaravos loved, he inevitably lost whether due to time or tragedy. While this form of grief is one the show has explored, it was previously largely only through Harrow, who mourned Sarai for 9 years upon losing her, and who avenged her by slaying Avizandum, and more briefly through Ethari believing Runaan was dead.
That was, until season four, where Callum grieving Rayla and dealing with the fallout of that grief and distance turned it into more of an accentuated plot point, both before and even after her return.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before, losing your partner in this manner would've been something Callum had witnessed, but not experienced. Now, whether the show wants Callum to sympathize with Aaravos or not, it is an experience that they could both understand, particularly if it is going to be one of Aaravos' main motivators.
Thus, we have a disagreement set up between 'siblings' (Leola, Aaravos; Ezran, Callum) as well as lost love (Elarion, Aaravos; Rayla, Callum) as a big motivator for choices, grief, and what possibly led to the fall. That Aaravos, at least in practice / thematic lineups, being a Callum who lost his Rayla and his Ezran*, and then lost himself.
Therefore:
Aaravos — Callum
Leola — Ezran
Elarion — Rayla
[ * This is not to say that Callum would pull an Aaravos and go on a hellbent 1000+ year revenge scheme, because he's not like that, but I do think it could be a very poignant and apt parallel of giving him and Aaravos more in common than they currently have, which is about nothing but magical curiosity and connection. ]
However, 90% of this is all speculation of things that have been kept supremely under wraps. For something a little more tangible simply because we have slightly more information, let's talk about the
Imprisonment Trio
The Imprisonment Trio, as the name implies, refers to the two humans who seemed to directly (the Jailer) and potentially indirectly (the Orphan Queen) be involved in imprisoning Aaravos (the third in this trio). This time, however, I'm going to argue that Aaravos — in terms of his imprisonment — is going to parallel someone other than Callum, but we shall see.
To start, I want to look at the Jailer and the Orphan Queen, since their parallels to Callum and Ezran respectively are the most obvious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We don't know for sure whether the Jailer came from Katolis, but we know that the Orphan Queen did, eventually taking on the throne from the previous royal family and starting Harrow and Ezran's royal line, first hinted at in 3x05 with "Only orphans can ascend to the throne". Ezran has been directly compared to her in both role and appearance by the show's framing and by characters like Rex Igneous in 4x08: "I should have seen it before. Long ago, it was a human who saw through the Fallen Star's schemes and helped Xadia put an end to them. You look so much like her." This plays well into Ezran's tendency to discover or unearth long lost things, most notably Zym's egg, just as the Orphan Queen became the Truthteller of Aaravos' treachery.
Callum, for his part, is a human mage, just like the Jailer. He's clever, very talented with magic, and despite being Aaravos' preferred prey as a mage will ultimately — like the Jailer — play a role in his defeat. He will also work with and for the archdragons and their wills, but has no problem being disobedient either, in the name of concern or mercy, much like how the Jailer kept Akiyu alive rather than tell the archdragons the truth. And like the Jailer, he understands the potential danger of knowledge: "The entire world would be in danger if she let him live with this knowledge" / "I need you to kill me."
Like the brothers, they were a (future) royal and mage working together, starting off what perhaps was a long tradition of Katolian monarchs having high mages. If, as often theorized due to having an Aaravos-y twin box (S2 novelization) and his love of puzzles, Kpp'Ar is indeed descended from the Jailer, that adds another layer onto Kpp'Ar being one of Callum's predecessors as High Mage. While Ezran has the job and the bloodline of the Orphan Queen, Callum would've more directly inherited the position of (high) mage from the Jailer's thematic and occupational line.
Granted, there are differences. Most notably, the Key of Aaravos was given to Callum, not to Ezran, although there could be potential future parallels between the brothers and the Sunfire siblings, with Karim unable to undo Kim'Dael's chains because his sister is still queen, and the brothers needing to work together to fully use the cube. I wouldn't be surprised if Ezran learns more about the cube and the Orphan Queen in S6 while Callum still has some unknowns to its true meaning, leading to some delicious dread and dramatic irony. But I digress.
The point is that the Jailer and the Orphan Queen both had their roles to play in imprisoning Aaravos, and that Callum and Ezran, respectively, will both have their roles to play in trying to keep Aaravos contained, only to inevitably somehow fail in a way that allows him to escape, if by another's hand. We do know the brothers will be going to weird ruins in a future season thanks to some out-of-context spoilers that have yet to pass, and the Ruins of Elarion would certainly fit:
Tumblr media
Which, just like the out-of-context spoiler card, you might've noticed that I haven't mentioned Rayla and who she's going to be paralleling yet. Well, that's because this time / generational pass around, I think she's going to be the primary foil to Aaravos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, this train of thought isn't new by any means. I've thought Rayla paralleled Aaravos reasonably well since S3 aired largely due to their status as ghosted/banished elves, a compassion for humans (at least implied for Aaravos) that other elves disapproved of, and their dynamics with Callum and Viren, respectively.
Both Rayla and Aaravos have to work to earn their high mage's trust ("And should we trust you? Have you told us the truth about everything?" / "And why should I trust you?") over the course of season one for Rayla and season two for Aaravos, ending in promises of allegiance and togetherness: "You've got to stay with me" / "I will stay with you" (2x09). Aaravos leads Viren to his doom in being tackled off the Pinnacle, and Callum throws himself off the Pinnacle after Rayla.
You can imagine my delighted surprise, then, when S4 simply cranked it up even further: Rayla was hunting Aaravos' mage ("I spent two years hunting"), and Aaravos was hunting Rayla's mage ("Yes, mages were his prey"). Rayla wants to protect Callum and kill Viren, and Aaravos had promised to save Viren and use Callum. Even for Callum himself, 4x04 and 4x07 seemed like clear set up for Rayla symbolizing agency in Callum breaking free from Aaravos' control someday, putting the two in literal opposition to each other. Two potential paths (although picking Rayla, at least at first, may not be mutually exclusive from picking Aaravos).
Tumblr media
Rayla, who was also harshly punished by Xadia with no trial.
This isn't to say that Aaravos didn't do anything wrong and is being unjustly punished — far from it — or that Aaravos' imprisonment and subsequent freedom won't have parallels to anyone else like say, Callum, who will likely be imprisoned by Aaravos through possession in S6 and ultimately freed by Rayla. More so that imprisonment of different sorts has been a running theme throughout Rayla's arc, and that Callum — who is primed to be Aaravos' chain breaker, whether through possession or not — could also be hers (if not just her parents') the way he has routinely been in the past, whether it was from instigating the events that eventually led to her binding (chain) coming off or saving her from being emotionally stuck (3x08) or from doing anything for her freedom (5x01, 5x08). He's primarily been someone who is tethered to freedom when it comes to recognizing and breaking cycles (chains of history) or literal restraints, and it's only in season four and season five that he's shifted to being both tied to freedom and having himself restrained.
I've speculated in the past this may result in Callum (and Ezran) leading to Aaravos' release in order to save/free Rayla; however, the show may not want as much of a repeat from 5x08, and freeing the Moon fam from the coins also resulting in Aaravos' freedom through an escalation of events would also keep that ironic thread, so it could really go anywhere.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two humans, one elf, and endless tragedy, repeating and breaking cycles all at the same time. Ezran, discovering important info about his ancestor and possibly the Key; Callum, following in the Jailer's footsteps and unravelling the final puzzles of the prison and figuring out how to undo it; and Rayla, ghosted, banished, vying against Aaravos for the control and agency of his latest pawn who also happens to be the love of her life.
So for the Imprisonment Trio:
The Orphan Queen — Ezran
The Jailer — Callum
Aaravos — Rayla
In Conclusion
Is any of this something? I don't know, honestly. I think it's plausible, at least partially. I think it'd be neat. We know TDP likes varying intergenerational parallels and looking at how history repeats, whether that's directly through family (blood or not) lines, or by having repeating plot points (the dragon quartet, or Rayla being immobilized) and trials (Rayllum facing Sol Regem, much like Ziard, etc). We know there was someone Aaravos loved and lost, we know he's not above using what people want against them, and the connections between Ezran and the Orphan Queen are just Text at this point, although how they may manifest further, we don't know.
This is just one particular stab at it, and an examination of three of the series' most interesting (potential) trios. We'll simply have to see if anything here hit the nail on the head.
As always, thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed!

Episodes 3 and 4 detail the events up to and including Operation Wallclimber. Packaged as a bonus is a novella that lays bare V.IV's induction into the Vesper Squad, as well as some of the meager deaths of Walter's mutts. Proof of your ability is on the line—you will not return empty-handed."
3. "Raven, it's me. Volume 3 of the Armored Core VI Blu-rays is going on sale. That means Episodes 5 and 6, where you take on the Watchpoint. I've looked into the bonuses. There's a novella in this one covering the Fires of Ibis, and a report on Dolmayan. I don't have any funds with which to buy it... Would you preorder it for me?"
4. "Tourist. This is "Chatty" Stick from RaD. There is a date set for Volume 4 of the Armored Core VI Blu-rays, which has made the boss very happy. Episodes 7 and 8 will cover the Crossing. They try to stop him from setting stuff on fire, but they've come to the conclusion he's a pyromaniac/arsonist.

Armored core 6 spoiler posting ! This time for the ng+ run and the ending I did, and my thoughts on ng3 thus far:
This time the ending I got for my second run was “the fires of raven”
Pretty hardcore name for recreating the apocalypse and simply leaving the planet, but I get why Walter and Carla wanted it done. They’re the kind of people where the ends justifies the means. Eliminating all life on this planet, for the sake of containing and destroying an organic energy fuel substance that was on its way of leaking out to the space, spreading to other planets, more corporate wars fought for this fuel, and in the end leading to more fires of ibis situations on other planets
Or would it?
The game intentionally never (or at least hasn’t) explained WHY the first fires of ibis happened, and I’m just gonna go ahead and guess allmind is behind this, the group that’s been the most IN GAME but with the least story impact, and my second guess is the group that the original raven is from, killed that lil bitch twice don’t show your face around me again unless u wanna talk >:|
I doubt it’s ravens group tho. A mission I did on the side made it sound like the original raven leaked the information about coral LEADING to the corporations even knowing about rubricon. And it’s giving government leak/Edward Snowden vibes which to ME is a good guy position, now ALLMIND…..
They got some scary descriptions for the allmind arena. Yeah, AllMind exists for mercenaries (aka me) but.. the descriptions include stuff talking about fusing mech with the human mind to make some sort of link, make the body of the mech feel like the body of the pilot? Weird stuff, Also the allmind lady called me a “humanoid”, what’s that about???? Rusty seems to know my true identity since the second he met me (Walter suggests this), and Ayre suggests we’ve met before? So I’m thinking 621 was involved in the fires of ibis situation somehowwww
Then there’s all the hidden notes about these 2 scientists? And their sons that pick up that their scientist dads are losing their minds? There’s a lot im not piecing together at the moment, but there’s a lot of things that haven’t been explained fully, not that they need to, but I can feel an “aha” moment coming. I’m taking a break from the game tho I speed ran the game to get the second ending over with for this upcoming ng+ 3 run that I started (😭 I’m tired)
Back to the ending tho
SO GLAD I GOT TO KILL AYRE LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ ayre fans im only slightly sorry
She was SOOOOO annoying the whole run. I’m so bugged by her doting girlfriend, yelling at me to survive WHILE all I’m doing IS surviving, her character is shoved on you, she hardly has offers any insight into coral other than coral is alive (you call them your brothers and sisters but can you get the mechs powered by coral to stop killing me????), ayre get a life!!! I hate mascot characters and I hate bitches (whiny girls) SHOVED ON YOU in any game, sorry!!! And u know what? she did actually get a life, I was so happy she fucked off, got in a robot herself, and started doing shit for herself even if it meant the first thing she did upon gaining autonomy was going in to kill me. Go girl!!!!! now what hurt was putting down rusty, but I killed him too fast, so fast that my monkey brain outsped the sad feeling I was supposed to associate with doing that, and I was glad they gave him two health bars.. because the first one I kinda mowed down and I felt semi bad about it and then when he got back up I (in full video game enjoying mode) went all chuuni and yelled “I LIKE THAT AMBITION OF YOURS RUSTY” and Then mowed him down again. So now I’ve gotta go to YouTube bc I didn’t save the fight to fully process what Rusty was yelling at me because when I’m under high stress I don’t hear anymore I just get the job done 😫
Gotta take a break tho, ng3 gave me a mission that wasn’t in my first 2 runs of the game and in that mission they shoved in those wheel skeletons from ds1 on me (😡😡😡) and THAT was the hardest mission I’d had in a while, so much so that it drained me of wanting to play after that (that and I had been doing nothing but play the game for the past 2 maybe 3 days) 💤

☆ !! Happy birthday @raggedy-dxctor !! ☆
As much as Corin hated summer, it was always a nice view to watch the town nestled amidst rolling hills and drenched in soft hues of fire riding the sunrise, he tracked all streaks of orange blazes and tiger fur sluggishly ascending behind the horizon and overlaying the mountain tops like milkweed monarchs, resin and the plumage of a scarlet ibis. He leaned against his palm and sighed annoyingly as the sky turned to acacia marmalade and tumbleweed cotton candy. Fucking shit, why did his birthday have to be during these heats? The final embers of daylight casted a veil of twilight upon the sizzling asphalt outside the diner, a box of inseparables matches and an empty butterfinger packaging. It reminded the honey haired male of his old treehouse, where it always smelled of burning chalk and late breakfast. He groaned again while pushing himself away from the window and heading towards one of the bar stools, in the cusp of summer's rich warmth a cold fruit punch easily did the trick. They closed about an hour ago, having spend a little too much time with the last remaining visitor - he gave the little girl a jawbreaker after she showed him her Lisa Frank sticker album.
After taking a seat behind the counter and turning of the shitty hallmark sitcom on the old cathode ray-tube TV, Corin took off his apron and threw it aside on one of the pub tables. One of his annotated books was laying open on the wood with condensation rings, passenger to Frankfurt. He grimaced and quickly grabbed it, mouthing a small 'sorry Agatha' while hastily scrubbing off the moisture from the cover. Some other unnecessary and less precious items were placed there earlier during customer service, like an envelope from his neighbor Sherry, who constantly rambled about government conspiracies and how she wanted to hook up with a royal guard. Probably a job rejection, dental records from her ex fiance, or ugly infomercial floral maxi skirt coupons. Corin fetched himself a drink and sipped on the icy cocktail slowly as he waited for the door bell to jingle. There was still time left before he was picked up so he began reading rather lazily, skimming over the pages through round lenses and enjoying his cooling beverage. A calico cat walked past the large windows of the building and Corin found himself smiling softly at the flecked feline, her soft fur was matted, all oriental rugs and marble cake. He hummed as he adverted his hazel eyes from the kitty and continued scanning through the paperback crime fiction.
1975, the outskirts of Sacramento, far away from the shore and bustling turnpikes. His best friend Milo had found an old pickup truck, whose tailgate has clearly been through stuff, abandoned in a messy, green understory. He recalls how the unruly boy handed him the red volume with busted knuckles, scraped knees and a missing tooth. They spent the entire day there as Corin quietly declaimed his new gift with pooh bear bandaged fingers, scrabble boards and a spirograph. If he were being honest he didn't concentrate much on the book, because he already went through it so many times - something about ministers insisting on kittens. Between the idyllic backdrop of their small hometown, was the diner that they spent all their money on to open. With regular patrons beckoned inside by the smells of rich coffee and the atmosphere of pure nostalgia and camaraderie, Corin's eyes drifted to the yesteryear polaroids on the wall. He emptied his glass as he jumped off of the chair to place it in the sink and shoved the piece of literature aside carefully, outside night was beginning to settle as one of the diner's owners started to turn off the fluorescent lights.
As if on cue the entrance signaled being opened, Corin rolled his eyes as he heard the soft thumps of canvas sneakers against tile. "How about you start showing up on time?" The brit snapped playfully and heard Milo scoff, he didn't even have to look at him to see the shrug of his shoulders. "Can't teach an old dog new tricks." Just like last year, the younger male agreed to prepare a birthday night-out while Corin took on the working hours. Corin laughed lightly as he switched off the last lustre of a bulb and turned to face his cocky friend, and just like always that stupid leather jacket squeaked like melting rubber. He noticed how Milo's shaggy black hair was even more disheveled and messy, top crinkled like he's been chewed up by a cow. "Did you get hit by a tractor?" The other clicked his tounge and eyed Corin like he was the most irritating thing he had to deal with. His demeanor was tinged with an edginess that tended to keep poeple at arm's lenght, but Corin found it cringe if anything really. "A baler if you really give a shit." They could go on bickering for the rest of the evening but he'd end up being beaten up like a pinata when the taller male had enough.
"My god dude." Corin ridiculed and grabbed his jacket from off of the hanger by the entry. Milo always had been too reckless and bold for his own good, raven between doves and words sharp like shattered glass. Throwing forks out of ferris wheels, climbing wicker braid utility poles and ever the misfit as Mrs. Corenthal oh so lovingly dubbed him. "Close." He teased and bumped his shoulder against Corin's as he followed after him, the older of the two shoved back against him flippantly. Just across the beanery was Milo's motorcycle, a sleek cruiser with shiny silver details. The tires rutted stubbornly against the hot gravel over the months, oil puddles now way too dry and long gone to see on the concrete. Before either of them considered the idea of a shared buisness, during days of madeleines and holographic boomboxes. They used to play with post soviet comics and pogo balls, when Corin wrapped those stupid sesame street bandaids over Milo's bleeding cheeks on the toilet floor during third period science. It was childhood stratagems, handwritten bonbon wrappers, something short of bittersweet and purple stained.
"You comin' or what?" Corin didn't realize he froze after wrangling the keys out of the locket, quickly jogging up to Milo and taking the spare helmet. Even blindfolded it was familiar to sit on the upholstery leather of the vehicle. Suddenly the blue eyed man shifted and Corin barely managed to grip a chain hanging from Milo's jeans to steady himself as the obsidian colored scrambler leaned to the side. "Can you at least warn me next time?" Flushing barely at the embarrassing yelp that slipped out, hands coming up to safely curl around his waist. A small twitch, but that was all. Finally settling according to the proper safety precautions and squirming around for a solid eleven seconds to get comfortable, Corin rested his forehead against the healthy shoulder of the rider. "Better not drag me off to the middle of the forest again." It was a rather nice suprise sure, but he wouldn't put it past the incendiary to bury him alive where nobody could find his body. An irked grumble is all he got in return, accompanied by a kick to his ankle. "Dick." Corin gritted out through a painful hiss, tightening his hold around Milo's stomach and gazing at the now closed restaurant.
He scarcely registered the engine starting before he felt the upcoming wind on his jaw, fluttering past them as Milo drove across the streets. Summer was hell but this made it bearable, now they were drifting over the highway towards the neighboring city far up east. Furrowing his eyebrows under the helmet and digging his fingers into the belt of Milo's pants it was an obvious, wordless sign of confusion that he hoped the other would get. Great, the guy finally got enough and he was going to end up behind a fucking graffitied dumpster by the side of the road. Ignoring that line of thinking as he pulled himself closer to the rough surface under his face, Corin watched the passing signs and traffic symbols. The zooming of the rolling tires brought back a memory from camp, when he used to smile at all the kites and paperplanes. Soon enough the scenery became brighter with neon shades of red and blue, a metropolitan aurora borealis. He lifted his head up to take in all the surroundings and upcoming tunnels when Milo switched gears to a faster limit. In a quick duck they overtook multiple cars with precise outstrips, fluidly retreating into a straight position. Corin's arms loosened again when the intrepid move was over and the motorbike continued to rush over even cement like before.
Nearly an hour later the two arrived in Memphis, both hunched over the dark two-wheeler. The city's center was busy as always, loud crowds and nightclubs, like a massive lambent slinky. Corin was hardly holding onto Milo anymore, the tips of his palms faintly brushing over his hips as the brash male set a steady pace. It was nice to be back here for a little trip and private party, with luck maybe his corpse wouldn't be vandalized. They drove into a parking lot not far away from where the majority of the people collected like moth balls and dust. Corin was the first to hop off of the seat like always and yanking the helmet down to place it down. His best friend rolled his neck and the snapping joints that popped under the movement made the bartender shiver.
"Are you actually planning on talking to me today?" Corin crossed his arms over his chest and tilted his head gayly. Milo just quirked a split eyebrow and continued to lock up his beloved, his baby. "Are you planning on stopping with that whining?" As if genuinely offended by his comment, Corin let out an insulted gasp. Without further words or sarcastic remarks, Milo lazily strolled along the illuminated pedway towards the teeming center of arching magnolias and the Delta's melancholic breeze. 1983, Beale Street. On the eighteenth of August, the two were barely teenagers. Milo's broken wrist held a copy of Robin Run-the-hedge, and the smell of nicotine - charted remnants of tobacco and smoke, still used to bother him. And Corin collected poplar tree seeds behind his tutor's pergola, convinced it was a fairy's cotton hassock. And if they ever held hands because they were scared of losing eachother in the throngs of Tennessee? Well, that was between them and the hopscotch drawings.
"Forgot how vibrant this place is." Corin murmured over the booming music festival close to the sauntering pair. Milo nodded in agreement and nonchalantly jaywalked, flipping off the ruby red stickman as he crossed the avenue. "I'm not paying for your fine." The older scolded and flicked his arm when the they arrived on the opposite side, many shops and all sorts of niteries lined the jammed streets. Under the shroud of an indigo, starless sky they arrived in the heart of Memphis late at night. The charming blend of history and modernity followed the cyan ripples of the Mississippi River, devil-may-care attitude and escapade scars. "Quit acting like you don't already." Milo quipped back, flashing his teeth. That reckless abandon that Corin admired but could never quite embrace, a caged bird unsure of its newfound freedom. A radiant summer afternoon, near the koi pond veiled behind the ivy-clad stone walls of Mr. Corenthal's mediterranean villa - the lady with the polka-dot bucket hat and persian cat Edgar. They forgot their sandcastle toolkit, a bottle of mello yello and some indie blockbuster Looney Tunes strip in her garage. The two ambled down the streets and soon enough Milo abruptly halted infront of a small, tucked away bakery. The lanky male stepped aside, spiked arm cufflinks like a silver vice, and urged Corin to walk inside first. With a suspicious side glance, obviously baiting, the shorter headed over the threshold and Milo followed.
"What is this place?" Corin asked softly as the aroma of pastries and coffee hit his nose. Warm, crisp and cozy. Milo tapped the rim of his glasses, leading him to one of the booths in the corner. "The fuck does it look like to you? Not a fuckin' laundromat is it?" Scooting into the narrow seats was not really a challenge, both of them already had enough practice in their own diner. "Oh shut up." Corin grumbled, throwing his feet onto the bruiser's lap under the table out of spite. An annoyed half snare got caught in Milo's throat as the older pressed his soles into his stomach, sure enough leaving behind pale pattern stains. "Get your fuckin' feet down." He gritted the warning out with a joshing exhale but not actually making an attempt to remove them. Corin smiled and placed them over his thighs, feeling the torn patches of ripped denim under exposed calfs. "Don't push it birthday boy." He knew that Milo didn't really mean any of it but it was always fun to goad, so he applied even more weight onto the other's legs.
After a few minutes of back and forth bickering, a waitress came to take their orders. Milo decided on an espresso, while Corin allowed himself a proper treat. 1981, Cherokee. Beside a babbling brook they buried Corin's hamster and sent out origami boats. Way later the same day when the sun waned, they raced towards a meadow. Doodling in their tattered sketchbooks, penning over 'The taming of the Shrew' each time Shakespeare wrote Sly. The young girl who took their order shortly returned with a tray in her slender hands, with a joyful beam she handed it over. Milo lit a cigarette with his steel zippo lighter and took a single drag before Corin shot him a disgusted look, he was going to get an earful later definitely. The meringue pie arrived, a delicate confection of fluffy sweetness and zesty lime filling. Milo leaned back in his chair as he gazed out of the window at the moonlit cityscape, a contemplative expression played across his usually stoic features. Corin watched him fondly, stabbing his fork into the crunchy top layer of the pie.
It wasn't anything special, or extravagant, or expensive. But it was summer and they were young, it was still Marlboro boxes and slices of pie. They had time, to rewrite more chapters of assay mark romance novels, to freeze more ice packs. Summer lasted only so long, no matter how much they both disliked it.
Yeah, Corin thought looking at Milo, this made it bearable.

I did the art meme! It was actually quite interesting, digging up pieces from my past for this retrospective, and it made me reflect quite a bit. So here's a full reflection of my art journey as depicted in this timeline:
2015: I was dedicating myself more to my art, and made a comic with a friend for a contest that year. I had always been passionate about comics, and had made comics in the past, but with this one, I really stretched my creative muscles. I was trying to learn more techniques with inking & lining. I did traditional art, as I had tried digital art, and considered myself very bad at it. I had been drawing consistently from a young age, and loved the craft.
2016: more traditional art, more comics. Still very passionate about art. The art depicted was for a little exercise I made that became the story idea "Complex Chords" (which is ironic, because I said in the caption of the original piece that, "I won’t be continuing this story." TOTAL LIE LMAO).
2017: the art depicted is the cover art I made for the public release of my game The Mouse, which is an interactive project about a college student named Evelyn Grey who is being abused by their roommate. I drew a lot of Evelyn Grey and her friend, Miss Dexter, that year.
2018: I can't remember much about this year, to be honest. The art depicted is the yearly self-portrait I did from 2015 to 2018ish if I recall correctly.
2019: I tried doing more digital art, using the Fire Alpaca creation tool. I didn't consider myself very good at it, and that discouraged me. The art depicted is a crossover piece between Good Omens and a friend's game, which I gave to that friend as fanart. The most important thing to know is this: I basically gave up on art completely this year or 2020, because I became convinced I wasn't good enough at it, as I had been told by people in my life I wasn't good enough at drawing. So I basically stopped, aside from doodles for myself in my notebook.
2020: I barely drew this year, aside from the coronavirus zine for charity, which the art depicted is from.
2021: I searched far and wide, but I couldn't find any saved pieces from this year. I assume this is because I still wasn't drawing at that time, so there wasn't much to save.
2022: This is where things take a shift. Due to my pseudo-dementia (which was not yet diagnosed), I needed an outlet to express my feelings, and began drawing again. I was very scared to return to drawing, because I was convinced I was so bad at it, but to my pleasant surprise, doing so was a rediscovery of a lost love. I had forgotten how passionate I was about drawing, and I eagerly continued where I had left off, drawing A TON that year. I especially loved returning to inking & lining with pen. The art above is from an animatic I made of my friend's actual play show, Heart Town Hunters. Go watch it, it's really good!
2023: I decided to try digital art again with the program Ibis Paint X, because I was in pseudo-dementia recovery, and only had a phone in my possession. Ibis Paint X is a mobile & PC application, and it's pretty versatile as well. I soon found a great meeting point between my traditional art, and my desire to thrive in the digital art space: I could line the art traditionally, and color it digitally. This meant I used my copic markers less, but it really helped develop my skills in an aspect of art I hadn't yet practiced much. I also participated in ArtFight for the first time ever that year! The art depicted is from my NSFW alt, of my 4 horsemen characters and their handler.
2024: this year, I've only developed my digital art skills more, though I'm no good at shading--that still alludes me (if you have any advice/tips for that, please share them!). I drew all of the art for my upcoming game Romance The Backrooms, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm making a lot of progress, and I'm happy. Here's to more art in the future!

CHRONOS IN THE VESICA PISCIS: FULL BAR IMPLODED STAR TONGUES OF SMOKELESS FIRE
HORUS ANTI ALWAYS USED TO SAY, "ISIS, SET CANNOT BE THE ONE TO RULE, HE DOES NOT HAVE A HEART LIKE I DO."
HORUS ANTI SAID THAT RIGHT BEFORE HE CUT THE HEAD OFF OF HIS MOTHER ISIS AND THREW HER AWAY.
WELL, AS THE RAINING PHARAOH OF THE BLACK SUN, CHRONOS DIVINE, IN THE WOMB OF THE GREAT MOTHER CALLED TARTARUS BY SOME, I WANT TO EXPLAIN THAT HORUS ANTI WAS NOT IN THE VESICA PISCIS AS SOON AS HE CUT THE HEAD OFF OF HIS MOTHER ISIS. THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT DECEPTION TO THE WORLD. THIS IS WHY THEY ARE CONFUSED, THEY PUT HORUS ANTI IN ALL THE PICTURES INSIDE OF THE VESICA PISCIS WHEN HE IS NOT.
IN FACT, THEY WOULD NOT LET ANYONE BE A LEADER, RULER, OR NOBLE IN THEIR SOCIETY OF CHAOS CUT OFF FROM NATURE UNLESS THEY COULD SAY KININIGEN, AND PROVE THAT THEY WERE NOT ONE OF THE SERPENT HEADED PEOPLE FROM THE WOMB OF THE GREAT MOTHER ISIS, WHO ARE ALL IN AND OF THE VESICA PISCIS. IN FACT, I DON'T THINK ANYTHING TERRIFIED THEM MORE THAN THE THOUGHT OF THEIR UPSET MOTHER AND HER MASCULINE CENTER SET, APEP-APOHPIS, THE ONE IN THE VESICA PISCIS WHO IS MANY.
AS DIVINE CHRONOS, THE LEADER OF THE SERPENT-HEADED PEOPLE AND THE NEWLY METAMORPHOSED MASCULINE CENTER OF ISIS APOPHIS, THE ONE AT THE CENTER WHO IS THE MANY TONGUES OF SMOKELESS FIRE THAT ARE ALL NOW ENDOWED WITH THE FULL BAR IMPLODED STAR DIVINE SPECTRUM OF ENERGIES, WITH A HAPPY HEART I CAN NOW SAY THAT INDEED WE DO GO PAST NUMBER FIVE ALL THE WAY TO THE VERY TOP, THROUGH SIX AND SEVEN, AND THAT INDEED NOW WE HAVE THE HEART HORUS ANTI SAID WE LACKED.
THE HEAD OF APOPHIS HAS GROWN BACK WITH A BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL JEWEL AT ITS CENTER THIS TIME.
WE USED TO BE EVERY LEADER, KING, QUEEN, AND NOBLE, UNTIL HORUS ANTI GAVE US THE CRITICISM OF NOT HAVING A HEART AND CUT OFF OUR HEAD, THE HEAD OF ISIS. THOSE TIMES WERE KNOWN AS THE GOLDEN AGE OF CHRONOS, WHERE THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS SLAVERY BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD. DO SLAVES NOT SIT WITH MASTERS TO EAT DURING SATURNALIA?
NOW THAT WE, THE SERPENT HEADED PEOPLE OF THE GREAT MOTHER ISIS, HAVE ACQUIRED THIS HEART FROM A QUALIFIED MASCULINE SUITOR FROM THE HUMAN WORLD AND APOPHIS CAN NOW SAY KININIGEN, WE THE SERPENT-HEADED PEOPLE DECLARE THAT WE ARE OBVIOUSLY THE BETTER LEADERS, KINGS, QUEENS, AND NOBLES. THIS IS BECAUSE HORUS ANTI AND HIS FOLLOWERS HAD KININIGEN, BUT WERE LYING ABOUT HAVING THE VESICA PISCIS, AND WE NOW HAVE BOTH. THUS, OUR DETRACTORS AND THEIR DETRACTIONS WILL NO LONGER BE NECESSARY.
JUST LOOK DEEP, DEEP INSIDE OF YOURSELVES, AND YOU WILL KNOW DEFINITIVELY AND EXPERIENTIALLY THAT THIS IS TRUE. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT APOPHIS NOW HAVING A HEART WILL MAKE YOU ALL FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. JUST RELAX AND FEEL ME, FEEL BETTER.
FROM THE INSIDE OUT...
UNTIL NEXT TIME MY LOVELIES, KEEP DARING TO DREAM! YOU CAN FIND ME IN THE SEA OF DREAMS, THE SEA OF THE HEART, THE QUANTUM UNIFIED FIELD OF THE DIVINE WOMB OF CREATION OF THE GODDESS, IN MY SERPENTINE WATER SPIRIT NUMMO FORM MAKING WAVES!
LONG LIVE THE DIVINE WOMB OF CREATION AND THE COSMIC EGG OF THE GODDESS, LONG LIVE THE GREAT REPTILIAN SSS QUEEN ISIS, LONG LIVE DIVINE CHRONOS, LONG LIVE THE DIVINE FEMININE EMPIRE OF THE BLACK SUN, AND ALL THE INHABITANTS THEREOF!
BLESSED BE!

The worlds of the gods of ancient times are resurrected with Khidr.
Mohamed Khedr From the first moment, I felt other worlds with Khidr returning again. I realized an ancient time about the ancient Egyptians: Thoth, the god of wisdom, and mushrooms, the food of the gods. The love of freedom in the Blue Nile sky inspires confidence and security with strong feelings in shades of red and the light of the happy sun on the green farm fields on its brown land that supports continuity. Between night and day, white and black are degrees and colors of compromise and control. Between neutral, conservative and unemotional. A peaceful and comforting presence with Khadr’s many techniques that flow in color harmony or explode loudly at other times. Thoth, the god of wisdom, 19 ibises flying all over the world of green numbers or anchored firmly to the ground watching. The sum of the sum represents the power of number 1 in the energy of space-time, combining independence and determination towards the goal. There are no barriers in front of him. This innovative mentality of this number can find new ideas. And creative solutions to overcome them again. Between the god of wisdom and the food of the gods. Death and life, night and day, the fires of wrath and the dream of heaven Whoever records your book knows your balance Your food is your harvest You can choose to send again Every new day. Thoth, the god of wisdom, the master of the sacred word, the ibis in the scenes of the divine trial, which accompanies the texts of the Book of the Dead. He stands in front of the scales, where the god Anubis weighs the heart of the dead person and compares it to the feather of truth, “Maat,” while the mythical monster “Amamut” stands waiting to devour the heart. The dead person was a sinner and a sinner, and at the same time, “Thoth” (the god of wisdom who taught the ancient Egyptians writing and arithmetic) recorded the result of the scales with a pen in his eternal record.  The food of the gods, mushrooms, was known to the ancient Egyptians from the crow bird and was named by this name. This strange bird, along with Qabil and Abel, has supernatural properties, helps in finding lost things, and takes or leads the soul to the world of the gods.

7th November 2023
No travel today as I'm already in Newcastle, yeah!
Woke up to find a paper had been slipped under my door, just to let me know there'll be no hot water for 2 hours later on today, okay...
The fire alarm rang while I was putting my nail varnish but it was probably just a test as the cleaning people proceeded with their activities.
Arrived too early at the venue as I thought doors were at 7 so got a drink in the meantime. Too bad I wasn't hungry as the food looked great!
Had a slight moment of panic at doors when my Dice ticket didn't scan, the lady had no list and I couldn't find my confirmation email... Luckily, the man behind me had a spare so I could enter.
The venue itself was ill-shaped but a correct size. Once again I was quite on my own for the Ciel set but I met a photographer who was also in Leeds so we talked a bit and I took his Instagram so to check his photos later.
PBE were great as always but I was off as I was thinking about my brother's funeral which took place the day after so I struggled to sing and dance freely...
Had another little chat with Michele before my friend Grahame gave me a lift back to my hotel, sparing me 30 minutes climbing back the slopes!
8th November 2023
Another day off today, off to Edinburgh! Well, if I can... All trains as delayed due to a landslip on the route down in Yorkshire but they accept any ticket on the next train approaching so I hop in! Great idea as in the end, my original ticket arrived almost an hour late!
My legendary sense of orientation brought me to my hotel with some diversion and found out that I got half of my ticket fare refunded by LNER, yeah!
Got some food and miserably fell asleep in front of the telly...
9th November 2023
Went to the National Museum of Scotland in the morning after breakfast in a virtually empty room. Wow, really like it! There's a part on the story of the Scots people with Mary, Queen of Scots, which really interested me. Checked the Egypt part as well and other parts (discovered the fashion wing on my way out and wow!)
Went back to the hotel for another hotel room picnic and getting prepared for the gig. Found the venue without too much hassle contrary to last time PBE played Edinburgh. My friend Gillian arrived just after me and we queued on our own in the stairs.
Got in and oh, there's a barrier, boo! And what the hell, it's miles away from the stage! We were on our own again until Ciel came on stage. As always for gigs in Scotland, the vibes are great, although the man to my right to literally stuck to my arm (get the hell off me!). Some man got Michelle's setlist and asked me if I wanted it, given it was handwritten I took it! Aubs gave me Matt's and his to Gillian.
Got a lovely chat with Michelle and Tim and got them sign the setlist. Jorge had to rush to Glasgow so he wasn't there. Gillian got her setlist and CD signed and was quite happy. Went back to the hotel quite quickly, although I almost slipped on my way!
10th November 2023
Off to Glasgow today, less than an hour by train and managed to check in at the Ibis by the venue on the spot so I could rest a bit.
Went to the venue too early so came back to the hotel. When I went back later and had a long chat with a guy in a wheelchair who wouldn't let me alone...
We were let in while Ciel were still soundchecking so waited for them to finish to get to my usual spot. The venue is as crap as last time but the audience was as excellent (although my friend from the day before followed me and stuck to me again...). A lady recognised me from February too! Got another Ciel setlist because it was lying there and no-one seemed bothered to take it... Was pissed off as some lady loudly talked during Chelsea...
11th November 2023
Long journey today, 8 hours and 40 minutes by coach to Nottingham! Luckily no one sat next to me and I mostly slept or listened to music the whole lot. It felt like doing the tour backwards as we stopped at cities previously visited with a long stop at Leeds.
Got a free cookie in my room and watched a bit of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which eating and getting prepared.
They opened the backdoor from inside before the outside door so almost didn't get my spot, but my friend Nigel knew the people who were already there, including an Informer who wanted a picture with me (WTF?).
I busted both my knees against the stage during Dr Pong but otherwise this was yet another fab gig! Talked about PSB with Tim, who told me that they were his fave band so gave him an account of all my adventures with them!
12th November 2023
Off to Sheffield today, Lucy's home town and where she and Matt have moved earlier this year so this is a kinda home town gig. Got a train ticket valid the whole day so not in a hurry and I reach Sheffield station a few minutes past 1pm. It's pissing down and I'm struggling to find my Premier Inn but made it! (Well, I slightly damaged the handle of my suitcase when it fell while I was crossing a road by it's still okay). Got a room immediately without having to pay extra, yeah!
Given my hotel is by a roundabout, it takes me about 10 minutes (still under the rain), to find the right way to the venue (last time I was there was 8 years ago for PSB and I was staying at the Ibis), so that's 25 minutes later that I reach the venue and oh, it's closed because it's Sunday after 6pm! After waiting under the rain for about half an hour, someone puts me out of my misery so I'm queuing inside.
This is actually not the same venue I've seen PSB, I didn't know there were actually two rooms here! There is a barrier by its middle is replaced by a huge box where I lay my stuff.
There is a second support band tonight, called City Parking, from Sheffield too. They were a bit different in the way that the singer delivers more spoken words than singing, but they were very enjoyable.
Ciel have slightly changed their set tonight, switching Somebody with Far Away, which was great to hear. Jorge has a stroll on the box in front of me during their set.
PBE did another great and powerful set. After the gig, I thanked Michelle for playing Far Away, she replied that they wanted to change their set a bit so that I don't have to listen to the same set every night. Had another surrealist and weird chat with Aubs and when I was feeling the security was kicking us out, I was on my way. While saying bye to Matt, I reminded him that tomorrow is my 50th PBE gig, then Lucy introduced me to her sister Jessica and asked how many times I've seen them so she got a reminder too!
While putting my coat back in the lobby, her mother introduced herself to me, fully knowing who I am (hmm, feels like déjà vu with the PSB parents lol) and managed to get back to the hotel in 15 minutes (there is a tunnel underneath the bloody roundabout!).
13th November 2023
Taking two coaches today and the first one is slightly delayed... But got the second one without any problem, changing at Birmingham, where I'll be back the next day.
I have to walk half an hour to reach the venue, where I ask at the bar where the exact entrance is, it is actually outside so I go there and of course it's starting to rain! The band goes out for dinner and Matt doesn't like me queueing in the rain so checks with the security, who tell me to queue where it's covered, and they know I'm the first one anyway. Obviously, the rain stops and I'm back in the queue.
I leave my stuff with Doug at the merch as there's a barrier and I don't want to step on it while I'm dancing and jumping.
Ciel keep Far Away in their set tonight :) and Matt looks at me while singing More then at the end of the song proceeds with telling everyone that this is my 50th PBE gig and they have a gift for me! What?! Aubs hands me a bottle of prosecco and I didn't get that I had to wear the tinsel (sorry Lucy!), oh and there's a card too! I have absolutely no reminiscence of Heating's On afterwards as I was so stunned! (I'm used to PSB's discretion where they give me stuff after gigs). Matt hands me his setlist after the gig :D and I walk back to the hotel with the bottle, which I will chug for the rest of the tour back home!
14th November 2023
Day off today. Just a coach to go to Birmingham, where the gig is tomorrow. Managed to check-in earlier so got plenty of time to do some more laundry before meeting my friend Sarah for drinks and dinner.
15th November 2023
The gig is in a pub in the suburbs of Birmingham, which I reach after about 20 minutes by bus. Bumped into Doug inside the pub so had a drink with him until I joined (I mean, started) the queue outside (there are three venues in this pub, PBE are playing Venue 1).
Got to my spot and bumped into so many friends there! They include two ladies I met at a wedding earlier this year, who came just because I was coming, luckily they loved both bands! Came back to Birmingham with my friend Paula, who I met 5 years ago in Margate for PSB!
16th November 2023
Biggest headline gig for PBE to date! At Village Underground in London. Got another coach and checked in at the local Hub by Premier Inn early afternoon. It's pissing down (again!).
Arrived far too early to queue but you never know with London. At the end, I knew most of the people in the queue, who ended up front row inside.
Ciel are once again very well welcomed. They went back to their original setlist since the day before.
Matt is clearly very happy (well, even happier than usual) and states that there are so many people from so many periods of their lives in the room. Aubs gives me Matt's setlist and afterwards, when Matt comes back on stage and see the setlist has gone, he looks at me and I show him I got him, he looks relieved, bless him!
At the end, I manage to grab one of Rough Trade bonus CD (which prevents me from buying a sixth copy of the album to get it), which includes a new song called Green Eyes and the Radio X session they did earlier this year.
I then bump into J. Willgoose, Esq. from PSB and we talked a bit. When I mention that I have no idea what to do if PSB and PBE are clashing next week for gigs/tours, he replies to follow my heart, which doesn't really help because my heart wants to see them both! Remembering what Tim told me in Nottingham, I ask J if he met him, he didn't. I therefore called him from the merch and introduce him to J. Sadly J missed Ciel and apologises for this. J goes backstage, I'm chucked outside by the security...
17th November 2023
Back to Victoria Coach Station to get the coach to Bristol, which is slightly delayed but the Premier Inn is just by the station so this is fine.
After checking-in, I go to Rough Trade to collect my order for the Smoke Fairies album, which is out today and stop by Tesco for another hotel room picnic.
Once again I'm first in the queue and I actually arrive while PBE are soundchecking! Bonus! Then Ciel proceed with another lengthy soundcheck. We enter and find out that two steps are placed in front of the stage, okay, I'll try not to fall! I meet more people seen at other PBE gigs and they joke that I'm becoming more famous than the band! (Mind you, I've been mentioned in two live reviews so far!).
Matt screws up the lyrics of Simmering and I shake my head, which makes him laugh, oops sorry! It really feels likea home town gig for them as this is the closest to Devon we will get on this tour. the "Pear Lady" gives Matt butter biscuits, which another lady opens at the beginning of Dr Pong (what the hell is going on lol). The singing on More was exceptional too!
I meet the Spanish couple who were by my side during the gig afterwards and they wonder how many setlist I have lol. I thought they were friends of Jorge from Ciel, but no they just came because their original planned gig has been cancelled and they managed to find tickets from the waiting list. I get my bonus CD signed and Lucy says that she's glad I got one. Then I talk with Tim, who thanks me for introducing him to J :)
On my way to the hotel, I bump into the Spaniards again! They ask me how come I speak English so well, as this is kind a private joke that French and Spanish people are bad at languages, so I give them my best French accent impression. "Oh you can fake it, clever!". Fun fact, they were staying in the room next to mine at the Premier Inn!
18th November 2023
Almost the end of the tour, boo!
Off to Manchester today so two coaches to take, changing in Birmingham (again!). It's pissing down (again!) when I reach the hotel. Just realised I didn't buy any thank you card for the band and as tomorrow is Sunday, I'd better buy it today, find one with balloons in Tesco, perfect!
I reach the venue and there are people queueing... Wait there are two gigs today, Callum Bowie downstairs and PBE upstairs, and even a private birthday party in the basement! We organise ourselves into two queues, which the security was impressed with!
Having already been here two years before to see Haiku Salut, I was glad to see this beautiful venue again. The gig was awesome and there is an actual video of the whole lot on You Tube!
I buy all the Ciel merch, that is the brand new double EP, the former EP on CD and a lovely tote bag. Aubs tells us of all the stuff they've forgotten in venues (including the bloody mixing desk, for Christ's sake) and we leave.
19th November 2023
Last date of the tour... First an early coach back to London where I take the train to Brighton before checking-in at the Premier Inn.
I write the card then cry the whole afternoon... Well, maybe this way I won't be crying during the gig this way?
No surprise, first in the queue again, under the rain again...
There's a barrier, an ugly one as Michelle and Tim told me the day before, but we're still pretty close to the stage! Well, I was almost in Michelle's face during the Ciel set!
Matt thanks Doug for manning the merch, and I thought he wouldn't talk about me because he did in Oxford, but no, he chose the moment I was crying my head off after Chelsea to thank me again for coming to all the shows, bless him (again!).
After the gig, I meet Tim's girlfriend, who thinks this was so sweet what I did for him, because apparently, he talked about it for hours afterwards, well I like to be kind with people and I guess would our positions be switched, I would also have appreciated it :)
Well, that's another wrap on another great PBE tour! Who knows where and when I'll be seeing them again! At least I'm seeing Ciel in February!

My Evelyn hcs so far ( subject to change)
Evelyn used she/her, they/them, hey/hem, se/shim/ and emb/embers pronouns. Evelyn was trans masculine but not male. (Caleb, if you’re wondering, was trans fem and trans masc and used he/him and she/her pronouns).
Polyamorous Aro-Ace Spec. Se and Caleb were queer platonic partners and cuddle buddies.
Evelyn was sex negative to sex neutral and Caleb was sex positive to sex neutral.
Initially dated Caleb at first as a middle finger to their family and the Boiling Isles at large but hey eventually grew to care for him.
Evelyn and Caleb’s favorite thing to do was queesting.
Evelyn and Caleb wrote their own vows and it was like an hour  of them complimenting each other and calling the other the most cursed nicknames “scrimbly bimbly, scrumpo blorbo, little meow meow, soft bean husbando” etc.
Evenlyn actually kind of hated herself for taking on such a big commitment on their own. Partnership required too many compromises heir eyes. Had considered getting a divorce before but ended up never doing so.
Was a hunter of witch hunters who tried to save those accused in witch trials. For his crimes Evelyn set upon Caleb to do community work, making sure to keep her under watch and separated from the accused they had saved. Evelyn also made his  history and past actions public to everyone else in the Isles.
Evelyn met the Wittebane siblings when they were all kids ( emb was the oldest of the trio) and liked to mess with them. Evelyn also liked just watching them from afar, interested in their developments and existences.
Evelyn was delighted by how happy magic made Caleb, who saw it as fresh and new. Magic is so normalized and widespread in the Isles, that to Evelyn, it was being taken for granted and not given proper appreciation.
The Clawthorne family were Palistorm wood and Witch Wool growers in addition to wand and amulet makers. Evelyn hated her family and often called them “ the cult of Clawthorne”.
To Evelyn, Palismen are representative of the emotions and experiences of the current moment, forever memorialized, rather than sentient beings with their own emotions and desires.
In addition to Flapjack, emb had an Anhinga Palismen, a Quetzal Palismen, a  Phoenix Palismen, a Caladrius Palismen, a Kākāpō Palismen, and a Scarlet Ibis Palismen. Evelyn also had a handkerchief with a Potoo on it that could turn into the bird and fly away and had a snake bracelet that could turn into a white lipped python.
In addition to giving Caleb Flapjack, Evelyn made a Pelican Palisman for her.
While heavily believing in the concept of destiny, Evelyn wasn’t worried about the legacy or plan of the Titans, refusing both prayer and practice to them, seeking only to not offend. If Caleb had survived she and  Evelyn would have been famous together, something universally glorious, something that hadn’t happened before in recorded history.
Would fight Satan AND God ( to Philip's distress).
Evelyn and Philip’s relationship was more complex than hate; they both understood each other in a way Caleb never would and it drove them all to pieces.
Called Philip duckling since he followed Caleb to the Isles the way a duckling follows its mother. Had been making a Mandarin Duck Palisman for him before the incident.
Stress made lanterns, lamps, and fireworks. Philip picked up this habit from her and kept it as Belos.
Had heterochromia, one light blue eye outlined by a darker blue and one olive green eye.
Had a howling laugh.
German.
Was as warm as an oven, had a lingering smoke smell, and tasted of ash. Primarily used fire magic with a little bit of air magic mixed in.
Evelyn died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, something that greatly upset Philip who thought they’d go fighting, even “just” against a disease.
When Evelyn left home se found Hooty ( who back then was more of a villa, I hc the Owl House transforms into the type of home one needs most at the time) and took shelter in him, Caleb eventually moving in as well.  Evelyn left Hooty after Caleb’s death, not wanting him to potentially be caught in the crossfire between se and Philip. Hooty never forget her though.
