「Hikaru B-day LIVE 2024 -love Begets love-」

Today is Hikaru's birthday! YAY!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!🥳🥳🥳 I feel horrible for not having prepared anything. Usually I post at least a little edit or something on Twitter but today has been pretty crazy at work so I haven't really found the time to do anything T_T. Anyway, we got more than enough amazing photos from Hikaru's birthday live. Seems like it was a huge success. Lots of people were there to support Hikaru (most notably Joelle, ASUKA/Aira Yuuki and Hikaru's former composer Hideyuki Gushimiyagi). And of course, Keiko appeared as special guest during the live.

Ahhh! What a great setlist! Really wish I had been there for this!! Hearing them sing KSnSnw would have killed me for sure. That Hikaru cardboard cutout looks amazing! I want one for myself!! So cute how Keiko is hugging it🥹

Update: Finally had some time to go through everyone's comments and reactions on Twitter. A major highlight seems to have been Keiko mentioning Wakana after singing KSnSnw. While Hikaru tried to avoid saying Wakana's name (as she usually does), Keiko had no such qualms and casually name-dropped "Wa-chan". They talked about singing Kalafina songs and whether or not it's a cover when two members are performing. On one hand, it's not a cover because they literally ARE members of Kalafina but on the other hand, they often tend to call it a cover because it's not the real thing either. After all, the arrangement has had to be changed accordingly to make up for a missing member. Basically no one can or wants to replace Wakana (and her special voice) in Kalafina so if she's not there with them singing, it's just not the same.

Jamimayu: A Pair

A sequel to the fic You Remind Me for my dear friend Syder (@anbaisai) ♡ We don't want Mayugiri to get lonely, after all lol ♡ Enjoy! ♡

Jamil sat in his room, relaxing after a long day. His hair was down now, dressed in comfortable pajamas. He appreciated everyone celebrating his birthday, the gifts they gave him, their kind wishes. He felt like he couldn't go anywhere without someone bringing it up.

He was grateful to be alone now, enjoying the quiet while he could. He sighs in relief as his body hits the bed, laying on his sheets. He waits a moment before moving some of his pillows, grabbing the stuffed animal he hid behind them.

A plush onigiri, affectionately named Mayugiri, due to someone being unable to leave his thoughts...

A small smile comes to his face as he holds it above him, staring at the plush fondly. He turns to his side, hugging it to his chest as he enjoys the warmth it brings. The warmth of companionship, of someone dear, cradled in his arms. He feels like he can finally relax now, his breathing even as he shuts his eyes.

An image flashes in his mind, a voice echoing in his ears...

Mayu... he shakes the thought, curling in on the plush. He grips the onigiri tighter, as if the plush could ease his mind, a storm of conflicting emotions.

It all started when his roommate noticed the plush in question, surprised he would own something like it.

"It's apart of a series, you know!" His roommate informs him. "My family got one for my sister awhile back, she has the sakura mochi." His roommate tried to get a better look at the plush, though Jamil wouldn't let him, worried he might notice it's name.

"I see..." Jamil responds, doing his best to sound uninterested. He keeps his face blank, hoping his roommate will take the hint and drop the subject. Which he does... until the next day.

"Do you want another one?" His roommate asks suddenly, sitting near him in Scarabia's main room. The question makes Jamil pause, staring at him in confusion.

"Another what?" He questions, one of his eyebrow's raising.

"Stuffed animal! Like the onigiri you have." His roommate says, unaware of Jamil's horror at his words. His eyes widen as he glances around the room, making sure no one heard him. He resists the urge to cover his roommate's mouth, leaning in closer to make their conversation more private.

"DON'T... mention that, please..." He mutters, trying not to let his discomfort show. He couldn't let anyone find out about the plush, let alone Kalim...

Or Mayu, he thinks, the thought sitting in the back of his mind.

"Mention what?" His roommate asks, as if he's already forgotten their conversation.

"The... stuffed animal..." He mutters lowly, crossing his arms as he glances around the room once more.

"Oh, the onigiri! No need to be embarrassed, Viper. It's a very cute plu-." His roommate says simply, louder than he would have liked. He puts his hand over his mouth to cut him off, catching people's attention.

"THAT'S NOT THE-" He starts to shout, stopping once he feels eyes on him. He waits until the attention's off them before he continues, whispering to his roommate in frustration.

"... That's not the point. Look, just... don't mention the onigiri, alright?"

"Alright, alright.... but-"

"Don't."

He thought that would be the end of it, days going by without a word about the plush. He certainly wasn't expecting his roommate to remember, let alone...

He opens his eyes slowly, turning to the other side of his bed. He places Mayugiri beside him, moving a pillow to reveal another hidden plush, one he just got today.

They're a pair, his mind echoes his roommate's words, grabbing the plush gently. It looked like a plate of curry, it's face different from the other's in the series. While most were happy and smiling, the curry looked annoyed, with a side eye expression.

He was thankful his roommate gave it to him privately, having forgotten to bring his gift to Jamil's party. He knew that Jamil liked curry, and thought the plush was fitting, especially since...

They're a pair, his roommate's words echo again. He named the curry plush after Jamil, getting it an accessory that had 'Jamicurry' embroidered on it. He rolled his eyes at the name, but knew he had no reason to talk, Mayugiri flashing in his mind.

They're a pair, he thinks to himself, setting the curry plush next to Mayugiri.

They're a pair, his mind repeats as if on loop, staring at the stuffed animals with a racing heart.

"They're a pair..." He mutters without thinking, closing his eyes as Mayu flashes before him, his thoughts going elsewhere.

They're a pair, they're a pair... Oh, to be a pair...

He can deny himself as much as he wants, but just this once...

He keeps Mayugiri and Jamicurry together, sitting side by side near his head. In the morning he'll hide them away, under the many pillows on his bed. Hidden like the feelings in his heart, buried deep in his chest...

He wonders if they could be a pair too, someday... ♡

Explaining Yuki and Mayu's birthdays!

As you know I'm pretty fixated with finding out hidden meanings in Precure birthday dates (as Japan has a whole variety of national days which most of the time is related to a character's bday). Let's find out!

Yuki: December 21st - winter solstice, this one is pretty easy and straightforward. Yuki's main theme is all based around snow and winter.

Mayu: November 5th - Elizabeth's feast day. This one was a bit tricky for me. I checked some Japanese "national day of" sites and nothing was really tied to Mayu's personality unless there are some parts of it that have not been revealed yet (just to name a few: world tsunami awareness day, couple matchmaking day, magazine advertisement day, good apple day, good yeast day, Japanese language day). The only plausible reason on why this day was chosen is that November 5th is the Christian feast day of Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist, and the name Lilian is an hypocoristic of the name Elizabeth. Also Lilian's name day can be celebrated on the Elizabeth's feast day. Yeah Precure can get religious. Correction (maybe?): I scrolled through Twitter's reposts in search for some Japanese user with much better experience than me on said culture and more than one person seem to be certain about Mayu's bday sharing the same day as the matchmaking day. Matchmaking day is a day in Japanese folklore in which the gods gathers in specific shrines to give people love and happiness mostly to lovers and married couples, but also in the hope that everyone will be healthy, prosperous and in harmony with each other. This might be a reference to Cure Lillian's line about forming bonds across the world.

Slow Damage: Clean Dishes Epilogue 4, 5 & 6 Summary

It has been a while! I summarized the first three epilogues some time ago, but because I’ve been very busy I haven’t had much time lately to summarize the remaining three epilogues. Unlike the first ones, the other three are less dark and focus on the main characters spending time together and having fun. I thought it would be a good idea to write a few shorter summaries and combine them into one blog post.

Epilogue 4 It has been two years since the Hare’s Nest Incident. Shiro realizes it's Baku's birthday, but isn't sure how to celebrate it this year. Last year he bought him a birthday cake and they watched movies together, but this year he wants to do something more special. Baku however, doesn't care much about his own birthday and even forgets about it every year. This year is no different and Baku once again doesn't seem to care much, so Shiro decides to visit Roost. Shiro asks Kotarou, Mayu and Eiji birthday gift advice, but Mayu just mentions that he’s happy with merchandise of his favorite anime. Kotarou mentions liking alcohol and accessories, and Eiji, well… says that he’s fine with receiving anything he likes, so in the end Shiro’s still wondering what he should give to Baku...

He ends up taking him to Krishna (the restaurant you also visit in the main game) because they sell a lot of different kinds of beer, which Baku likes. After enjoying their food and drinks there together, they return home and Shiro gives Baku a book, featuring many illustrations by an artist Baku mentioned liking before. The game often hints that Baku is interested in art, but he usually looks at it online and doesn't usually buy things for himself. Shiro ends up telling him he asked Eiji and the others for advice, as he sometimes still doesn't know how to make people happy. In the past, he only used his body to make people happy, but now he's also trying to find other ways. As expected, Baku laughs and mentions how Shiro doesn’t really need to do anything special. Just being with Shiro is enough, but he’s happy that Shiro wanted to do something special for him.

Epilogue 5 Two years have passed since the Hare’s Nest Incident, and Shiro and Baku started living together. Before they started dating, Shiro hooked up with random men and didn’t return to his apartment often. Baku had been to his apartment once before, and said it looked more like a garbage storage room than a place where someone lived. After Shiro moved in with him, they slowly started learning more about each other’s hobbies. For example, Baku is interested in various art forms, such as special effect make-up and sculptures. Shiro likes collecting clothes and small, cute items. Shiro also likes singing, and Baku noticed he’s quite good at it too. While drinking coffee at a cafe one day, Baku suggests that Shiro could maybe even start his own band if he's interested. Shiro replies that he only wants to do it if Baku joins too, even though he has no experience playing an instrument. Shiro then suggests Ruu and Kimika also join his new band and invites them over. By the way, Kimika seems to have blonde hair again in this epilogue, but in the drama CD Ruu mentions he liked the blonde hair, so maybe he dyed it again? Anyway, seems like at least Kimika has some experience playing the guitar, but Ruu also has no experience. Shiro suggests they learn how to play an instrument and Ruu becomes the drummer and Baku the bassist. And that’s how their band activities started...

With the help of Kimika and Shiro, Baku and Ruu eventually learn some basic skills how to play these instruments. Eventually, they decide that they finally want to play some songs in front of an audience, but Shiro realizes he doesn’t really have any other friends he could invite… Luckily, Kimika suggests contacting the Roost manager, and maybe they could play some songs in front of the customers there.

Some weeks later, it's the day of the concert. They all bought some new outfits and Kimika also offers to do everyone's makeup. The concert ends up becoming quite the success and more than 30 people showed up. Eiji, Kotarou and Mayu are also impressed and share their positive feedback with the group.

I have to admit... that this is absolutely not what I expected to happen after the game’s ending, but it's quite interesting to learn more about their hobbies (?). They do mention that the concert is a one-time only kind of thing, but everyone did enjoy the experience, so who knows!

Epilogue 6 It has been six months since Kimika was released from prison, and all four of them continued woking at Sara-ya. With the death of the Takasato-gumi boss and many other incidents, Shinkoumi was in a state of chaos for a while, but things are slowly calming down. During one of their lunch breaks, the four of them started discussing the topic of vacation. It seems like Shiro and Baku usually stay indoors during summer, but Kimika and Ruu really want to travel to the mainland to visit the beach there. Baku and Shiro agree to join, even though Shiro has never been to the mainland before and Baku hasn’t been back there since he was a kid.

A month later, they finally prepare for their trip. Baku is a bit worried about Shiro because he has never left Shinkoumi before. After a one hour flight and a bus ride, they finally arrive at the inn where they will be staying for the next four days. They decide to drop off their luggage and then meet up with Ruu and Kimika near the beach. Shiro feels a little bit dizzy because of the heat, but he ends up having a great time playing in the water together with the others. They spend the next couple of days visiting shrines, climbing a mountain and all kinds of other activities they had never done before. This epilogue is probably the most light-hearted one of them all...! But it is nice seeing them have fun together.

At the end of their trip, Shiro starts teasing Ruu and Kimika again, wanting to know what kind of relationship they have now. Ruu claims there’s nothing going on and Kimika doesn't reply (those who listened to the drama CD know that’s a lie…). He then changes the topic and says he heard Baku and Shiro doing inappropriate things in the open-air bath. Both of them just nod "ah you found out..." and then the bus arrives to take them back to the airport. After that they return to Shinkoumi and the game mentions that this is the end of Clean Dishes's story for now. Shiro thinks that until Baku finally kills him, their life won't change much in the future.

And that's the end! Not much to say about some of these because they are pretty short, but I am always happy to see Kimika and Ruu in these epilogues too. Of course there's also the drama CD content, which kind of takes place in-between some of these epilogues. Right now I don't have any plans of summarizing/translating it, but maybe someone will do this in the future. By the way, all three of these epilogues have a new r18 scene, so I suggest buying them if you want to see them! I'm not able to upload these anywhere.
