i feel like pride month is the perfect time to reminisce on two instances i've had of coming out, one very negative and one very positive.
negative: (very transphobic, you've been warned) coming from a trans girl: "you can't be "genderfluid" you're ruining all the work we've put in because you're a straight girl that wants to be special. you're not really trans so don't act like you are."
rating: -10/10, still to this day i feel uncomfortable identifying with the trans community and calling myself trans or even genderfluid, i just say i'm genderqueer abd get nervous when other people call me trans bc i don't want anyone to call me out and then everyone think i'm some imposter
positive: coming from my brothers: "we don't care who your bring home as long as they're not ugly. you can do better than that."
rating: 100/10, no notes. also had a lasting impact but that impact is making me giggle when i remember it
