Anne is always excited for date night, and especially when date night continues past the night into the next few days. They have so many places plotted out they want to see or visit, with not nearly enough time in the trip to do so, but hey that just means you’ll have to take them back! Their excitement is truly palpable the days leading up to the trip and they call you before bed each night talking about all the things they had packed, the sights they looked forward to seeing, and how happy they were that you planned such a perfect trip for the two of you.

Being in the car with Anne was never dull, especially when they were your passenger princess. The music was loud, the beats fast as they sung along with their angelic voice, their bright smile keeping you focused on getting to your destination. Anything interesting they observed along the road they pointed it out to you, describing them in great detail as you, being a responsible driver, wouldn’t look away from the road for a moment.

Anne would prefer a trip to a different town or city but wouldn’t turn their nose down at nature. There’s something to appreciate about the quiet of the woods, though they’d prefer there being a trailer rather than a tent to stay the night in. Seeing the stars so clear in the sky and being able to roast marshmallows together (one meal that tasted delicious when charred) made them appreciate the night away from it all, having you promise to travel with them more often as it’s the most fun they’ve had in a while.

For birthdays and anniversaries, Maru and Penny will ask that you get home early, and get ready to go into town

You’ll shower, dress up a little more than usual, and walk to the Saloon

Maru and Penny reserve the private dining space, because the volume of the saloon is a little much when you’re looking for something intimate and personal

Gus is always happy to have you, and goes out of his way to make sure your dinner goes smoothly

He gives free desserts and drinks, as well, and will bring them to you with a grin

When dinner is finished, and you’ve all gone home, Penny and Maru will sit you down in the living room, and bring you their gifts

Penny typically goes for sentimental pieces, like annotated books and trinkets that hint at an inside joke or two, paired with heartfelt letters

Maru is less sappy, but just as sincere with her gifts

She’ll commonly gift you with machines she’s built to make your lives easier, or the occasional items she caught you staring at a little too long during your trips to the city

After presents, you’ll watch movies for a portion of the night, and when the light of day finally fades away, Maru and Penny will drag you up to the loft

“The loft” used to be the attic of the farmhouse, until Robin deconstructed the walls and the ceiling into an open air space, and cut out some bits of the roof to account for the windows to make some skylights

Cushioned with plenty of blankets and pillows that Penny thrifted or made herself, it’s a pretty cozy space

But you’ll climb up the ladder steps as a trio, and make yourselves comfortable

You always take the middle, with Maru and Penny on either side of you

There's several personalized things up there, like the mini bookshelf Penny and Maru use for their books (Maru loves her academic books, and Penny fills her shelves with classic and modern literature of all genres)

There's also a spot up there for your pets, and plenty of potted plants for extra greenery

Maru and Penny's favorite part of the loft is the bedded space, however

But anyway

Maru has her telescope up there, and (weather allowing) Maru will open one of the windows and you’ll stargaze

Sometimes Penny makes up stories for constellations, or tells you the stories she does know

You’ll point out stars or clouds of color in the night sky, and Maru will tell you exactly what they are, how they form, and she can tell you what they’re named, as well

But on the days where the weather isn’t so perfect, and the stars are obscured, the windows will stay closed, and you’ll watch the rain pitter against the glass or the lightning arc across the sky

On those days, you’ll talk about anything, everything

Or, if you prefer the quiet, Maru and Penny are content to just lay back and enjoy the sky with you

If your birthday or anniversary is in the winter, and the window has frosted over, then Penny will read to you

She always lets you pick the book you want her to read, and if you're feeling cheeky, you'll make her read one of those really sappy romance books she loves so much

Penny can never get through a reading without blushing like a madwoman, even later on in your marriage

It gives you and Maru more ammo to tease her, later ;)

You'll stay up there for the rest of the night, in a giant cuddle pile, sleeping comfortably in each other's arms

It’s safe, and cozy, and you wouldn't have it any other way

the embarrassing truth is that my goal as a writer is to be able to write a work of fiction as compelling and well-crafted as the bolthole

but also pretty much everything i've read and enjoyed has influenced my writing to an extent! it's hard to pin down exact influences. anne carson and ocean vuong are definitely up there.

i feel like the common answer to this question is "lack of paragraph formatting" or some other structural/grammatical concern but BOOO BORING!!!! that's not an Actual answer. however unfortunately i'm not very picky and i'm also easily persuadable.... this is harry potter fanfiction nothing is ever that sacred. though i will say i have clicked out of fics for not having top/bottom dynamics that fit with my vision

today it's my granny's bday. she passed away in July - she would be 93 today - after being sick for quite sometime. and i guess im feeling it particularly bc life has been absurd and i didnt have much time for processing when it happened - i had to help mum sort out stuff before and after the funeral, uni exams of course didn't stop for me. like, i realized i have troubles dealing with it bc i gathered the courage to watch the last video mum took of her - the day before she passed - only yesterday and it hurt so bad. anyway, i don't want to wallow in painful memories so ill tell you some of the happy ones <3

me and my grandma were very close; she lived with me while i was growing up and we used to share a room; she had her quirks, mind you, my sister and her would fight a lot and, as always, i was left to placate both of them lol but the thing is, she was always ready to listen. when i came back from school, i would tell her all about my day and my friends. in the last months i needed to repeat her stuff bc her memory failed her a bit. and she helped me as far as she could with school or, when she wasn't able bc she finished school at 15, she would listen. And she was so interested in what I was learning! Istg I prepared a whole ass exam about linguistics and she wanted to hear all about it! When I had exams, she would comfort me the day before and she was the first person I would call after bc I knew she would be waiting anxiously for me to call. Actually, I had an exam at the end of July and I got the top mark (30 e lode, which I guess is A+? Idk) and I had to stop myself from calling her number, it was so automatic the routine we had.

When she could still read easily, we used to read books together; we read the Secret Garden and Wuthering Heights and Pride and Prejudice and Anne of Green Gables - the last one was the topic of my undergraduate dissertation which I dedicated to her.

AND my old lady was such a great football fan! NO BUT SERIOUSLY she wouldn't miss a match, we supported the same team of course and she would get fond of players too LMAO the night she was hospitalised, I remember she didn't want to leave home because - and I quote - she was busy watching the Champions League. I get it from her. In fact, this year, chances are that my team could win the league after 30+ years and it's bittersweet, you know? Knowing that she isn't there to enjoy it.

Anyway, I'm typing this while I'm waiting at the hairdresser - she liked my hair long and was sad when I cut it but anyway she believed it suited me - and tomorrow I'm taking a plane to Belgium to visit a friend; I'm telling you bc I can't tell her. She was very religious - as all old southern italian ladies are - while I'm not so much anymore, but just for today I'll believe she is watching me from up there. 🤍

Aww, I knew I celebrated a previous. birthday at a Ren Faire with a bunch of friends, all of us dressed as pirates. Forgot it was my milestone 30th. I rang in my 30s as a pirate & I'll be ringing out the end of my 30s as a pirate as well, cuz I am going to the Royal Feast this summer as a 39th bday treat! Hopefully this time goes smoother, because that was also the same trip where I got pulled over by a state trooper doing 72mph in a 55mph zone (I thought it was 65mph speed limit) and his first question to the car full of gals fully decked out in pirate looks was "you going to the ren faire?" Instead of saying NO for lolz, I said "um, yeah..." like a COWARD. As a "happy birthday" he didn't write me a speeding ticket but still wrote a ticket for my license plate frame because "you'd never get pulled over just for this, but it's technically illegal to have *anything* covering any part of your plate". The ticket was still ~$350 (thanks NYS surcharge). Anyways I got to feed a duck, ride a camel, and spend the day with some of the best people, so it was all worth it and I look forward to a repeat (on a slightly smaller scale, because I am le tired) for my 39th!

And while I’m at it! Putting this energy out there: #RenewOurFlagMeansDeath and cast Kate McKinnon as either Anne Bonny or Mary Read. They already gave us an in with Calico Jack whining he's been mutinied against 3 times recently and they ran with him historically. He’s also already out of the way so there’s no wasted time/boring love triangle drama and we can just have happy badass lesbian pirates co-captaining their own ship.

It’ll be dramatic, Ed’ll cry thinking he killed him, etc.  But the half of the fucking petrified orange Stede's daughter gave him will stop the bullet & save him #RenewOurFlagMeansDeath Or Izzy will shoot Stede, but I think Ed would be more dramatic for the story/reunion and needing to really knock him HARD out of The Kraken.  Ed knows Stede knows how to take a stab, or maybe their sword fight will be a draw or with Stede thinking he won and Ed pulls the gun. Ed never used the gun in the show. Only threatened Stede (and started to load it at the party) OH GOD! Actually, Stede will probs just refuse a sword fight. Ed will want one & Stede will refuse & Ed will threaten with the gun (again).Will the shot be intentional or accidental? (Does it matter?) Stede should never have left but the clean break/forgiveness from his family is what will save his life in the end. After also setting him free to love with no doubts or guilts from his old life haunting him. Knowing he's not a curse or a monster.

Tobin:

full name = tobin ‘toby’ avery anthony drake

is the oldest of the 2 kids (2 years older)

is like teen sam but make him modern *jazz hands* (in both looks and personality)

gets on well with both his parents but struggles to talk about things that annoy him - just like his dad....

doesn’t mind taking himself away on road trips randomly to get some air

sometimes with friends, sometimes alone

is designated driver for most things, including school run (why wouldn’t you be when your aunt is chloe frazer?)

plays american football at school but doesn’t really care about it (loves the friends hes made from it tho)

is bi and v suprised that his parents are too (listen sam is bi - headcanon or no)

has a small shit devil skull tattoo on his hip from a friend at a party - kinda regrets it, also kinda loves it

grew up with cassie and his sister, seeing the whole fam often

still sees them all but not as frequent (later works with some aunts and uncles in the business)

wants to get into the ‘family business’ but doesn’t know all the dangers because his parents are pussies and don’t know how to tell them both but finds out when hes 17 after having run off for his own work but ends up getting into typical drake trouble and his parents come save him

doesn’t end up going to college and thats okay - its not for everyone

his sister - pain in the ass - is also his right hand man and designated ‘sidekick’ on his many escapades (sidekick being the brains who plans everything and gets him out of trouble)

takes their now fairly old dog winnie with him literally everywhere = support doggo

is 2 years younger than tobin (3 years younger than cassie)

prefers the comfort of a library or office to the adventurer’s life

loves road trips with the family tho, just not as a profession (much to her mothers relief)

there were some complications when she was born (nothing that effects her now) but enough to make her mum scared of everything she does

got a camera from aunt elena for her 8th bday and hasn’t put it down since

designated photographer for family adventures because ‘the others are too busy being shot at to get photographic proof of anything’

the ‘sensible’ one... if you even could call a drake that

doesn’t know the ‘family business’ as much as tobin, thinks they just travelled and found cool stuff - guns? what guns?

if you looked in her wardrobe you’d think you were in 1983

you’d also find her overfilled notebooks stacked on the floor of the wardrobe

pet instagram is what everyone wants and so shes happy to comply

has her own quirky charm but prefers to keep her friendship circle small, unlike her brother

is closer to cousin cassie than tobin

loves being the tech support with any of their work

is a proper daddies girl but has a temper just as fiery as his so the clashing is quite comical to those watching - the wit is strong with this one
