The subconscious is way powerful than you think (Hanyou no Yasahime theory)
So this is prompted by an ask by @born-for-eachother about Rin being the midwife for the twins, and as I am texting this idea to my friend why I think it is plausible for Rin to be around Sesshomaru and perhaps the only trusted figure he could rely on.
SPOILERS FOR YASAHIME Episode 2-3
Anyway it sprialled to something interesting to a scene in Setsuna’s flashback when Kaede said that she came into the village (looking grumpy and cute with her moko moko) for the trial called “A rite of courage and Cowardice” as ordinated by her father which leads to the status of her being the part of the demon slayers with Hisui and a now grown up Kohaku , however a question came in mind, is how she knew that Kaede’s village and knew they are safe when the era she lived is wild and if not cruel to hanyous like herself???
*insert big brain mode*

So this is where my theory came in, I am guessing that Rin could play a part in Setsuna’s life in a subconscious life that leads to the decisions, so far we knew that she and her sister Towa were separated by a time paradox, and her memories of the forest fire are eaten by the dream butterfly.
I would add aside from the parents, adult figures in the child’s extended family or friends can influence the train of thought for a young child to see the world, like you either try to mimic your aunt’s sense of style or perhaps the negative habits of that certain person.
I am guessing before the incident, (that is my head canon) I believe that Rin played as the big sister/aunt figure for the twins, after all if we look at Lord Sesshomaru’s interests in humans, it is now in a neutral perspective and if not begrudgingly respected them which was in the turn a change of his a character to stop being a proud douchebag. I think it was Rin’s sincere character that changed his perspective, should he marry to a human wife, he would not go to Kaede or even his human sister in law Kagome, so Rin seems to be a plausible level for interaction with his twin daughters as she trusted him with his life and in return, he seen the beauty of humanity. So in return, Rin could teach the twins about the big and dangerous world, and said things that could benefit it. Like joining Kohaku’s team, maybe Rin knew his kindness and knew should she be in danger, Kohaku is a trusted human who would not hurt her or Kaede’s village, maybe she bring them to the village to play with Moroha and that aroma seems familiar to him, while Sesshomaru was searching over for Towa. Hell even the flashbacks could be a personification of Rin watching over them.
If Sesshomaru’s life is in danger or need a backup, he would go to Rin as they served each other in familiar terms and maybe he seen her as a lady the girls could look up to in touch of their humanity. (Which results in Towa being caring and emphatic)
It is more a life repaying a life idea for me. I am not sure how the creators do this idea but I feel it is a plausible idea in my head on the status of Rin.

Not sure if anyone else picked up on this but there was that whole scene between Moroha and Takechiyo where she asks him who is requesting to slay these “big name demons”
Takechiyo says they’re coming from someone Jyubei “can’t say no to”:

Then in the preview we see Miroku walking away from Takechiyo and Jyubei:

I wonder if it’s Miroku trying to push the girls or Moroha towards a specific direction- or maybe he wasn’t impacted by the memory loss a lot of the characters seem to be affected by?
But also WHERE ARE SANGO AND THE TWINS?!!!!

First thought is Sesshomaru, obviously, but that's a skinny hand for him... and that also doesn't look like his fluff. It's also not quite the right shading for his hair, either...
Maybe full demon Setsuna? 👀

Sesshomaru and Rin... is it possible?
So here’s my destructive theory about who Sesshomaru fucked... I think it can’t be Rin.
Sooooooooo the other day I was cleaning my house and had an epiphany.
Setsuna and Towa are twin sisters around 15/16 years old, and are older than Moroha. Or at least they seem ONE or TWO years older top.
So far so good.
BUT WAIT
WHEN THE HELL DID SESSHOUMARU HAD SEX TO HAVE DAUGHTERS BEFORE INUYASHA??????
AND WITH WHO????
Tumblr media
So basically I died for a few seconds, when I came back to live I quickly started doing math in mi mind while I was cleaning the floor.
We know Rin has, more o less, 9 years old at the beggining, when Kagome cames back 3 years later she must have around 12.
Kagome is already 18 when she cames back from the modern era.
Okei, 12 and 18. They have wait a few years....5 years? To make it credible.
BUT WAIT
We have the eldest son of Miroku and Sango, and he appears a LITTLEEEE older than the twins, lets suppose 18 tops.
So when Kagome arrives he’s a newborn, meaning....
Rin would have been 14 years old when “having” the twins-
My math could be wrong, I’m not very good at it, but please someone has to follow this logic and tell me if I’m wrong.
Tumblr media
SO!
It wouldn’t be irrealistic to think that she still is the mother, considering the feudal era where they live. But I honestly don’t know if Rumiko consider doing that. Or what fucked up logic and timeline did she consider when she out of nowhere give children to Seshhoumaru BEFORE Inuyasha.
In conclusion
I think Rin is not the mother of the Twins. Also there is that red string of hair, something characteristic of some other person or something. Doesn’t seem to come from Sesshoumaru’s side. Although, they are hanyou....
Also, how long did Inuyasha and Kagome wait to have a child? -_- man
And with this theory, I step out.
Enjoy your wrecked brain

When people depart, and no longer be kind (A Hanyou no Yasahime theory)
Ok my brain went overdrive since rewatching the previous episode and I thought of an idea on Kirinmaru, as usual spoilers will be ensured
Yes Yasahime has dropped another bombshell, and like all of us we are freaking out WTF did sesshomaru did (me too, same…same…), and we realise that Root Head is just a pawn for a bigger picture.
As I was thinking of the origin of his name, I was like shit I heard it somewhere, and weirdly it came from Nioh which one of the characters have a Kirin as his guardian spirit.
Tumblr media
(Ok I looked it up much later LOL LOL and its name is Enku but the creature is the one which I researched)
Just a quick piece of that creature, so this chimera which shared both Japanese and Chinese mythology took its wild appearance of horse, dragon and deer, is a benevolent figure who refused to eat meat of others and tread gently on lands. However it dire circumstances, it could vengeance to the land. And it is often a symbol of a ruler’s passing or arrival.
Tumblr media
And I was thinking, what if the writers twist the lore of Kirin of it to show the cruelty of the world, and I am thinking of how it relates to Toga (which BTW great lore ideas since we barley know him as a character expect few mentions mostly notably the third film: Sword of the Honourable Ruler and the Pearl episode) and I thought of something happened in the past which caused that resentful, so I am thinking of the lines of Anakin Skywalker/ Obi Wan in the Star wars Prequel or Avatar with Soizin/Avatar Roku
Tumblr media
(YES I WANT TO MAKE THIS JOKE NGL)
So here I go, so both demon lords; mainly Inu No Taisho and Kirinmaru are brothers in arms- initially they do share a bond to watch over the demons, and see who went powerful, of course Kirin does have good intentions and slowly Toga realized it too despite his immersive powers to basically kill anyone. I mean for real anyone.
However they made a rule that they could not connect with a human, as it will soften their visions, which is unfortunate in Toga's case- as in OG lore Inu no Taisho fell in love with a human and hence birth Inuyasha. So Toga realising that humans are weak, needed a hero so he kinda fashioned himself to that-hence the original lore of the series
So Kirin went desperate and decided to conspire with the tree of ages, then dormant, and then it refused such evil-however with the heightening of the evils in the OG series- the tree took a warped state (hence taking the form of Kikyo for her jealously and betrayal from Inuyasha) and soon come by Kirin's agreement which sets the series in motion.
I know, long stretch but I feel it would make a dynamic move and perhaps add motivation to the words told by the Tree of Ages to defend him (Maybe to spur his plans further in the tree’s part.
Plus I am thinking it will make things interesting.
