Music I loved this year
Time for a round up. I listened to music at work quite a bit this year... more so than usual.
Issy Wood
#1. The Best. Could not get enough Issy Wood this year. A well-regarded British painter who has a go making music and it's this good? Stop it. There's so little stuff online about her music though! Maybe I gotta start the fan club. (Tumblr's tags were about her visual work – if you love her tunes... 👋)
It's all good stuff but here's my Great Issy Wood playlist if you're interested.
Burial
It's all good stuff and this guy has a tune for every mood. I'm no good at remembering song titles though, so just listen to albums or skip through to tracks. Antidawn was very good, plus his albums and Tunes. He and Issy have never played live (and live in the UK) so 'thanks' to the internet for sharing I guess.
Aldous Harding
Now here's someone I love who I've seen live three times! It's awesome to be a fan of someone as they're releasing stuff – being part of the culture and seeing it unfold. I think Warm Chris is her best yet.
Hans Pucket
I know and love these guys and No Drama is incredible!
Princess Chelsea
She's great.
Kate Bush
I didn't watch Stranger Things but did know Running Up That Hill. I got really hooked on The Dreaming. I was floored that someone was making music that interesting in 1982.
Women making weird pop music? I'm in.
I also loved Drug Store Romeos, TOPS, Knox Fortune, Tennis, Cate Le Bon, SOPHIE ❤ and Tyler's IGOR

The Beths / Hans Pucket / Junk Whale
The Bulingdon Oxford Wednesday 8th May
Having fallen head over heels with The Beths album 'Future Me Hates Me' from last year I was very excited when Divine Schism announced this show and snapped up tickets ASAP. Arriving in Oxford a bit early for the 7:45 doors I decided to head to The Library pub a few doors down from The Bully and enjoyed a pint of Juicebox from the Fourpure Brewing Co and I got to say it was worth every penny of the £5 price tag!
First up was local indie/emo band Junk Whale who get to play to an already very busy Bullingdon and come with very important news of the cloakroom being open, they were a great start to the evening this description of them in their bandcamp bio is very accurate "They sound like four people arguing over whether Pixies or the Breeders are the better band." and to be honest this is very much my kinda shit will be keeping an eye out for them and hope I get to see more of them at future Oxford shows. By the time Hans Pucket hit the stage the bully is rammed and I got the sense that not many in the crowd were very familiar with the band but with the opener 'Comfort' I think they immediately won over the majority of the audience. We got some roaring guitar solos and with some of their songs it was impossible to not dance and smile, along with the in between song banter anyone who wasn't familiar with Hans Pucket just became fan. The Beths play a set full of songs from 'Future Me Hates Me' Uptown Girl, You Wouldn't Like Me, Whatever, Happy Unhappy all get great reactions from the crowd as does one of the albums more tender moments River Run. We get treated to a new song which left me even more excited for some new material from the band, perhaps the best moment was saved for last as The Beths played Little Death which got the best crowd reaction of the night with a lot of jumping and singing along The Beths left everyone inside a packed Bullingdon with a smile on their face.
Earlier in the day I almost talked myself out of going due to not felling 100% but leaving the Bully in the rain and a long walk to my bus stop I was so fucking happy I made the decision to go.
