Ilkka Matilan ja MRP Matila Röhr Productionsin tuottama ja AJ Annilan ohjaama elokuva Ikitie rikkoi eilen 100 000 katsojan rajan, katsojamäärä on nyt 100 684 katsojaa. Elokuvaa esitetään 75 elokuvateatterissa kautta maan. Elokuva perustuu Antti Tuurin samannimiseen romaaniin.

– Tämä tulos kertoo siitä, että kotimainen elokuvateatteriyleisö arvostaa ikitie-elokuvan laatua ja koskettavaa tarinankerrontaa. Suomalaiset haluavat kuulla tarinoita, jotka oivaltavasti kertovat meistä itsestämme, Matila kertoo.

– Olen tosi tyytyväinen elokuvan saamaan palautteeseen. Erinomaiset arvostelut ovat oma lukunsa, mutta se, että elokuva puhuttelee katsojia ja herättää tunteita ja keskustelua, on palautteista minulle tekijänä arvokkain. Tämä tarina ansaitsee tulla nähdyksi. sanoo elokuvan ohjaaja AJ Annila.

Suurtuotannon rooleissa nähdään vaikuttava kansainvälinen ensemble, muun muassa Tommi Korpela, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Ville Virtanen, Jonna Järnefelt, Hannu-Pekka Björkman, Helen Söderqvist, Hendrik Toompere, Sampo Sarkola, Irina Björklund, Antti Virmavirta, Lembit Ulfsak, Emmi Parviainen sekä Eedit Patrakka.  

Elokuvan musiikin säveltävät ruotsalaiset Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm ja Ian Person, jotka muistetaan huippusuositusta yhtyeestä The Soundtrack of Our Lives.

Heidän lisäkseen Grammy-palkittu Eric Peltoniemi sekä viime vuonna Suomen Kulttuurirahaston palkinnolla palkittu Paleface sovittavat amerikansuomalaisten siirtolaisten musiikkia elokuvaan.
