Enola Holmes 2
This movie is better than the first one and much more enjoyable. I like Enola's chemistry with Tewkesbury, and I pretty much enjoyed whenever the Holmes siblings are together. Wish there are more scenes of them together and just investigating crimes. They have great dynamics together. Some parts of the plot are predictable like the cause of the disease that kills the match girls, Cecily being Sarah (and wanting help from Tewkesbury), and even the fan message of Tewkesbury. The only thing that surprised me is the identity of Moriarty. Like, I know the minister's secretary (or assistant) is kind of suspicious, but I didn't know she has that big character hiding in her shoulders. Pretty sure we will see more of her in the future (third movie please!!!).
All in all, I pretty much enjoyed this movie.
P.S. The poster above kinda give away the plot. Why I’m just realizing it now? 😭

Trying to keep my head above water these past few days but I’m doing okay. Looking forward to the weekend where I’ll get to see one of my favorite bands! I also finished Godkiller by Hannah Kaner and that was excellent!! Hopefully more happy things to come in the future.

UK actors are having a moment!
-Hero Fiennes Tiffin late of Guy Ritchie's THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE
is reporting back to Ritchie for the direct to series order for Amazon Prime's YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES.
Will Fiennes Tiffin's Holmes be the young version of Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes that Ritchie famously directed? By Ritchie's comments, I'm thinking the two are unrelated. "In ‘Young Sherlock’ we’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before,” said Ritchie. “We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love.”
The Fiennes' family are no stranger to the Holmes universe. Hero's uncle Ralph Fiennes played Moriarty in the 2018 comedy HOLMES & WATSON starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly.
-Nicholas Galitzine has a hit Amazon film, hit songs on the chart, he's in FYC campaigns for both Amazon's RED WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE and Starz/Sky Atlantic's MARY & GEORGE and now he can put action hero under his belt. Galitzine has been tapped for the role they have seemingly been unable to give away - He-Man, Master of the Universe!
I know. Shocking.
It has been a hard road getting this property back into the live-action realm. Previously cast was Noah Centineo,
then bewildering Kyle Allen (WEST SIDE STORY, A HAUNTING IN VENICE)
and just slightly less bewildering Galitzine.
Thicc Nick. Get those muscles back up, Prince Adam, the People's Princess.
While the articles I've seen announcing Galitzine's casting say that the plot details are unknown, the film is still being directed by Travis Knight (BUMBLEBEE, KUBO AND THE TWO STRINGS) and when he was announced as director the synopsis was: “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
Until then, you can see Galitzine in Variety's ACTORS ON ACTORS (in support of MARY & GEORGE) where he is paired with Leo Woodall, (ONE DAY) and who will be in the next BRIDGET JONES film, BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY.
Galitzine's RED, WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE costar Taylor Zakhar Perez will also be in ACTORS ON ACTORS and is paired with his friend and THE KISSING BOOTH costar Joey King (WE WERE THE LUCKY ONES).
The rest of the lineup
Quinta Brunson (“Abbott Elementary”) & Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”)
Jodie Foster (“True Detective: Night Country”) & Robert Downey Jr. (“The Sympathizer”)
Jon Hamm (“Fargo,” “The Morning Show”) & Kristen Wiig (“Palm Royale”)
Tyler James Williams (“Abbott Elementary”) & Anthony Mackie (“Twisted Metal”)
Anna Sawai (“Shōgun “) & Tom Hiddleston (“Loki”)
Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”) & Andrew Scott (“Ripley”)
Hannah Einbinder (“Hacks”) & Chloe Fineman (“Saturday Night Live”)
Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”) & Emma Corrin (“A Murder at the End of the World”)
Chloë Sevigny (“Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”) & Kim Kardashian (“American Horror Story: Delicate”)
Naomi Watts (“Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”) & Jonathan Bailey (“Fellow Travelers”)
-As Travis Knight has directed a TRANSFORMERS film, I move on to a TRANSFORMERS alum - Jack Reynor who was in the panned TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION. Dear Jack has been cast in series two of AppleTV+s CITADEL opposite Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden.
and another dear Jack, this time Jack "The Lad" O'Connell, who was recently seen in Michael Mann's FERRARI and Sam Taylor Johnson's Amy Winehouse biopic BACK TO BLACK has been cast in the next Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan collaboration (which is said to be a vampire film) and he's been cast in the upcoming 28 DAYS LATER sequel with Cillian Murphy, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Ralph Fiennes.

I work at a public library and I had an elderly regular call to put some books on hold. She starts off with usually stuff like the newest Liane Moriarty and Kristen Hannah books, but then the last item she says is The Book of Bill. As a reflex, I told her I also had that book on hold. She just replied oh and I wrapped up the call.
I'm just left with so many questions. Does she know what the book is, or did she just pick it based on its name, thinking it was like a normal book? Does she have a grandchild who was interested? Is she a fan of a cartoon from a decade ago? What will she think of the divorce?
I kinda wished I asked but also fuck around and find out ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

nine people you would like to know better (tagged by @sophiedevreaux, thank you so much 💖)
3 ships: i'm obsessed with so many but shira and hannah (harlan coben's shelter) have consumed my soul in recent weeks; and despite everything that's happened my brain is permanently rotting over ros and leanne (shortland street) and bernie and serena (holby city)
first ever ship: i'm not sure, but i think it was luke and lorelai (gilmore girls)
last song: i?? don't know?? i haven't really chosen any of the music i've heard for a week or so bc we were just listening to audiobooks in the car while we were away; but we went to a café that was playing loco in acapulco by the four tops (why. why would you do that) so that's been in my head ever since then (kindly think about the consequences of ur actions the twisted currant café in porthleven)
last movie: well, i rewatched zootopia; the last one that i hadn't seen before was bolt (i was staying in an air b.&b. where children lived from wednesday until yesterday. many disney films were consumed)
currently reading: i read the new catherine alliott (the pink house) book i bought to take on holiday with me in three days (catherine alliott is a genius and one of my most favourite authors of all time; her books are SO fun and set in lovely idyllic places but also gripping and full of dark secrets and twists and i've been obsessed with them since i first borrowed my mum's copy of rosie meadows regrets ... when i was about fourteen) so now i'm rereading why mummy swears (the first sequel to why mummy drinks) by gill sims, partly bc i want to read worthy and improving tomes but just end up reading the same comfort books all the time; and partly to refresh my memory of it before i read the subsequent sequels. also i got a new liane moriarty (apples never fall) in a charity shop (it cost fifty pence. i love u cornwall) while i was away, so i'm planning to start that soon (i may not have got round to watching big little lies yet but part of the reason for that is that i'm in so love with the book and i'm scared to spoil it)
currently watching: i've just watched harlan coben's shelter (along with good omens and the third series of ted lasso) and i only got home from holiday yesterday (also it was a very long journey and a hellish day, for various reasons) so i'm not in the right frame of mind to start anything else yet, i've been playing stardew valley and watching judge judy in the meantime
currently consuming: a can of coca-cola (snap alfonsina!!)
currently craving: i'm really too tired to crave anything other than coca-cola rn, and i've got one of those, so that's nice
tagging @juliewlters, @alisonscotlock, @moxyphinx, @notprincehamlet, @lesleymanville, @loveindiravarma, @pea-green, @horriblycheerful, @swanqueens (feel free to ignore!!)
#i actually tagged nine people!!!!!!! are you proud of me#i feel that deserves an “i've been brave” sticker tbh#PERHAPS i already know some of the people i tagged extremely well#(i'm just imagining eve; lizzie; and shawna seeing this and being like?? what more is there to know??? lmao)#but that doesn't mean i don't want to know them even better does it#i answered in a lot more detail than i intended to oops. sorry about that.#but i did reveal quite a lot about myself which i suppose was the point of this exercise so on that basis you're welcome#just shut up @ me#about me#meme

In honor of Hannah Dodd being in Enola Holmes 2 I suggest detective!AU where all of the siblings are private investigators and their partners are clients/suspects. Anthony takes cases from the government. Ben is to go for artsy and bohemian people and when things are to scandalous for police. Colin is an international star of deduction (Pen is Moriarty obv). Daphne helps high society ladies. Eloise exactly like Enola and takes payment in potatoes and gratitude. Francesca is the best observer and thinker and her cases are most complicated and serious ones. Hyacinth is a sort of adventuress and treasure seeker. And Gregory is the mama's boi and helps with matchmaking.
Aww I would love to read a take like that. Just a family of detectives who have their own specialities. And occasionally meddle in each other's cases when someone can't crack a lead.
If Pen is Moriarty does that mean the rest of the spouses are also criminal masterminds Who eventually get caught by our heroes?
I can totally see Kate being the Irene Adler to Anthony's Mycroft. Playing the seductive arm candy to so and so government official when she's really a spy for the Indian secret service. And her real personality is the complete opposite.
Sophie would be a star pickpocket who makes a living divesting the rich of their valuables only for Ben to recruit her criminal skills for the greater good
Simon would be a smooth corrupt lord in the house of representatives. That's got his hand in many criminal pies and attends balls to meet with associates
Phillip is totally the Tewkesbury to Eloise Enola (I've said it before). He's got a huge crush on her since they were kids. He's not a criminal and if Eloise suspects he killed his wife for the inheritance money. Well there's really no way to prove it is there?
Michael totally owns a brothel that Francesca visits whenever she wants information quick and fast. She lets him run his sexy underground establishment and he provides her with the leads she needs. Although how deep Michaels web of whispering lovers go? Francesca is afraid to ask.
Gareth is an expert at making counterfeit jewelry and he's often seen frequenting the illegal auctions Hyacinth goes to.
While Lucy is what detectives call a breakup artist. Breaking up couples is her business. And she frequently clashes with Gregory on assignments where one half of the couple hires her to break up and the other half hires him to help rekindle the flames of love
I like to think this au would be hilarious because the Bridgertons would def make great detectives but still idiots when it comes to love

2022 Book List
The time has come! My favourite time of the year to reflect on a year of reading! Please enjoy the photo above as the cozy refuge that is Daunts Books in London shot on film.
A few thoughts on this year of reading. In summation, I fell quite short in my expectations of the quantity of what I wanted to read this year. Whether that be a challenging start to the year, or a very busy work season, I consumed less this year than I hope to. With all of that being said, I am quite a fan of most of the things I read this year. Please enjoy my highlights!
1: My Body by Emily Ratajkowski: An incredibly personal set of essays that explored her relationship with her body that was honest, flawed, and fascinating.
2: Where the Deer and the Antelope Play: The Pastoral Observations of One Ignorant American Who Loves to Walk Outside by Nick Offerman: While long and full of words I had to look up, I thoroughly enjoyed the thoughts Nick Offerman shared about society and our relationship to the land we live on.
3: The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan: A really engaging fantasy read by one of my favourite audiobook narrators. Loved the character development and the unique magical elements.
4: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty: This one of the first books I read from Reese's bookclub and I have to say, she has never disappointed me yet! A great complicated mystery with a fascinating set of female friendships.
5: Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jensen Reid: I read three books but this talented author this year! She has a knack for writing glamourous books about beautiful and haunted young women that I just find so easy to get lost in.
6: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid: Another TJR read that was worth the hype. I loved the unexpected story line in this.
7: The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: I very much enjoyed this unique concept for a book. This book successfully subverts expectations and you can't help but viewing life a little differently after experiencing this novel.
8: Dreams of Joy by Lisa See: An absolutely heartbreaking novel full of nuance and interesting history. I adored the layered relationships sprinkled throughout.
9: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah: By far one of the best books I read this year. I'm not normally one for WW2 stories, but this story was gripping in every way. Strong women will always be my favourite to read about.
10: The Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle: A reread that I will never tire of. There's something so fascinating about the dynamic between Watson and Holmes that I will never not want to contemplate.
11: Night Shift by Kiare Ladner: This was one of those books that was uncomfortable to read due to unlikable characters. The people in this story were unlikeable, complicated, and illogical which pushed me out of my normal story comfort zone.
12: The Last Garden in England by Julia Kelly: Just a delightful easy read about 3 generations of women navigating the world in unconventional ways.
13: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: Having seen all the hype on Tik Tok over these novels, I took the plunge and have read the first three novels in this series. They have fast been devoured in my love for this world Sarah created. Perhaps why this series resonates well with me, is that it is fantasy actually written for women by women. There's so much to love in the depiction of romantic relationships actually being equal, women being just as fierce fighters as men, and the subversion of stereotypes. This was one of my reading highlights of the year!
Thanks for following along my reading journey.
You can follow along on Goodreads under the username: Laura Marazzi
Happy reading!
