Today I received this beautiful handwoven towel as part of a towel exchange. This weaver is fast, as I’ve only just decided on a draft and started winding the warp. And her hems are amazing! I hope my return towel can do hers justice. Even hanging freshly cut from the loom handwoven tea towels on the line while the sun beats down feels kind of magical out here. We’d always talked about moving to the country but it was never something we thought we’d necessarily be able to do at this stage in life and now we’re here it isn’t disappointing. This is the last truly warm day we’re expected to have for awhile out here so we’re soaking up every last bit of sunshine (I’ll get around to hemming these towels tomorrow)... Current projects in progress. Some of these will hopefully be finished for Christmas. First is 12-point twill towels on 8 harnesses, on my AVL loom. I have just finished the pink and switching to gray for the next towel. Then a shadow weave chenille scarf on 4 harnesses, on my Baby Mac. This is the second scarf on this warp; I think I had enough for 3 scarves. Third is the current progress on the sugar skulls towel, false damask pickup on my Big Mac. This afternoon I finished tying the new 11-1/2 yd warp (504 ends) on to the previous warp. It’s taken a couple of weeks. I have about half of it beamed at this point. The empty #macomberloom now has a warp ready to start threading tomorrow. 8/2 cotton from #websyarn in dark blue (Inkspot) & natural for a pattern I’m calling Concentric Squares. Approx 11-1/2 yd warp (the longest my warping board will do). These will be kitchen towels. I *love* the way these kitchen towels came out, love the size (actually, I think the pinwheels came out a little too wide) and I love the hand of the Brassard 8/2 cotton.
