I'm handing myself into custody at Franklin County Jail in 2 weeks and I'm extremely excited for my first incarceration role-play experience in a real jail! Any advice you'd give for those of us getting locked up for the first time?

Do I have any advice?! Yes!!

1. Have fun! Don't hold back at all. This is a rare chance to play!

2. Push yourself. Try everything you can. This is all about self-discovery. Try uniforms, restraints, jail yard, and misbehave a bit!

3. Let go! If you're a quiet guy, then cut loose! I am a very "confrontation adverse" person in my real life. In role play, i earned the name Pitbull.....for a reason!!

4. Have a story in mind and define your role. EX.: Innocent and mistakenly arrested for bank robbery

5. Cherish this first time. You will never be this scared or this excited by prison role play again!!

6. Journal! Write this shit down. You will be shocked how much you forget by October when you reread the journal. And years from now, you will be grateful for the memories!

LOOKING FOR GUYS WITH REAL PRISON-EXPERIENCE IN THE USA

As I am planning to write a novel about a young guy sentenced to prison for a couple of years in the States, I am interested in email- or chat-contact with former inmates regarding their experience in US jail or prison, the material and the mental side of their incarceration both, as the novel should cover the physical and psychological aspects.

I m interested to hear more about your arrest and trial, about being perp walked and sentenced, about your transport to prison in full restraints, about your feelings and fears during that trip and at the moment the fences, barbed wire and walls of the penitentiary came into view, about the intake-procedure after arrival and how it felt.

About being forced to wear a prison uniform at all times for the next years and what it's like to be shackled regularly, about your first lonely night in a cell, about the appearance of your cell and its bars, about the other inmates in your cell-block and living together with them, about your daily routine and a life totally destined by others, about the rules and sanctions for breaking the rules, about security measures and controll, about meals, work programs and study opportunities, sports and other recreational facilities, about your contact with the outer world, your family and friends, visits, about trips outside prison for community work, dental or medical care, court hearings etcetera - and about how it is, to live among so many, many other inmates, who are dressed and treated exactly the same.

Ancient Halls

Dave was certain the ancient halls of the university had seen many kinds of crime over the years, but he was sure there hadn't been one that ended like this.

He was a professor at the prestigious school - or at least until the girl who'd captured him got him to the office and he was taken into police custody and fired - but he'd had enough of entitled students and decided he was going to take some of the art off the wall and make his "retirement" score as the campus slept.

Little had he known he was being watched by freshman Criminal Justice student Morgan Wells, following him through the quiet halls of the women's dorm in her bare feet so he couldn't hear her. As he'd moved to take one of the school's oldest paintings from the wall, her voice had come out of the darkness.

"Freeze, Professor," Morgan had told him. "You're under arrest."

Dave had turned to run, but the girl trapped him in a dead-end corridor after he panicked, and he was forced to surrender. To humiliate him further, she'd made him lie down on the floor, straddled him, and handcuffed him - she'd been issued handcuffs in her "Introduction to Police Procedures" class. She'd patted him down and assured him he was in for a long and embarrassing walk.

"It's probably, what, about 20 minutes to the Admin Building," Morgan told him as he bowed his head. "Plenty of time to let it sink in you got captured by one of your female students."

Now they walked, him with his head bowed, nearly in tears, and she confident, holding him and guiding him through the ancient halls, his career over, his life over, with each step taking him closer to jail.

And anyway isn't Olivia clawing her way back from horror with her own bloody fingernails, Olivia raging and breaking and falling and then picking herself up only to turn around and make sure that she's there to carry other people so they don't have to bleed the same way a horror story in itself. No one is coming for her, and she continues to pour herself out for others while her grief remains private, sequestered, a festering withering thing that eats away at her insides but she'll never let it out, never. Everyone is so grateful for her gentle care and no one returns it. Hashtag healing.
