📝Devlog May 26th - Snowhaven Studios

Hello everyone!

Our team has been working hard to make awesome games, so we wanted to share what we have going on behind the scenes this May. 

First, we’d like to highlight a brand update that we announced recently on Tumblr. Our studio has shifted from away from a more narrow focus of games, to a variety of genres from varying perspectives. This has been an important transition for our studio as it reflects the diversity in our games, which we feel is important for our growth as an indie studio. This ties in with some of the awesome games we have coming out, so read on to hear more about it!

Our biggest accomplishment for the month was that we updated the Love’s Crescendo demo! For those of you that don’t know, Love’s Crescendo is our latest upcoming rhythm game VN hybrid that features rhythm game mechanics and the blossoming romance between Valerie and Cadence.  Some of the new additions to the updated demo includes: dynamic animations and camera movement, speaker highlights so you know who is talking, and UI improvements to make the visuals more appealing!

You’ll find the overall gameplay of the mini games to be a lot smoother this time around, including a ready/start animation to prepare you for hitting the notes. There’s also a How To Play screen which helps players learn the mechanics before diving in. Check out the new demo by clicking here. Another notable event for this month was the character reveals for Love’s Crescendo. We shared all of the characters, some for the first time that aren’t found in the demo. If you’ve been following our development on Twitter and Tumblr, you’ve probably come to the conclusion that all of the LC characters have spectacular hairstyles, and you’re right about that! 

We also celebrated the anniversary of My Sweet Confession earlier this month. Dara @pogo-a-gogo made celebratory chibi art for Hana and Ichika to celebrate the release of our beloved yuri game. My Sweet Confession is a wholesome yuri dating sim about rekindling friendship and hopefully turning it into something more. You can play My Sweet Confession by clicking here.

Last but not least, we’re making steady progress on another upcoming title, Drops of Death, a murder mystery VN where the killer is randomly chosen at the start of the game–with a romantic twist where players can date the killer.

We’ve been working on the routes for the main cast, including Detective Singh, Fawn, Edwin, and Natasha. The artwork for these characters is also a work in progress, including the main character Adrien, an MC with customizable pronouns.

zarina's either got the pride affinity or gloom affinity in lc au. hmmm. but she's probably either similar to how angelica and roland were popular/famous as fixers or she's similar to vergilius in terms of being a color (fixer). I'd say she could be called the silver moon as a color fixer. I wouldn't go as far as to put her in hana association but more like she is the 'beast' they keep as a color fixer as it fits her talents and gives her enough autonomy to do what she wants w/o becoming a nuisance for hana association. there are many things to look over. she probably fakes her outer personality. she and rodya would get along but so would she and faust get along when it's just two of them.

LoR’s Yura/Clara

Yura was born and raised in a noble family of the North side of the City's Nest she lived. Her name was Clara von Gravenreuth. And she was a smart but hot head kid since young.

Clara left her family status behind, worked in the backstreet's bar and met the legendary Red Mist as her regular guest. After a while the Red Mist left the bar with a mystery woman (Carmen) and never come back again.

Clara choose to change her name into Yura and worked as a Fixer due to her family is a noble, they aren’t allowed her to be a fixer.

At the age of 25, she became a talented Grade 4 Fixer who works under the Seven Association - mainly because she wanted to find out the reason why the legendary Red Mist suddenly went missing like that, she then asked to participate in the Smoke War for investigation and permission to leave the Association but still keep being their alliance with them

After the battle ended she was promoted to Grade 1 by Hana Association 

While still having a good connection with the Seven Association , she got sent to District 25 for investigation

 ( the next part of this can be read when on Collie part )

While Yura was busy working on investigation missions for Seven for money,a pillar of Light suddenly appears from L Corp's facilities rising to the surface in a beam of blinding light that shone for three days straight and then suddenly covered in darkness for the rest of the week.  ( day 50 in Lobotomy Corporation , the fall of L Corp )

Yura slowly got distorted after the event of White Night and Dark Day due to the end of Lobotomy Corporation event but her mind was fighting against it and she managed to manifest her e.g.o  ( the beginning of Library of Ruina )

She then able to collect a group of independence Fixers and Syndicates in the backstreets and form the Day Owls Office. 

Yura died in the Library while on a mission with Dante (Seven Association’s) and got back outside with badly wounded after Angela return all the lights back (the end of Library of Ruina event)

Ryuji Kuzuryu: Ultimate Vigilante

He has spiky blond hair with a ahoge (one of the four protagonists of the LCs), light green eyes and has freckles. He’s 5'10 and he’s quite fit.

Ryuji Kuzuryu is a very abrasive young man. He wears his status as a Yakuza son on his sleeves and he’s just done with most people even before he meets them. He’s also a stickler for his personal moral code and utterly unwavering when following it. It’s not the law, per se, but a code that prevents him from becoming a monstrous criminal.

His father, Hajime has become a very respected figure in the Yakuza background by being Fuyuhiko's husband. He and Fuyuhiko don't want Ryuji to become a killer/criminal. They both agreed to let him decide what he wants to do with his life. Ryuji really wants to make something of himself and be renowned for his actions. He’s fully willing to use his Yakuza status for his ambition but deep down he’s insecure about whether or not he’d be able to make something of himself otherwise.

Ryuji is a surprisingly strong leader with a strong will yet also having a talent for telling people what they need to hear. This ability inspires a lot of loyalty in others and he’s very resourceful in how he uses that loyalty. 

Despite him being done with most people he meets, he tolerates/likes with a few people. Being Saki Nanami, his close friend, Choko Tsumiki, Erika Nevermind who loves teasing him about his stickler attitude, Raiden who he really respects and Junpei Souda who he's super blunt to but won't admit he's glad that he's his friend.

Erika Nevermind: Ultimate Diplomat

Raised as royalty, she knows exactly how to act as the perfect diplomatic princess….but that’s just it, an act.

Erika is a very caring and empathetic individual, but tends to be somewhat bitter at times, a result of both her very heavy responsibilities. She cares deeply for the people of Novoselic and her friends, and refuses to stand idly if they are suffering. She pays little mind to her own needs or even her health, always putting the people and her country first.

Saki Nanami: Ultimate Game Developer

Saki is a cheerful and hardworking girl, naturally achieving top marks in the academy. However, outside of her academic pursuits, she often will make missteps along the way that leads to nowhere and often to failure. Nevertheless, she maintains an air of positivity and is usually the one to raise the spirits of her classmates in dour situations. 

She’s cursed with a lot of ideas and no energy to do it. She has a lot of hobbies and loves being active in sports and travelling but after doing one of them she’s sleeping for a week. But despite this, she still loves everything she gets to do and does her best to enjoy it.

Raiden Nidai: Ultimate Animal Trainer

Quite tall (6′2) and very well-build body. Black spiky hair with some traces of silver. Hair cut on each side and slicked back. Has a small scar on his left cheek.

He’s trained his body for years to handle even the largest of animals. He’s a loud presence in a room. You’ll always know he’s there, even if he isn’t talking…. though he likely is.

Once you get him going (or even if you try and stop him) he’ll talk for hours on end about whatever he has on his mind. This is usually animals and what interesting creatures he’s had the pleasure of meeting but he’s almost aggressively enthusiastic about everything.

This enthusiasm doesn’t present itself in an easily acceptable manner as his high energy doesn’t mean he’s exactly bubbly or even overly friendly. This can easily overwhelm people but he just doesn’t know how to reign it in, even when he wants to make friends.

He’s trying to befriend Junpei (despite Gundham and Kazuichi’s, although improved, still somewhat rocky relationship) but the latter is still kind of shy.

Junpei Soda: Ultimate Cameraman

He’s very dedicated to his art, hardworking and passionate. He’s a bit of a charmer to his models but can act a bit stiff when he’s not hiding behind his camera. He’s not the best around other people, tending to act a bit socially awkward or odd due to insecurity about how to act and how to be accepted by others. He works alongside Hanae to do media projects and all of them are always great.

He’s kind of dependent on other people though, which can make this worse. He’s dependent on their validation and tries to get around his stiffness around people by just taking pictures of them and complimenting them, which makes them feel good so they’ll compliment him as well as taking the brunt of the conversation off him.

However, Junpei also has a..... habit of making inappropriate jokes as well as insinuating innuendos. Don’t think about it too much. 

Choko Tsumiki: Ultimate Physician

She has dark purple hair attached as a ponytail with a flower resting on the left side of her hair.

She's wise but slightly arrogant or prideful. She can also be quite cold and can definitely fight someone when needed. She's individualist, fearless but also slightly sadistic. Though, just like Raiden, her tolerance is why she's well liked and respected.

She wears glasses and the flower she wears on her ponytail is a sakura cherry blossom, a symbol of pure beauty, renewal. But it also symbolizes death, reflecting Choko's darker side. Her name meaning "Butterfly child" which could be a reference to both Mikan's kind nature but also to the Butterfly effect concept. Indicating that even though her actions and causes can be small, the consequences and effects can be very large. Reflecting once again her unpredictable and enigmatic persona.

Sōma Mioda: Ultimate Rockstar

He’s hardcore! He’s loud and loves even louder music! Just anything that gets his blood pumping is his jam! Despite his appearance, he doesn’t actually care much for specific genres or bands, he just likes what he likes and listens to what he listens to. He’s just himself and that’s who he’ll be regardless of what other people expect. He’ll also probably say the dumbest things at random times. And if Ryuji is in the room as well oh boy. He’s a true and honest friend to everyone he meets, even though most of the others find him irritating. Only Junpei and Hanae really don’t mind that much.

Hanae Koizumi: Ultimate Journalist

She’s a very emotional and open girl, absolutely never compromising on her thoughts and feelings. She’s talkative and extroverted in a way that grabs the attention of people around her which makes her a lot of friends, but it has the downside of making her quite overbearing if you’re a quieter person. She has a hard time recognising this in herself which leads to further issues.

Hanae loves her mom and will talk about her often, she is her inspiration after all. She taught her how to have a keen eye and photography and without her she would have never known her true talent.

Nozomi Komaeda: Ultimate Theorist

She has a natural talent for predicting other people’s behaviours but it’s not infallible. However, when she makes a mistake or guesses wrong, just as things appear to be at their worst, everything gets better, often by sheer dumb luck.

Her main philosophy in life is to get things done in the fastest time possible. If she wastes any time, she’s wasting her life. This can make her come off as very odd and even cruel because her first solution is ultimately pragmatic, regardless of external factors. This is a shame because at heart, she’s definitely not cruel and tries to be good, but she just doesn’t have the energy to waste on niceties.

Because of this and due to her father’s history, most of the others can’t really connect to her. Saki is the only person who actually connect with her. Ryuji can’t say he has the highest opinion of her (again because of their fathers history) but he does recognize that he understands quite well her philosophy and behavior since they’re similar on that front.
