SHEN RICKY always gives you little gifts. 

“i got you something.” 

“ricky,” you chuckle softly as you shake your head. your lips quirk into a smile as you set your phone aside, turning to face him. “you didn’t need to.” 

“but i wanted to.” he shrugs nonchalantly. “i always want to.” 

ricky twirls the stem between his finger as he holds it out for you to admire. you softly gasp at the sight, admiring the hues of pink and white and decorating the flower petals. “it’s beautiful!” 

“here,” his touch is feather-light as he reaches up, carefully brushing stray strands of hair away from your face. butterflies swarm throughout your stomach and shivers race down your spine at the feeling. “let me.” 

ricky smiles sheepishly as he delicately tucks the flower behind your ear, careful not to let any petals fall. you can faintly smell the sweetness radiating from it. you smile brightly as you tilt your head to the side to pose. “how do i look?”

stepping forwards, he cups your face between his hands. ricky leans in, pressing a chaste kiss against your cheek. they feel soft against your skin - tinted a soft shade of baby pink and routinely coated in strawberry chap stick. he smiles when he pulls away, a light flush quickly spreading across his skin. “beautiful.”

KIM GYUVIN is always holding your hand. 

amidst the bustling crowd, you peek over the tops of heads and behind shoulders as you search for gyuvin throughout the crowd. wires stretch across the ceiling like vines. you only catch glimpses of muted conversations when staff members pass you by.

it only takes a small gap in the crowd before you recognize him, his red hair a sharp contrast to the black boxes behind him. “gyuvin!” 

his eyes widen. he watches you in shock for a moment before he immediately begins rushing towards you. “you’re here,” gyuvin whispers shakily. his grip tightens around your waist as he leans in, tucking his face into the crook of your neck. 

“i’m here,” you chuckle. you rub your hands against his back in an attempt to soothe him, careful not to wrinkle the thin fabric of his stage outfit. gyuvin’s hands cup your face when he pulls away, gently trailing along your jawline. a deep flush rises to his cheeks despite the thin layer of foundation covering his face. 

“there’s so much i want to show you.” gyuvin smiles brightly. his large hands envelop your own, intertwining your fingers together with ease. shivers race down your spine when his thumb casually brushes against your knuckles. he squeezes your hand once. “just follow me.” 

PARK GUNWOOK is clingy. 

the sunset casts a golden glow across the train car, illuminating the horizon in the distance. its wheels scrape against the rails, creating a quiet hum that drones on for hours. you turn to look out the window. flashes of trees and seemingly never ending hills eventually give way to acres of flat fields, filled with crops ready for harvest. 

you startle slightly when gunwook’s head falls against your shoulder; stray strands of his hair tickle against the bare skin of your neck. he all but slumps his body against yours, letting a deep sigh escape him. your bodies mold together like puzzle pieces. 

“is everything okay?” you whisper. you reach upwards to carefully push a strand of hair away from gunwook’s eyes. he leans into your touch slightly, smiling softly when you allow him to lean his cheek against your palm.

“yeah,” he mumbles in response. his voice is low and raspy. the telltale signs of sleep slip into his words. gunwook looks up at you with rosy cheeks and tired eyes full of love and admiration. it’s enough to make your heartbeat a little bit faster and butterflies swarm throughout your stomach. “just want you.” 

HAN YUJIN tells you everything. 

“yujin,” you whisper. he nervously chews on his bottom lip, anxiously staring up at the continuous spin of your ceiling fan. moonlight illuminates your bedroom, painting the walls silver. “what’s on your mind?” 

yujin curls into your side, abandoning any embarrassment in the night. his legs entangle with your own beneath your blankets. “i’ve been thinking,” he whispers, so quiet that you almost miss the words entirely beneath the hum of the air conditioner. “about performing. about the concerts.”

“are you nervous?” he nods, tucking his face into the comforter. “you’re an incredible performer. all the work you’ve done to improve is showing, even if you don’t think it is. you’ll be amazing out there - i know you’ll be. and if you need any help, i’m here. and so are the members.”

carefully, you begin to card your fingers through his hair. yujin sighs softly in response, nuzzling his head even further into your pillows. you can all but feel him relax against your touch. “how are you feeling now?” 

“better,” he says, muffled against the fabric. twisting to face you, yujin sleepily smiles up at you. “thank you.” 

you smile softly, leaning down to press a gentle kiss against his temple. he takes a deep breath in response, finally allowing his eyes to flutter closed. “sweet dreams, jinnie.”

Scouring the gas stations shelves for any new items, you barely hear the rain hailing down. Yujin followed behinds you, occasionally picking up a few items and setting them in the basket.

“Hey. Look at this.” Yujin calls out to you picking up a new flavor of iced tea. Turning around, he holds up the tea packet and proudly shows it off, turning it around in a 180 angle multiple times. “Yeah that’s right. Last one as well!” He boasts before tossing it in the basket.

He takes the basket out of your hands and then brings it to the checkout where the cashier looks like he’d rather be anywhere than there. “Your total is ₩41,418.” The cashier says bored. Yujin pulls out a random card from him wallet, seeing your confused look he smugly says, “Ricky Hyung.”

As Yujin finishes paying for it all, you both quickly realize that the rain has started to downpour. “Oh. I forgot an umbrella.” Yujin says looking concerned. “Well we can wait it out?” You suggest to him before he quickly shakes his head. “I’ve got a better idea. Hold this.” He hands you the bag filled with your snacks.

“What are you doing?” You ask while he ignores it and takes off his jacket. He places it over your head and completely ignores himself as his jacket takes the beating from the rain. “Yujin you’re going to get sick.” You protest as he leads you down the street back to the dorms. “When I do, just make sure to use Ricky Hyungs card to buy things. He won’t notice.”

ACT ONE: THE IMPERIAL COMMAND

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN, all your life, you’ve been told to hate someone because they’re your family’s opponent and then all of a sudden (in a matter of five days), you need to act as if you’ve been on good terms with them? No guidebook or school course could have prepared you for what’s to happen right now.

Yes, of course you’re aware that you’d be married off to your father’s choice of family for all your life, you think you’ve accepted it already. I mean, one would think so after being reminded of it all your life right? It’s not like it’s uncommon anyways. Everyone in the nobility marries through convenience and then has flings with their lovers. It’s more common than you think. You’d know, since you caught one of your father’s friends with their mistress once.

Yet, who’d assume that you’d be married off to the Ducal House of Shen of all people? You don’t think you would have put that in your bingo (yes, bingo exists back then) list this year—or any year to be honest.

For a bit of background to the confused readers (breaking the fourth wall let’s gaurr), The Zerose Empire exists with four ducal houses: Park, which exists in the west; Kim, from the South; Han of the East, and Shen of the North. Your family, The Ducal house of Han, has always been in opposition with the Ducal house of Shen. It was a fact that everyone knew, and it was a dislike that stemmed from way back then. (one so long that you don’t even know the reason anymore, just that you weren’t supposed to like them.)

And yes, the dislike is still rooted to this day. You could imagine how tired the Emperor, other noble houses, and ministry workers were. By this point they were quite sick of the petty arguments from both the ducal households. So sick, in fact, that Emperor Zhanghao IV, used the imperial command and declared that “Duke Han shall bring forth his most beloved daughter to marry Duke Shen’s successor.”

Your father almost had a heart attack after the declaration, but it was of no use to bargain since the imperial command was used.

In your opinion, father was a pretty good man. Not perfect or clean of course, but good. Your mother was the first wife, and surprisingly, the only wife he truly loved. It was unfortunate that mother died a year after you were born because of her weak body, and even more unfortunate that her only child turned out to be pretty weak too. He had remarried once more since then, and has had a few mistresses and children out of wedlock in an attempt to cure his aching heart. Despite the new ladies, you were still the first in his heart considering you were the only child he had out of the wife he loves.

Having a big room beside your father’s in the second floor all to yourself when all the others had to be in the first floor spiked a few jealous hearts, but your father was persistent and only allowed you the best despite your not-so-healthy body. So it was to no one’s surprise that Emperor Zhanghao meant for your father to pick you to be married to the young master of the Shen Ducal house.

That was five days ago. Your father had begged for your understanding to comply with the Emperor’s words despite him not liking the command either. He had told you that it was for the unity of the Empire and that the Ducal house of Shen had promised to your father and the Emperor that they would treat you with utmost respect; and that if they break that promise, you would be sent back with ten times the alimony paid by your father. (and boy was the original alimony already a crazy amount)

You had told your father to not worry about it as you knew your father worried for you greatly. After all, in his eyes, you were still the weak baby that he held in his arms just last week. How could he send a weak child to the harsh northern lands where you were unfamiliar with everything? Of course, you had your own worries too. Different from your father’s, though. Mostly about your own soon to be husband.

Unlike your family, where many children reside, the Ducal house of Shen only had one heir. The young master of the North, Shen Quanrui, was said to be a cold man according to the rumors you’ve heard from your maids. He was quiet and reserved, only showing his face in high society once in a blue moon. Similar to you in that matter, except it was because you were often too sick to attend rather than introverted.

You too had only met him once, in the Empire’s founding anniversary ball. Though you didn’t have the best memory, you could easily recall that face of his. Blonde hair that seemed to be dyed and striking blue eyes, it was as if he stepped out of a fantasy storybook. You’re sure he wore colored contacts back then, considering that both the Duke and Duchess had dark eyes. Nevertheless it didn’t change the fact that he was probably the most handsome man you’ve ever seen. You remember exchanging eye contact with him for a bit longer than you should have, and you remember how he raked your appearance with his eyes as if he was the hunter and you were the prey. You rolled your eyes and left back then despite the butterflies you got.

The sound of your bedroom door opening strips you out of your imagination.

”Sister,” said the voice of a young boy, “can I come in?”

”Yes,” you answered, “come in, Yujin.”

Han Yujin, the son of your father and his second mistress, was the only half-sibling you deemed close to you. His mother had died early on due to the same sickness as yours did, leaving him alone to fend off all the jealous eyes around him. You had sympathized with him, so you decided to keep him close and make him untouchable as one of your people. The young boy has since then grown attached to you, listening attentively to everything you say. Now, the young boy had become strong and wise, making him one of the successor candidates.

”I heard from father that you’d be married to that damned man, Shen Quanrui or whatever,” Sulked Yujin.

”That damned man,” you sighed, “is still a respectable man who fended off the wild beasts and is a close aide of the Emperor, you shouldn’t speak of him with that tone.”

“But—sister! He’s our enemy, we’re not supposed to like him! And—and, I heard from the maids that he’s a cruel and heartless man. What if he treats you harshly and locks you up in a tower or something!? What if he’s an indifferent husband who never looks after his wife and just messes around with other women? You deserve someone who’d love you and treat you as the apple of their eye—someone like—”

”Yujin,” Your voice stopped his train of thoughts as you held his hand, “don’t worry too much, okay? It’s not like I’m going there alone. My personal maids and Dr. Seok would be with me in the North, and they would report to father if anything happened. If he ever treats me cruelly, then I’ll be back here before you know it.”

”But still…I don’t want you away from me..”

“AWEE is my baby brother worried for me~” you teased as you squished him into a hug, emitting a loud Hey! from him as he tried to get out of your tight grasp.

Whether your words were to reassure him or you; however, you don’t know.

Who would have known that you’d get married to that man two weeks from now? Who would have known that you’d have to pretend like you didn’t hate this man all your life because you’re supposed to marry him? Who would have known that the first time you’d exchange pleasantries with your soon to be husband would be in your wedding aisle? Who would have known that you’d be moving away from your father’s protection and into the cold and dangerous land in less than a month? Goodness, may the heavens spare you.

it was the last stretch. you and yujin stared intensely at the screen, both of you focused to the max. you drift the last turn, getting ahead of yujin.

he gasps, “what?! no, no, no!”

you grin as you finish in first place and your character, yoshi, cheers on the screen as celebratory music starts playing. yujin’s waluigi finishes seconds after you, letting out a grunt as he passed the finish line.

you turn to him and stick your tongue out at him. “you can never beat me.”

he turns to you, pauses for a moment, places his controller down, and then tackles you.

you yell, “hey!! yujin!” though it comes out quite muffled as your head is pressed against his shoulder.

“hmm,” he hums.

“yujin let me go.”

he shakes his head, “no.”

you sigh and give in, hugging him back. at that he giggles. “you can’t resist my cuddles.”

you scoff and he loosens his grip on you, moving back to look at you face to face. he automatically smiles wide, pinching your cheek.

“really jinnie.”

he smiles even wider if that’s even possible. “i love it when you call me jinnie.”

it’s your turn to smile. you mumble, “i love you.”

your eyes widen. his eyes widen. you’ve never said the ‘l word’ to each other.

“u-uh sorry, i don’t know what i was th-“ you stutter out.

“i love you too, yn.”

your mouth hangs open and he laughs softly at that.

“you’re so funny, why wouldn’t i say it back to you pretty?”

you pause, your mind glitching at every word he says. “w-well, i didn’t know if you’d say it back! i mean, we’ve never said it before..”

he hums, “i’ve been wanting to say it for awhile.”

“really?”

“yes yn of course. you’re the light of my life, i spend every day, 24/7, thinking about you.”he chuckles, “i constantly fall in love with you over and over again, but i’m not complaining. if, no, when this continues for the rest of my life i’ll be the happiest person to exist.”

you face begins to heat up and you feel your heartbeat quicken. what doesn’t help is that his face is inches away from yours, messy brown hair and comfy black hoodie making your stomach do backflips.

“jinnie..” you start, the corners of your lips lifting. “how did i get so lucky to find you?”

he grins before placing a kiss on your lips softly. the both of you smile into the kiss, happiness emitting from you and him.

you pull away and ruffle his hair. “i love you, jinnie.”

“i love you, yn.”

you two rest there, staring into each others eyes and giggling. that is until he stops abruptly and deadpans,

“oh just so you know, i let you win in mario kart.”

chapter 8: haemin

haemin. rina's right hand woman. she'd tell her everything that happens to her. whether it's tragic or as minor as a stranger giving her a dirty look on the train. why didn't she just tell her that she was seeing him, even if it was an innocent friendship at first? that's something she'd immediately tell her.

but something in the back of her mind urged her not to. she knows how much of a big fan she is. she would lie awake at night imagining the outcomes of of her finding out. the best case scenario is her interrogating you about it. the worst case scenario is her freaking out and telling people that she has a connection to her favorite boy group.

despite rina being her best friend, rina isn't her only friend. out of the two, haemin has always been the more social, more caring one. it was always haemin looking after rina and pushing her to do things. it has always been that way.

with rina finally getting close to hao; she didn't want to say it out loud but she wanted to finally have something, someone for herself. haemin had her own friends and relationships that didn't involve her, so why couldn't she just have this one thing for herself?

why can't i just keep this one secret?

rina glanced over at haemin.

they both heard that phone buzzing. there was no denying it.

rina watched as haemin walked to the shelf behind her. she can't stop her, that would be even worse.

"oh. my god." you would think she saw a ghost. "zhang hao. rina that is zhang hao. strawberry, z is zhang hao."

rina did not want to look back and see the scene unfold before her. but she had to. she looked at haemin's shocked face and couldn't imagine the one on hao's face.

"hi." his signature greeting alongside an awkward chuckle and smile in an awkward situation.

"haemin, zhang hao. zhang hao, haemin."

"when were you gonna tell me about this?" she seemed more calm than rina had prepared for. it seemed too good to be true, but rina was internally thanking the universe for this reaction.

"i was actually planning on it. very soon." truth was, she was planning on keeping it from her for far longer than this.

"well. are you guys dating or something now?" haemin crossed her arms.

"yes." - "no."

the two looked at each other confused.

"no." - "yes."

"i'm guessing you guys haven't thought this through yet."

"it's very new. we'll definitely have to discuss this." rina scratched the back of her neck "are you sure you're okay with all of this?"

"of course! why would this be a bad thing. i'm happy for you!" haemin engulfed her in a tight hug.

rina gave hao an i don't know look facing him in the hug. he only shrugged back at her.

"i'll leave you two to it." she smiled and left them alone.

"i have no clue what that was about." out of all the scenarios rina drafted, that one never came up.

"strawberry. wow, you really serious about that." hao found the entire thing amusing. everyday he was finding out something new about rina.

"i warned you we did talk about you quite a lot when you were a faceless stranger."

"at least i never have to worry about you liking me for my looks or status."

"okay, heartthrob." she rolled her eyes.

finally, she started to lock up the store. she would definitely have to tell her boss about the extra time she spent in the store after hours. someone could've easily robbed the place, but she didn't get paid enough to be worrying about that.

they were now standing outside of the closed store, his phone buzzing in his pocket again.

"yeah, i got caught up. relax. no, the store is closed. okay, whatever." he hung up "sorry, my members are so obsessed with me."

"it's kinda late, i'd be worried too. you can go home now. today drained me."

"i should introduce you to them. a proper introduction."

"i think i embarrassed myself enough." rina recalled the humiliating interaction with them from the bowling alley.

"them of all people are not immune to embarrassing themselves, trust me." he reassured her.

"we'll have to find out who is more embarrassing between us. i think i'm in the lead right now."

they shared a goodbye hug. it was tight, warm, and lasted so long that you'd think they were never going to see each other again.

HAN YUJIN greets you with rosy cheeks and a soft smile. in the safety of your bedroom he finally allows his tiredness to slowly catch up with him. you can almost see how deeply exhaustion has settled into his bones as he stumbles into your bedroom, all but collapsing into your arms. 

yujin’s grip is unusually tight as his arms snake around your waist. you can almost feel the tension slowly slipping away from his shoulders as he leans in, burying his face into the crook of your neck. “i missed you,” he mumbles; his voice is slightly muffled by the fabric of your t-shirt. 

“i missed you, too,” you hum. you tighten your grip around his neck slightly when he leans more and more of his body weight against your chest. “did you have a long day?”

you receive a soft sigh in response. his breath ghosts against your neck; stray strands of his hair tickle against your exposed skin. he relaxes slightly when you reach up, rubbing your hand against his back in an attempt to comfort him. “i’m just tired,” he finally mumbles. 

yujin blinks tiredly when you coax him away from hiding his face in your neck. you can feel the heat from his cheeks against your fingertips as you hold his face in your hands, carefully examining his features. he stiffens slightly when you brush your thumb against the dark circles lingering beneath his eyes. “when was the last time you got some sleep?”

“i don’t know. we’ve been busy with practice and i had to catch up on a few assignments.”

“come on,” you say, guiding him towards your bed. yujin follows with no complaints, remaining quiet as you slide underneath your covers beside him. “you deserve to get some rest.” 

yujin all but melts against your touch when you reach up, gently carding your fingers through his hair. his eyes flutter shut, relishing in the feeling of your nails carefully massaging against his scalp. “you can take a break if you need one, you know,” you whisper. you twist silky strands of his dyed hair between your fingers, carefully undoing any tangles that had occurred throughout the day. “everyone will understand.” “thank you,” he mumbles, so quiet you nearly miss the words entirely. yujin shifts a little closer to you, tangling your bodies together. “for always taking care of me. even when i forget to do it myself. i know i don’t say it enough, but i love you.”

it was unreal to haerin how her best friend had fallen in love with y/n. hanni pham of all people was deeply in love with you, someone who barely even looked her way. hanni even showed up to all your games making the excuse that it was so she could take photos for the school newspaper, but everyone knew it was just for you.

it was one of those days right now actually, hyein and haerin sighing as they accompanied hanni to make sure she didn’t do anything stupid.

you and your teammates were currently strategizing, the other team calling a timeout as your team was up by forty points.

“han what even is interesting about this, every game y/n makes like five threes and carries her team to victory. nothing else ever happens.” hyein complains, making hanni roll her eyes.

“and then she gaslights herself into thinking y/n shot them all for her.” haerin says, making hanni side eye her.

“all you guys do is complain,” hanni groans, “also i do not gaslight myself?! she really does shoot them for me.” hanni says.

“you’re insane.” haerin says simply, making hanni come back to reality.

“my bad.” hanni mutters, grabbing her camera again as the timeout concluded.

the girl had an insane amount of photos already, some of your best plays coming from this game. it was concerning how much of cameo you made in each new issue of the newspaper, it was actually something you noticed recently but you brushed it off and just thought you were having a good season.

you were running down the court waiting for a pass when a bright flash blinded you, making you groan. you looked up to see three girls in the stands, scrambling and yelling at each other. two of them were yelling at the girl with a camera on her neck, the girl having her hand over her mouth in shock.

“hanni you cannot be serious right now.” hyein deadpanned, looking at her older friend.

“I DIDN’T KNOW IT WOULD DO THAT?” hanni says, her hand quickly making its way to cover her mouth.

she would never recover from this, she looked down to see if you noticed just to see you staring directly at her making her heart drop.

“hyein.”

“hanni?”

“look.”

“oh my god.”

“i blinded the love of my life.” hanni says, sinking down into her seat.

“how do you manage to ruin everything.” haerin says, making hanni roll her eyes and ignore her friend.

your teammate hadn’t realized you weren’t paying attention, the girl throwing the ball to you for an easy shot. her jaw dropped when she saw you fall to the ground, the ball leaving a big red mark on your face.

the ref blew his whistle, calling a timeout in which all of your teammates ran towards you to figure out what happened.

“y/n what are you doing?!” yujin shouts, anger laced throughout her voice.

you didn’t even understand the girl as you just barely woke up from your small sleep, causing you to touch your head and feel blood.

“ah shit.” you curse, the pressure of your hand sending pain coursing through your body.

“y/n did you hear me?! what the hell are you doing?” yujin repeats, your other teammates concerned.

“yujin..” was all you could mutter before you saw black. you knew it was over, this was most definitely your last game of the season.

back up in the stands hanni couldn’t believe her eyes, all because of her stupid camera flash you were now injured.

“hanni, you actually just may have made the most insane fuck up of all time.” haerin says.

“i genuinely have no words.” hanni says, her eyes trained on you as your teammates carry you out the gym. the match even had to be finished early, with the lead your team had it didn’t even matter much.

if hanni even thought she had any chance with you before, it was most definitely gone now. she didn’t even know how she fucked up this bad.

the next day hanni anxiously tapped her fingers against her usual lunch table, danielle and minji confused at her unusual antics.

nobody knew what y/n was looking at while she was distracted, so it was a complete mystery to the two girls what had happened yesterday.

“hanni, are you good?” minji asks, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“yeah! just anxious about my spanish test.” hanni lies quickly, looking around after like she was being interrogated for a crime.

“um okay..” minji says, she knew there was no spanish test today (they had the same class..) but she chose to not question any further.

a small conversation picked up between dani and hyein, haerin sometimes chiming in with minji. hanni couldn’t even focus, she was so unbelievably worried about you.

hanni couldn’t get image of you on the ground out of her head, a lingering feeling of guilt following her everywhere. thankfully she had yet to see you, she knew she would probably break down.

hanni was also nervous that you would confront her, tell her that she ruined your life or that she was awful but she knew you wouldn’t. that was what drew her towards you. regardless of how your friends and teammates acted, you were the kindest person ever. whenever a new issue came out you would compliment her on her work, as hanni usually worked on the sports section alone. it was a simple gesture really, but coming from you it meant the world to hanni.

in conclusion the girl was smitten with you, and she wanted nothing more than to know you were okay.

hanni knew it was stupid. but she let herself walk into the nurses office, where you currently were getting checked on.

hanni thought it would be fine, considering they had a student nurse at the moment who she knew well. she walked in and greeted her friend, the older boy smiling at her.

“hi hanni.” huening kai greets the girl quickly, before turning back his attention to your wound.

“oh sorry kai, i didn’t know you still had someone in here.” hanni apologizes, knowing well she knew you were in there.

you stared at hanni in disbelief, you couldn’t really see her when you were on the court so her beauty amazed you. maybe it was okay that she blinded you, and also sort of caused you a major injury.

“no worries hanni! i actually need to go grab something from the main office really quickly, can you watch y/n for me?” kai says, to which hanni nods almost immediately.

“thanks! y/n keep your head down.” kai commands, noticing the way you sat up to look at hanni.

“oh yeah, sorry..” you mutter, laying back down slowly as kai left.

there was a moment of silence, before you sat up almost immediately alarming hanni.

“y/n you’re gonna—“ hanni starts, being cut off by you.

“it was you, wasn’t it.” you say eerily, further examining hanni’s face.

“huh?” hanni questions, her heart dropping to her ass. she didn’t think you would acknowledge it.

“it’s okay hanni!” you retort quickly, noticing the change in the girls demeanor.

“next time just wait until i actually make the shot.” you tease her, making hanni groan.

“it was really an accident i’m so so so so so so so sorry.” hanni mumbles just loud enough for you to hear.

“it’s fine hanni, your photos are actually really good. i use them on insta all the time.” you reassure the girl, taking her hand in yours making her unbelievably nervous.

“you do?” hanni says dumbfoundedly. (she actually knew that, she loved scrolling through your instagram, but you didn’t need to know that.)

“yeah, i mean you manage a whole section of the newspaper yourself for a reason. you always manage to catch my good side, it’s actually kind of scary.” you say, making hanni smile nervously.

“i just pay close attention you know, i love basketball!” hanni lies through her teeth, she didn’t know shit about basketball she just liked watching you play.

“oh really? who’s your favorite player?” you ask.

“um… lebron james?” hanni admits quietly, looking away in embarrassment at the way you burst out into laughter at her response.

“wow, you seem very well versed on basketball ms pham.” you say, still giggling at how unsure she sounded giving her response.

“i just— oh shut up.” hanni deadpans, noticing that you were now teasing her on purpose.

silence filled the room once again, causing you to lock eyes with hanni. you finally got to see her in all her glory, your eyes slowly scanning her face until they stopped at her lips.

she looked so kissable in that moment to you, the thought of her making you smile. what hanni didn’t know is that you were actually obsessed with her too, you’re teammates hated you for it always calling her the pretty girl in the stands.

you looked back up to see hanni staring at your lips too, making you ask a question on impulse.

“can i kiss you?”

another beat of silence, making you nervous.

“please.”

you wrap your arms around hanni’s neck, crashing your lips onto hers as she held your waist. you knew kai would be back soon but you didn’t care, you had been waiting forever for this.

the two of you only pulled away for air, addicted to the feeling of your lips on each others. though every good thing comes to an end, the two of you jumping at the sound of the door opening.

kai stood there dumbfounded, “you know what, i’m not even gonna ask.”

“um, y/n you’re free to go! after you’re done with whatever..” kai says, smiling awkwardly.

he quickly closed the door making you laugh, hanni hiding in the crook of your neck.

you and yujin were getting ready in your bathroom together. you had your finest most dapper clothing on, yujin in a crisp black suit, you also in your most fancy attire.

you were helping him apply his makeup, dapping a bit of concealer under his eyes. you were on your tippy toes, reaching up to his face. he was looking down at you, a dorky smile on his face.

“what?” you said.

“nothing,” he said, clearing his throat and blushing lightly.

you finished applying his makeup and lowered yourself back to your height. placing the makeup brush back onto the table, yujin pinches your cheek.

you frown at him, “really yujin.”

him, who is still pinching your cheek, chuckles. “you’re just too cute.”

you roll your eyes and pull his hand away from your face. you pat the sides of his suit with a smile.

“i feel so silly doing this, we’re dressing up all fancy just to eat at taco bell,” you snicker.

“i know,” he laughs, “but it’ll be fun!! i’ve always wanted to do this and isn’t it a cute date idea?”

“this is your idea of a cute date?” you cock an eyebrow.

he avoids eye contact sheepishly. “yeah..”

you grin at his sudden shyness. “any idea you have is a great idea yujin. now, let’s go!!”

the two of you entered the taco bell dramatically. after hearing your reassurance, yujin ran to get two pairs of thick rimmed sunglasses for both of you to wear. he said, and you quote, “this is another one of my great ideas so now you have to do this with me.” you’re convinced he went all pouty just to get you to wear the sunglasses with him.

so here the two of you were, walking into taco bell with your most dapper clothing and sunglasses on. yours were plain dark black ones, his were dark black with rhinestones on it. this was a very serious matter for him.

you and yujin approached the cash register and the blonde cashier looked at you guys with the strangest expression.

“hi.. welcome to taco bell. um, what can i get you?”

you lifted your sunglasses off your face and put them in your pocket, scanning the menu of what you want.

“i’ll get a mexican pizza and..” you turn to yujin, “wanna share a large baja blast?”

he nods. “okay, and a large baja blast,” you smile.

the cashier nods, putting in your order. you look to his name tag. ‘ricky’ in all caps is written on it. how interesting, you think, you’ve never met someone named ricky.

“okay anything else?” said ricky.

“i’ll also get two doritos locos tacos, thank you,” yujin says, he still has his sunglasses on.

ricky nods again punching in yujins order. “okay that will be $13.06,” he says.

yujin pulls out his wallet from his pocket dramatically and pays in cash with exact change. you two grab your receipt and sit down at a booth.

as you sit down on opposite sides of the table you both burst into laughter. “did you see the way he looked at us??”

yujin responds, struggling a bit because he was laughing so hard, “that was hilarious!!”

the number on your receipt was called and you both calmed yourselves down from your laughing fit. that was quick, you thought.

“i’ll go get it,” yujin says, standing up and going to the counter.

he came back with your guys order, still wearing his sunglasses.

“yujin, when are you gonna take those damn sunglasses off,” you deadpan.

he lays out the food on the table and sits down. “they’re a part of me yn!”

you snort before reaching to take them off. he dodges your hand, frowning at you.

“don’t you dare.”

“watch me jinnie.”

you jump up and go into his booth seat, clawing at his glasses. he holds both of your hands, swerving left and right to avoid your attempts.

you shout, “YUJIN!! really!! come on, you look so funny!!”

he yells back, “NO!! i have free will yn. you cant take these away from me.”

still play fighting yujin, you see a familiar face in the corner of your eye.

“hey!! stop creating a ruckus!!” the cashier, ricky, shouts.

the two of you slowly turn to him. yujin is still holding your arms and you’re leaning on him.

he points at you, and then at yujin. “i’m kicking the both of you out.” he then mumbles, “just one more hour of my shift.. these weirdos are such a bothersome..”

yujin starts, “but-“

“no buts!!” the tired, blonde worker said sternly. “get out right now.”

you and yujin scrambled out of your booth, quickly taking your food and baja blast. once you were outside of taco bell you looked at each other and immediately started laughing.

“i can’t believe we just got kicked out!!” you say in between chuckles.

“yeah well it was all your fault!!” yujin took off his sunglasses and wipes the hysterical tears off his face.

you gasp, “now you take off your sunglasses?? really??”

he sticks his tongue at you and you both just stand there for a moment, realizing what had happened. you both are still holding your uneaten taco bell, outside of the taco bell you just got kicked out of.

“what.. what do we do now..?” you say, puzzled.

yujin shrugs before looking around. his eyes lock on a certain building in the shopping center you were in. he points to it and questions, “movie?”

you pause and think about it but come to the conclusion that it’s a good idea. “yeah let’s go!” you exclaim, smiling at him.

the two of you sneak your food into the movie theater and movie hop; somehow not getting caught. (you both know it’s because the workers don’t have enough energy to get mad at two teenagers in formal attire having harmless fun.) between movies, you and yujin discuss the recently watched movie and your ratings, thoughts, etcetera. some of them made you sob, some made you laugh, but its fun the entire time. after all, you’re on a silly date with your silly boyfriend, yujin.
