Although his grandmother had wanted him to be, Lafayette wasn’t Catholic.
Like any other Parisian, he might attend a special Christmas or Easter service, but he wouldn’t call himself a Catholic. His grandmother had always wanted him to be more devout in his faith. Since his father had died when he was young and his mother was a young woman just starting off her political career, his grandmother raised him for the most part.
She was an organist and would play for different churches every weekend, never finding a church she liked well enough to stay very long. His grandmother had even taught Lafayette to play a few songs. At one point, she had bought Lafayette a crucifix on a chain to keep with him.
It wasn’t one of those cool, sleek chains you would see people wearing proudly. It was a silver chain with dark beads on it, something you might see an old lady wearing. A silver chain with a tiny Jesus on a tiny cross. He had lost it almost immediately.
Lafayette had always had a habit of misplacing items. In high school, he had conveniently lost his homework on multiple occasions. He was always losing just one half of a pair of socks. Could you imagine how stupid he looked walking around with one black sock and one white sock on? He couldn’t even remember how many times he had woken up hungover with no idea of where his wallet or keys were.
The point is, Lafayette was a grown man who was used to losing things. Yet, no matter how many items he lost, he still wasn’t prepared to lose Y/n.
And yes, he knew it was all his fault. Everything seemed to be his fault these days. Lafayette wasn’t even denying that he had made another huge mistake. What kind of idiot sleeps with the secretary of the girl he was in love with? Seriously, why did I write such an idiot?
It had been eight years since Paris. After all this time, Lafayette was just as proficient at destroying his relationship with Y/n as he had been when they were younger. You would think that he would learn from his mistakes, or Y/n would have been able to forgive him, but no. Maybe they were young and stupid then, but they were still very much young and very much stupid.
Lafayette had made a stupid decision. If it hadn’t been clear to him the night before, it was blatantly apparent to him the next morning while Sybil was getting dressed.
“Last night was a mistake.” He cringed at his words as soon as he said them. Last time he had woken up next to a girl and told her it was a mistake, it didn’t go so well.
“Not in a bad way, I mean,” Lafayette quickly amended. “I am sorry, was that rude to say?”
Sybil gave him a look that he couldn’t quite read. “No, it’s alright. I agree with you.”
“You do?”
“Yes,” she nodded, “it was unprofessional, and by the looks of it, it didn’t help you get whoever she is off your mind.”
Lafayette rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, looking at the bed or the floor or the window or at anyone but her. “You are right. I just... Anyway, this can’t happen again.”
“No, never. It was a bad idea to begin with,” Sybil muttered.
There was a silence that fell between them, neither of them knowing what to say until Lafayette awkwardly said, “I’ll see you around, then.”
“Right, right. Are you going to Congresswoman L/n’s election night party?” It was more of a way to fill the silence than actual curiosity.
At the reminder of Y/n, Lafayette had to stop him self from outwardly groaning, but he couldn’t help but grimace. If things with her hadn’t been messed up before, they definitely would be now.
“I should attend that, shouldn’t I? I’m just not sure Y/n will want me there.”
“You are a major donor,” Sybil pointed out. “It would make sense. If you and the Congresswoman don’t get along, why do you come around the office so often and make contributions?”
He didn’t even know how to respond to that, and his silence was telling. Suddenly everything clicked for Sybil. The frequent visits to Congresswoman L/n’s office. The disappointment on his face when she had told him Y/n specifically didn’t want to talk to him. The woman Sybil had asked him about last night. The way he called her by her first name.
“Oh no. The woman you’re in love with is Congresswoman L/n, isn’t it?” Sybil pieced it together.
Lafayette’s mouth hung open silently, his eyes told her she was correct.
“I never would have kissed you if I had known. I never would have done a lot of things with you if I had known. My boss? Please tell me I’m wrong about this.”
“You’re not.”
She groaned. “And it was so obvious, wasn’t it?”
“It’s obvious?”
“Of course! How did I not realize until now? I don’t want to get in the middle of anything, I just didn’t know.”
“You’re not getting in the middle of anything.” Lafayette shook his head. “I ruined any chance I had with Y/n long before last night. I really think she wants me out of her life this time. I should get on the next plane back to France, shouldn’t I?”
“Are you asking me, your one night stand, for advice?” Sybil said. “Not going to lie, this is a first for me. You’re going to miss the election night party if you leave.”
“Does it matter if I go to this event? Y/n doesn’t want to be with me, showing up to a party isn’t going to change that.”
“Look,” Sybil said firmly, “if you really love her, does it really matter if she wants to be with you or not? If you love her, you should want what’s best for her and her career, even if that means she still doesn’t want to be with you.”
He bit his cheek and thought her words over. “I get that, it’s just...”
“It’s your decision. Regardless of whatever happened between the two of you, she could use your support at the election party. Think about it, okay?”
John Adams was going to win the race, he had been ahead in the polls for weeks now. Thomas Jefferson had run an admirable campaign, well, as admirable as a campaign could be that outwardly trashed congress members in the media. Y/n never took his insults personally, even though she knew Jefferson wanted her to.
Tonight she wasn’t going to let thoughts of Jefferson get her down, even though the news anchors on the television would continuously bring him up. Tonight was going to be a big win for the Democratic party. Jefferson was trailing Adams in electoral votes, and there were only a few states left to be accounted for.
Y/n has spent most of the night talking with voters and showing off some of her bartending skills at the venue they had rented out for the election party. She was having a lively conversation with a single-mom when Lafayette walked in the door. Suddenly, it was like she had tunnel vision. Everyone else was dark and blurry, but everything about Lafayette seemed to be vibrant and in focus.
Since the last time she had seen him, Y/n had been doing her best not to waste her time thinking about him. Not that it was an easy task to do, Lafayette had a way of being memorable. Still, Y/n had bigger things to focus on than an old flame.
Now election night had finally rolled around. No politician was bothering Y/n because they were too focused on the presidential election or their own reelections. And at this time at night, the polls in Y/n’s district had closed. There was no more campaigning she could do at this moment, so she had nothing to distract her from her former best friend who was staring at her from the other side of the room.
Saying a brief apology to the woman she was talking to, Y/n began weaving her way through the crowd until she was standing a foot a way from Lafayette. Her red lips formed a cordial smile, and to any onlooker, it looked like a kind greeting between two acquaintances.
“I didn’t think you would show up,” Y/n said cooly.
He bit the inside of his cheek and tilted his head to the said ever so slightly. “I almost didn’t. I know things have been awkward between us lately, but I wanted to show my support for your success. No matter what happens between us, I’m always going to have your back Y/n.”
Her mouth parted slightly, a little surprised and touched by his response. When she didn’t respond, Lafayette quickly added on, “but I can always leave if you don’t want me here.”
“No, no.” She closed her mouth and shook her head. “No, stay. I want you to stay.”
A small smile began making its way across Lafayette’s features. He opened his mouth to say something else, but Nathan had appeared at Y/n’s shoulder.
“Sorry to interrupt,” Nathan said, adjusting his glasses. “Good to see you could make it, Monsieur de Lafayette. You think I could borrow the Congresswoman for a moment?” He turned to face Y/n. “They’re about to call your election.”
“Of course, I’ll see you around, Lafayette.” She gave him another smile before Nathan ushered her to the front of the room where a local newscaster was announcing the results for her district.
The room went quiet and the volume on the tv was turned up. The anchor smiled at the camera and announced, “...and it looks like Representative Y/n L/n has won her reelection campaign by a large margin. Horatio Gates trailed the congresswoman by...”
Y/n wouldn’t know how much she had beaten Horatio Gates by until the next moment. Everything after the anchor announced she had won reelection went unheard. An upbeat victory song had begun playing somewhere in the room, yelling and cheering warmed Y/n from her toes up to her head. Her mouth hung open for the longest time, and before she knew it, she was pulling the nearest person, Nathan, into a tight hug.
At some point, reporters had swarmed the venue and Y/n began giving out answers to all the questions they threw at her. There were a lot of congratulations and thank yous going around, and Y/n nearly lost herself in all the wonderful chaos. There was more wonderful chaos when John Adams was announced the next president of the United States later that evening, but Y/n hadn’t even been given enough time to soak in her own victory.
Don't follow men out to the street at 3 a.m.
The election party officially ended at midnight, but that didn't stop people from staying for a few more hours. At 3 a.m. there were maybe five people left at the party. Now that most people were gone Lafayette decided he would approach Y/n one last time.
“Hey, I just wanted to make sure I congratulated you on your win again before I head back to France,” he said.
Y/n blinked. “You’re going home?”
“Early tomorrow morning.”
Y/n’s mouth hung open slightly, but she didn't say anything. Lafayette gave her a thin smile, a polite nod, and then headed out the door.
He had already exited the venue when Y/n processed what had happened. Not heeding my earlier warning, she followed Lafayette out onto the street at 3:00 a.m.
“So that's it, then, is it?” She called after him. “That’s the end?”
He turned around and raised an eyebrow. “The end of what?”
“The end of us. You're just going to leave?”
“Us? What do you want me to say, Y/n? That I regret what I did? That I'm sorry? Because I've already tried that.” He sounded exhausted. “You are just tormenting me now. Do you know how much this is hurting me?”
“You?” Y/n couldn't believe he was acting like the victim. “This is all on you. I can't count how many times you’ve hurt me
“What, you think I don't know that I messed up? You think I don’t regret the decisions I made every day?” Lafayette ran a hand through his hair. “Chèrie, I've used every kind of soap I have, and I still don't feel clean.”
The raw honesty in his words struck both of him deeply. A heavy silence settled between them. Eventually Lafayette reached into his pocket and pulled out two items. He desperately thrusted the objects into her open palm.
“I've been holding on to those for years. I don't want to keep them any longer.”
Y/n looked at the items he had given her. One was an old, worn ticket from a concert. The other item was a necklace. The one she had worn on their one shared night together. Y/n thought she had lost it and never expected to see it again.
“I dated lots of women when I was younger,” he admitted. “It never ended well. I've never been good at being sincere. Every relationship I've been in I ruined. You want to know why we never dated? Because I loved you. To the moon and back.”
“To the moon and back?” She repeated.
He nodded. “I loved you since I've known you. I couldn't let you be another girl I ruin things with. I guess everyone knew we were in love with each other except for us. Even Molly figured it out. That's why we broke up.
“Why didn't we ever tell each other?”
“We were just kids,” he suggested. “We spent all our time watching lovers in rom-coms tell each other what we were too afraid to tell ourselves.”
Y/n stared at the items she held in her hand. She let the ticket and the necklace fall from her hand onto the dark street below.
“This doesn't change anything.” She shook her head. “You walk in dreams. Dreams of what once was, what could have been, and what never will be. You hold onto the tangible things a ticket stub from our first concert, the necklace I lost years ago. You hold onto these objects because they make your dreams feel a little more real. Something you can touch or see, but in the end? It's all in your head.”
“What are you saying, Y/n?”
“Lafayette, I don’t doubt for a second that you loved me. Maybe you still love me. It’s just not enough to make up for all the ways we’ve hurt each other. I’m tired of being hurt, okay?” Y/n tugged at the sleeves of her coat, trying to find the words to tell him what needed to be said. “I’m finally happy and successful. I’m changing the world.”
“I knew you would. I always knew you would.”
In the next few months, Y/n would replay that evening again and again in her mind until it would drive her to the brink of madness.  “Out of sight, out of mind” was a proverb Y/n wouldn’t understand until four months after the election night, when the words Lafayette had spoken to her on the street seemed like an eternity ago. When a year passed, that night seemed almost like a figment of her imagination now.
Besides, Y/n didn’t have a lot of time to think about events that had conspired over a year ago now. She had legislation to pass and funding to allocate. There was never a slow day in D.C.
“Y/n, you saw what Fox News said about you this morning?” Nathan asked, setting down a cup of coffee.
More focused on the steaming cup of coffee that had been set down in front of her than anything Nathan had said, she gave him a noncommittal shrug. “I don’t know. Was it anything new?”
Nathan considered for a moment before shaking his head. “No, not really. They were just informing the public that you’re a radical leftist who wants to abolish ICE and free healthcare for all.”
Y/n scoffed. “They figured out I wan’t to keep families together and take care of the health of millions of American citizens? Oh no.”
“You’re not bothered by any of this?”
“Well, they’re not wrong? By all definitions, I am a radical leftist.” She shrugged and pulled the warm cup of coffee closer to her. “Besides, anyone who’s watching Fox News already has a biased opinion toward me. We’ve got bigger things to worry about, yeah?”
“Yeah,” Nathan agreed. “For one thing, France announced its support for your foreign aid bill. If your bill gets passed, they pledged to match whatever amount we’re spending on foreign aid.”
This seemed to wake Y/n up in a way that her coffee just couldn’t. “Really? That’s the best news I’ve heard all day.”
“I’m glad you think so. I’ve lined an interview up for you and a French diplomat in an hour downtown. You ready to go?”
Y/n sat up straight in her chair. “You really sprung this on me! Nathan, I haven’t had anytime to prep.”
He rolled his eyes and handed her a thick binder. “It’ll just be a few questions, mostly just to show the public a picture of you and a French official side by side. You can handle any questions, you wrote the damn bill. Besides, we can prep in the car.”
Y/n figured she had no points left to argue, likely Nathan’s intention. Begrudgingly, she followed Nathan out to the front of the building and they got into the backseat of the car. They began going back and forth, Nathan asking her questions on the foreign aid bill, and Y/n responding with well articulated answers.
“See? I told you you had nothing to worry about,” Nathan said in the elevator, finally closing the binder.
Y/n rolled her eyes. “That’s because I’m just magnificent and well-spoken.”
“Yes, yes you are. You’re going to kill this interview.”
The elevator dinged and the doors opened. They began walking over to a small hair and makeup set up, and Y/n froze when she saw who was already on set laughing with the interviewer. She turned on her heel and jabbed a finger into Nathan’s chest.
“You didn’t tell me Lafayette was the French diplomat!” She hissed.
Nathan’s mouth fell open in mock surprise. “Did I forget to mention that to you? How silly of me.”
“Nathan, I swear to God. I wouldn’t have agreed to this if I had known Lafayette would be here!”
“Then it’s a good thing I didn’t tell you, huh?”
Y/n scowled at him. “I haven’t spoken to him in over a year, and last time we spoke, well...”
“I know you’re not on the best terms. Maybe this will help bury the hatchet.” Nathan suggested.
“Nathan, we need to can--”
“Oh dear, it seems I’m getting a call. I should really take this. I’ll see you back at the office, Y/n.” He motioned to his phone that was clearly not ringing and retreated back to the elevator.
After quietly cursing Nathan under her breath, Y/n resigned to her fate and allowed for some intern to touch up her hair and makeup. When they were done, she was ushered onto set in a seat next to Lafayette and across from their interviewer, J.P. Martin.
“It’s nice to finally meet you, Congresswoman L/n.” J.P. Martin said with a disarming grin. “I’m glad you could make it to this interview on such short notice.”
She forced a smile, “thank you for letting me discuss my foreign aid bill.”
Y/n could feel Lafayette’s lingering gaze on her skin, but she refused to take her eyes off the interviewer in front of her. J.P. Martin said something else flattering that Y/n didn’t take to heart, then someone on the crew began to count down, then they were rolling.
“Today I’m joined with Representative Y/n L/n and Ambassador Lafayette to discuss L/n’s foreign aid bill,” J.P. looked straight into the camera with a wide grin. “Before we get into the details of all that, it’s my understanding that Representative L/n and Ambassador Lafayette have a history. Is this true?”
She froze in her chair. How had this interviewer find out what happened between her and Lafayette? Would this be a scandal she found in the newspaper the next morning? In all the time she had taken with Nathan to prep for this interview, she was already caught off guard by the first question.
“Yes, this is very true. Y/n and I go way back. We met when she was studying abroad in Paris and quickly became close friends,” Lafayette said. Y/n finally glanced over at him, and he gave her a reassuring smile.
“Well how about that?” J.P. directed his next question at Y/n. “Was it intimidating being friends with President de La Rivière’s son?”
Y/n was feeling more relaxed now after the initial shock. “At first, yes. Of course it was. I’m pretty sure I tripped over my feet the first time I met President de La Rivière.”
“You didn’t!” J.P. said with an amused gasp.
Lafayette chuckled and nodded. “She did. I remember my mother asking me afterwards why I was friends with that awkward American.”
“Oh, I can imagine,” J.P. was positively beaming.
“I think my mother understands now that Y/n is the youngest woman serving in the United States Congress,” Lafayette was subtlety pointing out Y/n’s accomplishments. “And speaking as her son and an official ambassador from France, I can confidently say President de La Rivière was impressed with Y/n’s foreign aid bill.”
“So impressed that the French government has promised to match the amount the U.S. is spending if the bill gets passed.” J.P. turned to face Y/n, his expression turning more serious. “Tell me, Congresswoman, why do we need to increase the amount of money we spend on foreign aid? We’re already spending 39.2 billion on foreign aid.”
Y/n smiled when he asked this. Really smiled. These were the kind of questions she had prepared to answer, and she knew she had Lafayette to thank for the topic change. “J.P., most Americans think 10% of government spending should be spent on foreign aid.”
“Yes, that seems reasonable,” J.P. nodded.
“39.2 billion might seem like a big number,” Y/n continued, “but that’s less than one percent of our federal budget.”
“Is that true?”
The rest of the interview went fairly well. Y/n had intelligent answers to each question J.P. asked, and Lafayette was there to assure J.P. that France was in full support of Y/n’s bill. Before she knew it, J.P. was saying they were out of time and thanking both her and Lafayette for coming to the interview.
The crew began to disperse quickly once the interview had commenced. Now that the interview was over, the realization that Lafayette was standing beside her begun to sink in. She loved the idea of walking off the set and never seeing him again, but unfortunately, they were both headed in the direction of the singular elevator.
“I assume you’re going to the lobby as well?” Lafayette asked, pressing the down button on the elevator.
Y/n nodded. “I am.”
The elevator opened and Lafayette gestured for her to step in first before following behind her. They stood in silence for a moment. Y/n hated how slow this elevator was moving, a fact that she hadn’t noticed on the ride up.
Finally, Y/n caved and she spoke to fill the silence. “I didn’t know you were back in the United States.”
He gave her a sideways look, doing his best to hide a smile. “I’m the French Ambassador to the United States now, Y/n. Did you really not know that?”
She clicked her head and shrugged. “I might’ve read it somewhere, I guess I just forgot. I’m a busy person.”
“Oh, I know.”
Y/n turned to face Lafayette and considered him for a moment. “I suppose you’re a busy person as well, now. How’d you get this gig, nepotism?”
Lafayette laughed and leaned against the wall of the elevator. “Believe it or not, I’m extremely qualified. I’ve served as a representative for France in the EU for a couple years, worked in the state department, long with other places.”
The elevator finally opened up to the lobby, but now Y/n wasn’t ready to end their conversation. “Huh. I guess I forgot that you’re actually a pretty intelligent person under all those layers.”
“Layers of what?” He asked with an amused grin.
“Layers of stupidity.” Y/n shrugged.
Lafayette chuckled and held the door open for her. “I guess that’s fair.”
“It’s more than fair,” Y/n sighed. She looked back at him over her shoulder. “So what is it that ambassadors actually do? I’ve always been curious.”
“A lot of ceremonial gifts and handshakes,” Lafayette admitted. “But very important handshakes. I met with President Adams last week, and I’m headed to meet with Washington at Mount Vernon now.”
“Sounds luxurious. Maybe I should’ve considered becoming an ambassador if it meant I get to spend time with President Washington.”
He paused. “Well, meeting with Washington is more for personal reasons than anything to do with being an ambassador.”
“Oh yeah?” Y/n raised an eyebrow. “I forgot you were best friends with every prominent American.”
“You’re not wrong,” he grinned. “Can’t help it that everyone loves me. Democrats and Republicans. I’m planning to have dinner with Jefferson next month. And I used to be best friends with the illustrious Representative Y/n L/n.”
His words were teasing, but he noticed when Y/n tensed when he said “used to be.” She opened her mouth to respond, then closed it again. Shifting from foot to foot awkwardly, Lafayette cleared his throat and asked, “What’s next for you?”
She considered him for a moment before responding earnestly. “The Oval Office, eventually.”
“Really?”
“Are you surprised?”
He chuckled and shook his head. “Not really. I always knew you were destined for great things, Y/n.”
“Did you, now?”
“Yes, in fact,” Lafayette reached into his pocket and took out a checkbook and a pen. “Let me be one of the first investors to your presidential campaign.”
He handed her the check he had just written. Y/n stared at the check she had been handed, still not entirely processing the extra zero written on the dotted line.
“Is this a joke?”
“No, it takes a lot of money to run for president.”
“I know that, but why would you…” She trailed off, then narrowed her eyes as a thought occurred to her. “This is just you trying to win me over by spending absurd amounts of time and money on things you don’t actually care about. I’ve seen this before.”
“You’ve seen what?”
“This exact scene.” Looking around seemed to solidify Y/n’s conception. They were standing on a sidewalk. Maybe Y/n and been young and naïve in the past, but now she knew how to recognize patterns. She recognized this one. How many times before had the pair of them ended up on a sidewalk together? And how had it ended for Y/n each time?
She counted five times now. The first was the day she had met him. It was Paris, and he had a completely disarming smile that made Y/n trust him immediately.
The next time it was late, both of them were drunk, and they were laughing in the dark while they waited for a cab to drive by.
The third time was in New York, ice cream cones in both of their hands and heartbreak on the agenda. That night she had remembered especially well.
The fourth had been about a year ago now, and although she had tried to forget it, it had been burned into the back of her mind like a scar that would never heal.
This would be the fifth time, and this time she knew better.
Each sidewalk rendezvous went the same way. Every time. And worse yet, they always ended the same.
“What is this scene?” Lafayette asked, genuinely confused.
“It starts innocent enough, doesn’t it? Just two friends on a sidewalk. But this is how it goes,” she laid out the scene for him. “You’ll reach into your pocket and pull out a cigarette. I’ll tell you how unhealthy it is, but you’ll smoke anyway. We’ll smile and laugh, until it gets to the point where we don’t want to be friends anymore. Then you’ll lean in and kiss me, or, at least, I’ll be wishing you’d kiss me.
Not such a bad scene, is it? Except every time it ends the same. You’ll wake up in someone else’s bed and break my heart. I’m just so tired of letting you do this to me! I’ve finally figured you out, and it’s not going to happen again. You’re my best friend, Lafayette, but I can’t keep letting you hurt me.”
When she had finished her rant, a quietness settled between the two of them. Lafayette watched her carefully, waiting to see if she had anything else to say, but it seemed that she had gotten everything off her chest now.
“That’s not what’s going to happen this time,” he finally said.
She looked into his eyes to figure out if she really believed him. Did she really want to believe him? “No? How can you be sure?”
“There are a few things in your “Lafayette breaks Y/n’s heart” equation that have changed. First of all, I stopped smoking a while ago,” he informed her.
Y/n was beyond surprised. For as long as she had known him, he had always been a smoker. It was part of his personality and was synonymous with his name. If there were two things that she was sure she could count on, it would be Lafayette smoking cigarettes and breaking her heart. Had he really quit?
“Second,” Lafayette continued on, “I’m not going to kiss you.”
“You’re not?” She almost sounded disappointed.
“Not this time. We learned our lesson, didn’t we?” He sighed, adjusted his jacket, and let his eyes fall to the cement at his feet. “You’ve ruined me. I’m never going to be able to love anyone the way I love you. And God, I love you so much.”
His heart felt heavy, like it was sinking further and further into his chest and he didn’t know if he would be able to find it again. There was a moment of silence to mourn something that had been lost. “You know I love you. You know that, right?”
Another certain truth. “Of course I do.”
“Good. I couldn’t live with myself if you didn’t know. I love you, and I can’t tell you how much I hate that that isn’t enough.”
She smiled. The kind of smile you give when you know that something lovely is coming to an end. Sometimes there is nothing you can do but smile.
His voice was tender when he spoke again. “No one ever told me that being in love would hurt this much. Am I a sadist for wanting to love you more?”
“No, darling, you’re just a romantic. That’s the worst we could be.”
Lafayette nodded because he couldn’t find it inside himself to smile. His town car showed up to take him to the airport at that moment. He bit the inside of his cheek, considering the different things he had enough time to say. Lafayette shook his head when he came to the decision that there was nothing left to say. He had already made it to the car and opened the door when he changed his mind.
“You know,” Y/n addressed Lafayette once more. “This might be crazy, but no matter what happened between us, I always thought it would be you and I in the end.”
Lafayette paused and pulled away from the car. He hesitated before making his way to Y/n. He gently held her chin between two fingers, looking her deep in her eyes as if he was searching for her soul.
“To the moon and back, remember?” He pressed a kiss to her forehead, then parted from her and got in the waiting car.
Not everyone gets the fairytale ending you see in movies. But they loved. Really loved. And that was enough.
Real love isn’t like the movies. No, it’s painful and warm and terribly strong. Mostly it’s good.

You all have to make it up to him with a bunch of cuddles He pretends to hate it but he actually doesn’t mind going
Pride month:
Alex is so excited! He’s non-stop with telling all of you how much he loves you
He actually is super sweet during pride month and sleeps at a half decent time!
He just wants to cuddle okay?
He takes the month to celebrate his amazing partners
He’ll write you all poems, love letters, leave post-it notes everywhere
So cute
He acts like it’s valentine's day every day of pride month
“Alex we love you too, but we’re drowning in chocolates!”
“You can’t stop me”
He is not throwing away his shot to make you all feel loved and appreciated
 And a bit smothered
John gets excited as well!
He celebrates EVERYONE during pride month
Every day he wears something that’s the pride flag of colors of the day
Even if it’s a crappy bracelet he only had 5 minutes to make He tries!
He also becomes an encyclopedia of SAGA knowledge like??????????
How?????????????????
He doesn’t know everything but he’s trying!
HE ALSO WRITES STUFF ON TUMBLR EXPLAINING DIFFERENT SEXUALITIES AND GENDERS AND ALEX PROOF-READS IT FIGHT ME
“John how did you even pass English your spelling and grammar suck”
“Not everyone can write 51 essays in 6 months for extra credit Alex”
He’ll also look for positive SAGA stories that he’ll share with you all if you’re feeling down!
His eyes will light up while he tells y’all because THIS IS HIS TIME TO SHINEEEE
“You know it’s now illegal to fire someone because of their sexuality”
He’ll smile while saying it which makes everyone in the room swoon
 “Raise a glass to freedom~”
“John you have the voice of an angel but STOP SINGING”
Herc is somehow caught in the eye of the hurricane with knitting John beanies every day and reading Alex’s work and assuring him that it’s perfect
Herc uses pride month as an opportunity to learn from John?
Not because he’s questioning he just likes to know that if anyone doesn’t know where they fall in the SAGA family he can help!
He also assures everyone that they are valid no matter what anyone says via tweets
Whenever it’s one of your days he usually makes a cupcake with frosting of your pride colors!
Laf doesn’t really do much during pride month
Because he’s so extra every day pride month cannot contain his fabulousness
He will partake in any events y’all want him to go to but he’d rather just be cuddling
Warning if you do take him out somewhere at least one of y’all are going to be dragged somewhere for a quick makeout session
 He doesn’t make the rules
Usually, though all of you get taken away for a little bit for a makeout session
 He will never be satisfied
If you aren’t out to your family or friends during pride month and want to come out then THEY ARE SOOO SUPPORTIVE
Laf volunteers to go with you if you don’t want to do it alone
Herc tells you that if you aren’t ready it’s fine and just because it’s pride month doesn’t mean you have to come out  if you’re not ready
John reminds you that even if it doesn’t go well they will always love you
Keep in mind this is all said in a giant cuddle pile at 12 in the morning and everyone’s tired
When Alex joins 10 minutes later all he sleepily mumble is “You’re really awesome-and if anyone has a problem with that I’LL FIGHT THEM”
“Alex stop drinking coffee” How can so much rage be bottled in such a tiny person
No matter if you’re in or out of the closet Or which part of the SAGA family you’re in The boys love you and would do anything for you
(But Alex still will go to bed at 4am as soon as pride month is over he can’t help it) ,

Flu is in the Air
Pair: LafayettexReader Prompt: I just wanted to write, okay? Words: 680 A/N: This is my first time writing, so I apologize if this is horrid. I'm also on mobile, so don't get me started on how difficultly annoying this app is. Lafayette was always mostly independent, and that was something that I had always admired about him. He didn't need me to do everything for him. At least, that's what I thought before he got sick. It started with a cough. It slowly became a cold. Then, it decided to turn into the flu. The cough worried me, but he'd consistently assure me that he was okay. It didn't prevent me from forcing a spoonful of cough syrup down his throat. "I am feeling well, mon amour. You do not need to worry," he tries, smiling at me. "You just don't want to drink it," I accuse, and he gasps. "Moi? I would not dare!" he defends. He places a hand on his chest and stands up straight. "I am not a liar." "That was a lie," I retort, and he opens his mouth to speak. I quickly shove in the spoon and tilt it forwards. He swallows the thick liquid and makes a bitter face. Over the course of the next few days, his coughing had become progressively worse and his sinuses a bother. This only prompted me to become more careful. "I am feeling much better. Je vous promets," he insists as I place my hand on his forehead. His skin is feverish. "You are sick," I inform for what feels like the millionth time. Then everything sets into place, and his immune system crashes. I wake up to the sound of him coughing. I sit up and turn the lamp on. The clock reads 3:19 A.M. "Are you alright?" I ask. He coughs again, this time much worse. I could almost hear it shake his entire body, but I definitely feel it. "I am okay, chérie," he attempts, but I don't buy it for a second. "You are sick. You aren't saving me any trouble by telling me otherwise. Stop lying," I demand, and his head falls. He sheepishly looks up at me as I ask a question. "Now, how are you feeling?" "I... My throat hurts like enfer. I have a headache most of the time. I, ah... I feel as if I will... vomir," he explains, and I slump my shoulders. "Vomit?" I query, and he nods. "That is what I said," he replies. So, he no longer fights me. He allows me to care for him. I love to do so. He's my boyfriend, and I want to make sure he is feeling well. It's only slightly annoying due to him becoming excessively clingy. "Chéri!" he calls from the bedroom. He hadn't left in quite some time. I sit down the bowl I'm carrying to make my way towards him. "Yes?" I ask, standing next to him. He reaches out and holds my hand. "I want to tenir you," he whines. He pouts as I let out a heavy sigh. "I'm busy right now, babe. I'm trying to make soup," I say, and he tries to use his puppy dog face on me. "You asked me to." "Oui, but now I am asking you to rest with me," he cheekily quips, and I squint my eyes. "If you get me sick," I say lowly, lying down next to him. He wraps his arms around me and pulls me against him. After a few minutes he quickly turns and leans over the side of the bed. I try not to listen as he heaves, or I will as well. I sit up and rub his back. He slowly sits up, eyes dazed and dizzy. I reach over to grab one of the several rags and wipe his mouth off for him. "Merci," he mumbles, eyes dropping to his lap. "You're welcome," I respond, and lean over to kiss his cheek. He begins to slowly get better after a hard week for the both of us. He had pain in several ways, and I just had a pain in my ass. His nose is clear and he no longer feels nauseous. He actually goes outside instead of staying in the bedroom. Everything goes fine, until I cough.

Official PTA Dad: Alexander Hamilton
Pairing: wife!Reader x husband!Alexander Hamilton Summary: Alexander is the worst PTA dad...until he isn’t. Tags: FLUFF, DOMESTIC, comedy(?) TW: Curse words, weed  Notes: TBH...I can’t tell you why I wrote this or where it came from. My brain just farts ideas. This is also my fics fic wowee jeewillickers so no beta woot woot.
After a solid hour of convincing, and a bit of guilt tripping, you had convinced your husband to accompany you to the school’s bake sale. When you told Alexander, your husband, about it he distractedly mumbled something along the lines of, “If s’not about Phil whatev busy.”
Let’s just say you CTRL+S’d and shut down his laptop after that.
So here you were lugging around boxes of brownies you had baked yourself. Not only that, but there were multiple  flavors of brownies.
You truly felt like the next Julia Child.
I am a fucking baking beast.
Philip skipped ahead, eating one of the Reese’s Peanut Butter brownies you baked, while Alexander still remained engrossed in work.
You sighed. Beggars can’t be choosers, I guess.
“Here we are, ma! Look, I’m in Class Kindness!  Our classrooms are named after good values.” Philip pointed at the other classrooms. Respect. Responsible. Honesty. Attentive.
You couldn’t help but huff at ‘Attentive’ as you spared a glance behind you at your husband --- still typing away. Once you all entered the classroom, it was abuzz with chatter from children and parents with a disheveled-looking Hercules standing in the eye of the storm.
“Mr. Herc!” Philip called, and rushed over to his grade school teacher. Hercules perked up and noogied Philip’s already messy hair, his eyes found you and your husband.
You waved at him apologetically.
Hercules clapped his hands together, “Ah! Ok, now that we’re all here we can start.”
The chatter slowly died down as you stood at the back of the class, and Alexander opting to sit on one of the grade schooler’s miniature chairs to type. You hid your giggle behind your hand.
“In a while we’ll be having our annual bake sale to raise funds for your kids’ fieldtrip,” Hercules said, “Thanks again to each family who brought something.”
“It’s not like we had a choice.” John Addams sneered quietly, you glared at him.
“I’m sure you kiddos are excited to do your best for the fieldtrip, right?” Hercules grinned while addressing the kids. The kids nodded, the look they were giving him akin to hero worship.
Hercules huffed dramatically and cupped his ear, “I can’t hear you! Are ya’ll excited?!” The kids shrieked in delight and nodded vigorously.
You jolted when Philip yelled, “UNCLE HERC! UNCLE HERC, I’M EXCITED!!!!” He jumped up and down, frosting smeared on his lips, waving his hands to catch Hercules’ attention.
John Addams groaned next to you and made a show of covering his ears.
What a buzz kill.
Once Hercules was pleased he brought a finger to his lips, “I got it! Wow, ya’ll are pretty excited. I know I said this’ll be an ordinary bake sale but you know Mr. Herc loves surprising you guys.”
The kids gasped, now on the edge of their seats. Their eyes alight with the new possibility of a surprise.
“The bake sale will be a competition, and whoever gets the most money will get a trophy for ‘Best Family’!” With one swift motion, Hercules revealed a trophy from behind his back.
The kids lost it.
“My family is obviously gonna win!”
“My daddy is the BEST baker!”
“I want that trophy, mom!”
You glanced down when a small sticky hand clasped yours.
“Mama, we’re gotta win that trophy.”
Amused, you responded, “Why?”
“Because we’re the Best Family, duhhh!”
Your heart warmed at the sureness of the statement. You opened your mouth to respond but---
“Papa, Philip’s wrong right? We’re the Best Family.”
“That’s right, sweetie. We’re going to get that trophy because...?”
“Jeffersons never lose!”
Philip visibly bristled at the words. And so did the other kids.
“And besides, the Hamiltons aren’t really competition for us, sugar.”
Philip puffed up his chest, his small fists clenched. You decided to step in.
“And what is that supposed to mean, Mr. Jefferson?”
Thomas Jefferson gave you a bored look, “It means exactly what it means. You don’t exactly stand a chance with your handicap over there.” He then points at Alex, who then perks up at the feeling he’s being talked about.
Alex’s gaze falls on you and Jefferson, he glares and immediately stands by your side to wrap his arm around your waist.
“Jefferson. What’s your business with my wife?”
“Hamilton. Nothing, just stating facts that you are obviously not getting the prize for Best Family.”
You saw Philip clutch onto Alex’s shirt, “Dad, they’re wrong right?”
Alex smiled down at Philip, “Jefferson is always wrong, son. We’re going to win that trophy. These families don’t stand a chance!”
You noticed the other families overhearing your conversation, “Alex, maybe---”
“Real mature , Hamilton. You argue with me at work and now you’re bringing it to a kid’s bake sale.” Thomas rolled his eyes, “But of course you’re gonna be a child about it.”
Alex smirked, “You sound like you’ve given up.”
Thomas’ kid frowned up at their dad, Thomas glared at Alexander, “We haven’t given up, Hamilton. I’m just saying you’re being very immature and that you’re going to lose.”
“You two seem so sure that you’re going to win.”
You turn and see Eliza and Maria with their child.
“When we’re going to win.” Eliza shrugged, a smile on her face.
“Ha! Ya’ll don’t stand a chance against my wife’s baking!” Alex declared, pulling you closer. You blushed.
That statement was the catalyst for the most interesting bake sale you’ve ever experienced.
-----
The sun was at his highest. The wind was calm. All was quiet.
“This is ridiculous.” You muttered as your once ‘devil may care’ husband was eyeing for customers --- even encouraging Philip to steal customers from other families. And so, your only son was patrolling the area like a soldier given a strict command.
“I’m doing this for Philip, honey.” Alex muttered, waiting for any sign of human life. Preferably human life with money.
You snorted, “One, you’re doing it to beat Jefferson. Two, it’s no use no class is out ye--”
“DAD! THERE’S A JANITOR!!!”
The janitor wandered closer --- with his wallet.
Child and parent were calling the janitor with varying amounts of vigor. The janitor seemed confused but came closer anyway and looked through the baked goods.
You saw Philip hold onto the janitor’s hand, “Hey, mister! We have some really great brownies! My mom baked ‘em so y’know they’re great!”
Philip flashed his signature ‘get out of trouble’ toothy smile.
You could practically see  the moment the janitor’s resolve melted. The parental pride between you and Alexander grew.
When the janitor was about to get to your booth.
“Ack!”
Jefferson’s child was on the floor, it looked like they were about to cry. The janitor immediately went over to the distressed child.
“Are you ok?”
“N-No...”
“Aww...it’s ok, do you want to go to the nurse.”
They sniffled and wiped their tearless eyes, “N-No.”
The janitor was at a loss.
“B-But,” They looked up at him, “It would cheer me up if you bought a cookie, mister...”
The janitor smiled and helped the kid up, “Of course.”
Alex gawked when the janitor bought the cookie and left, Jefferson high-fived his ‘miraculously uninjured’ child and smirked at him.
“Looks like I got the first sale.”
Alex eyes narrowed.
----- Now that it was lunch, all the students were flocking to the bake sale and no stall was empty. You had to admit, Alex’s tactic of using Philip’s charm was working in your favor as more and more of your brownies were sold.
“That’s right! Come, kids, and buy Addams’ lemon squares!” Addams called, holding lemon squares in his bare hand.
That can’t be sanitary...
You ignored him and smiled at your husband who was taking charge of organizing the money while he appointed you as ‘the face’ of the stall.
“Of course you’ll be the face of our business.”
“And why is that?”
“With a beautiful face like yours, who wouldn’t want to come to our stall?”
You blushed at the memory and smiled at the customers as they bought more brownies.
“Le-mon squares! Fresh lemon squares! They’re delicious!” Addams yelled.
A sudden hard kiss against your cheek made you jolt, you turned and saw Alexander smirking at you.
“Looks like you’re doing a great job of charming the customers.” He pecked you on the nose, “At this rate we’ll beat them all.”
You rolled your eyes but smiled nonetheless. Alexander’s excitement for the most random things is one of the many reason why you were attracted to him.
“These are the world renowned Addams’ lemon squares! Taste ‘em while you can!”
“You only want to beat Jefferson,” He wrapped his arms around your waist from behind and you leaned against him as you organized, “And how are you so confident that we’re going to win? What if the brownies taste bad?”
Alex smirked against your cheek, “They don’t.”
You paused and raised an eyebrow at him, “You haven’t even tasted one.”
“I’ve been married to you for years, I know that you’re great in whatever you set your mind to. I don’t have to taste it to know that they’re amazing.”
You blushed, a smile slowly forming on your lips. You were so in love.
You twisted your head to look at Alex, who was glancing down at your lips, and moved to kiss him but---
“HOW CAN YOU RESIST ADDAMS’ LEMON SQU---”
“NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR DUMB LEMON SQUARES, JOHN!!!” Alex yelled as he loosened his hold on you to glare at Addams.
You burst out laughing with tears forming in your eyes, your whole body shook with mirth. Alex then turned his attention back to you and leaned in for a kiss but---
“Euw! Cooties!”
You both looked at the child with their nose scrunched up at the two of you. They put down the brownie and go to another stall.
Alex lets you go and you pout at him. He chuckles, “Sorry, honey. Cooties are bad for business.”
-----
After a while you spot Lafayette and Laurens, Laurens carrying a couple more boxes.
“The infantry has arrived!” Alex yelled and waved them over, “Here, guys!”
They come over and hand over the boxes to Alex, you eye them curiously, “What’re those?”
Laurens smiled, “Alex texted something about beating Jefferson with brownies, so I brought some from home.”
Alex wiggled his brows at you, “More ammo to defeat the velvet beast!”
“I heard that, Hamilton!” Jefferson yelled.
“You were supposed to, motherfu---”
You pinched his side and narrowed your eyes at Alex.
“...F-Futher? Motherfather?”
You smiled, content. Lafayette and Laurens snickered. You think you saw Laurens mouth the word ‘whipped’ to Lafayette which caused even more giggles.
“Thanks for the help, guys. It’ll mean a lot to Philip,” You paused, “And Alex ---mostly.”
Lafayette laughed, “No problem! I’ll even buy one.” He picked a random brownie, “How much?”
“10 dollars.” Alex answered.
“For me?”
“20 dollars.”
“Quoi??? (What???) ” Lafayette placed the brownie back down on the table.
“Nu-uh-uh, you touched it. You have to buy it now.” You tutted with a smirk on your face.
Alex grinned at you then at Lafayette, “What she said.”
“But we’re friends!”
“This is war and you’re rich. Spare some money to the cause.”
You were laughing as Lafayette groaned and reluctantly handed over the twenty to Hamilton.
“This better be good, mon ami (my friend).” Lafayette ate the brownie and moaned, “Worth it.” He said with a full mouth.
“Merci! (Thanks!)” You were giddy to hear somebody found what you made delicious.
You turned your gaze to Laurens, “I know you’re rich too.”
Laurens shook his head with a small smile on his face and coughed over a twenty, “You’re a shark, Y/N...” He popped the whole brownie in his mouth then gave two enthusiastic thumbs up.
“We’re going to go over and catch up with the others,” Lafayette said, “Goodluck!”
-----
“Mom! The faculty wants to buy from us!” Philip called excitedly, dragging along Hercules and a couple of other teachers.
You looked down to see there were no brownies left, you frowned.
“Oh, honey, we don’t have anymore brownies.”
Philip visibly deflated.
“Wait!” Alex ambled over and took out the box Laurens brought over, “You can buy the whole box for 30.”
You chewed on your lip and whispered to him, “Do you even know what’s in there?”
“...Brownies?”
“No, like, do you know where they came from? Who baked it?”
Alex pursed his lips, “I think Laurens baked in college so he probably made this.”
“Ok...” You turned your attention to the teachers who just got to your stall, “That’ll be 30 dollars please.”
-----
The bake sale was over and the parents were cleaning up as their children took naps inside the classroom.
As you were cleaning up and Alexander counting the money, you saw Hercules walking towards your stall with a dopey smile on his face. You smiled and waved at him.
At least he looks more relaxed now.
“Hey, Herc. What’s up?”
Hercules giggled, you saw Alex perk up at Hercules’ name, “Mmmm fine,” His frowned, “Um, Y/N, y’know those brownies?”
You nodded slowly, “Yes...?”
He ran an hand across his face, “Did ya...did ya bake ‘em?”
“No...” You said, Alexander stood next to you and examined his friend worriedly.
Suddenly, he burst out into giggles, “Ooohhh...ok cool. Well, um, ok. You see--"
“Hercules,” Alex touched his friend’s arm, “Are you high?”
Hercules nodded slowly, “Stoned. Very stoned. College level stoned.”
“WHAT???” You panicked remembering that the teacher’s faculty bought a whole box from you.
“Oh my god,” Alex groaned, “Who the fudge brought the pot brownies???” he paused, “LAURENS!”
“Shhh shhh shh...” Hercules pressed a finger to your lips, “It’s ok, just wanted to clarify and I need some help.”
-----
“For the record, I questioned where he got the brownies.” You said as you dropped off another teacher to their home.
Alex sighed from the backseat, “I kno---”  A hand suddenly grabbed onto Alex’s face, “Mmph!”
You glanced at the rear view mirror to see a teacher slowly splaying their arms and legs, eyes wide and red rimmed, and pushing against everyone at the back seat “Metamorphosis...transcendence.”
With a huff, Alex pushed the arm away only to be pushed by another teacher, “I’VE DISCOVERED A NEW COLOR! IT’S THE MIXTURE OF RED AND BLUE!”
Alex groaned, “That’s purple.”
There was an old teacher using Alex’s shoulder as a pillow and steadily drooling on him, you tried very hard not to laugh to not wake Philip in the front seat next to you.
The teacher, turned butterfly you think, started flapping his arms like a butterfly which smacks Alex --- right in the face.
“Ow!” Alex slapped his hands away, “You’re not a butterfly, stop it!” Then held the teacher’s arms down, “You’re in a car, this is no place to fly!”
You almost swerve from how hard you were laughing.
NO. Focus on the road.
“You know what? Fuck it.”
“Alex!” You checked to see if Philip was still asleep. He was.
Thank god.
“Even if we don’t win, I’m pretty sure we’re Best Family.” Alex said confidently.
“Is it because we got most funds?” You teased, “Or maybe it’s because we’re bringing a bunch of stoned teachers home?”
“Well, that and because of how well we all worked as one today,” You glanced at him, he was looking out the window thoughtfully, “It felt really nice to spend time with you two.”
You felt butterflies in your stomach.
Was this college again or what?
You kept one hand on the steering wheel and eyes on the road as you reached behind with your free hand.
“Alexander.”
He turned to look at you, then at your outstretched hand. You didn’t have to turn back to see his warm smile.
Alex took your hand and stroked the back of it with his thumb idly.
“I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you too.”

Secret Admirer pt 2
Part 2: You smiled as you read the note. The second one that day. You then folded it up and put it in your wallet. You had started putting all of the notes in your wallet as keepsakes. Precious, precious keepsakes. To open and reread. It was a rush knowing that someone liked you that way and reading wha they had to say…but you were also starting to like his words, his syntax, his poetry. You liked your secret admirer’s writing, and the way that he cared…not that it changed anything, you tried to convince yourself. However that didn’t really stop you from writing a note and leaving it poling out of your locker with a drawing on it that you hoped your admirer would notice. Before your last period of the day you came back, and saw the note you had left was gone, and in the place of the note were two others. One was another poem, and the other was a note written in response to yours. You smiled, and clutched them in your hands as you ran off to debate. You slid into your normal seat next to Peter Jefferson, ignoring him in your rush to read your notes. The noises around you faded to a blur, as you smiled, immersed in the world and the words of your admirer, and new friend, until you were jerked away by a tap on your shoulder. “Hey there L/N. No hi? No greeting? I’ve been trying to get your attention for the past few minutes. Am I all of a sudden a marshmallow?” You just smiled at him. “Sorry about that. I’m kind of distracted today.” You noticed him crinkling a piece of paper. “What are you distracted by?” “Don’t worry about it. It’s guy stuff.” You told him. “Like romantic stuff?” he asked. “Kind of.” You said with a smile. Something strange washed over his face. “Good afternoon class! Great job on that last debate but we can’t get complacent. Team up for an activity!” You turned to Peter, as usual. “Ooo. Yess. It’s been too long. So I’m thinking that for this one we can take the logos, pathos type of argument it worked last ti-“ “Y/N!” Peter cut you off. “I don’t want to work with you on this one. Apparently your head is too filled with romance for some random guy.” Peter said. He pushed his chair back with a loud scrape and he stalked off. You just sat there, turning the different possibilities over in your head. Was he the secret admirer and upset you weren’t getting the message? Was he jealous you had a secret admirer? Or did he just think you were weak? “Salut Y/N.” You looked up as a vaguely familiar boy took the chair beside you. He was really tall puffy hair and dark skin, and a bilingual tongue as the result of parents of different nationalities. “You probably don’t remember me. I’m George Washington Lafayette.” He said, holding out his hand. You shook it. “No I know you. You hang out with Frances a lot!” you said. He smiled. “Yeah. Frances Laurens, Charles Mulligan, Phillip Hamilton, and me. Our dads were war buddies, great friends, so we kind of grew up together.” he explained. “Anyways, want to work together? You’re the best debater in here and usually Jefferson hogs you all to himself.” You laughed. “You flatter me. And yes, I’d love to work with you.” You said. With 15 minutes left in the period, the teacher called that it was time for a debate. He pulled the names of two teams out of a hat. “Jefferson and Melindez vs L/N and Lafayette!” he called. ******************** “That was amazing!” you cried, high fiving George. He smiled. “You are excellent when you get out of that quiet shell of yours.” You said. “Just because I’m not as loud and flamboyant as Jefferson doesn’t mean I’m not good. Also, I couldn’t have done it without your help mademoiselle. How about we celebrate?” “Sure,” you said “Wonderful. Just one catch. You have to meet my friends.” He said. “I’d love to,” you smiled. You guys walked out of school to a small ice cream shop down the street. George walked over to a table with two guys. They quieted as they saw you approaching behind George. Phillip Hamilton’s cheeks flamed red. George smiled. “This is my friend Y/N. I figured that you would enjoy meeting her as much as she wanted to meet you. We just won a debate and so I said I would buy her ice cream. We kicked Jefferson’s cul. It was glorious!” Charles high fived George. Phillip just stared. He caught your eye. You smiled and waved at him. He smiled back. “I am not surprised at all. I’ve been in so many classes with her and I saw her debate tournament the other day. She’s got a sharp mind filled with knowledge.” You gasped. You could have sworn you’d heard that before…somewhere. “You know what? Anyone who can kick Jefferson’s ass is definitely someone I want to be friends with. How about I buy you your victory treat?” Phillip suggested. You smiled and walked up with him to the counter to order your favorite flavor of ice cream. Phillip paid and you guys sat down to talk. You enjoyed yourself. A lot. Phillip was really sweet and sometimes poetic in his words. After 30 minutes your phone buzzed. Phillip looked down at your phone at the same time as you did. Peter Jefferson You snatched it eagerly and looked at the screen. Phillip pulled away from you. “Sorry, I gotta go.” You said, getting up. Phillip smiled at you. Then he sighed as you retreated. “Of course you do.”

Please don’t die.” 13.“Run away with me.” 14.“You did WHAT?” 15.“Quit whining.” 16.“Get outta my sight!” 17.“Why are you so annoying?” 18.“Were you ever going to tell me?” 19.“Never in a million years.” 20.“Don’t ask me that…” 21.“I might have had a few shots.” 22.“What’s with the box?” 23.“W- What are you doing?” 24.“Say it!” 25.“I could kiss you right now!” 26.“Are you done with that?” 27.“What’s going on here?” 28.“Stop pinning this on me! You started it!” 29.“It’s your fault we’re in this mess.” 30.“Did you do this on purpose?!” 31.“Kiss me.” 32.“Are you still awake..?” 33.“Excuse you?” 34.“This is all your fault!” 35.“Don’t give me that look! It wasn’t my fault!” 36.“I shouldn’t be in love with you!” 37.“It’s not fair!” 38.“I could kill you right now!” 39.“Knock it off!” 40.“Screw you!” 41.“I can’t be in love with you!” 42.“Make me.” 43.“Don’t tempt me.” 44.“I hate you.” 45.“You are infuriating!” 46.“Just shut up already.” 47.“That doesn’t even make sense.” 48.“Just admit I’m right.” 49.“Just admit you’re wrong.” 50.“You are being ridiculous!” 51.“That’s irrational.” 52.“Listen to me!” 53.“That’s not what I meant and you know it.” 54.“Don’t yell at me.” 55.“That’s it. End of discussion.” 56.“I don’t believe you.” 57,“You shouldn’t have said that.” 58.“Shut your mouth before I shut it for you.” 59.“How dare you?” 60.“I dare you!” 61.“It’s you, it’s always been you.” 62.“Well this is awkward…” 63.“Just pretend to be my date”. 64.“Are you really gonna leave without asking me the question you’ve been dying to ask me?” 65.“You think I’m dumb enough to fall for that stupid move?” 66.“When you love someone, you just don’t stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy… even then. Especially then!” 67.“I think I’ve been holding myself back from falling in love with you all over again.” 68.“You know we’re supposed to be together. I knew it the first time I saw you, and you know it, too. I know you do.” 69.“Those things you said yesterday… Did you mean them?” 70.“I’m not going to apologize for this. Not anymore.” 71.“That’s almost exactly the opposite of what I meant.” 72.“Could I sit here? All the other tables are full.” 73.“You weren’t supposed to laugh! I’m so embarrassed!” 74.“It must be hard with your sense of direction, never being able to find your way to a decent pickup line.” 75.“This is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done.“ 76.“It’s a real shame nobody asked for your opinion.” 77.“It’s midnight, what do you want?” 78.“I think I know how to use a bed.” 79.“I have something to tell you…” 80.“I think I’m pregnant.” 81.“No, no, no, no, no, we aren’t ready… We aren’t ready for kids yet!” 82.“Your hair is so soft…” 83.“You’re so cute when you pout like that!” 84.“Just relax, I’ll wash your hair for you.” 85.“I’m not going to stop poking you until you give me some attention.” 86.“What, does that feel good?” 87.“Are you wearing my shirt?” 88.“You are ridiculously comfortable…” 89.“I’ve had a rough day and honestly all I want right now is a drink and someone to cuddle with…” 90.“You’re so cute when you’re half asleep like this…” 91.“You’re beautiful, you know that?” 92.“Aren’t they beautiful?” 93.“These stars are nothing compared to the ones I’ve seen in your eyes.” 94.“Shooting star, make a wish.” 5.“It’s actually a comet, but I’ll still make one.” 96.“Imagine if it could always be this way, even in the city.” 97.“Wow, you’re hot.” 98.“Keep sweet-talking and this could go a whole new direction.” 99.“Take off your clothes.” 100.“Tell all those other guys/girls you don’t need them ‘cause you got me.” 101.“Don’t give me that face, it’s so cute I might not be able to hold back.” 102.“After everything you did, you’re asking ME to apologize for snapping at you ONCE?” 103.“Are you drunk?” 104.“Are you hitting on her for me?” 105.“Are you kidding me? We’re not ‘fine’!” 106.“Are you okay?” “Why do you ask?” “You’re wearing two different shoes.” 107.“Are you really taking his side against me?”   108.“At what point did you think that was a good idea?” 109.“Come over here and make me.” 110.“Come with me.” 111.“Could you be happy here with me?” 112.“Can I kiss you?” 113.“Come back to bed.” 114.“Be my wife.” 115.“Before I do this, I need you to know that I have always loved you.” 116.“Damn. You clean up good.” 117.“Did I just say that out loud?” 118.“Did I stutter?” 119.“Did you enjoy yourself last night?” 120.“Did you hear that?” 121.“Do you ever think we should just stop this?” 122.“Don’t say that. Not now.” 123.“Do you think she could have loved me?” 124.“Don’t say you love me.” 125.“Don’t you ever do that again!” 126.“Either ask her out or I will do it for you!” 127.“Excuse me, I’m terribly lost. Can you help me?” 128.“Everyone deserves a second chance.” 129.“Everyone keeps telling me you’re the bad guy.” 130.“For some reason I’m attracted to you.” 131.“Frankly, I couldn’t care less.” 132.“Go on then, tell me. Tell me you don’t love me.” 133.“Go then, leave! See if I care!” 134.“H-How long have you been standing there?” 135.“Have I ever lied to you?” 136.“Have you lost your damn mind?” 137.“Hey, have you seen the…? Oh…” 138.“Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.” 139.“His ego is so visible; I can almost watch it grow.” 140.“Hold me back!” 141.“How dare you?” 142.“How could anyone be that cruel?” 143.“How long has it been?” 144.“I almost lost you!” 145.“I am not losing you again!” 146.“I came here to explain what happened, and I’m not leaving until you listen.” 147.“I can manage on my own.” 148.“I can’t… I can’t lose you.” 149.“I can’t get you out of my head.” 150.“I can’t let you do that.” 151.“I can’t start over again.” 152.“I can’t stop thinking about you.” 153.“I choose you!” 154.“I could never leave you, I love you too much!” 155.“I didn’t ask for any of this!” 156.“I didn’t realize I needed your permission.” 157.“I don’t care what he said, it doesn’t mean jack squat.” 158.“I don’t know what I did to deserve you.” 159.“I don’t know why I’m crying.” 160.“I didn’t want to hurt you.” 161.“I don’t want to let you down.” 162.“I had a nightmare about you and I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.” 163.“I had to see you again.” 164.“I hate you!”  “No, you don’t.” 165.“I just need you to do this one thing for me.” 166.“I just really need to have you here right now.” 167.“I just want this.” 168.“I just want to be alone right now.” 169.“I just wanted you to know that when I picture myself happy… It’s with you.” 170.“I know, but I love him… You can’t give up on someone you love.” 171.“I love you.”   “I know.” 172.“I love you. I’ve loved you since the moment I first laid eyes on you and – Oh, screw it!” 173.“I love you for you! Don’t you dare think otherwise!” 174.“I love you more than anything in this world… which is why you have to stay here.” 175.“I made a mistake.” 176.“I may be an idiot but I’m your idiot.” 177.“I need you to forgive me.” 178.“I never meant for anyone to get hurt.” 179.“I see the way you look at me when you think I’m not looking.” 180.“I think I’m in love with you and that scares me to death.” 181.“I think we need to talk.” 182.“I thought you were dead…” 183.“I trusted you!” 184.“I waited and waited, but you never came back!” 185.“I wasn’t planning on asking you, but I’ve come to realize that life is short. Will you marry me?” 186.“I won’t give up if you won’t.” 187.“I-I can’t trust you anymore…” 188.“I’ll be right over.” 189.“I’m flirting with you.” 190.“I’m not good enough for you.” 191.“I’m not the only one who thinks that.” 192.“I’m sick of being USELESS.” 193.“I’m so happy you’re alive!” 194.“I’m so stupid to make the mistake of falling in love with my best friend.” 195.“I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” 196.“I’m sorry, run that by me again.” 197.“I’m sorry, what were you saying? I keep getting lost in your eyes.” 198.“I’m tired of being your secret.” 199.“I’m up to the challenge.” 200.“I’m yours.” 201.“I’ve been in love with you my entire life. Ever since I met you.” 202.“I’ve moved on.” 203.“I’ve never felt this way about anyone before… and it scares the shit out of me.” 204.“If I didn’t know any better, I’d say you were trying to seduce me.” 205.“If I ever see you anywhere near her, you’ll have to deal with me!” 206.“If you die, I’m gonna kill you!” 207.“If you keep looking at me like that, we won’t make it to the bed.” 208.“If you walk out right now, it’s over for us.” 209.“Is it really you?” 210.“Is that a challenge?” 211.“Is that an apology?” 212.“Is there a problem?” 213.“Is there a special reason, as to why you’re wearing my shirt?” 214.“Is there something you want to tell me?” 215.“It could be worse.” 216.“It made a difference to me.” 217.“It was just a dream.” 218.“It wasn’t supposed to happen like that.” 219.“It’s all my fault.” 220.“It’s okay, I’m here for you.” 221.“It’s okay to cry…” 222.“Just leave me ALONE.” 223.“Just talk to me.” 224.“Kiss me.” 225.“Let me buy you a drink?” 226.“Look at me – just breathe, okay?” 227.“Look, I don’t have much time, but I wanted to say I love you.” 228.“May I have this dance?” 229.“Meet me at midnight. Alone.” 230.“Meet me on the bridge in an hour.” 231.“No one needs to know.” 232.“No one will ever hurt you again.” 233.“None of that matters now.” 234.“Oh, my God! You’re in love with her!” 235.“Please don’t cry.” 236.“Please don’t do this.” 237.“Please don’t leave…” 238.“Please listen to me…” 239.“Please say something…” 240.“Promise me you won’t let anything happen to him.” 241.“Promise me you’ll stay.” 242.“Shit, are you bleeding?” 243.“Shut up and kiss me?” 244.“Somebody’s in love!” 245.“Sorry, I thought I was alone…” 246.“Stop talking about love for a minute and help me with this bullet wound.” 247.“Tell me a secret.” 248.“That came out wrong.” 249.“That guy at the bar keeps staring at you.” 250.“The way you flirt is shameful.” 251.“There are plenty of people out there who love you.”   “Yeah, like who?”  “Like me.” 252.“There’s something I need to tell you.” 253.“Things don’t always turn out how they should.” 254.“Those things you said yesterday… Did you mean them?” 255.“Wait a minute… Are you jealous?” 256.“Wake up! Please, please wake up!” 257.“Wanna dance?” 258.“We could be amazing!” 259.“Well, don’t keep me waiting!” 260.“Well, this is awkward…” 261.“Well, this is where I live.” 262.“We finish it the same way we started… together.” 263.“What are you afraid of?” 264.“What were you thinking? Were you trying to get yourself killed?” 265.“When you love someone, you just don’t stop. Ever. Even when people roll their eyes or call you crazy… even then. Especially then!” 266.“Where did you learn to dance?” 267.“Where were you? Do you have any idea as to how worried I was?” 268.“Who gave you that black eye?” 269.“Why are you lying?” 270.“Why are you up so early?” 271.“Why can’t you see what you’re doing to me?” 272.“Why choose me?” 273.“Why don’t you just kiss me already?” 274.“You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” 275.“You deserve so much better.” 276.“You did this all for me?” 277.“You DID WHAT?” 278.“You don’t have to stay.” 279.“You don’t know you the way I do.” 280.“You don’t need to protect me.” 281.“You fainted… straight into my arms. You know, if you wanted my attention you didn’t have to go to such extremes.” 282.“You have the most amazing eyes.” 283.“You have to make a choice.” 284.“You have to remember!” 285.“You heard me. Take. It. Off.” 286.“You know, it’s okay to cry…” 287.“You lied to me!” 288.“You look beautiful!” 289.“You make me feel like I’m not good enough.” 290.“You need to leave. Right now.” 291.“You need to wake up because I can’t do this without you.” 292.“You shouldn’t have even been there!” 293.“You walked away. Not me.” 294.“You weren’t supposed to hear that…” 295.“You’ll be the death of me.” 296.“You’re not alone.” 297.“You’re safe now. I’ve got you.” 298.“You’re the only one I trust to do this.” 299.“You’re too good for me.” 300.“You’ve got to be kidding me!” 301.“Have you lost your damn mind?” 302.“Please, don’t leave.” 303.“Come over here and make me.” 304.“Wait a minute… Are you jealous?” 305.“Is there a reason you’re naked in my bed?” 306.“I almost lost you.” 307.“Wanna bet?” 308.“Teach me how to play?” 309.“Looks like we’ll be trapped for a while…” 310.“We’re in the middle of a thunderstorm and you wanna stop and feel the rain?” 311.“Just once.” 312.“I can’t believe you talked me into this.” 313.“I got you a present.” 314.“It’s not what it looks like…” 315.“Hey! I was gonna eat that!” 316.“I swear it was an accident.” 317.“Knowing you has made me a better person.” 318.“Just hold me.” 319.“I think I love you.” 320.“I’ve loved you for years.” 321.“Kiss me.” 322.“You’re the best part of me.” 323.“You keep me going.” 324.“You mean everything to me.” 325.“I couldn’t imagine what life would be like without you.” 326.“You’re perfect to me.” 327.“I don’t want to think about what I’d be like without you.” 328.“We’re best when we’re together.” 329.“I can’t stop thinking about you.” 330.“Can I hold your hand?” 331.“Do you want to stay over tonight?” 332.“You’re adorable.” 333.“Everything has been different since I fell in love with you.” 334.“I didn’t think it was possible to love a person as much as I love you.” 335.“I didn’t think love existed until I started loving you.” 336.“Let’s move in together.” 337.“Do you want me to leave?” 338.“You are not going without me.” 339.“I swear it won’t happen again.” 340.“What did you say?” 341.“I’m not jealous!” 342.“We can’t keep doing this.” 343.“Isn’t this amazing?” 344.“I’m going to take care of you, okay?” 345.“Stay the night. Please.” 346.“You can’t die. Please don’t die.” 347.“Run away with me.” 348.“Quit whining. It’s just a bullet.” 349.“Knowing you has made me a better person.” 350.“Just hold me.” 351.“I think I love you.” 352.“I’ve loved you for years.” 353.“Kiss me.” 354.“You’re the best part of me.” 355.“You keep me going.” 356.“You mean everything to me.” 357.“I couldn’t imagine what life would be like without you.“ 358."You’re perfect to me.” 359.“I don’t want to think about what I’d be like without you.” 360.“We’re best when we’re together.” 361.“I can’t stop thinking about you.” 362.“Can I hold your hand?” 363.“Do you want to stay over tonight?” 364.“You’re adorable.” 365.“Everything has been different since I fell in love with you.” 366.“I didn’t think it was possible to love a person as much as I love you.” 367.“I didn’t think love existed until I started loving you.” 368.“Let’s move in together.” 369.“Let’s strip down to our socks

“You look absolutely breathtaking.”
Thomas handed you a cool glass of champagne. To his credit, you did look stunning. It had only taken a couple hours to achieve the look, but seeing that look on his face made it all worth it.
“What can I say?” You shrugged. “I like getting dressed up for these work events.”
“Perks of the job,” Thomas mused, wrapping a hand around your waist.
Thomas’s boss, Mr. Washington, stood up to give a short, sweet speech, and then announced the dance floor was open. A string quartet the company had hired struck up a jazzy tune, and taking Thomas’s hand, you led him out onto the dance floor.
It was almost like your hips had been sculpted for Thomas’s hands because they fit there so perfectly. You slipped your hands around his shoulders, and together you danced around the room.
“These are my favorite moments, you know.” Your lips were pressed up against his ear.
“Are they, now?”
You nodded. “When I’m in your arms. And it’s only me. No distractions. Your eyes are only on me.”
His lips were tugged into a smile. You could feel it against your skin.
“Darling, believe me, you’ve got everyones’ eyes on you.”
“That’s sweet. But I’ve only ever wanted yours.”
The song came to an end. Regretfully, Thomas pulled away. But they didn’t leave the dance floor immediately. For a second, he just wanted to admire the woman standing in front of him.
“What is it?” You questioned.
He just shook his head and smiled. Then he pulled your hand up to his lips and pressed a gentle kiss to your knuckles. Your diamond engagement ring sparkled under the light of the chandeliers.
The elevator music was catchy. You found yourself tapping your foot to the beat as it climbed past the 17th floor. A ding! signaled that you had reached your location, and you happily stepped off.
You knew exactly where you were going, as you had walked this path many times when you and Thomas had first started dating. It had been a while since you visited him at his office, but today you had decided to surprise your fiancé with lunch.
“Sally, is Thomas in?” You asked his receptionist.
She nodded. “Yes, ma’am. I don’t have you down on his calendar, but I’m sure he can make time for you. Go on in.”
“Thank you, Sally.”
Quietly opening the door to his office, you found that Thomas was sitting in his chair, facing the New York skyline with a phone pressed to his ear.
“The merger is going to go through perfectly, Marshall,” he said into the phone. He paused for a moment to let the man on the other end of the line respond. “Yes, I’m 100% confident.”
You made his way to his side and lightly tapped on his shoulder. He glanced up with a surprised look on his face. Seeing it was you, he pointed the phone in his hand and held up one finger.
“Uh huh. Marshall, can I call you back? Yeah, something else just came up.”
Thomas said his goodbye to the man on the phone, then hung up. He turned to look at you with a confused stare.
“What are you doing here, darling?”
“I just thought I would stop by and have lunch with you. Is now not a good time?” You asked cautiously.
He gave you a sympathetic look. “I just wish you had called an hour ago. I’m a bit swamped right now.”
“Oh, I see-”
His phone lit up and began buzzing on the table with another call.
“I’m sorry, darling, but I need to take this. I’ll see you tonight?” He didn’t wait for a reply before he picked up the phone again.
“See you tonight.” You repeated.
“So I was thinking we could stay in tonight? Maybe watch something-”
You froze when you saw Thomas walk out of the bedroom wearing his tuxedo with that signature magenta bowtie.
“-unless you’re going somewhere.” Your heart sunk.
“I have that gala to be at, remember? And I’m sure you don’t want to have to sit through it with me.” He stood in front of the mirror by the door to make a few last-minute adjustments to his outfit.
Words were caught in your throat. The of-course-I-want-to-be-at-that-gala-as-long-as-you’re-there kind of words. But they were caught. They never made it past your lips. At some point you had started crying. You don’t know when, but you quickly wiped at the tears on your cheeks.
It was insensible to be crying over a trivial matter like this, right? It was only one night. You would see him tomorrow. And besides, he was doing something that made him happy. Didn’t he deserve that?
“Damn, I look good.” Thomas said to his reflection. “Tell me I look handsome.”
Forcing a smile onto your face, you said, “you look handsome.”
The bags were packed before he had come home. It was already late evening and he hadn’t even noticed. He sat in the kitchen working on his computer. He had spent the whole day working on his computer, and it was no different when he came back home.
Some part of you had hoped that tonight would be different. That tonight Thomas would come home and sweep you off your feet, taking you to that French restaurant that he knew you loved. Or did he even know that anymore?
You would’ve settled for a night in. Just one night in pajamas with macaroni that came out of a box. That would have been enough to make you stay at this point. It was growing later, and you were still looking for some reason to stay.
“The settlement offer was huge. God, I was fantastic in there today. Really, just phenomenal.” You weren’t sure whether he was talking to himself or you.
“Thomas.”
“And Washington said if I keep working like this, I’d be looking at my name on the wall next to his in no time.”
“Thomas,” you repeated, more desperately.
“Can you imagine it?” He laughed. “My name on the wall!”
“Thomas, I’m leaving.”
He paused for a moment, but didn’t look up from his computer.
“It’s past 10, don’t you think it’s a little too late to be going out?” He went back to typing.
“That’s not what I meant.” You slipped the engagement ring off your finger and placed it on the counter in front of him. “Thomas, I’m leaving.”
Finally, he looked at you. “Darling...”
And, oh. How good did it feel when he called you darling again? It almost made those lonely nights worth it. Almost.
“I can’t do this anymore. You break my heart every night. And I let you.” You shook your head in disappointment, although for who, you weren’t quite sure. “I never see you anymore.”
“You know I’ve been busy lately at work...”
“But when won’t you be busy?”
He was silent.
“I love you, Thomas. I always will.”
You leaned forward and pressed a tender kiss to his cheek.
“Goodbye.”
Taking your bags, you walked out the door. The very same door that Thomas had first declared his love for you in front of. The very same door you walked through every day to the place that you had learned to call home.
“Goodbye,” he echoed.

Requests Open
I take requests on making Hamiltonxreader stuff and it can be anything you’d like angst, fluff even smut, whatever you’ d like and I’ll do it. I can do characterxcharacter too.

Note
I totally agree with you. I used to write x readers when they were the most popular thing, but the character is completely disregarded in favor of what the author wants in a partner. You could change the name and it'd be exactly the same. There's usually little creativity in the writing, and I get wanting to insert yourself into your favorite stories but... shipping a character or a PERSON with yourself is kinda gross.
So true. Gross is the best way to describe it. I know for a fact there once existed a Phillip HamiltonxReader fic that featured olive oil used as lube.

... What Does That Even Mean?
Lafayette x Reader Word Count: 1597 Warning: Some seriously embarrassing google translated French (:/) “Lafayette,” you called to your incredibly slow boyfriend, “Hurry up, we’re going to be late!” “J’arrive j’arrive j’arrive,” Laf grumbled as he hurried down the stairs, with only one of his socks on. You rolled your eyes, “You know I don’t know what that means,” you sighed, tossing him his boots and opening the front door, impatiently. “Now come on, this is the second time in a row we’re going to be late." Lafayette quickly slipped on his boots and grabbed your hand, “Okay okay,” he sighed, smirking, “Let’s go, then,” he smiled, placing a gentle kiss on your temple before pulling you out the door, “I was just trying to look good for you,” he teased, smirking. You rolled your eyes and sighed, “You always look good, Laf,” you grumbled, starting up the car, turning on the heat right away. “Thanks,” he smirked, intertwining his fingers with yours and lifting your hand to his lips, giving you a soft kiss as you drove to Alexanders house. At Alexander’s house, he, Eliza, Angelica, Peggy, Hercules, and John were all already there, waiting for you and Lafayette. “Sorry,” you smiled bashfully once Alex opened his door, “It was Lafayette again.” “Mon cherie!” Lafayette examined as he slipped off his jacket, “That was not necessary to say.” You hugged Alexander, who was chuckling, in greeting before going off to find the Schuyler’s in the living room, “I’m throwing you under the bus, Lafayette!” “I hate it when you do that!” Lafayette called, following you and Alexander into the front room. “Can you believe her?” He asked Alex quietly, pointing at you with his thumb. Alex laughed, shaking his head, “How did you get so lucky?” He asked rhetorically, sitting down beside Eliza, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. Lafayette sat down beside you, begrudgingly, “If you think I am going to cuddle you, ma petite sucrerie, you are mistaken,” he said, looking at you seriously. You rolled your eyes as Angelica began to snicker from the other side of you; “What does that even mean,” you asked, looking up at your boyfriend who was sitting with his arms crossed, “Most beautiful girl in the entire world? Cutest girlfriend in the history of forever?” Lafayette rolled his eyes and Angelica wrapped her arm around your shoulders, “Don’t worry,” she said giggling as she pulled you into her shoulder, “I will cuddle you, Y/N,” she said as she ran her hand up and down your shoulder. You rested against her, grinning, “Thanks, ‘Gelica,” you sighed, looking up to Lafayette; he had his eyes trained on the TV that had yet to begin playing the movie. You lifted your legs and rested them over your boyfriends lap - your boyfriend who was refusing to look at you. You tapped your foot on his leg, and when he continued to stare at the TV, you sat up, leaving Angelica’s side. Grabbing Lafayette’s hand, you uncrossed his arms and held his hand to your cheek, resting your face against him. “Stop it,” you grumbled, playing with his fingers. “I am not doing anything,” he replied, still not looking at you. You sighed gently and instead of holding your cheek, you moved his hand so his arm was wrapped around your shoulders, “You’re being grumpy.” “Vous êtes désagréable,” he mumbled, pulling you against his side and kissing your temple before letting his head rest against your own. You huffed, “Say it in english,” you groaned, poking your boyfriend in the side. Lafayette grabbed your hand, holding it firmly in order to stop the poking, “Non,” he grumbled, “You will not like it.” You rolled your eyes, but the movie was beginning, so you let it slide. Throughout the movie, you and Lafayette didn’t really cuddle; he kept his arm around you, but you didn’t sink into him, like usual. You really had to learn some french, one of these days. By the time the movie was over, you had already texted Alexander to help you out. So, the next day while Lafayette was out, you headed over to Alexander’s house, once again. “Hi,” you smiled as he opened the door for you. “Hi,” Alexander replied grinning as he welcomed you inside; you slipped off your jacket and shoes before he lead you into the living room. You sat on the couch, Alexander sitting down right beside you, “Thanks for helping me,” you sighed, “I know it’s kinda sudden.” Alexander scoffed, “Don’t be sorry,” he said, beaming, “I love this type of stuff. What kind of things did you want to learn?” He asked, cocking his head to the side, looking at you, expectantly. You shrugged your shoulder, unassertively, “I don’t know,” you admitted, “He calls me a lot of names; I think they’re pet names, but it’s kinda hard to tell with him,” you confessed. Alexander chuckled nodding his head, “What does he say?” He asked, smirking. You began fiddling with your fingers; you had heard these words tons of times since dating Lafayette, but you’ve never said any of them. “Um,” you began, “He calls me a petite sucrerie,” you said, every foreign word dripping with skepticism and hesitation. Alexander laughed at your uncertainty, “Petite sucrerie,” he said confidently, “Little candy,” he chuckled. “Petite sucrerie,” you repeated, more confidently this time, “Little candy… That one is kind of cute,” you commented, cocking your head. “Okay; and he also calls me odieux,” you continued, regaining your insecurity as you spoke. Alexander flung his head back laughing, “This one’s not cute,” he laughed, “Odieux,” he said easily, “Obnoxious.” You couldn’t help but chuckle, “He calls me that when we’re arguing,” you explained, laughing, “Odieux?” You said, trying to mimic Alexander’s pronunciation. Alexander smirked as he nodded his head, “Good job.” “Thank you,” you grinned. For the next hour, you and Alexander practiced the names and began learning common phrases that you could say; it was just as hard as you knew that it would be. But Alexander was being really patient and calm with you. It wasn’t until half an hour later, when you got a text from Laf asking where you were, that you decided it was best to head home. “Well,” Alexander sighed as he opened his door for you, “It’s been a pleasure, petite étoile,” he grinned. You smiled brightly, “Little star,” you said proudly; that’s what Laf called you the first night you had stayed over with him. Alexander nodded his head, pleased, “I am so proud,” he beamed, over-dramatically. You played along, taking a dramatic bow, “Thank you, thank you,” you giggled, “But really,” you continued, more seriously this time, “Thank you.” Alexander laughed, “No problem,” Alex grinned, “I’ll see you tomorrow?” You nodded you head, “You betcha,” you grinned, waving to him as you went back to your car. Once you got to Lafayette’s house, he greeted you with a kiss, “Hello mon chéri,” he said, moving his lips from yours to your forehead. You smiled brightly up at him, “I know what means,” you grinned proudly. Laf quirked an eyebrow, “… What does it mean?” He asked, dubiously. You grinned, “Darling,” you said, shifting your weight from your heels to your toes, just to have something to do. The corner of Laf’s mouth turned up as he grabbed your hands, pulling you against him, “And who told you that?” He asked, looking down at you expectantly. “Alexander,” you beamed. “Alexander?” Lafayette questioned, quirking his head. “Alexander,” you confirmed, nodding your head. Lafayette furrowed his brows, “You asked Alexander to teach you french?” He asked, “Mon ange, I am from France, I know more than he does.” You shrugged your shoulders, “I know,” you said, holding his hands and swinging them back and forth, “But I also know that when we’re arguing you like to speak french so I can’t understand you and argue with you some more, and I thought you might not want to tell me what you say in those situations. But Alexander would, so I asked him. But I also wanted to surprise you. I know ten words,” you grinned, “Not counting oui, because everybody knows oui.” Lafayette let go of your hands, instead he held onto your waist, “Mon cheri,” he said, softly, “I would have told you… I know way more than ten words, I could teach you all of them,” he said, his brows furrowed. You rested your hands on his chest, “I know…” you sighed, smiling, “I just thought it would be a nice surprise, is all.” “Oh,” Laf said, playing with the hem of your t-shirt, avoiding eye contact with you. You grabbed his hands and held them, “What?” You asked, gently swinging your arms together. Lafayette shook his head, “Nothing,” he said, “It’s nothing.” “Well, I mean,” you sighed, “It kind of seems like something,” you said, raising your eyebrows. “What’s the matter? I thought you’d like it.” “I do,” Laf said quickly, “I do like it… Maybe I can teach you next time? And not Alexander?” Oh; that’s what this is about. You bit your bottom lip gently and nodded your head, “Okay,” you agreed as he began leading you upstairs. “I know a lot of french,” he stated, “I’m really good at it.” You nodded your head, holding back your chuckles, “You are very good at speaking french,” you agreed as he opened his bedroom door. He took a seat on his bed and you followed him, cuddling into his side, “So,” he sighed, “Do you want to tell me your ten words, ma petite sucrerie?” “Oui.”

Secret Admirer pt 1
Secret Admirer Prompt: secret admirer Summary: This involves the next generation. Y/N gets a love note and she’s not quite sure it’s form who she hoped for. The excitement of victory rushing through you was suddenly cut through with something else as the heart covered piece of paper fell from your locker. You picked it up and peered at it curiously. You jumped as you felt someone leaning on your back. “Hey y/n! You did amaaazing in th- what’s that?” You turned around, as you hastily tried to hide the paper from your friend, Frances Laurens. “It’s nothing,” you said, feeling your face turn red. “Were those hearts? Is that a love letter? Oooo did Pet-” Frances cried excitedly. “No it isn’t. Well..maybe? I don’t know.” You said. “Well open it and see!” she urged. You took a deep breath and then slowly opened the note and read it. It was a love poem! It was so sweet and sensitive. You heart fluttered as you thought of him, he had finally noticed! You felt the euphoria return. Peter Jefferson had finally noticed that you guys would be perfect together. Then you looked at the bottom. It was signed by a secret admirer. You felt your heart deflate. And the euphoria ebbed away replaced by disappointment and confusion. You looked up at Frances. “It’s anonymous. It says it was left by a secret admirer.” You told her. She cocked her head to the side perplexed. “Secret admirer? Not Peter? I mean it could be Peter…” Frances said doubtfully. “That isn’t his style. He’s so confident and flamboyant.” You said with a sigh, folding the note back up. “Don’t be sad. This is still wonderful! You’ve got a secret admirer! Someone admires you!” Frances said. You closed your locker and turned to see Peter Jefferson strutting down the hall flirting with a pretty blonde girl, bragging about his victory, your victory, the victory you guys had won together. “It’s not the someone I want.” You sighed. Across the hallway Charles Mulligan clenched his fists as he observed the interactions. Peter Jefferson?! This was certainly not what they were hoping for. And Peter Jefferson of all people? He sighed He had delivered the note and had agreed to report back but he almost didn’t want to. Could he really bring himself to do this? Peter never seemed to notice you as more than a friend or a teammate. He would b enthralled by you when you were working together. He even seemed to fear you at times. He loved working together, and claimed he loved smart women, but the only ones he ever seemed interested in were well….not. Sharp mind filled with knowledge lies behind the stars in your eyes You smiled to yourself remembering the line from the poem, and caressed the paper. Maybe there were guys who liked smart women. You smiled to yourself, and for the first time indulged in a little bit of curiosity about your admirer, and as you felt the tiniest flutter of your opening heart, you realized you might also indulge yourself to possibilities.

Comfort
Request:  Can you do some Lin fluff where one of you is sad and stuff (for some reason you can make up) on a show day, and the other tries to cheer them up? Your writing is so good btw, thank you for doing this:)
Words: 988
Pairing: Lin x Reader
Warnings: mentions of depression, Lin being too cute for his own good
You knew it wouldn’t be a good day from the moment you woke up. It was as if there was a pressure on your chest and you knew what it was immediately. Depression. It was something you had always struggled with, it was just a part of who you were at this point, but things had been so good for you lately, you had been so happy that you forgot.
But the dark cloud had finally caught up with you.
“Buenos dias mi amor.” Lin whispered groggily, tightening his grip around your waist and nuzzling his face against the back of you neck.
“Good morning.” You replied, turning you head to look at your boyfriend. He smiled at you tiredly and you gently press your lips to his. There was no reason for you to be sad, to feel this way, you knew that.
There you were, in bed with a man who you loved, about to get ready for a day of performing in one of the most successful Broadway plays. Life couldn’t be better for you.
“Is something wrong (Y/N)?” He asked, concern lacing his features as you broke apart and he saw the forlorn expression on your face.
“Just tired mi amor.” You forced a smile on your face, but you weren’t fooling Lin, he was too attuned to your emotions. Before he could say anything else you placed a kiss on his nose and slipped out of bed. “Come on, it’s a two show day, it’s gonna be a long one.”
The weight on your chest reminding you you’re day would be longer for a different reason.
...
The whole ride to the theatre Lin was cracking the lamest jokes, trying his hardest to make you smile. However, all you could give him was a fake smile, and he saw right through that. You just wanted the day to be over with, you wanted to curl up in bed next to Lin and sleep. It was the only remedy that would work.
“Lin I appreciate what you’re trying to do, really I do, and I love you so much but I’ll be fine.” You looked up and your heart broke at the distressed look on his face. You’re hurting him, the little voice in your head whispered and your heart ached.
It was a familiar little voice, it was your voice. It was your constant growing up, constantly making you second guess yourself, telling you that you’d never be good enough, making you doubt every choice you made. You learned to block it out, you knew it was wrong, but on top of how low you were feeling you didn’t have the energy.
“You can talk to me (Y/N), you know that right?” Lin asked, making your guilt worsen. Of course you knew that, but there wasn’t anything for you to talk about, you were happy. Depression didn’t need a reason to grab hold of you, it just did. You couldn’t properly articulate it.
“Of course I do Lin, and if something was wrong I would tell you.” He still looked doubtful, and a little hurt at what he saw as you not trusting him, but he placed a loving kiss on the top of your head.
“Okay.”
...
You talked and joked around with everyone like normal and no one could tell anything was amiss. Not surprising considering you had years of experience of hiding how you were really feeling. Lin’s eyes followed you the whole day. In the rare moments when you both weren’t on stage he’d wrap his arms around you, hold your hand, place kisses against your face, anything he could do to remind you how much he loved you.
It just made you feel worse.
He didn’t deserve this, to be worried about you when there wasn’t even anything wrong. You had told him about your depression before, but he’d never actually seen it this bad.
By the time the first show was over and you had time for a break, your head was such a mess of tangled thoughts you just wanted to scream. It was like a bunch of wires all tangled together and you could barely think.
“(Y/N)?” Lin asked tentatively, finding you tucked away in a dark corner of the Richard Rodgers theatre, sitting quietly by yourself. He was still in his final costume and you felt bad, knowing he had probably been searching for you this whole time.
“I’m fine Lin.” Was your instant reply, wrapping your arms around your knees and tucking yourself into a ball.
“No.” He said firmly. “You’re not.”
“Just, go hang out with everyone else, I’ll be fine.”
Instead of listening to you, he did the opposite and plopped down next to you.
“Maybe you will be fine if I just walk away, but I love you (Y/N), and I’m not walking away. Ever. You’re stuck with me, sorry not sorry.” Tears pricked the back of your eyes at his words. He was too damn good to you.
“There really is no problem Lin, I couldn’t be happier. I just get sad sometimes, today is one of those sometimes.” You confessed, putting your forehead on your knees as you felt the tears begin to leak out.
“Okay, then I’ll sit here with you and remind you how loved you are until the next show, and once we get home I’m gonna wrap you in a warm blanket, fix you some hot chocolate, and cuddle you while we watch Disney movies, okay?” You couldn’t help the laugh that escaped and you looked up at Lin, seeing a bright smile on his face. “Finally, there’s a real smile.”
“I love you Lin.” He wrapped his arms around you, tucking you into his side.
“I love you too (Y/N).”
You were going to have bad days, but as long as Lin was there, you didn’t think they’d be all that bad anymore.
A/N: I needed some fluff to cleanse myself of the sin. Hope you enjoyed, send in requests!

Chihuahua
Pairing: Alexander Hamilton X Reader
Time: Modern - College AU
Warnings: Cursing, pranks
almost fight lmao
- To say you were angry was an understatement. You were utterly pissed with your roomate, Asher. She had put a very dark purple hair dye into your conditioner, leaving your hair [depending on your hair color, either dark purple or tinted purple]. You put on a black hoodie so the color wouldn’t transfer onto a lighter shirt and threw your dripping wet hair into a bun, then slapped on jeans and converse and stomped out the door. You had walked around campus for about ten minutes before finally seeing who you thought was Asher. They had the same dark brown shoulder length hair, and were short. Strange, she was talking to a group of boys. Nonetheless, you stomped up behind her and pushed her as hard as you could. Because she was knocked off guard, she almost fell down, but stumbled and managed to stay balanced. “You asshole!” You hissed angrily. “Ooooh!” The boys exclaimed. But when she turned around, you realized your mistake. That was no she. It wasn’t Asher you had pushed, but Alexander Hamilton. One of the smartest and feistiest kids in the college. He had a livid look on his face as he stalked up to you, getting dangerously close. Your noses were almost touching. “Have you got a problem?” He spat. You frowned at the angry tone of his voice and noticed his friends looked like they wanted to say something. They didn’t. What asshats. “I’m sorry, Hamilton. I thought you were my roomate,” you said as bravely as you could manage when you practically had an angry chihuahua in your face. An angry chihuahua that could probably tear you to pieces in a fight, you reminded yourself. He laughed stiffly, not backing out of your face. “What did your roomate do to deserve that treatment, huh?” You were quickly losing your patience with this small fire ball. Truly, he wasn’t as hot as he presumed himself to be. Maybe in looks. Not your point. “Well I think it’s obvious if you had a brain and attention to detail to actually look.” You hissed. He took a step forward, forcing you back. “You wanna go, [last name]?” He snarled. My god, his breath stinks. His dark circles are huge, he doesn’t look like he’s slept for days. He’s kinda cute though, his hair loose around his- “Maybe I do.” You took a step forward, forcing him back. He seemed surprised by your anger. At this point, even Jefferson would have backed off. He took a step back. “Ugh, whatever.” He said, rolling his eyes. You stood there in shock for a second, taking in the look on his face. You noticed a bit of red blush creeping onto his cheeks and felt yours began to heat up too. You realized in that moment how stupid you’d been. The boys were walking away now. You debated whether to..oh, fuck it. “Hey Hamilton!” You yelled. He spun on his heel, his cheeks growing in color. You nearly giggled as you made a phone with your hand and put it to your ear, mouthing ‘Call me’. You swore his blush was like a fire truck as he nodded. Now, time to go find Asher..
