Hamahisakaki

Eurya emarginata is a dioecious evergreen short tree, native to seashores of East Asia. Pale flowers bloom November to December at the same time black fruits grow on the previous year's branches. Hardy hedge choice for Japanese houses, it is called hamahisakaki meaning 'sea princess sakaki plant' although it is not related to the Shinto-sacred sakaki plant, Cleyera japonica.
