The Great Impersonator is one of the best albums I think I have ever listened to.. the vulnerability in each song is unseen in most artist these days, it's refreshing and overwhelming at the same time.

This is a parasocial and presumptive take, but:

"I'm the spider in your kitchen, weaving webs through every year. And I worked real hard on the last one, but the last one got me here."

In terms of what the webs represent, it could be a couple things - Halsey's attempts to make a cozy, domestic home, for example.

But I think of IICHLIWP when I hear that line, especially in reference to how Halsey dedicated that album and the film to Alev. They worked their ass off on that record, and the whole thing is littered with references to him. The film ends with "To Alev, and our greatest era." (It ended up being their only era.)

To put all that work, love, and dedication into something, only to have the relationship that inspired so much of that labor fall apart into something ugly and toxic... ("have you ever given the world to somebody as a gift and had it returned?")

so I interpret that as their regret at dedicating such a great work of art to someone who didn't appreciate it.

in reverse it says "--turned to you worse than when you [unintelligible]"

together it says: "Have you ever given the world to somebody as a gift and had it returned to you worse than when you--"

I'm still trying to figure out if there are more words in the other phrases, the only other thing I've heard sounds like "like acid," but idk exactly for sure. I'll post if I figure anything else out
