Cooling Down

Carmen had been waiting for Ejij, her computer set up in the family room that overlooked the deck near the driveway.  It was getting late though. Even late by investigation standards.

He’s never been gone till three.

Carmen fidgeted with her necklace, glancing down at the driveway again. This wasn’t like her husband. Especially when he had papers to grade in the morning.

“Please, be okay…”

I know this one had some bad memories for us… but they’d text me if something was wrong… Right?

Her hands went from her necklace to wrapping her arms around her midsection.

Bright lights rushed past her head, her hand gripping tightly at her husband’s hand as he tried to keep up with the medical staff.

“Don’t worry, I promise I’m gonna be right there. I’m right here.” 

“Eiji…”

He gave her a reassuring look, trying to hide the fear in his eyes.

“I love you.”

He’s always trying to take care of people. Even put up with having to be by my head during my c-section… 

I just want to be there for him too.

It wasn’t long after that the van pulled up. She watched as Eiji bid the team goodbye before heading up the deck.

She didn’t even give him a chance to open the door as she flung it open for him. His tired eyes met hers as he stepped inside the house.

“Hey…” He whispered.

“Hey…” Carmen frowned, cupping his cheek. “You okay?”

Eiji shook his head, bringing his arms around her.

“I don’t wanna talk about it.” He whispered, keeping her close. He was just relieved to be home, away from all that nonsense.

It had been a hard night.

Carmen stroked his back, concerned at how exhausted he really was. 

“Let’s go upstairs. Get you into bed.”

“Okay…” Eiji followed her upstairs, keeping quiet as they walked down the hall. He peered into Ken’s room, seeing the boy was fast asleep, huddled close to Okami. 

Safe and sound.

He peered into Hikaru’s room, finding the teen halfway off his bed but soundly asleep from the way he was breathing.

“That can't be comfy.” He remarked as Carmen peered in after, giggling a bit.

“Oh, Hika…”

“I got him.” Eiji went in, lifting him back into his bed. Hikaru churred a little in his sleep, nuzzling into his pillow.

Eiji smiled softly, stroking his hair.

“Dream on.” He tucked him, back in, before going back to Carmen. She had a warm look in her eyes, cupping his cheeks.

“You’re such a dad.” She whispered, kissing him quickly.

He smiled sheepishly, kissing her forehead.

“I can’t help it… Is Hideki…?”

“Already checked on him. All curled up in a ball and asleep.”

Eiji nodded, touching his forehead to hers.

“Sorry.”

“Stop being so silly. You’re worried about them.”

“Not that… Sorry… I didn’t listen to you.” 

Carmen frowned, pulling him into their bedroom, closing the door.

“Why? Because you wanted to help someone with an object they didn’t know was haunted?” 

Eiji shook his head, changing into his night clothes before nearly collapsing into the bed. 

“No… because it turns out, she made it haunted herself. Carmen, she was using a spirit board and knowingly didn’t close the portal.”

Carmen froze up before getting into bed with him.

“Eiji… That’s horrible!” She looked him over. “Are you alright? Did anything-”

“Only Skyler got attacked. We cleansed the house, closed it up… and dealt with an old foe..” Eiji closed his eyes tightly, curling up next to her. “I said I didn’t wanna talk about it but… It keeps haunting me.”

Carmen laid beside him, resting a hand on his side.

“Eiji, you can tell me anything.”

Eiji buried his face into her hair, his shoulders shaking. He had been fine leaving the house… but after, it took everything to hold it together until he got home. 

He thought it didn’t hurt him anymore. After twenty years, he thought he was an expert at keeping things to himself about it.

“Carmen… I…” He shook his head, eyes stinging. 

“Shh….” She stroked his side a little, kissing his forehead. “You’re okay. It’s okay mi amor. You don’t have to.”

“It was the spirit that attacked me when I was a kid. The idiot who hired us managed to summon THAT ghost.” 

Carmen’s eyes widened in alarm, before hugging her husband tightly.

“Oh, oh, oh Eiji…”

Eiji closed his eyes tightly, biting his lip, tears running down his face, trying to fight down the memories.

“What’d I do that was so bad? I was just a kid…”

“Shh…” She kissed his head again. “Shhh… You didn’t do anything wrong.”

“I just wanted to protect my sister.” He whispered. “I just… wanted to be a good big brother.” 

“And she lived.”

Eiji nodded, keeping close to her. He was exhausted, his mind was going at a thousand thoughts a minute.

“Shhh…”

He looked to her with a pained look.

“I’m sorry.”

“Stop.” She touched her forehead to his, keeping eye contact with him. “Deep breath.”

He took a shaky one.

“Exhale.”

He released it, his body slumping a little. Sleep was creeping up on him. The whispered reassurances from his wife, the warmth of their blanket as she pulled it up over them…

Her very presence by his side.

“I love you…” He whispered, before his eyes slid shut.

What would I do without you?

The next day, there was something definitely off in the household. Namely, when the boys hurried downstairs, Okami in tow.

“Hey, where’s Dad?” Hikaru looked around. “He’s always up right about now.”

“Or if he wasn’t, he’d be waking up as soon as Okami started making a racket.” Hideki added.

Carmen yawned, gaining their attention, to where she was at the stove. 

“You’re dad, had a really rough night last night guys. He really needs his sleep right now.” She explained, keeping her voice low. “So, we’re just letting him sleep in since it’s still the weekend.”

“Okay… Can I help with breakfast?”

“Sure can, Deki.” 

Hikaru and Ken glanced back upstairs, exchanging a worried look.

“He’s okay… right?”

“Just tired.” Carmen gave them a reassuring look, motioning for them to come away from the stairs. “We’ll get him up later.”

“Alright.” Hikaru lifted up Ken before the smaller boy could make it back up the stairs.

“EEP! Hey, Hikaaaa!”

Hikaru let him hang off his shoulders by his ankles, eliciting a stream of giggles as Ken tried futility to get free.

“Nooope! C’mon, let’s see that parkour mastery of yours get you out.”

Ken grinned, mischief in his eyes.

“Okami, halp!” 

Hikaru was standing one moment, the next, all he saw was a bullet made of dark fluff running right at him.

“Oh, fri-”

THUD!

“OOF!”

Hikaru groaned, squirming out from under the massive dog, giving Ken a sour look. The little boy was happily cuddled up to her, getting nuzzled.

“I hate you.” He said, letting his head hit the floor again.

“I love you too!” Ken chirped.

Carmen cleared her throat, giving the boys a warning look.

“Take it outside.”

Hikaru held up his hands in an “I’m unarmed” position before getting up.

“Hey, I was just trying to keep him from waking up Dad.”

Ken pouted.

“I wasn’t gonna wake him up.”

“Maybe not but she-” Hikaru gestured to Okami. “Can easily wake anyone up by just jumping on the dang bed.”

Ken huffed before getting up.

“I’m goin outside. Call me when breakfast is done! C’mon Okami!”

Okami perked up, hurrying out the backdoor with him.

“Mom, you want me to…?”

“He’s fine.” Carmen looked out the kitchen window. “He knows not to go for a long walk before breakfast - and Okami’s with him. She’s fierce when she has to.”

“Duly noted… I’m gonna go tinker for a bit then.” 

And keep an ear out for Dad.

Dunno if he has issues with nightmares too but seems we all get them.

Hikaru quietly made his way back upstairs to his room to grab his toolkit. The hallway was quiet, the only sounds coming from downstairs.

He was quick, grabbing up his latest project and tools, heading out of his room… letting out a sharp gasp, stumbling back as Eiji let out a sharp gasp of his own, eyes going wide.

“Oh Poseidon…” Hikaru muttered, putting a hand over his heart. 

“Vitalis Above…” Eiji gasped, trying to slow his heartrate. “You scared the crud outta me.”

“You are so one to talk.” Hikaru replied, raising an eyebrow. “I thought you were sleeping.” He remarked, noting how Eiji was dressed.

He was wearing a grey T-shirt with light blue jeans, foregoing his hoodie for now.

“I…” Eiji grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck. “I couldn't get back to sleep. I thought it was time to get up and I was gonna go outside. Maybe go for a run through the property.”

“Oh.” Hikaru leaned against his doorway. “Kenny’s already outside. He’ll love that.”

“You wanna come with?”

“Hm… Maybe. Maybe after food.”

Eiji’s stomach growled as his face turned red.

“Maybe food’s a good idea.” He chuckled. “Sleep well?”

“Yup. Had a nice dream too for once.”

Eiji was relieved to hear that. Hikaru's nightmares were still present but slowly fading. Enough that his therapist didn’t think he needed dream therapy after all.

“That’s wonderful.”

Good. That’s progress. Really great progress. 

He still was a bit out of it, the remnants from the night before trying to come through. He was trying to get his mind off of it though since trying to sleep only brought up hazy dreams about haunted dolls and spirit boards.

Eiji headed downstairs, motioning for Hideki to keep quiet, coming up behind Carmen. 

He wrapped his arms around her, kissing the back of her head.

“Morning.”

“Hey…” She gave him a gentle look. “Welcome back sleepy head.”

“Good to be back. Coffee?”

“Already brewed.” 

Eiji hugged her tighter before going to make himself a cup. 

“So, what are you gonna do after breakfast eh?”

“Go for a run, maybe take the kids, unless you don’t want the house to yourself.” He grinned, before glancing to Hideki. “You wanna go out with me and your brothers later?”

“Maybe. I was gonna call someone…” He murmured, his cheeks going a bit pink.

“Oh?” 

“Just a… really good friend.”

Hikaru walked by him, clapping him on the shoulder.

“Her name is Tomino.” He grinned, earning a hard elbow to his stomach. “OOF! Worth it….”

“Get outta my kitchen!” 

Eiji had to think for a moment before the name registered. She was one of his students and if he recalled right…

She’s also in the music club and trying to start some kind of band. Least that’s what hallway chatter’s led me to believe.

“So… It’s THAT Tomino? Very nice choice.”

Hideki’s face was bright red.

“No comments from the sleeping gallery.” He muttered.

Eiji held up his hands.

“No worries, I’m not gonna tease.”

Yet.

Awww my shark pup might have a crush.

“Good or no food.”

“I share that sentiment.” Carmen smirked, nudging her husband a bit. “Now, go.”

“Going, going.”

Ah… I love my family.

After breakfast, Eiji grabbed his coat, getting ready to head out.

“Last call! Whoever wants to go out and get some fresh air and sunshine, say “aye” and follow me. If not, you’re free to stay home and we’ll go out later.” 

Ken hurried over, Okami right next to him.

“I wanna go!”

He chuckled, ruffling his hair.

“Alright buddy, let’s go. Hikaru? Hideki?”

Hideki walked by, holding up his phone and putting a finger to his lips. Eiji nodded, giving him a thumbs up.

Hikaru looked down at his robot he was tinkering with before getting up, dusting himself off.

“Sure, why not?” He grabbed his sweater before hurrying out with them.

Eiji gave him a grin as they started walking towards the end of the yard and into the forest itself.

“So, ponte un sueter?” He guessed.

“Guuuh yes. She pulled that at pick up from robotics club when we ran late. In front of all my friends. Including Marco.”

“Oof.” He winced. “Sorry kiddo.”

“Can’t complain too much eh?”

Ken walked between them, giving his older brother a playful look.

“But big bro! Mommy had to say it TWICE remember?”

“Why you little-!”

Ken ducked behind Eiji, whining a little. The man rolled his eyes, patting his head.

“Alright you two, chill… though seriously, bummer. Her mom still does that to her whenever we visit too.” He made his voice sound a bit high pitched, covering his mouth with his hands. “CARMENITA!” He exclaimed. “YOU’RE GOING TO GET DOUBLE PNEUMONIA! PONTE UN SUETER VAMANOS!!!” 

The boys busted up laughing.

“PFFT! Oh gosh! Guess it’s a good thing I haven’t met her yet!” Hikaru laughed, throwing his head back.

“That’s Abuelita alright!” Ken agreed, giggling up a storm. “Ken! You’re too skinny!” 

Eiji snickered.

“Yup, that’s your grandma. Least on your mom’s side. My mom’s… a bit more chill.”

“Just a bit eh?” 

Eiji nodded, looking around them. The forest was quiet today, the only sounds coming from the nearby river that ran through it and the birds chirping overhead.

“Honestly, can’t complain. She helped pay for our house.”

Hikaru stopped short as they kept walking.

“Wait. Seriously, Dad, how rich are we!?”

“Eh, enough?” He shrugged. 

Hikaru shook his head, running a hand through his hair. 

“Seriously, what do I have to do to get on her good side?”

“Not knock over her favorite vase!” Ken quipped, a guilty look coming to his face. “Especially not the blue one with the tiny birds.”

“... Oh… Noodle incident?”

“Literally.” Ken and Eiji retorted.

This family is nuts.

I love it.

Eiji looked up towards the sky, sighing a bit.

“I needed this.”

“How bad was it?”

“Enough that I really don’t wanna talk about it. Let’s just leave it at never use a spirit board. Kay?”

“Um… Alright.” Hikaru frowned a little. “You sure you're okay?”

“Yeah. Just gotta keep busy.” He broke into a jog. “C’mon. keep up!”

Ken broke into a sprint after him, giggling.

Hikaru shrugged, picking up the pace. If this was how Eiji coped with the things that he was afraid of, then he could get used to it.

Definitely can get used to it.

Eiji glanced back at the boys, smiling.

I’ll be alright. 

I’ve got a lot more depending on me now and I’m not gonna let them down.

International Mountain Day Horror ShortStory

During the month of December when a thick cold cloud of mist came rolling in the village a mountain appeared. It wasn’t a small mountain or a large one, but it was big enough that whoever tried climbing it never returned. There had been five previous explorers that journeyed upon it’s great snowy peaks: John the taxidermist, he told the other villagers that his animals had spoken to him in the dead of night about a door on the middle peak. Brenda the baker, she was also told of a door, but in her case it was written across a lovely cake she had been making for Tim. Lucas the hunter/hiker. Everyone thought he would make it, but after two weeks with no return or contact they gave up hope. He went up the mountain just to show he could. Dalton, Sam’s father. Dalton told Sam before the mist that his dead son from a previous woman had visited him encouraging him to go upon the mountain and find this door with it’s hidden treasures. Finally and most recent was Kim the local comedian, he was not spoken to of the door. He just thought it would be hilarious to pee off of the peak. The village was already small but felt like it was becoming smaller each cold day that passed, society from the outside wanted nothing to do with them because they had little in the way of trade. Just a few measly animal hides and meat, nothing of importance. They where all alone. The thought of unlimited gold and riches for trade helped egg the people into forming a group of volunteers to go and find this door that those former spoke of. With their only professional hiker dead they had to go with the next best person: his son. At the young age of twenty-four Larry had been on multiple hiking and hunting trips with his father Lucas, the catch was he never did it alone. He knew his stuff better than anyone else but being the leader of a few scraggly nobody’s was a new and terrifying thought to him. On top of the four other lives that balanced on his hands the fate of the village was also thrust upon his broad shoulders. If they failed and couldn’t retrieve the gold there would be no reason to return, the village had no need for failures mouths to feed. Checking the gear took time, time the Council Heads didn’t want to waste. Larry didn’t care what the Heads wanted, he wanted his group to be safe and secure. Each climbing backpack consisted of a tent, a personal parachute, thick climbing rope, belay/rappel device, climbing axe and the rest of the climbing essentials. They also received a large fanny-pack that had in it ten days worth of all the food, nutrients, and water one person would need. The climber had to provide their own clothes. With all of the gear sorted and accounted for Larry called together his group of climbers to town square on the brisk evening on the day of the climb. First to arrive was Sam, Dalton’s son. He had met Larry before but that was years ago. Sam knew from what he saw his father pack in his clothing bag just what he would need, this was why he arrived faster than anyone else. The bright yellow of his snow jacket, snow pants and snow boots made it so everyone around him could see him at all times. He was much older then Larry, which was evident with his wrinkled face, sunken in eyes and long graying beard. As he walked into the building labeled TOWN SQUARE the thing he noticed right of the bat was Larry standing in the middle of the stage reading a book, with ten bags surrounding him. Sam bolted out a loud Hello Larry, while waving his free hand at him. Larry hadn’t noticed that Sam walked in, due to being neck deep in a new book he had just purchased. When Sam yelled at Larry it startled him, so bad that he threw his book in the air and let out a little yelp. This made Sam laugh. Within a few minutes Sam made it up to the stage and removed his hand from his pocket to greet Larry properly, Larry responded in kind. “How’s It been Sam? I can’t remember the last time we met.” “Oh, It’s been aboot twenty years. I remember when you where ye small.” With that said Sam held is hand up just about knee height. Larry let out a laugh at the older mans joke, proceeded by a pat on the back. “Showing your age Sam. Just make sure you can keep up.” Sam thought his response was funny but before he could respond the door burst open with a cold wind following it. At the entrance was Jeremy, another of their teammates. Meaning to lightly push the door open the wind had caught hold of it nearly blowing them off of the hinges. Jeremy stood in the middle of the door staring into the building at the two men on stage, bewildered due to the wind. If not for Larry yelling he would’ve stayed all evening. “Close the fucking door Jeremy! It’s already cold enough!” Jeremy looked at the opened double doors, outside, then back at Larry. It took a second but what Larry had just said finally made sense. Maybe I should close the door, Jeremy had thought to himself. With his right hand he started to push on the opposite side of the door as in to close it, but the wind was so strong that he had no way of shutting it with just one hand. Reaching out with his left hand he pushed, now double handed but to no avail. It was like something had possessed the wind and wanted no one closing it. Planting his feet firmer on the snow he pushed even harder, the door wouldn’t budge. But he would. With one final hard push he slipped on ice flying into the air landing on his ass. Seeing this Larry and Sam burst out in a fit of laughter. They wanted to help because they where freezing due to the wind, but watching Jeremy was just too damn funny. As they stood there laughing at Jeremy they heard two new voices enter the mix. “Instead of standing there laughing maybe you lazy assholes could come and help the poor lad.” “Ye do com halp!” The first voice came from a tall beefy woman that slightly terrified Sam. The second voice came from the short woman that walked near the first, as if they where conjoined at the hip. Both started helping Jeremy close the door, as all three started pushing Larry and Sam ran over to help close it. Before they made it five steps the door closed itself, with a loud bang, this scared the hell of of Jeremy who jumped back. The tall beefcake of a lady walked over to Jeremy lending him a hand up. “Hey, names Janet, what’s yours?” Jeremy takes her hand and gets up from the ground, once up he brushes the dirt off and adjusts his clothing. “The names Jeremy! Do you have any idea what just happened? The wind opened it then it magically closed.” Janet looked at Jeremy with a face of intrigue seeming like her answer would be one of great confusion, but it wasn’t. “Must of been the wind.” She walked past Jeremy while her friend followed closely next to her, within a few steps she made it up to Sam and Larry. She raised her hand out to Larry; knowing he was the leader. “I’ll forgive your laziness this time, but if we are what people are calling us; a team. We should act more like one.” Larry thought to chuckle, but felt like that would be bad, so instead he just greeted her hand with his hand and shook it. Janet turned to Sam and presented her hand to him, he in turn shook it. “Well! Pleasant meeting you two, now to introduce this tumor that follows me.” She points down at her friend near her, then back up at the newly acquainted men. “Brenda this is Larry and Sam, Larry is the leader, and Sam is just Sam. Say hi.” Brenda stares at them for a few seconds then waves, but doesn’t utter a word. “She isn’t one for speaking.”, Janet was smiling while saying this. Larry let out a cautious smile back at them. Looking behind Janet he saw that Jeremy was finally joining them, now with the team all together it was time to get geared up and leave. “Ok, with everyone her we can prepare and leave. You all know why you are here; to climb that mountain and find that door, then open it and make it back to town with all the riches.” The team nods at each other in agreement, knowing why they are all here. Jeremy looks at his new teammates around him and asks a question. “Did anyone have a weird dream last night about the door?” The team all stare at Jeremy, he slinks back knowing he just made them think even worse of himself. Sam steps up and speaks. “Funny enough I did. My dad spoke to me through a dream about the door. He said he made it there and gave me the location.” Larry turns and looks at Sam with a look of excitement. “Wait, he told you where the location was? Can you show us the way there? With no map it’s near impossible.” Janet is putting her bags on, Brenda is helping her and Jeremy is looking through the bag for warmer cloths, only Larry and Sam where still talking. “I mean I can try my best when guiding us there but it will be a little difficult.” Larry jumps in excitement at this response, they might just have a chance! “Ok everyone! Now with that good news we should get going now that we have a much better chance!” The ladies finish getting ready, Jeremy had finished finding some extra cloths and is getting his bags on his back. Larry and Sam had been ready first so they had no need to double check or get ready. With everything ready to go it was time to set out. As a group with Larry leading the pack, then Sam behind him, Jeremy behind Sam and Janet with Brenda leading the rear they head out for the mountain. While leaving Jeremy thought to himself I wonder why they didn’t ask about my dream. But he just pushed that thought behind. They leave the safety and comfort of town.

It takes a little over two hours to make it to the base of the giant mountain. Now directly under it they take in just how big it is, from a distance it looks gigantic, but this close up changes the dimensions. The team never saw anything so vastly large, they will never see anything this large again. Seeing it up close was discouraging, going through their heads was a ton of questions, the most asked one pertaining to why did I do this? Just being near this mountain changed how they felt, it had an aura, most things do but this one had a bad aura. “So uh guys? Anyone else scared shitless? I want to leave, so good luck?” Jeremy starts to walk back towards the village, away from the team. He makes it two steps before Janet grabs him by his head dragging him back. “No, you stay. We are all scared to a degree, but it’s our mission so we must complete it.” Larry backs up and turns to his teammates, specifically Jeremy. “If you want to die then sure go back. If any go back with no riches you and your kin will die. Is that what you want? At least on the tall deadly, terrifying mountain we have a chance, slim, but it’s there.” Jeremy whom up to this point hasn’t been violent, or showed any anger, pushes Janet’s hand from his hood and stomps up to Larry. “You have no idea what I saw in my dream! This is pointless!” Larry looks down on Jeremy, no anger, no emotion, just hard facts. “Buck up, or leave. Got it?” Jeremy and Larry stare for a few seconds, then Jeremy takes the first action, stepping down. “Fine. Captain.” Larry smiles, not a cocky smile but a welcoming smile. “Glad that’s over, let’s go.” With the first step on the mountains base a cold wind blows at them, a whisper crawls into Jeremy’s ear. GO BACK. Jeremy stops, looking left and right trying to find where the mysterious voice came from, he has no luck. His fellow teammates keep walking without noticing that Jeremy stopped, even if they did they would just yell at him. He runs catching up with them. It takes a few hours but they make it a few thousand feet to the first peak. The wind has picked up to the point where they must use their ice picks just to move, the snow has started a downpour. The last few hundred feet the team started holding hands because of the thick snow making it near impossible to see anything more than arms length away. Larry spots a clearing a few feet away, a perfect place to set up camp. “Just a few more steps guys and we will be there!” The few steps feel like many, but once there they know it was worth it; finally time to rest. Once at the flat zone they notice how different it is compared to the rest of the walk, it’s perfectly flat with no wind and barely any snow; weird but welcoming. Larry instructs them how to unravel the tent and put it up, it’s an easy set-up with no problems. Now to get warm. Larry grabs the stack of wood he collected on the way up and builds a wood tepee, throws lint on it and sets the wood ablaze. The team huddles together, all six of them. Larry reaches over the fire warming his cold hands up, he looks to his right at Sam who is rummaging through his bag. “Sam, where did your father say to go next?” Sam looks up from his bag, across the fire he sees something, he doesn’t understand what it is so he passes it off as a snow mirage. “This is the Flat Peak he first spoke of, next is something he called the frost bridge, should be north and up form here.” Larry smiles, he feels good that someone knew an inkling of where to go, because he had no idea. Janet pulls out a forty once of vodka from her bag, popping the lid off she starts downing it like a fish out of water. With a few mouth fulls she passes it to Brenda. “Better drink up boys, this isn’t resealable and I hate wasting booze!” Brenda passes to Sam, he takes a few shots because he has no want to be intoxicated; he left that life behind. Larry only takes a small swig, leaders shouldn’t be drunk, even if they where sleeping after this. Larry passes the bottle to Jeremy who loves his booze as much as Brenda, only problem is he can’t hold it as well as she; that doesn’t stop him guzzling almost the rest. He hands it to the person to his left, Brenda. Handing it over he realizes something is odd, the hand that should be Brenda’s is a dark black glove with frosted blood on it, he hands the bottle over but looks back at Larry. “How many people came with us Larry?” Larry turns to Jeremy, in the corner of his eye he can see something sitting next to Jeremy, but he can’t make out what it is. “Five. Me, Sam, Brenda, Janet, and you. Why?” A look of shock and fear freezes on Jeremy’s face. “Yeah, I figured. Then who or what the hell is that!” He jumps back and points at the figure that was seated next to him, as he does this the figure comes into view for everyone to see; it was like someone had lifted a snowy veil from in front of them. “AH! Wat ze fuk iz zhat!” This was only the second time Brenda spoke, under any other circumstance Sam would have laughed at her accent, or whatever she would call it, but now was a bad time. The figure stood from it’s seated position, it was six feet tall and human, but yet not human. It had all the climbing gear on but it was frozen all the way through, with frozen blood surrounding it’s hands and torso. With a closer look you could see the guts dangling from its cut, the face was frozen so no sound came from it, there was no way for this being to be alive but it was. The team jumped away from the fire grabbing for the guns in their holsters. Larry reaches his first and pulls the trigger, nothing happens. With a further inspection of the gun he realizes it’s frozen. “Fuck! Guys the weapons are frozen! Get back!” The team listens except Janet, she rushes at the monster and shoulder bumps him in the fire. The ice surrounding the monster starts to thaw almost immediately, the head first. With a clear view of the face Larry recognizes who it is; his father! “DAD!?” Larry tries running towards it but Sam holds him back. “The hell ya doing you idiot!” Larry struggles against Sam trying to break free, with a quick sweep of the leg Sam brings him to the ground. “Dammit Sam! Let me up! It’s my dad!” “It may be his body but it’s not him dammit!” While the two struggle Janet and Brenda run to the tent looking for the sharpened ice picks. The monster turns to Jeremy, walking towards him Jeremy starts backing up and trips over his bags falling on his back onto the ground. The creature let’s out a loud shriek as the skull starts cracking open from the top like an egg would. With the cracking blood starts flowing from the seams in it’s head, the eyes bleed, the nose, the ears and the mouth. From the top comes an arm with three shard bladed fingers, it pulls the head down like it was peeling a bloodied banana. With the head fully peeled down to the neck the body falls to the ground, the arm grabs the snow covered ground crawling from the body. Finally out of the body the hand stands up covered in blood and brains, it turns to Jeremy and rushes at him. Jeremy screams as loud as he can as the hand jumps into his gaping mouth going straight down his throat. Sam lets Larry up from the ground, turning towards Sam Larry stabs him in the guts with a quick jab of his knife, Sam topples over holding his stomach while they leak all over the snow. He knew he shouldn’t have came along. Larry runs to where is fathers body lays seeing the mess of what had became of his head, in the snow is a trail of blood from the hand going towards where Jeremy lies on the ground. He follows it ending up standing over Jeremy with his bloody knife. “The fuck did you do to my dad?” Jeremy tries to defend himself and speak, but anytime he tries nothing comes out, he raises his hands in defense. With this Larry snaps, he pounces on the defenseless Jeremy and starts stabbing him wildly on the head, killing him instantly. That doesn’t stop Larry who keeps stabbing and stabbing. Janet and Brenda make it to the tent for the ice pinks, once there the alcohol starts affecting Janet, she looks at Brenda. Her once good friend Brenda doesn’t look like that friend anymore, no, she looks like a troll that one would see in a fairy tale that lives under a bridge. Janet finds the ice pick deep down in her bag, bringing it out she swings at Brenda slicing her in the throat, for a split second Brenda stares at her friend in shock. “Da fuk.” Her throat starts to squirt blood, grabbing it she hopes to stop it by applying pressure, the cut is much too long and deep for that to work. Gurgling on her blood now foaming out of her mouth she takes one last look at her friend with tears in her eyes. Falling over she lays dead. Janet steps over her limp body and walks out of the tent, making her way outside. Outside near the fire Larry is still stabbing Jeremy countless times, Janet who is making her way outside sees this from afar. Running over to them at her top speed she fails to notice Sam on the ground bleeding out, her foot catches on his leg causing her to tumble over. Her hand extends to catch herself forgetting that she had the ice pick in it. Her face lands upon it with full force and weight going onto it, lodging the pick through her skull killing her. Covered in blood Larry hears the commotion, satisfied with the stabbing he gets up going over to see what happened. Before he makes it to the body the snow starts to settle down towards the north. Looking far out in the distance he see it; the door, the whole reason they came. He makes his way to it, the path clear like it was a calling. The closer he gets the further away it looks, but that won’t stop him after everything that just transpired. A wind blows by him carrying a voice. You need four four deaths to reach the door. Larry looks at his hand and counts the names: Jeremy, Brenda, Janet, Sam, four names. “All four are dead! I know Brenda and Janet are because I heard them scream!” One is not yet dead, but soon will be. Larry turns around to head back to see just who the voice was talking about, as he turns he feels a warm sensation coming from his chest, looking down he sees an ice pick protruding through it. He reaches for it trying to grab it out, but he has no such luck, instead he turns back around and sees Sam smirking holding in his guts with one hand. “Join your father dickhead.” Sam pushes him over impaling the pick deeper killing him. You may enter SAM. Sam looks at the door barely able to make out the details. “Fuck you door on the mountain.” He falls over dead.

SHINee in MNL (OneK Global Peace Concert) 03/02/17

P. S. I’m just going to blog about SHINee since I’m a SHINee blog but I wanna commend all the other artists that performed. They all did an amazing job.

OKAY SO I AM STILL FREAKING OUT OVER THE FACT THAT I SAW SHINEE LIVE IN MANILA YESTERDAY!!! AND THEY WERE FINALLY COMPLETE!!! (SHINee already visited the Philippines twice before but the Taemin wasn’t there on their first time and Minho wasn’t there for the second time)

My Shawol friend and I decided to just buy the general admissions ticket because we knew that they will just perform less than five songs (and we’re still students so we can’t afford the VIP seats TT.TT)

The concert was supposed to start at 7pm but it actually started at 8:30 pm. It’s good ‘cause we arrived at 8pm since we ate dinner first. During the dinner, I was just chill and all and eating slowly ‘cause I knew that SHINee will perform late since they’re a senior group. My Shawol friend was agitated for some reason and she wanted us to eat faster. (There were five of us who watched the concert together. Two of us were Shawols. One girl was a kpop lover in general. Two of us were foreign students who just wanted to check kpop out and one of them is the guy I’m dating rn hahahaha) I was like “Allou, chill, it’s not starting rn and SHINee will probably perform late” And she was like “Minho’s hosting!” And I was like “OMG WHAT MINHO’S HOSTING? ASDFGHJKL EAT FASTER GUYSSSSSS”

When we got to the arena, it was already packed. We were lucky enough to get tickets with SHINee World PH so pretty much everyone around us were Shawols. AND AND AND Two rows below us, there was a group of Korean Guy Shawols!!! They were so cute!!! AND AND AND All their stuff were in pearl aqua. Their bags, their shirts, their accessories, they were so adorable I wanna squish theeeeeem

When the event was about to start, fans are starting to chant “Minho Minho Minho” since he was the host. When he actually came out with Seolhyun, the arena erupted with cheers HAHAHAHAHAHA PH Shawols were already screaming their lungs out omg I was the complete opposite. I was just staring at him while covering my mouth because I can’t believe that I’m actually seeing Minho live omg (The guy I’m dating was like “Is that Minho? Are you okay Mars? Is that Minho?” he was so cute bye)

They were speaking in Korean ‘cause there was a screen that was posting their translated script but I can’t read it because the font was small and we were in Gen Ad huehue

Minho is like the cutest person in the world TT.TT You know that he maintains eye contact with the fans and he takes care of his co-host (there’s more to come just wait)

SHINee was the second to the last to perform (PSY was the finale) When Seolhyun came out alone, everyone lost their shit because they knew SHINee was next!!!

They started their set with View. The first thing I actually noticed was the fact that Onew wasn’t really that bubbly. Like you know how smiley Onew is naturally, right? But during View, he looks more like Jinki than Onew. Even my Shawol friend who is an MVP also noticed it and said that there was something off about Onew. We kinda brushed it off because after Onew’s line, we were just simply mesmerized with SHINee as a whole huehue Plus there was a tiny JongKey moment when they had a duet part and the cameras showed them together in the screen and I can feel that all the JongKey fans screamed hahahaha

SHINee World PH released a set list of songs that SHINee would perform the night before the concert. We knew that View, 1 of 1 and Everybody will be performed. Allou and I were speculating about the fourth song because no one knew what it will be. My guess was Beautiful. Allou doubted it and we started eliminating songs but we ended not having a final hypothesis. Haha. The sound system wasn’t really very nice so we couldn’t tell if SHINee was singing live. (In our defense, some of the artists weren’t singing live. And during one of SHINee’s visits in the PH, they lip synced huehue) All our doubts were erased when the second song started playing. I couldn’t here Jonghyun’s first part because of the screaming around me so I started hearing the actual song on Onew’s part. I think his Jinki aura suited this part of the concert. He looked so solemn while singing. We all know that he is an actual angel given by the heavens to us but he looked like one and his voice actually opened the gates of heaven bye then it dawned on me that THE SONG WASFUCKING ENCORE AND THEY WERE SINGING LIVE AND WHEN IT GOT TO MINHO’S PART EVERYONE WAS SILENT AT FIRST THEN AFTER HIS LINE WE STARTED CHEERING BECAUSE HE WAS REALLY SINGING LIVE AND HIS VOICE IS SO GENTLE AND PURE AND BEAUTIFUL OH MY GOD AND OMG AGAIN KIM JONGHYUN WAS SO EXTRA WITH HIS VOICE LIKE WOAH BOY YEAH I KNOW YOU’RE ONE OF THE BEST VOCALISTS IN THE INDUSTRY CHILL YOU DON’T HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING BUT GAHD HE HIT NOTES SO WELL YOU CAN SEE HIS EXTERNAL JUGULAR VEIN PROTRUDING GAHD 

I’m not really sure when exactly they had their talk cause my feels were overwhelming but when they actually had it, Key spoke in English and we were screaming again so I didn’t understand most of it I’M SORRY HAHAHAHA Oh but it’s sad again ‘cause Onew didn’t introduce himself but the rest did :( (But his energy started to build up on their next set and he was full blown during the last one so I hope he gradually felt better) The complete opposite of Onew was Taemin. The baby boy was just smiling the whole night and with his mushroom hair cut again he looks like a toddler omg he was so cute why is he even real please protect him. JongKey were talkative as usual and Key was trying to translate it to us ^.^

The third song was 1 of 1. What really caught my attention during this part was Key. Boy oh boy your attention should be really caught by Key. I always read fans saying that Key’s energy is really different compared to the rest of the members. Knowing Key, I’m not really shocked whenever I read this kind of stuff. but when I was the one watching him dance the way he’s dancing, it’s really different. Key loves attention and I can say that attention loves him back. And the way he pops his body is so extra. I’m a Flamer for years now but my attention can’t really stay too long on Minho whenever Key’s near him because the latter’s aura is out of this world I swear!!! 

After 1 of 1, SHINee members started laying down and then it dawned on us that it’s Everybody time so we started chanting “SHINee SHINee SHINee” DUDE BRO MAN I THOUGHT THAT I WAS IN A SHINEE WORLD CONCERT BECAUSE THE WHOLE ARENA WAS SINGING TO THE SONG AND CHANTING WITH US!!! (They were already singing with us on the first three but the fan chants were superb on Everybody like no joke we had ZERO chill) For years I knew that SHINee is one of the best dance groups in Kpop but when I was watching the choreo for Everybody, I got GOOSBUMPS. Even the guy I was dating admitted that their choreo was amazing and he got taken aback by the fanchants. I told you it was amazing how these fans of different artists were singing one song and fan chanting like we were all in the same fandom. Omg I’m actually crying while remembering that moment bye But wait I need to commend our baby boy Lee Taemin because his dance moves were on point from the start and was extra extra on point during Everybody (plus he removed his jacket for a few seconds that got everyone screaming then he smiled after doing that what a little shit omg that brat) 

Right after Everybody, the members went back to the backstage except for FREAKING CHOI MINHO WHO WAS PERSPIRING SO MUCH HE LOOKED LIKE HE JUST SHOWERED BUT HE WENT STRAIGHT TO SEOLHYUN’S SIDE LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED ANS STARTED HOSTING AGAIN THEN HE FLASHED THAT CHOI MINHO SMILE THAT MADE ME DIE FOR THE NTH TIME THAT NIGHT HUEHUE HALP

During the encore, all the artist gathered on the stage. SHINee members were being clingy together as usual. Yonghwa from CNBLUE, being the crowd pleaser that he is, started to walk to the extended part of the stage to wave to the fans. I was waiing for SHInee to do the same. Minho pointed Yonghwa to Jonghyun and I assumed that they wanted to do the same. After awhile, the rest of CNBLUE followed their vocalist then the other artists followed as well. When SHINee got to the extended part of the stage, they were all waving to the fans. THEN MINHO SPOTTED THE SHINEE WORLD PH PART AND STARTED WAVING AT US AND WE WAVED BACK THEN HE WAVED AGAIN HUEHUE AND THE REST OF THE SHINEE MEMBERS WAVED TOO OMG Except for Lee Taemin because guess what, he was the last member to get to the extended stage because he didn’t know what’s going on HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

So yeah, that’s my One K Global Concert experience for you guys. I hope every Shawol will meet or watch SHINee live someday. I never knew this day will happen but it did. Keep the faith, loves :*

Someone else hit my car while it was parked. It was very cut-and-dry. I got a police report, the officer talked to the driver. It states that my car was legally parked and the other driver is at fault. The damage is minor rear bumper damage, nothing too terrible. I had an adjustment for $734 from the local body shop for my make of car, and I showed it to him. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this estimate, and he said the body shop would settle with the insurance company directly for costs in excess of the estimate. $300 is a little much. Since it's minor damage, I think the body shop will probably take the money and do a shoddy job on the car. It's my understanding they are supposed to repair my car to pre-accident conditions. Saturday night I hit a big pothole and a few miles later my tire was completely flat and actually had holes big enough to stick a few fingers through. I took it to a tire repair shop and the rim was bent as a result of the tire going flat. They've found a replacement rim, but it doesn't match the other 3 on the car.. I would like all matching rims, but a complete set with tires is about $800. Would something like this be covered by auto insurance? The cost of the mismatched replacement rim and 2 new tires is $350, my comprehensive deductible is $500, but I would pay the $500 if insurance covered 4 MATCHING rims.. So basically I'm wondering: 1) Is this something auto insurance would cover? 2) Would they just cover any replacement rim, even if it didn't match the other 3 or 3) Would they pay for a whole new set of rims? My car was parked on a busy street in icy conditions and when I returned to it, it had clearly been hit but no one left a note, etc. It will probably be very expensive to fix...although it is only cosmetic damage and it isn't horrible. In fact, from a distance, you don't notice it much. Anyway....my husband passed away recently and my finances have been limited.
